CS5 cross language upgrade?

Hi,
I know Adobe provides free cross plattform or cross language upgrades. I am thinking of a simpler way: It would probably not be possible to do that from a universal English version, but would for instance a localized French language CS5 for Mac upgrade work with the CS4 German for Mac registration numbers? Or are they just incompatible?

I could talk on the phone to an Adobe customer care representative who after enquiring, said that the French language upgrade can be installed with the German serial number. Hope this is right!

Cross-platform upgrade question

I'm posting this question here as I have had less than satisfactory results from asking Customer Support about this issue. I know this forum is moderated by some great folks at Adobe and am hoping someone can clear up this question for me.
I currently own CS3 Design Premium for Windows, and need to purchase CS5 for Mac. A search for "Cross platform swap" on Adobe brought me to this page: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405819.html. However, the instructions there don't match what is offered on the support page. Under Return/Exchange/Refund I have only the following options:
Duplicate Order
Product Didn't perform/ work as expected
Purchased Incorrect upgrade
Purchased Wrong Product/Platform/Language
Shipping Problems
Unable to Download Order
Wrong Product delivered
None of those options is correct as described in the KB article. I decided to chat with Customer Support, and the rep told me that all I had to do is order the upgrade and I could choose which platform to install on first run. Really? The Rep said CS5 included two discs, one for Windows install and one for OS X. He assured me that I would have no problem installing a CS5 upgrade on my Mac, even though I have never installed CS3 on that machine.
I am skeptical about this solution for two reasons: one, Adobe has never offered Win and Mac discs together for CS versions. Two, when I go to pre-order CS5 I need to make a choice between platforms.
Has Adobe changed its method of delivering Creative Suite products? Are both platform discs really included? If not, there are two things that need to be done:
Article http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405819.html needs to be corrected. The steps as described cannot be completed.
Customer Support reps need to be notified that they are providing incorrect information regarding cross-platform upgrade procedures.
Finally, I need correct information as to how to go about upgrading my CS3 Windows to CS5 Mac. Do I purchase an upgrade disc and use my CS3 serial number to install? Do I do some sort of return, and if so, how?

I don't represent Adobe in any capacity other than a mostly satisfied user. Here's what I did on a cross platform (Windows to Mac) exchange--not an upgrade, but my experience may help you.
I, too, found that the directions didn't match the support web site. So I used 'Purchased wrong...' as my subject. I then completely described what I wanted to do in the comments section. I included my current platform version and serial number in the comments. After posting I had a case number to enter onto the Letter of Destruction (LOD) which I then attached to the case. I don't know if a LOD is required in your situation as you will be paying for an upgrade. You should be able to keep both packages active-but customer support will probably know. In my case I had to certify that I had destroyed the original Windows package.
After this was posted to the Adobe Customer Support Portal I then had a case number I could give to the telephone customer support so I called them. While on the line with them they read my case file and informed me my credit card would be charged $5.95 for shipping. Six days later I had the CS4 Design Premium for the Mac. It *should* be just as easy for you.
I must say that I have had to call Adobe Customer Support a handful of times in the last couple of years. In each and every case I received prompt and accurate information that solved my problem or pointed me directly to the solution. I am aware that this is not always the case and wish you good luck.

Adobe CS5 MC Win to Adobe CS5 MC Mac Upgrade

Firstly, I am in India.
I asked this on chat with customer service they asked me to contact reseller regarding product swap for this, but when I contacted one listed they said that its not possible as Adobe CS5 isn't available anymore and only CS5.5 is + they don't know if cross-os upgrade is actually possible, but since I got new macbook pro due to (better backup feature and iOS development etc) I want to get my Adobe Master Collection from my old PC to new Macbook pro and I don't wanted to go for cs5.5 due to money issue(I would sit tight for cs6). I even contacted few other resellers and distributors it seems they are not quiet interested in this deal (passing from one person to another). What should I do?.

I made another post regarding this and other issue I got due to this issue that is 'upgrading to cs5.5 first' I got that one resolved and after 3 weeks I get that product + a two week of searching around and asking resellers if they are interested in selling one. Adobe's India head alteready made contact with me regarding this issue.
For first issue that is switing to mac, I followed Bob's advice temporarly and got creative suite on bootcamp so that I can start working on projects. Meanwhile I am in middle of a project so I can't sign LOD and not use software for a week or two (might take longer since 1 week is wait time in US). I will sign LOD in next 3 weeks most probably and wait for mac version.

No, cross-platform swapping is only supported for the latest release CS version which is now CS6.

Can you still get a cross platform upgrade for CS3?

I'm a mac user and recently purchased CS3 Design Premium for windows used -- does anyone know you can still get a cross platform upgrade from windows to mac without upgrading to CS4?

I am very, very sorry to read that. My windows pc is just crashed because of a virus my payed anti-virus program could not deal with, and everything have to be cleared totally. (XP pro - browser used at the virus-time = Mozilla. Anti-virus program = The price winning PC-tools)
Have to start all over again from scratch.
Therefore I wanted to change to a new Mac machine for my CS3.
I know I could upgrade to CS4, but do not need the CS4 for the time being, so I have to stay with Windows.
Alle my other programs - Nikon - Topaz - Nik-software - Hemi. - Jason Odell - have been so very helpfull and trusted me and have send me new keys - THANK YOU, you have a lot of problems when this problem happens, so they removed some of the stones, , but not Adobe, they said by telephone (I also tryed a mail, but no answer), that I have to sit at the pc for installing and then try to call them by telephone to get help for autentification, and nobody can promise me it will be the same day.
Last time it took one and a half our to get through by telephone.
I really love your program (CS3 extended) ....... but not this.

No Pre-CS4 cross-platform upgrades anymore?

I bought CS3.3 Web Premium for Windows 2 1/2 months ago. Before I purchased I confirmed with Adobe Customer Service that I can exchange it to the Mac version for free.
This week I finally purchased a Mac and called Adobe to get the Mac version, and was told that my only option would be to upgrade to CS4 Mac (for $$$) and that they no longer sell / send out version 3.3.
Can this be for real? I just bought it 2 1/2 months ago and they are no longer honoring their free cross-platform upgrade policy. It's hard to imagine that they don't have 3.3 in stock any more. It's not like I am requesting a CS2 Win to CS2 Mac upgrade. I just spend a lot of money, and now they want me to spend even more money...
Any ideas? Anybody at Adobe reading this?

Now that makes sense. I'm beginning to thing that the techs and sales people at Adobe don't really know anything. I spoke to three, and none of them even hinted at that possibility.
I also spoke to someone at Apple who said that their software couldn't damage the Mac's hardware, as well. It's hard to believe they'd keep it on the market without warnings, recalls or disclaimers, knowing it could do that much damage.
Sure leaves a bad taste in my mouth about Adobe. Maybe it's time for me to look at other software.

CS5 to CS6 upgrade and creative cloud pricing

I dont understand adobe's logic with pricing of upgrades compared to the cloud.
I bought the cs5 master collection upgrade from a single suit at least in part because I assumed each subsequent upgrade would be about $800. I skipped cs5.5 because it
a) it was priced as a whole version number upgrade
b) my core apps werent updated.
Now I come to upgrade to CS6 and find that I have to pay again for a single suit upgrade. There is no upgrade path from CS5 master to CS6 master. That is a rip off to start.
I also find that even paying the full price on yearly contract its far cheaper to go with the cloud over the expected lifetime of the product: over 2 years its $1200. The upgrade path I have available is around $1500.
How does that make the upgrade viable?
And finally having to post this here because there is no formal route to contact adobe sales via email. If anyone can provide one i'd be obliged.

I have had Adobe software for a long long time, and I decided to drop my perpetual licenses for the Creative Cloud. I upgrade every version anyway (more or less) so it's not a big deal for me price wise.
I also use more than just the Production suite software (Acrobat and Dreamweaver) so Creative Cloud sort of consolidates all of that.
My current experience is...the Creative Cloud is a work in progress. There are still features that aren't there yet, like the Creative Cloud desktop app, and some other functionality that's all coming sometime later this summer or this year. The online storage is nice. The website hosting is nice too (although I haven't quite got it working yet).
I do have access to other programs I didn't have before like InDesign and Fireworks, so I've found those interesting to toy around with. Over the years I'd occasionally get an InDesign layout from someone and be unable to do anything with it, so that does solve a rare problem for me as well.
I'd say if you qualify for the discount pricing (which means you're either a student/teacher/edu subscriber, or own an existing CS3, CS4 or CS5 suite) then the $29/month is awesome. Just do it. If you're looking at the $49/month price, maybe not so much.
If you are only an infrequent creative type and only do video/image/print projects occasionally, go with the month-to-month plan and you don't have to worry about getting stuck on the long term, and you only pay for the software whenever you need it.

Existing Adobe master Collection CS5 will not upgrade to CS6

I have an existing installation of Adobe Master Collection CS5. When I try to upgrade to CS6 it does not recognize the CS5 serial number it says it is not a qualifying product. What can I do about it?

The 3rd option in the buying guide table includes Master Collection CS5 as an upgrade path.
@tgms: if Master Collection CS5 is already installed on the computer where you're trying to install MC CS6, the CS6 installer should find CS5 automatically and not require you to enter your CS5 serial number.
Call Adobe Customer Service in your country. User to user forums cannot help you with serial number issues. Only Adobe themselves can do that.

I just bought Adobe CS3 Production Premium and have the chance to buy the CS5 master collection upgrade.

If I buy the CS5 Master collection upgrade, can that upgrade apply to the software that is is the production premium CS3?

Not really. CS6 is an upgrade to your CS5.5 and upgrades are supposed to used under the same conditions as the original qualifying product. Of course you can install CS6 on a second machine at any time as long as you don't use them at the same time. And Adobe may not even technically prevent you from re-using your CS5.5 on two additional machines, but it's definitely not how things are meant to be, even if they may tolerate this, if it is kept within the family. Just don't be foolish and give your CS5.5 away, if your daughter lives elsewhere - for the aforemntioned reasons, you are gonna need the serial number to activate your CS6.

My story is a long one! I'll make it short.
I've moved from Windows to Mac.
So I've ordered a CS4 upgrade on your web site on may 26th. When, 3 weeks later, i wanted to activate it, it said my previous windows key was not valid.
I called, mailed, open cases, filled out LOD, sent them, uploaded them, faxed them, called again, again, etc, etc... Problem is the on the website, YOU CAN'T ORDER cross-platform upgrade!!!!! But it is not mentionned anywhere!!
I then tried to get reimbursed and just redo the process over phone. Refund? Did I say refund?? So I called, mailed, open cases, filled out LOD, sent them, uploaded them, faxed them, called again, again, etc, etc... End of July, I was completely resourceless, so I called MasterCard and told them my story. They reimbursed me.
10 days ago I called back by phone to order the cross-platform upgrade since they told me it was the way of doing it. I ordered, and even added on the order a lightroom 2. I paid again on credit card. They asked me again (!) to fill out a new LOD and upload it. I did. Now, 10 days later, today, I called back and guess what? They will escalate my case to upper level!!!!!!! They haven't ship anything yet!!!!!!!!!!!
I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!! Please tell me that someone cares for loyal customer at Adobe!!! I could just pirate the software but I want to pay and use it legally!!!! And this is how I am being served!!!!!
Is it just me or somebody else could help?? By the way, when I called today, the Indian guy hung-up on me!!!! I can't believe this!!!

Again, I'm not surprised if a lot of people other alternatives!!!!! They really are lucky not real good alternatives existed to Photoshop cause I would be gone weeks ago!! The product is good and is the only one, so they know!

Cross platform upgrade question between Photoshop CS5/CS6 and multiple Windows/Mac computers

I'm currently using a Windows laptop and PC running Photoshop CS5 from a Student license I got in college. I am considering moving to an Apple laptop so I was looking at the cross platform update question on the forum that led me here: Order product | Platform, language swap
It's not really clear if I will be eligible for the upgrade, and Adobe support chat sent me to the forum, and that page sends me back to where I started to see if I am eligible. I would prefer to purchase the upgrade outright, rather than pay for the new monthly subscription model.
If I am eligible for a swap/upgrade to Apple CS6, will I still be able to use CS5 on my Windows PC?

I don't have a definitive answer, but I have a feeling that a student teacher version is not eligible for an upgrade discount. You own the CS5 perpetual license, and can install it on two computers at the same time as CS6, CC etc. That will be the case in perpetuity. (not sure why I didn't just type 'forever' back there, or alert the cliche police 'Going forward')
Photoshop CS6 Extended will cost you just shy of US$1600 according to this Amazon page The non extended version does not give you the 3D tools, and Photoshop CC comes as the full extended version as standard. If you got the Photoshop / Lightroom Photography plan at a mere $10 a month, the price of CS6 would keep you subscribed for > three years. Photoshop CC has a lot of wonderful features CS6 does not have, and will never have, and CC will be be constantly updated 'in perpetuity'. ;-) $10 a month! Heck, what's not to like about that?!!!

CS5 german language pack / update ??

Hi dear users! I have a big problem! I installed CS5 Master Collection with all features enabled, but I didn't knew that the package doesn't have German language, so I have it now installed in English. Is there any possibility to update it to German or to download some language pack from somewhere? Please help me if you know something related to this, any information would be helpfull (I'm a novice in Designing and would really need this CS5 for all the members of my family but they don't know english so good...) Nope, there is no such thing. You can only switch languages by upgrading to CS5.5 and that even can only be done by calling support via phone and filling out a bunch of papers.
