Cs5 export direct to dvd

I cannot seem to have any luck exporting direct to DVD bypassing Encore. I export to media, tried several selections but no output selection to dvd.

Hi,
There is no way to directly export to a DVD from Premiere. You've got to use Encore.
When exporting a file from the Export Settings dialog box for use in DVD or Blu-ray Disc creation, select the format appropriate for the target medium. For single-layer or dual-layer DVD, select MPEG2-DVD. For single-layer or dual-layer Blu-ray Disc, select either MPEG2 Blu-ray or H.264 Blu-ray.
Thanks!

  • Export Direct to DVD and Burn?

Is it possible in LR2 to export photos directly to a CD or DVD and then burn it, rather than copy all the photos to hard drive first?  If not, is it possible in LR3?

Here's what is possible in LR2:
    1. Select the files you want to burn to DVD.
    2. Choose Export
    3. Click the gray bar at the top of the dialog that probably says "Files on Disk".
    4. A pop-up will appear - choose Files on CD/DVD
    5. In the "Export To" pop up (under Export Location), choose Temporary Folder.
Although this still writes files to your hard drive, it will clean up once the files have been burned to CD/DVD.

  • Export from FCP directly into DVD studio pro?

Is it possible to export from FCP directly into DVD studio pro? If not, what is the preferred file format because my exported quicktime files come up as "incompatible format" when I try to add them into my DVD project. Any help is appreciated.

You need to encode audio as well from Compressor. You'll have 2 files - audio and video.

  • CS5: Bug when exporting directly from PPro with hardware MPE?

    For the record, I'm using:
    A GTX-480 (unsupported)
    The hardware MPE-enabling hack (unsupported)
The latest version of the nVidia drivers (257.whatever)
I discovered an issue, of sorts, when exporting directly from Premiere CS5, versus using the "Queue" option to send to AME. I was exporting from an NTSC DV Standard sequence to a 320x240 H.264, in which I had enable cropping and trimmed a bit off the sides and top and bottom of the source; the Output tab was summarily set to "Scale to Fit". With hardware MPE enabled in the Project Settings, the export would be the proper final dimensions (320x240), but any area that was cropped off was instead padded with black. The actual video content was then squeezed and malformed into the area not occupied by the black bars.
I found that, if I disabled hardware MPE or sent the export through AME by use of the Queue button (instead of Export), then the export was performed properly--the video was cropped correctly and then the video stretched to the borders of the exported video, maintaining the desired aspect ratio.
As I mentioned at the outset, I'm breaking a couple rules and perhaps tempting fate with others, but before I go about rolling back my drivers and the like, has anyone noticed a similar issue?
ADDENDUM: By the way, the export doesn't need to come from a sequence. If I load up a source clip into the Source Monitor, and export from there using the process outlined above, I get the same issue. This would seem to indicate, to me, that this is due to some incompatibility with my card, its driver and hardware MPE...

Did he demo renders or exports?
About 11 minutes in, he [Dave] demos accelerated H.264 renders.
    Harm Millaard wrote:
AFAIK MPE only works with renders, not with encoding.
Well, he did both, actually--but the quote above is a typo on my part. I meant to say "exports" or "encodes." The last couple minutes of the aforementioned demo video are dedicated to exporting a sequence directly from Premiere, and having the benefit of hardware MPE. That's where I'm getting the issue I've outlined above; with hardware MPE enabled, and using the "Export" versus AME "Queue" button/function, I get the strange black outline. With software MPE or through AME, all is well.

  • Why won't FCP X burn the menu background image when sharing directly to DVD?

At one point recently I was able to drop in a jpg file so that FCP X would display this image in the menu background when a disc is burned directly out of FCP X when sharing directly to DVD. It worked at first, and then I decided I needed a higher quality image, but this one won't burn. My DVD now just has a black menu background. I can't figure out why this is happening. Please help! I'm using a late 2008 MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz 15" with OS 10.8.4. FCP X is up to date as well. My harddrive is fairly full in case that might cause some errors. Are there any specs on what type and size an image FCP wants for this function? Thanks for any help!
    Gregg

Thank you, reducing the image size worked! I had used a low res file before, and with success decided to increase the resolution/size, and then it didn't work. the image did appear in small preview in the export panel, but wouldn't burn when all was said and done. the dimensions you gave worked fine. unfortunately, it makes the image a little bit fuzzy, but i dont think i can do anything about this. at least it burned it in there. thanks!

  • Best Export Settings for DVD burning and Computer viewing

    Hello,
I am trying to export a 1 hour video that I need to be compatible with standard DVD players as well as viewable on any computer.
Original footage was shot with a Canon 5d Mark ii in 24fps.
I have done all of my editing in Premiere Pro CS6. From there, I exported a high quality file to bring into Media Encoder (for trials of best output). My master file from Premiere was exported with the Preset MPEG2. The only thing I changed in the preset was VBR from 1 pass to 2 pass.. This gave me a 6.2 GB file.
I then brought that file into Media Encoder where I have tried the following presets:
    MPEG2-DVD - Match Source Attributes
    MPEG2-DVD - NTSC 23.976fps Widescreen High Quality
    MPEG2 - HDTV 720p 23.976 High Quality
MPEG2 - NTSC DV High Quality
These settings have encountered various issues.. some have significant banding, but most importantly, none of them will play on my DVD player when I burn them to a disc.
The discs I am using are Sony DVD-RW with a 4.7GB capacity.
Where am I going wrong here? From what I've read, the format needs to be MPEG2 to be viewed on DVD... Sorry if I sound ignorant! This stuff is tricky..

First off, don't export your timeline and then take the result to AME to re-encode, this is compressing your video twice and degrading quality (not to mention takes extra time and hard drive space). Always export direct from Premiere to Media Encoder. If you must use an "intermediate" file as part of your workflow, perhaps to archive a completed video that might later be exported to other formats, then use a lossless codec such as UT or Lagarith (free downloads).
For DVDs, you MUST use "MPEG-2 DVD". Other forms of MPEG-2 are not appropriate, as the official DVD specification requires that the MPEG-2 file has certain attributes. Not recommended to use "Match Source" for ANY export, just choose an appropriate setting as needed.
This should be correct for your application - MPEG-2 DVD > NTSC 23.976fps Widescreen High Quality
If you want to encode a DVD file over 1 hour in length, then you will need to adjust the encoding bitrate so the resulting file will fit the disc. Rule of thumb is 560/minutes = bitrate, but you might round down the result a bit to allow for menu overhead and such, depending.
Once you export the "MPEG-2 DVD" file, you can NOT simply burn that file to DVD media. That is only creating a DATA disc and it will not be playable in a DVD player (though a computer or PS3/PS4 may work since they can play most media files). To make a DVD that works in all DVD players (and meets the spec), it MUST be "authored" in a program like Adobe Encore. This compiles your content and menus and all that and then writes the result to the disc in certain way so that DVD players can read the disc. If you open any DVD on your computer, you will see a folder called "VIDEO_TS" and inside that there are .vob files and others. That is a proper DVD. And once you have a proper DVD, you can't simply copy the VIDEO_TS to another disc (as DATA), you must tell the burning software to create as a "VIDEO DVD" and not DATA, or it again won't be readable in a DVD player. Very picky spec, sorry.
When using AME to export MPEG-2 DVD, it will create two files, audio and video (.m2v and .wav), you will then Import both of those into Encore together. Note that you CAN import other formats into Encore, such as .avi but Encore will then transcode that to the correct MPEG-2 format anyway, so best that you take charge and create the right media in the first place in AME before you get to Encore.
EDIT: In AME, any time that your source is higher resolution than the destination, such as HD to DVD, you can check the "Max Render Quality" button in AME to provide the best downscale quality.
EDIT 2: I see you're using DVD-RW media. That is fine for experimenting, but for delivery to clients always use good quality DVD-R or DVD+R media. DVD-RW may not have the best compatibility with players and costs more anyways. DVDs are so cheap now that I just proof to DVD-R and toss the bad ones, up to you.

  • IMovie Export Settings to DVD

    Hello
Would someone be able to let me know what the best settings are for exporting to DVD from iMovie 08 to iDVD?
Is it best to publish or export as a quicktime movie .mov/.dv. The reason being is I am finding that when i publish the quality of the DVD isnt that good and the file size seems rather low. Im shooting on Sony Handycams but also Sony HVR-Z1 so the quality should be good.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Glen.

    Hi friends,
I have such a problem with my Imovie project. Its true that I have IMac not a long time but I heard that the system is great. I bought it because of functions that have inside like Imovie. I made my first project in Imovie and I wanted to export it to dvd. What I get was an unacceptable (****) quality. I've made import movies from brand new FULL HD Sony camcorder so it should be increable quality like by HDMI cable conected directly to the FULL HD LCD TV. I'm talking about EXPORTING not IMPORTING movies because imported movies was a HD quality. The problems started when I tried to burn the project to DVD. The quality was unacceptable. May anyone help me with that PLEASE ??? ONES AGAIN MY QUESTION IS - HOW CAN I MAKE A HD OR DVD QUALITY MOVIE FROM IMOVIE PROJECT WHICH MOVIES FILS WAS DOWNLOADED FROM SONY FULL HD CAMCORDER ??? Sorry to bother You but 2 hours talk with Imac support didn't get any useful information - What I heard is "MAYBE MAX QUALITY IS 920*540 BUT HE WASN'T SURE" so no useful at all. I can't find it anywhere even with manuals, or like I said, with a Imac support. PLEASE HELP IF YOU MAY ... My home email is [email protected] Best Regards Andrzej

When exporting to a DVD from Final Cut Pro X, what settings are there to make sure you making the highest quality DVD possible?

There have been a lot of recent reports of difficulties sharing to DVD, but haven't been hearing about unreadable disks. Posibly there was an encoding error. Or it could have been bad media (blank disk).
Does it play in your Mac?
What brand of disks are you using?

  • Problem with Direct to DVD VRD-MC6: Playback width wrong

I made a DVD copy of a tape in my Sony Digital 8 Handicam DCR-TRV310, using an iLink cable, to my Direct to DVD VRD-MC6.  Play back of the DVD in my Sony Blue Ray DVD player BDP-BX510 on my Sony KDL-46WL140 Bravia TV was stretched width wise, distorted.  Adjusting the width setting on the TV did not fix it.  Play back from the camera directly to the TV is fine. Proper 4:3.  How do I fix this? Will the VRD-MC6 Direct to DVD make a proper 4:3 aspect ratio copy from my Digital 8 Handicam?

  • When to use import and export directives?

I'm very confused about what the import and export language extensions do and when one should use them.
I have a Bridge application with multiple source files. As long as I don't call code in another file from the startup execution path (before all source files are loaded) and only call across modules after Bridge is running (e.g. from events in Bridge), I don't seem to need import and export. All source files seem to be in the same namespace and all can see each other's global objects/functions.
So, when would someone use import or export? And, what is the #engine that the manual discusses in relation to import and export? If some of my source files are library files that I intend to be used by multiple different files/applications, should I be using import/export for that use? Or is this only applicable when there are somehow multiple JavaScript engines involved? And when would that situation arise?
    --John

    John,
The import and export directives don't really matter in Bridge. All scripts execute in the same namespace. That's why namespacing your scripts is crucial in Bridge.
The #engine directive creates another JavaScript engine instance containing the script with the directive. If you then wanted to use stuff from that engine, the import and export directives would be needed. But even with that, in Bridge, the main engine will contain the script. There will just be a second engine (you can see this in the ESTK) containing the same stuff. Since it's in the main engine, there's no point in using the import and export.
Some of the other apps, GoLive, for instance, each script executes in its own engine and namespace. And import and export are needed.
This could change in future versions, and if it does, we'll be certain to make sure everyone knows about it.

  • DV camera signal direct to DVD?

I would like to burn video in real time, directly from my DV camera to a DVD. I can't seem to do this in iMovie or iDVD.
iMovie seems to want to save the video to the hard drive, but not to a DVD. It then takes 15 minutes and several steps to get the video to DVD.
iDVD will only take video from a tape inserted in the camcorder - it won't just take the camcorder signal and burn directly to DVD.
Hopefully I'm just missing something. If not, anyone have any suggestions?
I'm using a Cannon video camera and firewire connection to my MacBookPro.
    Thanks

iDVD will only take video from a tape inserted in the camcorder - it won't just take the camcorder signal and burn directly to DVD.
Try this instead of starting a new project use a QT movie / folder saved to your desktop and then follow these 2 steps below:
Btw .... the only way i know of making a dvd in real time is to use a dvd player/recorder with digital FW input. Connect your minidv camcorder/camera via i.Link (4 pin to 4 pin) and record directly to DVD-R like this:
It's best not to have any time code breaks whatsoever within your movie when using iDvd'08.
However, the nice thing about the second approach is that my own Dvd Recorder will record just about any dv or analog source and it could care less about time code breaks. It records the Dvd every time regardless of time codes.
A third option I should mention is using Toast which also allows burning directly to Dvd-R (although not quite as fast as the second option I listed above).
And lastly, I've burned directly to Dvd-R via i.Link on our PC also (however it takes twice as long as our mac/s even though its clock speed is nearly twice as fast and is an intel dual core cpu).
Hope one of these approaches works for you also. It does for me. Good luck!

  • Exporting Subtitle from DVD Studio Pro

Is there a way to export subtitles from DVD Studio Pro or Is there a tool somewhere that will generate an STL file from a DVD Studio Pro subtitle stream?
    Thanks for your help!

Yes, other than the manual -- which I have exhausted. It gave me the coding for a text-based caption, and the coding for a graphic, but not the coding that would put both on the same clip (same time value).
However, I can manually go into the subtitle inspector and add whatever element (the text or the graphic) each with its own offsets, and have them appear flawlessly together. I am convinced there must be coding that generates this effect I can use in the STL file, but I have found nothing on the web, nor any of several downloaded manuals (including pp. 456 - 460).
    Any advice?
