CS5 Extended, update 12.01 issue

I just bought CS5 Extended (After returning regular, due to needing video support and Adobe broke that out after CS2) as an update to CS2.
I had installed CS5 regular and update 12.01 and it was working (mostly anyway).
I tried to install extended over the top of regular and that didn't work, so I uninstalled all photoshop products, then installed CS5 extended. Photoshop started right up.
After I went into the help, I told it to install patches, including 12.01 (but NOT the manager software at this time, I had a problem with that in regular CS5).
After 12.01 was installed (and Camera Raw 6.02) I got the error at start up that the forum describes with the not being able to access memory, which the 12.01 patch appears to have been the fix for.
I worked around the problem for now by uninstalling the entire Photoshop package again and re-installing CS5 extened, but NO updates. At this point CS5 Extended starts up.
My temporary solution is not to install Update 12.01
The machine specs: Toshiba Laptop Satellite P30, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.60 GHZ (hyperthreading dual core) 2GB RAM ATI Mobility Radeon X600 Win XP Professional SP3 about 12GB available disk space at install.

make sure all adobe applications are closed, acrobat bridge photoshop etc.
check on task manager>processes
sort by description
be sure no half closed adobe apps are running in the background.
look for photoshop.exe
look for bridge.exe
look for PDapp.exe
look for CS5Servicemanager.exe
If you see them in processes end task them, then try.

Since installing it, I've been trying to update it and it errors out saying "Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product..." when installing an upgrade or upsell" what does this mean? It's a legit copy. I just need it to talk to my LR properly. How can I fix this?

It means what it says. But I'm not clear on what exact steps you're taking to get that error message. Can you elaborate?

Windows7, Photoshop CS5 Extended, updating not possible

I had a lot of problems with Photoshop and Camera Raw, so I uninstalled everything and reinstalled CS5. Now I can't do the Update of Bridge, Photoshop and Camera Raw.
The uploader tells me kind of "Some updates could not be installed" and installs nothing.
I don't know, what to do. Can you please help me?

CS5 Extended Upgrade -- No CS2 Option

I recently upgraded Photoshop from CS2 to CS5 Extended (I bought the CS5 Ex upgrade on Amazon), but the CS5 Extended installer actually didn't recognize CS2 as a valid upgrade path (only CS3 Ex, CS4 Ex, and CS5 were in the "qualifying" dropdown). So my CS2 serial didn't work. Even though Adobe seems pretty clear on this:

So I had to call Adobe, and spoke to three different reps who said 3 different things -- (a) CS2 was not eligible as an upgrade path, (b) CS2 Extended was necessary (is there even a CS2 Extended?), and (c) that it could be done, but it's called an "upsell" and it's at a higher price point than the upgrade.
None of these fit what Adobe has on their site though...
Eventually they said that they were sorry that I was confused (I didn't want to debate) and they gave me a special process/code to bypass get by the CS2 omission. So although it was a bit frustrating to waste that time on the phone after the Adobe site was wrong, I'm glad that Adobe has a way to work it out.
But I though it was odd that the CSRs would not recognize the problem/discrepancy, and I don't feel like going through this again when I need to install CS5 Ex on a new computer (since I know my CS2 serial still won't power the CS5 Ex installer).
Anyone else upgrade from CS2 to CS5 Extended and have this issue (I saw one other guy on this forum have the issue but I have to figure more people have had it, and that Adobe has to fix/catch this)?

Maybe Adobe was originally going to "two-tier" the pricing, so maybe that's why there are two different products that are basically the same?
Either way, I guess I've been out of the SN/upgrade loop for a while. I appreciate the help and patience with my ignorance

Photoshop cs5 extended 3d issue

Hi,
i made a selection then i made it into a 3d layer with reproussé and then turn it into a 3d object , this part works all fine
but as soon as i accept the changes i make, and start to use the 3d rotation tool and start rotate it. my background goes transparent while dragging/rotating my object . this is very enoying coz i cannot see my background while doing this.. anyone has the same problem and or a solution to it?
i checked photoshop preferences ( CTRL + K ... performance) and played with the settings. nothing usefull. also i updated my system to the latest video drivers. everything runs smooth even photoshop.
my hardware specs are pretty decent im sure it isnt that, although i could enable or check something somewhere , who can help me about this issue...

Generally good advice is to check with nVidia on their web site and see if they have released any recent video drivers that fix the problem you're seeing.

How do you updated CS5 Extended when you keep getting a message to close the program but it is close

How do you updated CS5 extended when you keep getting a message to close the program but the program is already closed? I have tried to do the update when I first turn the computer on, go directly to Photoshop, go to update and click on that, get new screen, close Photoshop, and I still get a message to close the already closed program. I believe I have to open Photoshop to get to the update area, so I don't know how to get around this issue. I hope someone can help me.
(I use win8, 64 bit)

Thank you for answering. However, when I opened the Task Manager and looked at all the processes that were running, the only things running were the Task Manager and the browser. None of the Photoshop programs were running. So, do you have any other suggestions?

Camera Raw update for CS5 Extended

I am looking for a Camera Raw update for CS5 Extended. I currently have CR 6.7.0.339. IS there something newer for me to use with CS5 Extended, Ver. 12.1x64?

Camera Raw 6.7 is the latest version that's compatible with Photoshop CS5. There's nothing newer for CS5.

If you need Camera Raw 7+ for your camera, you'll have to upgrade to Photoshop CS6.

Error code when trying to install Camera Raw update 6.6 to CS5 Extended

I am trying to install the camera raw update 6.6 to my newly purchased CS5 extended and I keep getting an error code U44M2P7, or U44M1P7. I really need to figure this out because it will not read the raw files from my Nikon D7000 without this update. Business will be picking up for me in the next few weeks so I hope to get this figured out soon. Thanks in advance for any help!

CS5's automatic update mechanism is broken, perhaps because it is no longer updated and can't cope with the newer ways of updating.
So this means you will have make a list of the updates that failed, go here: Product updates
and manually download/install from there.

I am using Photoshop CS5 extended and I have tried to get an update to be able to use raw with my D600 and it won't give me any options. Any recommendations othere than to go to PSCC and LRCC?

Is there a way to update PS CS5 extended to allow me to use raw with my D600. It works with my D300 and D90 raw but not with my D600.

CS5 Adobe Camera Raw stopped at 6.7 and the D600 support was introduced in 7.2 for CS6.
You are eligible to upgrade to Photoshop CS6 for $200 Standard or $400 Extended if you do not want the Cloud.

Need help in installing the camera raw update that will cover my Sony Alpha 77 & let me open & edit them in CS5 Extended.

I have the Photoshop CS5 Extended installed, but have just got around to using it to size some photos for an internet circle only to find that I cannot open my cameras Raw files, a Sony Alpha 77. The camera is obviously to new for the software installed with my version of CS5.
Can anyone help me out please?

Your camera was supported in Adobe Camera Raw 6.5 but you could install the last update for CS5 which is version 6.7.1

I am running Windows 7 64 bit ultimate and have the same problem. My hard drive crashed, installed a new one and then reinstalled CS5 extended. Installation went fine, but can no longer open my camera RAW files from Photoshop (camera is a Canon EOS T2i. The message also tells me I am not eligible for the update. I am... and I cannot open my files and I could before. I can find nowhere to contact Adobe to tell me how to proceed. My daughter is all a registered user of the same product and she had no problems upgrading... we purchased ours each at the same time. I do know the difference is that I had to reinstall and she did not. If that means anything.
