CS5 Error 23 :: 46 when rendering
Using AE CS5 I get this error whenever I try to render: After Effects error: Could not convert Unicode characters. (23 :: 46)
I searched online and found this solution to the same error code for CS3 and CS4, but I tried it and it didn't work, I'm still getting the same error message.
This happened with the other project I tried to export (which had some Chinese and English in it), but this project didn't have any characters at all in it, the only text is hard-rendered already from an export from Premiere Pro (which doesn't seem to have any problems with text).
What the heck is causing this? I'm running it on a MacBook Pro, 10.5, with English-US and two Chinese simplified languages as my inputs, but English US is the first one on the list. Anyway, the AMT folder has the en-us and zh-cn files, so I assume it's not an issue with that.
Does anyone know of a fix for this? If I can't get it to stop doing that, AE is completely useless to me! Agh!
(Perhaps it's obvious, but I should add, I don't have any language compatibility issues with any other CS5 programs, or at least not premiere and photoshop, which I've already used, nor any other "creative" type programs I've ever used on this computer.)
Have you updated your AE to the 10.0.1 upgrade? It should fix most of these issues. Otherwise look for mixed naming in your source assets, file and folder names. The same problem as explained in the KB articel may occur, if your folders use glyphs that are in an unsupported range. Raniming offending items may solve the problem. Also check your meta data. You may have comments in Chinese or whatever there that also could throw things off. Letting AE ignore the source meta data or manualyl stripping it might help. If it still doesn't, I'm sure the engineers would appreciate having a look at your project, so a short mail to [email protected] with the project attached might provide some clues.

Tim Mooreswitch the location of your render files and see if that helps. I had this happen week before last and it drove me crazy (crazier) I switched scratch disks and met deadline. Now it all behaves like it never happened. some bit stuck somewhere, that took the machine being off for a while to cure

Encore CS5.1 Motion Jitter when rendering

Im Having problem when exporting on CS5.1 some places in the movie specially PAN & TILT shots are Jittering not clear

I know that any file i import to Encore it will render again. so im doing that but when i watch the Blu-ray im not liking the quality

Photoshop CS5: error when printing to Xerox Phaser 7750
Mac 10.6.5
I get the following error when I print directly to my Xerox Phaser 7750 from Photoshop CS5:
"Error: /Library/Printers/Xerox/Filters/pstophaserps failed"
All the other CS5 apps (plus Photoshop CS4) have no trouble printing.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.Something doesn't add up since PS CS4 works ok. What's different about CS5? 64bit?
My guess would be that Photoshop is the only app you use that prints PostScript through the Cocoa drivers, and thus the only one hitting that particular part of the driver software.

Adobe Bridge CS5, error when creating contact sheet "There is insufficient disk space..."
I am running Bridge CS5 for the first time and I receive this error when attempting to create a contact sheet. "There is insufficient disk space to complete this operation." The image files I am using are web optimized and very small. The error even occurs when attempting one small image. I have gone back to using Bridge CS4 and it works just fine. Any help?
Thanks!I think I narrowed this down to having a network volume mounted with a share name of "Users". The strange thing is even you if unmount the volume you will still have problems. However, if you avoid mounting the volume entirely (from boot) it will be OK.
The solution, it appears, is to rename the sharepoint to something other than "Users". This worked for us. I'm not sure if it matters whether the server is Windows or Mac OS. In our case the sharepoint was an AFP volume on Mac OS.
We had other errors related to Bridge such as "unable to create folder" and the path in the message appeared to be /Users/currentUser/..... which made no sense at all. However, if Bridge was internally trying to use /Volumes/Users (the mounted sharepoint), it would not only not find "currentUser", but it would not have permissions to create that folder either.
So, another possible solution could be to grant file creation rights on the network volume "Users". Another not-so-great idea.

Error Code 6 when installing CS5 on Windows 7 64 bit Machine
Like many others I am getting Error Code 6 when attempting to install Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 7 Home Premioum 64 bit machine. I have gotten as far as creating the log and displaying it but am not skilled enought to interpret it. Can anyone look at this log and tell me the solution to my issue. It is greatly appreciated.
This is on a new machine with a new operating system and up to date. Lightroom 3 installed with no problem as did many other apps.

Apparently Photoshop was dependant on it being on the C dirve. When I repointed this back to my C drive CS5 installed properly.

Thanks for your response. I have reinstalled and used the adobe clean software to remove all adobe software first. still not working. Can you explain in more detail "fix the permissions on your User: Library folders"? I have verified disc perms in Disc Utility.

Upgraded pc to ios 7 but when syncing to iphone 4 it crashed. Phone is now in recovery mode but it nearly finishes recovery then stops with error 3014. Phone rendered useless until this is fixed. Help pls? I have tried many of the suggestions for the error code given. Im getting frustrated. I'm not a techno so would appreciate simple terms or ways of explanation. Thx!!

"File Error" and "Out of Memory" when rendering FCE
Dear all,
I imported a 2 hour holiday video into FCE.
When rendering the video, a message appears that the rendering process will last about 15 minutes to complete.
However, frequently I am warned by the following message:
"File Error: The specified file is open and in use by this or another application"
When activating Rendering again, the render time is now increased to about 45 minutes.
I now either receive a couple of times the message: "File Error: The specified file is open and in use by this or another application" >>or even worse: "Out of memory"<<.
Today I purchased an addition 2GB of memory to increase my memory form 750 MB to 2.5GB !!!
Can anyone please tell me what could be the cause of these messages and how to solve them?
BTW, no other programs are running while I use FCE.

The error message means FCE is trying to rewrite a file that it is currently using. It could be mistakenly trying to save a render file, if you're only rendering, or if you're trying to re-export a file, you'll get that message.
Try dumping all your render files, restarting FCE and trying again.
The Out of Memory error almost always points toward a corrupt file. Could be a source file, could be a render file. Again, dump your render files and try again.
If these don't work, you need to close FCE, take all your source media offline, then open FCE. Now, reconnect each clip one by one until you find the corrupt clip. Keep going, there may be more than one. Re-capture the corrupt clips and you should be good to go. -
Error code 6 when re-installing CS5
I was running a student/ teacher edition of CS5. After a clean install of Windows 7, I cannot reactivate CS5 after copying the files back to the computer's hard drive. I get an error code 6 when I try to launch PhotoShop. What do I need to do to get CS5 working again?
Nhojrewob did you copy the files or reinstall the software? If you copied the files then please run the uninstaller located in the Programs & Features control panel.

Error Code: U44M2P20 when upgrading CS5, with Illustrator CS5 15.02
Recently I got the message to upgrade my Adobe Creative Suite (CS5) Production Premium. However during upgrade three components failed:
1. Extension Manager 5.5
2. Adobe Illustrator CS5 15.0.2 and
3. Pixel Bender 2.5
I got the message to upgrade these components again today and the upgrade again failed.
I then downloaded the actual upgrades and tried to manually upgrade but it again failed with error code U44M2P20
when I looked at the error code I get the note:
Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product..." when installing an upgrade or upsell
however, I currently have Adobe Illustrator 15.0.0 and Pixle Bender toolkit 2.0 installed and working.
how can I either upgrade or stop the upgrade messages from coming up.I am getting the impression that you should be saying "update" instead of "upgrade"
If the Adobe Application Manager is involved in these messages about updates then what you can do is adjust the preferences to no longer check for updates for the troublesome program updates. -
After Effects Disk Full error (-1610153463) when rendering to QTs
Hi! I'm having a very weird error on most of my computers when rendering to our shared storage,
After Effects error: Rendering error while writing to file "E:\xxx.mov". Disk Full. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1601053463)
All the machines in here can access the same media and storage volumes, they are mounted as NTFS volumes fron an iSCSI storage called DDP. All this was working fine until about 2 weeks ago, nothing was updated or upgraded on the storage.
Weird this is this do not fail if the render to the same location is done in AVI format, or with certain QT codecs.
NON codec fails immediately, writes a QT that is about 8 MB in size and fails.
DNXHD writes about 1 second of frames and fails.
BMP codec fails too.
but...
all those codecs render fine if I render to my desktop or to my D drive that is also a local drive inside of the computer, NTFS formatted too. So the codes mys be fine.
I can not discard ad storage issue, but like I said before, it ONLY fails if I use QT and some codecs, PhotoJPG for example does not fail, space, I have plenty.... and, this only happens from the windows computers, the MAC does not fail.
I'll keep testing stuff and will post what I find.... but if anyone have any suggestions or ideas.... are very welcome...wonder if you read my previous post answering to myself?
It is actually not a network drive, is is a NFTS drive mounted over iSCSI, its not a NFS volume. Workd fine for over a year, until last Windows Defender update... and it is actually fasted than my local drives since the local drives are simple SATA drives and this is a 48 Drives RAID connected over 10 GigE iSCSI and with a performance of 1050 MB/s.
Even our projects are saved on these iSCSI volumes, so all the rooms we have can work from the same project without having to duplicate media or projects between rooms, so producers can jump from room to room with the projects if the artist is bussy with something else and they need changes, someone else can take care of it... -
File Not Found Error When Rendering Motion Menu
Hi there.
I'm attempting to render a motion menu and keep getting the error "file not found". All of the necessary files are available and no specific missing file is mentioned.
The background video is a .m2v, and there is a .wav audio file too. They are 42 seconds long.
I tried other Encore projects and 2 others are doing the same thing, or coming up with a 'General Error'.
I have cleaned the Database in the Media Cache. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Encore. There are no updates available.
Any suggestions?

When I (not recently, thank goodness!) have a project I suspect of corruption, I create a new project, and just "import as menu" from the old menu subdirectory. The method you used deletes the menus, so exporting the menus helps.

Actually, I'm not really sure about Encore terminology (this was my first project), but the only motion I have in my menus is the line that appears under the button text when that button is highlighted. At one point I had the photo buttons (for videos) set to animate, but I removed that option.
A highlight is just a highlight, not "motion." Animated buttons, when rendered as the menu, are actually a video background, so that was a motion menu.
All 30 slideshows are actually individual video timelines. They were created and exported from Photosho Lightroom 3.
In Encore terminology, those are just videos - many Encore users choose to do slideshows as videos.
I had originally tried creating each one as a slideshow from within Encore, but I was DEEPLY dismayed by how slow Encore became, evetually locking up at least once per hour. It was ridiculous, even taking into account the fact that it is not a 64-bit program. I planned to leave 2 of the songs as Encore slideshows (Lightroom can't do Pan/Zoom), but in the end I had to replace them with mp4s because the slideshows just would not play. Really, it was about 11 wasted days plus 4 productive days to get me through the project!
Encore has a variety of problems with slideshows, but I suspect from your description that you were using very large images. Scaling them down a bit can improve performance. -
AE CS5 only see black when playing a rendered mov file in QT
AE CS5 Mac 10.6: After rendering a movie as Render:Best Settings / Output:Lossless I get an mov file (quite large, 193MB) - awesome thats what needs to happen. Now upon viewing that mov file within QT, I get the timer (8 seconds) and the playhead scrolls those 8 seconds, yet I see nothing - only darkness and utter black. Now on the flip: when I render this same file as Best Settings / H.264 and play the mp4 wha lah you get a smooth playing video. Downside, this file needs to be uncompressed and at the highest quality and playable in QT (a mov). Is the file too large for my machine to handle playing? Is this another QT vs AE bug? Anyone please, input is as alway greatly appreciated. Oh, 1 more piece of the puzzle: Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC Widesceen (1.21). This is a file to be played on an LED arena ribbon...

That wouldn't cause the file to play fine in some places and not elsewhere.
This is a gigantic file in terms of horizontal pixel dimensions, and the data rate is quite large, too (nearly 200MB for only 8 seconds). I suspect some combination of QuickTime Player and the computer on which you're trying to play it (e.g., slow hard disks).
Does it really matter whether this can play in QuickTime Player? We've seen that it plays in post-production software. Has the client tried playing it in the way that it will actually be played/used---i.e., on the LED screen at the arena?
And, again, are you and they really sure that this huge losslessly compressed format is what is required? As I said before, this is very much not the kind of format that is intended for playback and distribution. Uncompressed files and files compressed with Animation are intended for purposes like use as intermediate files in post-production, not playback.
