CS5 Extended Crashing Repeadtedly when Importing Video to Layers

Hi, I would really apprechiate some help in this matter. I have looked just about everywhere for an answer but, alas I cannot seem to find one. Every time I try to Import Video File to Layers my PS crashes instantaneously. It's so odd. I switched over to make gifs better and I can make them with separate pictures but that is a hassle. They only time my PS crashes is when I try to import the video. I get to choose the file and right before I click open it crashes every single time.
I am using a Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard.
2.4 hz intel core 2 duo
2gb ram
Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
  Type: GPU
  Bus: PCI
  VRAM (Total): 256 MB
That's all I really know what to look for. I really would apprechiate anyones insight as to what is going on.
Thank you,
Ryan

Yes, everything has been updated and no luck. Here is the crash log well it was a pretty huge log so this is the first big part.

  • Is there a size limit when importing videos?

Is there a size limit when importing videos into iTunes (8)? I have a 4+ gig video file I'm trying to import, but when I drag/drop it into the movies, nothing happens. It works fine with smaller files.
    thanks

ah I see something in other forums about a Windows size limit of 4 gigs, so I guess that answers it.
    thanks

  • Audio problem when importing video files.

    Hello everyone,
I just started using FCP X a few days ago for a university project and I seem to encounter an audio problem when importing videos in .mp4, .mov format or via the import from camera option.
Indeed I need to import videos in .mp4 and .mov format into FCP X. The import in itself is normal I can see my videos into the events/clips library and if I play them from the library I can hear the sound quite perfectly.
However, when I want to edit my videos and put it in the timeline, there is no audio. As a result I started to think that my videos could be the problem so I tried the option "import from camera" option using the Isight camera of my macbook pro but the same things happened. I could hear the sound from the events/clips library but not from the timeline (I can't see any audiowaves in the timeline).
I found a solution using quicktime and extracting the audio of the video in .m4a then importing the videos files and the audi files corresponding but it's a long process and a waste of time  as FCP X should be able to import the audio of my video into the timeline directly. Especially if it can read it from events/clips library.
I hope I explained myself clearly and you could help me resolve my problem.
    Cheers
    Christophe
    PS: I'm using FCP X version 10.0

    Update to 10.0.5.
You have an incorrect setting when you edit. Try trashing your preferences. Post screen shots of your timeline and toolbar.

  • My laptop got unplugged and died when importing video..

my battery is kind of dead and won't hold a charge, and when importing video from a canon hdv hv20, my macbook pro got unplugged and died. now i have some phantom space missing on my hard drive..where can i find it?how do i delete it?please any help.

In the Movies/iMovie Events folder, you may find a folder with the Event Name that you were importing into. You can move this folder to the trash and start over. You may need to empty the trash.
If you had other video in this same Event Name, be really careful or you may lose it, too.
You should be able to reimport the video from your Canon.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer Crashes when Importing Video Files

I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 10 to 12.  Now if I import any of my videos, they import onto the hard drive but as soon as Elements tries to bring them into the catalog, Photoshop Crashes.  When I re-open the Organizer, it crashes as soon as it processes my files.  If I delete the video file from my hard drive, then it doesn't crash.  I have lots of videos that were imported under Photoshop Elements 10 and they don't cause any problems.
I uninstalled Elements and re-installed but that didn't help.
I deleted my preferences but that didn't help.
I updated to 12.1 but that didn't help.

I have checked on another Windows 8.1 computer and it doesn't have problems so it isn't a general problem with Windows 8.1.
Also, it isn't a problem with that particular catalog (That catalog worked on my other computer and I get the error with a new catalog)
I re-downloaded Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package  and updated it since that seems to be what MSVCR100.dll is used for but that didn't help.
I get the problem with .MTS and .MT2S (AVCHD) video files but don't have the problem with .MP4 files.
I tried with a Safe Boot but I still have the problem.
I did a file cleanup using CCleaner but that didn't help either.
I ran System Mechanic to fix registry problems but that didn't help either.
I tried disabling my Norton Antivirus and Firewall but that didn't help.

I do not have any version of Premiere Elements installed.
I never removed any files.  This is a clean installation from a couple months ago when I got my new hard drive.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 constantly crashes when importing video files

I have not used Premiere Pro in a while, but recently when I tried to import video files (from .m4v, .mp4 and .mov) the program stops working, the "importing" window doesn't progress and I get the rainbow wheel of "death".
I read some other posts where some are having similar situations and some users suggested moving the file from an external hard-drive to an internal one (I have a 1TB external hard-drive) but that didn't do squat either.
Once the program is frozen I'm forced to "force quit" the program.
Does anyone know what I can do?

I am having the same problems, but my program locks up when trying to playback .MTS files that are shot natively on my GH2.  It will not render or export anything & when you try and scrub or playback footage it gets the spinning wheel of death.  To finish my last project, I had to transcode all the .MTS files to .MP4 files and it worked fine.  Also, anytime I shut down PP, I have to force quit the program for it to shut down.  Here are the detailed info you asked for...
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).Premiere Pro CC (trial) 7.1.0 - 141 (because I uninstalled CS5, 5.5, & 6 thinking they may be the problems.
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.) YES, up to date
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac”. OSX 10.9
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime”..MTS files from a GH2
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?It tells me that it is an unknown error (I do not have a copy of the original error message)
What were you doing when the problem occurred?Trying to playback (wheel of death), Trying to Render and export (starts rendering, then just sits there and then gives the unknown error)
Has this ever worked before?I have worked on this projects for a few months, then just out of the blue it started with these problems about 1 week ago.
What other software are you running?none
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?some from Video Copilot and Plural eyes 3 (NOT used on this project)
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
    iMac 27in Mid 2011 3.4 Intel Core i7 16 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 AMD Radeon HD6970M 2048 MB OSX 10/9 (13A603)
No external devices, except a external hard drive.  I changed from a Thunderbolt Seagate 1TB (single 7200 RPM) to a Drobo Mini 2 TB RAID 5 in the MIDDLE of this problem, thinking the issue was the drive was to slow to keep up - NOT the case… it still happens with the new drive.
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?I am not completely sure to be honest - I believe it is the factory settings.
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?both!

  • IMovie crashes when importing video

    iMovie crashes when importing video

I agree with Keydogg. Here it is step-by-step.
Try a "File Import" instead of "Camera Import":
    _ Quit iMovie '09
_ Create a folder in your desktop & name it "Flip_videos"
_ Mount your Flip camera to the Mac
_ Copy your video files from the camera to the "Flip_videos" folder in your desktop
_ *Eject / Disconnect* your Flip camera from the Mac
    _ Launch iMovie '09
_ *Go to* "File > Import > Movies..."
_ Browse to the "Flip_videos" folder, Select "Create New Event"
    _ Click Import
Let me know if that helps!

  • Organizer crashes when importing videos

After installing Premiere Elements 12, I have problems importing videos (MTS from a CamCorder) in organizer.
The first 3 to 6 videos are imported and thumbnails generated. But then no thumbnail is generated and the program
seems to hang. When I close the organizer it hangs around in task manager. If I do not close it, it will crash after a while.
    What can I do?
    Kind regards, Nick

  • Photoshop CS3 crashes when importing video frames to layers.

This is perhaps not the correct place to post this, but I am new to the forums, as you can see.
I saw that there was a post about this sometime last year, and I tried all the methods offered to fix the problem, but none helped.
Each time I make an attempt to import video frames to layers, I get as far as the "select range to import" screen, and then when I select the range and click ok, it says "Adobe Photoshop has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly." And then it closes.
My operating system is Windows XP, the photoshop type I use is CS3 as I mentioned before, and I have installed Quicktime 7.3.5.
I checked one of the files I tried to use with the Mediainfo program as suggested, and got the following:
    Format: MPEG-4
    Format profile: Quicktime
    Codec ID: qt
    File size: 176 MiB
    Duration: 18mn 33s
Overall bit rate: 1 327 Kbps
    Writing application: Lavf53.24.2
Hopefully this is enough information for someone out there to help me, because I haven't the slightest idea how to fix it. Thank you in advance.

Convert the file in ffmpeg/ MPEGStreamclip or another tool or export it from Quicktime Pro using anotehr CoDec. PS just sucks at dealing with these compressed files and using such an old version doesn't help with contemporary digital video from a camera...

  • IPhoto/iMovie crashes when importing video

Whenever I try to import a video into iPhoto, it crashes.
    Same thing with iMovie.
I first thought it was a problem with my quicktime installation, so I reinstalled Quicktime 7. To no avail.
I also thought it was linked to the fact that I had once installed an audio component to divert audio from other apps, soundflower. So I also disinstalled it, also to no avail.
iPhoto and iMovie keep crashing whenever I import a video, from whatever source (camera, hard drive, etc.).
    Thanks for any help.

    Thread 1:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.libdispatch-manager

Sorry, I should have read another thread, which explains how to solve the problem:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16694650#16694650
Namely, remove folder HAL from /Library/audio/plug-ins.

  • Photoshop CS5 Extended crashing on Windows Vista.

I've just installed Photoshop on my system. My video drivers and everything are up to date. Video card is NVidia GeForce 7050/ nForce 620i and it shows as compatible on the Photoshop tested cards list.
Photoshop CS5 Extended opens fine and dandy. But whenever I try to do anything it crashes. Tried scanning a document via the Photoshop import, scan starts, goes to open the scanned object, crashes. Tried opening a new document. Set my document preferences, click ok, Photoshop crashes... Try to open an existing image, the image starts to open, Photoshop crashes... I think you get the picture.. but I don't LOL.....
I have the event viewer log and it is as follows:
On the General Tab it states:

I'm at a loss..... Does anyone have a flashlight to help me find my way out of this deep dark cave? LOL
    Thanks in advance.

Latest is not always greatest with video drivers, ESPECIALLY from nVidia.
    1.  They apparently don't put too much effort into supporting older hardware.
    2.  The MUCH larger video game market has them all scrambling to improve their latest and greatest offerings to improve the frame rate in Crysis or whatever, and they don't seem all that interested in Photoshop users.

  • Premiere CS6 Hangs when Importing Video from P2 Camera

I just bought Premiere CS6.  I am a Final Cut Pro refugee, running Mac OS Snow Leopard.
So far (day 1) I am having three serious problems, one major, one less so, and one intermediary.
First, when I try to import video off my P2 camera using the Media Browser, Premiere hangs.  When I force quit, a dialog box briefly pops up saying that a "serious error" has occured.  If I can't load my video into Premiere, this is a serious problem.
    Is this a known issue?
Second, when I view the contents of my P2 card in the media browser, the order of the clips is totally jumbled.
If I can get the media browser import function to work, is there a way to view the clips in the order in which they were shot?
Third, I tried to "ingest" my clips through Prelude, which just copied the whole arcane folder structure of the P2 card onto my local hard disk.  I could do this in the Mac OS Desktop and I really don't see the point of Prelude.  I would rather not navigate the arcane P2 folder structure, and I need something that will take my video out of Panasonic's .mxf wrapper file.
I've noticed that I can drag the .mxf files directly into Premiere, but is there a way to import my video that will also extract the files from the .mxf wrapper, so that I can also open the files in other software?
I downloaded the Premiere CS6 updater but it didn't help.
Together, these issues represent serious defects that cripple my ability to use this software.

Im have the exact same issue with the importing or P2 files and premere crashing/ hagingup, i on the other hand have been using adobe for over 4 years and never had this issue, i still have CS5 on comp and there are no problems there, kinda silly i cant use CS6 for work....
so what did you exactly do to fix issue??
also i know exactly what porblem u are running into with the aspect ratio problems, been an issue for as long as i have been working with adobe premere and HVX, and i can help u there, simply dont use DVCproHD sequence if you are going to DVD just do a DV widscreen sequence and all the ratio problems will fix when u go to encore. or use DVCproHD sequence but drop the entire sequence you worked on into a DV widscreen sequence or an HDV sequence and resize acordingly (make lager or smaler so fits properly in 16/9) the problem is some of the P2 cameras are not a true 16/9 there like 15/9 or somthing, its odd, anyway thats what i do, it doesnt really ad much time and it workes
Dear adobe plp if you read this, then you know about problem importing, whatever he did dosnt seem like you should have to do that... any questions feel free to contact me.
