CS5 export to transparent png - not working

I have tried every think I know to get a png optimized transparently though fireworks cs5. I have read prior forum post, and watched several tutorials indicating ways to do this and when i try they do not work.
I created the image in photoshop and exported it to a png file. Then i opened it in fireworks in an attempt to make the png much smaller. The image will be overlaying a patterned background on the web so needs to be totallly transparent. I've tried every combination of export option and still, when I put the image in my site there is a white background.
Ive tried png-8 with alpha transparency and changed the matte to nothing. The main window in fireworks never gets rid of the white background and when i export it's still white on my site.
I've tried png-32 with both alpha and index.
When i use the png exported from photoshop on my site it looks exactly how I want it, but the file size it too large so that's why Im putting it in fireworks but when i export it from there it's not transparent.

Sorry, i was not certain about your level...
You may be interested in knowing that another tool optimizes png files beyond what Fireworks can do - and I would avoid Photoshop's abysmal png export for production. As you are probably aware of, Photoshop's web export does not allow us to save an indexed png file with full transparency - something FW was always good at.

It allows for png files with full transparency to be saved with limited colour palettes exceeding 256 colours! With CQ you can optimize png files to the fullest, while still retaining an excellent visual quality, since you can optimize easily to a limited palette of, for example, 512 or 1024 (or a custom number of colours). Extremely useful.
It also optimizes the transparent areas, and will automatically remove any bitmap data from those areas (which are not visible).
And, even better, a simple quality mask brush tool assures you have maximum control over the inclusion of even tiny splotches of colour you wish to retain.
I have long left FW behind for my png optimization, because of CQ. It's brilliant, and still somewhat of a hidden gem. Try it out, you might be pleasantly surprised. And it's a free download.

Transparent PNG not working in Snow Leopard w Final Cut 3.5&4

I recently changed from a G5 mac to a Mac Pro. I had FCE HD 3.5 which supposedly is not supported in Snow leopard..although it did work.
Anyways, when dragging a PNG or PICT image to the base video layer, then dragging a transparent background(white)character image to a layer on top of that...I remember when i was in Macos X Tiger with FCE 3.5, after selecting the top layer and setting composite mode to SCREEN.. it would perfectly make the white background transparent. Awesome..
Well that hasn't worked since i switched to Snow leoplard. I thought it was a problem because i had FCE 3.5 so i bought FCE 4 yesterday
So i decided to upgrade and still doesn't work.
Instead of getting a transparent BG.. the top video layer where i placed the PNG image of a character with a white bg still has the white bg..and the inside of the character is semi transparent..
not what i want.
I even tried the new feature in FCE 4 where you go to Modify and Sepect ALPHA white. and that didn't work either.
What's going on.. ONly specific PNG formats have transparency in FCE???
By the way I'm exporting PNG out of a 3D program called DAZ Studio 3.That program doesn't have the ability to export as Animation CODEC( like in poser)or any other codec for that matter. it only exports movies as MOV or image series PNG or single PNG images.

Here is a correctly formated PNG file with transparency.
You can download it to test in your sequence by Control-Clicking and selecting "Download Linked File As . . ." from the drop down menu [HERE|http://www.spotsbeforeyoureyes.com/Test.png]
You simply need to place it on a video track above any other clip to see if the effect works or not.
Please post if this graphic works for you.

Transparency does not work.

Following code does not give me transparency beyond the circle. Circle is placed in the white square.... Whats strange is that if I run my application as Web Start, i get the transparency. In Standard Execution mode it does not work... NetBeans 6.8, JavaFX 1.2.1, Java 1.6u17 Windows 7 x64.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing on your iPhone. It sounds like you are not noticing transparency on your iPhone. It may be that you have "Increase Contrast" turned on in your iPhone settings.
I recommend verifying that Increase Contrast is turned off in Settings>General>Accessibility.

Trim Transparency is not working in Photoshop

I have a few of layers that have transparency, and I want to save them out as Transparent PNGs. For whatever reason when I saved it as a transparent PNG it is exporting it bigger than it should. It doesnt trim them to the non trasparent pixels, instead it renders them out at full size. I used both Save As and Save for Web… commands, and neither are trimming the files. When I tried File>Scripts>Export Layers To Files…, 5 out of 6 work perfectly when exported as PNG, but only once. I used layers mask on the layers and I check this last layer multiple times even floodin it with black and then marqueed a random area in white, and it still exports it at canvas size and WONT crop the images to just the visible pixels. Basically it is NOT ollowing the Alpha.
What is going on? I am in Photohosp CS6, and I am experiencing this issue on both MAC OS X and Windows.

Well it just did it, just not for one of my layers. So you telling all this time I have been exploiting a glitch, that has been working in my favor? lol

The multiple Body parts that are selected all the right sizes the BODY layer is LOCKED!!!!!
All of the OTHER layers are now LOCKED and the body layer is selected, and as you can see the border is WAY TO BIG!!!!!

Any idea why PNG not working in QT Pro?

I'm trying to place a simple transparent PNG as a copyright notice in a short QT movie and it's not working. The type is white, the background is transparent, and it opens and imports as a black rectangle with white type and it will not go transparent. I have tried Straight Alpha, invert, ... blah blah blah! I created the PNG in photoshop and have tried white background, black background, no background, layers no layers, transparent and no layers, everything! I then save as PNG and it just does not work!!
View Properties and select track of course.... just stays black! I am using 10.6.6 and QT Pro 7

Yes. I use the "Straight Alpha Blend" option to vary the transparency of the watermark. Default is 50%. Moving the slider varies the transparency effect.
but the PNG still has a blk bkgrd with white type. I cannot get the blk bkgrd to go away.

Here is a link to an old tutorial I made for SJAUG (South Jersey Apple User Group). While it is somewhat old, it still demonstrates what I am getting on all of my systems. You will note that as soon as I add the PNG to the clip, it also displays "strangely," but as soon as I start manipulating/playing the clip, the display corrects itself.

Transparent Watermark not working, background turns white

I have been sent a TIFF logo for a company and need to watermark some photos. I would like to do this via LR. I have version 4.4.
I loaded the file into PS6, in order to change it to a Jpeg OR PNG.... to upload into the LR watermark edit area.
I am unable to find PNG as an option in the "Save As" menu. So I tried "Save for Web".. I was able to save the file as a PNG, and when opened off the desktop, it does appear to be transparent. However, when uploaded into LR watermark graphic area... it suddenly has a white background again.
I am seriously ripping my hair out. I have watched a zillion tutorial and read a bunch of recommendations... and it's still not working.... HELP ME PLEASE. There is obviously some little detail or setting that isn't the same...
NOTE---> Not option for PNG in Save As menu....
SAVING AS PNG IN THE "SAVE FOR WEB" MENU... (I also tried selecting PNG-24) .. neither worked.
THE "TRANSPARENT" PNG File as it appears as a watermark.....

It already is in RGB... tried that... still no SAVE AS menu..... Also tried as 8bit and 16 bit....

Crystal report 10 export to MAPI does not work in Windows 7

I am using CR10 10.0.5.1025 in Windows 7. I tried to export a report to MAPI and got error:
Error 2147500037 returned by function <MAPIResolveName>
This error occurs both Office 2007 and 2003

PROBLEM:   He has a MAPI error Error when exporting PDF to MAPI.

Microsoft decided to no longer support the 'Simple MAPI' email system in Windows 7. Although countless applications use it to manage emails, including 2ic Pallets, a replacement system has not been provided.
So Windows 7 users have two options:
Manually create email messages by copying and pasting information from the '2icEmail.txt' file that is created whenever there is an emailing error, i.e. every time you try emailing with Windows 7.
Downgrade the ' C:\Windows\System32\Mapi32.dll ' file to an earlier version, i.e. replace Mapi32.dll with the same file from a Windows Vista or XP computer.
Downgrading seems to work ok. Mapi32.dll on Windows 7 has version number 1.0.2536.0, which is the same as Mapi32.dll on Windows Vista and XP. However, downgrade AT YOUR OWN RISK and check with your system administrator before making any changes.
It is strongly recommended to rename the existing Mapi32.dll file rather than delete it so it can be restored if you find other programs do not work after downgrading. To downgrade, follow the steps below:
Open Windows Explorer, navigate to ' C:\Windows\System32   ' (or ' C:\Windows\SysWOW64 ' for 64 bit operating systems), find Mapi32.dll and rename it to Mapi32.dll.OLD or Mapi32.dll.2ic. If you receive the message "You require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file." or some other permissions-related error, change the Owner of the file and permissions before trying again, i.e. right-click on Mapi32.dll, select Properties, Security tab, click Advanced, Owner tab, click Edit..., select "Administrators", OK the dialog boxes, again right-click on Mapi32.dll, select Properties, Security tab, click Edit, select "Administrators", allow Full Control and OK the dialog boxes. Run the 'Email patch' from the Downloads - Utilities page of this website. This patch installs and registers the files below.

Note they are only installed when missing or replacing an older version. For 64 bit operating systems these files are updated in the 'C:\Windows\SysWOW64' folder. Alternatively these files can be manually copied from a different computer and registered using Regsvr32.
The email functionality can be checked using the 'Export/email test spreadsheet', also available on the Downloads - Utilities page. Using this spreadsheet to generate an email on Windows 7 before downgrading should result in an error message. Emailing should work after running the patch.
RESULT:       I fixed the problem customer PC. TEST and Verification are fonctionnal.

Export excel option is not working in test environment in Firefox.

In our application 'export excel' option is present in 4 different pages. All the excels working in development environment in both IE and FF. In testing env, all the excels working fine in
IE. But only two excels are working in FF in testing env. Remaining not working and 'The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading' error page appears when we click on 'export excel' button. Can any one help on this issue...

You can do one of the following:
Select the table in Firefox and then copy it to the clipboard. In Excel do Paste Special and select either 'Unicode text' or 'text' to copy it into Excel.
Use the Table2Clipboard extension. This will provide the Right-Click menu option, it will copy the data into the clipboard and you can then paste the selection into Excel.

CR Viewer tool bar images are missing; Export and Print are not working

I used Crystal report 10.5(VS 2008 base crytal report -- CRRedist2008_x86.msi), i developed ASP.net application using VB.net program(i used .net 3.5). One of the pages in the application is having crystal report viewer, which is calling a crystal report to populate the result. The report is working as expected on development machine (Win Vista). Hence, I moved the application onto Server (Windows Server Web; 32Bit OS and IIS). I installed the CRRedist2008_x86.msi, which added the "aspnet_client" under default website. As my site is a made as an application under default webiste. I tried...
a) By copying the aspnet_client folder into the website folder
b) By adding a virtual directory called "aspnet_client" under my website pointing it into the folder under "default website"
None of the trials are working for me.
When I click on Print or Export buttons (although their images are missing), I get the error sigh on bottom left (status bar) of the browser and the popping up the same giving me below error details

Hello All.
I am excited to let you know that the issue is being resolved.
Here is steps that lead me to resolution and solution..
I installed Fiddler2 and looked into every the debugging details of the transaction while running the report.
Learned that the crystal report is using the aspnet_client foler under "Default website" NOT under the crrent website.
Hence I tried to access the image via http path from local machine
http://myserver/aspnet_client/system_web/2_0_50727/CrystalReportWebFormViewer4/images/toolbar/export.gif.
(Notice, "mysite" folder is been removed)
I was expecting to see the gif on my browsers' body. It gave me an error.
Investigated further more on the error and found that the "Managed Pipe Line" of the respective application pool is to be changed to "Classic" instead of "Integrated"
changed it .. Boom...
Tool bar is showing up with proper images and as well the "Export" and "Print" functions are working as expected..
Hope this helps to those in the same situation.
Again.. this is one of many many solutions on this issues.

PNG not working - please help

i have several PNGs that are having errors. they will not open up in windows photo gallery. the error is something about format or version.
i have tried several different things.
opened up in PS working files, pasted into a working file the non working image. and resaved back out. did not work.
opened non working file in PS and saved out as a tif. then again as a png. nothing.
i dont understand this. it opens in PS fine, i can save it back out. or even palce the image in a working file then save it back out....
anyone have a clue? ....i need this file to work!

Service Process Monitor export to excel is not working

Hi,
The Tx. CRM_SRV_REPORT ( Service -> Service Process Monitor) is not working.
When you try to export to Excel (press button Excel (CtrlshiftF7) is not working. However, this button in other transaction is working, for example Activity Monitor.
Any idea?

I have a .gif image with index transparency, which shows up
as I'd expect (i.e. with correct transparency) when incorporated
into a web page. However, the transparency does NOT show up in my
Flash swf. In ActionScript, I am using the Loader to load the
image, and the Bitmapdata that comes from this DOES have the
transparent property set to TRUE (I can see this in the debugger).
However, the transparency doesn't work. Thanks for any advice!

I realized what I was doing wrong. I wasn't calling
new BitmapData
with the transparency parameter and fillColor parameters.
Sorry to take up room on the board with something that should have
been obvious!

Export in backup assistant not working

My Verizon Export function for contacts in backup assistant is not functioning. It prompts to pick backup export action, e.g.to computer, gmail, etc. and it is supposed to give compatible format, e.g., CSV. Ony the pick format yourself work, but there is no continue button, only a close button for the dialog window. It does not work for anything.
