CS5 'fit to screen' problem - all blurry

with the update to photoshop CS5 the command 'fit to screen' (command/0) now renders a blurry file at odd percentages (e.g. 63.58%). - text is especially fuzzy as to be illegible and hard to edit.
CS4 works fine.
both versions implement openGL so not sure what's going on?
my system uses snow leopard (10.6.4) and an openGL card: ATI Radeon HD 4870/Open GL Engine.
is anyone else experiencing this issue?
any solutions?
one caveat: my question regards on-screen rendering only - i.e. a workflow model - not regarding preview for printing, final output, etc.
looking forward to any suggestions.

well, just had a rather unbearable support call with adobe the result of which is that they said this was 'expected behavior and all their computers were performing the same way'. i followed up filing a 'bug' report on adobe's site.
that said, during the phone call, the tech. agent had me trash my preferences which in the end seemed to help. unfortunately, neither of us were aware it semi-fixed things as he had me working with 'window > application frame mode' - which no matter what you do still renders a blurry file using this command.
here's what i found to help me:
1. trash your preferences
2. if you have files grouped together in a tabbed group and use the command view > fit to screen they will ALWAYS be blurry.
if you pull one of the documents out of this tabbed group and re-enter the command - it's nice and crisp.
3. 50% of the time (after trashing my prefs) when i opened a pre-created file containing text it was crispy when i hit the command, the other 50% of the time it was blurry.
intermittently reducing the file's view percentage and re-entering the command made it legible - so not a great workaround.
so but by far the most reliable work-around is to take a blurry file, attach it to another one in a tabbed group and hit the command. then drag it out of the group, reapply the command and 100% of the time it's now crispy. long-winded but it works!
so who knows - clearly it's bug. hopefully they'll either fix it in an update or in the next release.
hope this helps you too.
cheers-

if you choose to do this, drag your songs over there, THEN erase them from your itunes library, becasue itunes wont be able to find the songs. After that, you can do
file > add folder to library > my documents/my music/itunes/itunes music, and it will automatically upload all those songs back onto your library

  • HP HDX16 Screen Problem (Fuzzy, blurry, flickering)

So, I'm having some issues with my HDX which has been flawless. It'sjust over 18months old.
One day all of a sudden the screen went fuzzy. I noticed when I bring the screen down (toward closing position) it then sharpens up and goes back to normal but only at that angle.
At first when this happened, the longer the laptop was on, the further I could push the screen back without it going fuzzy.
But now I can't and I can only view the screen at quite a low angle, it's very close to the keyboard. I've noticed it's going lower and lower each day!!
When the screen goes fuzzy it can be just fuzzy or even a coloured fuzz (different variety). It can also flicker to normal and fuzzy when I’m trying to find that angle where I can get a clear screen.
I’ve looked online and people have tried changing the inverter but the problem is still there, even buying a new lcd!! But it still could be one of them.
I know it’s not an lcd problem as the screen is flawless when I find that clear angle. Any suggestion please? I have a feeling it’s going to reach a point when I won’t be able to see anything at all and it’ll stay fuzzy.
I just called HP and they offer NO support for HDX models if it's got to do with the screen. But if it's for example a keyboard or non screen related problem they are willing to do an out of warranty repair.
I obviouslt questioned the guy and said it must mean you guys have a lot of screen problems but he claims all aprts are out of stock and product is discontinued. Surely they would still have a lot of parts anyway.
    Anyone else have any suggestions?

If the external display works well then there could very well be a loose connector causing the problem. That will require disassembly to investigate.

  • We use FAMIS software. On their report module, when I view a report in Firefox, the screen is all blurry. The reports are clear in IE and Chrome. Why?

When Firefox pulls up a report in our FAMIS maintenance software, on the screen the report is double imaged and impossible to read. If I print it out though, it is fine. When I use IE or Chrome, the report comes up just fine. Soo... I'm assuming that there is a conflict of some kind with Firefox and our maintenance management software. In the past I never had any problems like this. But, I do have a brand new computer and I have downloaded the latest version of Firefox as well. Using Windows 7 Pro and Office 2013 if that matters.
Anyway... wondered if anyone else has had this issue, and if so, how to fix it? Since I use FAMIS daily, I may have to switch browsers so I can get clear reports to read, as I hate printing off reports for no reason.
    thanks... cmz :-)

I'm guessing this is a PDF and that there is a glitch in how the built-in PDF viewer is rendering it.
If that's the problem, you probably could resolve it by switching to the Adobe Acrobat plugin. This article has the steps for that: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]].
    Success?

  • Can not get the screenpicture to fit the screen.

can not get the screenpicture to fit the screen. problem acurred after hooking up to an external screen. tried everything in screensettings, but the screenpicture is larger than the screen

When you slide the cursor to the edge of the screen, does the screen image scroll, allowing you access to everything (menu bar, Dock, etc.) even though you can't see all of it at once?
If it does, go to the Apple menu and open System Preferences > Trackpad. Is the box for "Screen zoom" checked, under "Two fingers"? If so, press the Control key and drag two fingertips downward (toward you) on the trackpad. Does the screen image zoom down to normal size?
Another possibility is pressing Option+Command+8. If System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing > Screen Zoom has accidentally been turned on, this will turn it off and return your screen to its normal size.

  • Photos get all blurry when switching between "100%" and "Fit to Screen"

    Hello,
I downloaded the Aperture 3 Testversion and I'm trying to create a new book. I managed to design all the pages but when I switch between the views the photos get all blurry until I zoom in and out of the photo.
I was wondering if anybody knows if it will affect the print out version and if I can do something that they aren't blurry when I get my copy?
    Thank you for your help.
    Tim

    I have also noticed this.
Click the print button in the book layout window.
In the print dialog, choose PDF>open pdf in Preview.
I presume this shows a reasonably accurate facsimile of how the images will appear when printed.

  • Just got a 5C, is it normal that when you transition from Siri to calling someone that the symbols along the top or screen go all feint and blurry?

Just got a 5C, is it normal that when you transition from Siri to calling someone that the symbols along the top or screen go all feint and blurry?

I have one it works fine. yeah, the Mac instructions aren't great. Try this.
    (1) make sure you have your VCR audio and video outputs connected to the side with the two selection switches.
    (2) be sure you know the difference between the audio and video outputs no matter which colors you use.
    (3) make sure the indicator light is green on cable that connects to your computers firewire port.
    (4) when you operate the vcr through Imovie. you will only be able to play your vhs tape. so to fast forward or reverse. you must use your vcr remote or your hand.
    (5) to import your footage just click on import in imovie.
That should solve your problem. Also, in the future put these questions in the imovie forum.
P.s. if this is helps you give me a vote or two. LOL

  • Fit on screen all dashboard page reports

    Hi all!
I'm starting in OBIEE 11g, so I need your help!
Our issue is that we need "resize" all reports that are in Dashboard's pages as "fit on screen" mode. Now, for example, we have 4 analysis in a Dashboard's page but it page has scrolls. So we need to scroll down and right to see all analysis in that page.
There is any way to "resize" all reports and "fit on screen" that Dashboard page? I try to modify Height and Width on Column, Section, and analysis but it doesn't work.
    Any idea?
    Thanks for your unvaluable time.
    Regards,
    Ariel

    Ok guys, it was solved.
The problem was the Canvas Height and Width in Graph properties. It is set to a default value. It isn't relative, so all other objects get its size. So, I reduce that Height and Width, so all objects get the new size.
    Thanks for your time!
    Best regards,
    Ariel

  • "Fit on Screen" CS5

We have just got two new identical spec computers. We all need to see our images full screen or larger when we're working on them. At the top of almost all my custom PS actions is the menu item "Fit Screen". Or there is the alternative KB command Ctrl + Alt + 0 or the old slow way through the menus to View/ Fit on Screen. Or you can prepare a script that will open every image to "Fit Screen".
In my experience since Photoshop V4.0 this command has neatly filled the screen. In CS5 with my two new computers," Fit on Screen" gives the expected full screen in one, but significantly reduced in the other. On the % scale, "Fit on Screen" delivers a size around 8% too small regardless of which method I choose. That's enough to irritate.
Monitor settings are correct and identical as far as I can see, and nothing in PS help or a broader Google  search mentions any adjustability with this.
I'm obviously missing a tiny checkbox or setting somewhere. Help!
    Thanks & regards,
    Paul Wright

Zeno you are clearly a genius. I tried the default workspace and bingo! Fit
to Screen behaves as expected. I had imported a custom workspace from the
old system which was causing the error. I'll just re-write the custom
    workspace for the new system.
    Thanks & regards,

  • Problem with AE CS5 and laptop screen resolution during install..

    Hello everyone,
I bought AE and I am very disappointed.  When I went to install the  application, I got the following errors and it stopped installing.
    Exit Code: 7
    -------------------------------------- Summary  --------------------------------------
    - 0 fatal error(s), 54 error(s), 52 warning(s)
    WARNING: Display requirements not met for  {DA1B174B-4297-467C-9EF8-0AB8D4D5171E}
WARNING: Payload cannot be installed due to dependent operation  failure
My max screen resolution is 1366x768 and the requirement is  1280x1024.
I don't plan on buying a screen that large.  Is there a fix for  this? perhaps editing the registry? I won't mind the small work area.  I  can manage.  does AE CS4 have this resolution requirement?  I have an  opengl capable graphics card in my laptop so I don't think that is an  issue here. any help would be much appreciated. thanks

ok I think I was able to bypass the " Display requirements not met for {DA1B174B-4297-467C-9EF8-0AB8D4D5171E}" error during install. I hooked up an exteral monitor with the required resolution and I did not see that error message again.  However, I am still getting the following error messages
    <code>
WARNING: Payload cannot be installed due to dependent operation failure
    </code>
could it be that my graphics card does not support opengl? how can I make sure it supports opengl 2.0?
the graphics card that I have is an integraded intel media graphics accelerator.  I am quite sure it would support opengl2.0. any thoughts? thanks
My brother has a screen resolution of 1240x780 and yet he was able to install AE CS5 without any errors at all.  He has an ATI mobility Raedon Graphics card.  whats up with that? also, he cannot hear any sound from avi videos in AE.  He has tried everything even raising the decibals level in the track.

  • Jpegs look blurry after crop at fit to screen but are fine at 50%... Why?

I recently upgraded to CS4 and have system 10.6.2.  Jpegs appear blurry after cropping at fit to screen but are fine at 16%, 50% or 100%...  My CS2 version never did this. Anyone know how to fix this bug?
    Thanks

Your resolution (in the pic) is likely set to 72PPI. In smaller JPGs when they are enlarged to full screen, they will appear pixelated or blurry.
Before cropping, try setting the PPI to 300.
I had to do this when making PNGs for conversion to icons, because they would blur when converted. I set almost everything I do to 300PPI.
