CS5 Flash and Photoshop painfully slow
I recently moved from CS4 Master Suite to CS5 Master Suite. I work with all files on a home based network drive. The CS4 handled most all tasks easily. The CS5 is painfully slow.
Publish Previewing a very small Flash file with no action script and 3 button rollovers takes 3-6 minutes to view. Opening a 1100x730px jpg in Photoshop takes 1-2 minutes and saving it is almost as slow. Ironically, Fireworks opens the same jpg in half the time.
About my set up: the network drive and a desktop PC are plugged into a Linksys G wireless router. The desktop has the same problems as both laptops in really slow Adobe tasks. None of my other programs struggle with network tasks and the CS4 Master Suite handled it fine.
Any clue why CS5 Master Collection would perform basic tasks so much slower than CS4 Master Collection using the same network?
I guess your project is quite complex (filesize for starters, maybe complex vector artwork, lots of keyframes etc.). When you save your project, Flash has to process all the objects and do the actual writing to the disc. What you can do, is break the document into smaller, separate *.fla files. You can export them as *.swf and load them at runtime or export them as *.swc libraries and include them at compile time.

Nothing shows up here?

With CS5 you must have registered, hopefully under your present Adobe ID.
I am afraid the chat and phone support are off until the beginning of January.

Hi All,
Is it possible to install Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 and PhotoShop 5.5 on windows 2008 R2 SP1 using Terminal services. We are planning to use xenapp to publish these application.
Please let me know if this is a supported environment.
Regards
RadhikaAs far as I know you will NOT be able to access OpenGL functionality through Terminal Services. as the OpenGL implementation provided in that environment is software, version 1.1 - not GPU-accelerated.
I seem to recall there was a thread about a year ago here where someone was trying to do what you are asking. I vaguely remember they were able to make it work, but I'm not sure. You might try doing a search of this forum.

Recently my CS5 illustrator and Photoshop is not responding frequently. How to rectify?
Recently my CS5 illustrator and Photoshop are not responding frequently. keep crashing. Any solution?
Thanks,
MikeHi Mylenium,
My imac processor 2.66GHZ intel core i5
Memory 8G 1067MHz DDR3
Mac OS X 10.7.5 (Lion)
When I try to launch CS5 illustrator, sometime it is not responding. It also happen after I launched illustrator and I was just doing some basic design, change type and zoom in and out.
If I opened both CS5 illustrator and photoshop, while I was working on illustrator and when it start not responding, photoshop also become not responding and vice versa.
I hope this information is adequate for you and troubleshoot for me what's wrong with my mac.
Thanks

Is it possible to edit photoshop pages and than have flash
read them as webpages?
I have downloaded an online template that has flash and
photoshop files. I was wondering if there is any way I would be
able to edit photoshop files and flash would recognize them.
Instead of editing the flash file directly.I agree with _xchanin.
Look for the dropbox and you can select what scene you want
to edit.
What version of Flash are you using ? -

Screen flickers and photoshop becomes slow
Hi,
I have been using photoshop for quite a while now and have never faced any issues until now. I upgraded from windows 7/64 bit to windows 8.1/64 bit and the problems have started. When I turn on the ruler view my ruler flickers and also the photoshop becomes slow. If I hold the spacebar(hand tool) and want to move to some area it's not smooth. When the ruler view is turned off it's all fine but as a web designer I can't do without the ruler. Earlier I had the whole screen flickering issues but I did some search on the internet and have tuned the drawing board to basic and that has solved the issue but not the ruler flickering issue. BTW I am using Photoshop CC. I am unable to work on it and I need some help please help me guys.
Thank you

Flash Archive (flarcreate) Painfully Slow
I really like the concept of flar, but flarcreate is just painfully slow.
To the point that I don't want to use it. I could do L0 backups to
tape significantly faster than flash archives. I'm popping off
a flarcreate on my Sun Blade 100 before I do an OE upgrade
and after 2 hours it's still determining the size of the archive.
I'll be the first to complain about the speed of Sun Blade 100's,
particularly for IO, but this is just crazy.
Is there any expectation that a better/faster way is going to be made
avalible? I really would much rather use flar than tape.
Thanks. That is painfully slow! The longest I've seen the size estimation take is around 10-20 minutes. It's been a while since I've done it though & that was on a 100 as well. I didn't have anything else running on the machine, and it was a base install + patch cluster, with compression my flar archive came out to be about 500 megs. It definately took under 2 hours to create the archive [start to finish]. Maybe you should try this on a different machine & see if it goes faster, or maybe even restart the process.
Now that I'm thinking about it, there was one time where the flar create was actually including the archive files into the archive, such that the archive was 2x-3x it's normal size. The problem was, it was one of the last files to be added to the archive & by then it was a pretty large file. You might want to make sure you're excluding the directory that you're saving the archive to...

Creative cloud and Photoshop so slow as to be unusable.
I have been having an ongoing problem with both Creative Cloud and Photoshop. Both programs have slowed down to the point of being inoperable. For example, it takes 1-5 minutes just to choose a tool in Photoshop. When either of these programs are open, it slows the entire computer to a snails pace. It was all working fine until about 2 months ago, when it suddenly stopped. I don't recall if there was an update at the time of the slowdown. The only change I remember making was adding some Kyle Webster brushes, but I removed those and the problem still exists.
I have run a number of diagnostics and virus scans on my computer, and all show no problems with it. (I have a mid 2010 iMac) So far, I have increased the memory to 16 GB, reset the preferences in photoshop, and checked the other things listed on the help site. I have tried to uninstall/ reinstall both Photoshop and Creative cloud using the adobe cleaner app a number of times. With the assistance of some help center employees, the system preferences have been reset, we have cleared the .tmp files, created a new administrator user and tried to open it in that user to test if it is a permission problem. Nothing has worked and the problem seems to be getting worse. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be going wrong, or something else I can try? I am a designer with a growing backlog of work that needs this program, so I really need to solve this problem quickly.
Thank you!!!

Why is the Adobe Creative Cloud Connection speed so SLOW?

Photoshop painfully slow with lots of layers.
I've seen this before with Photoshop. I have a pretty tame PSD file, 35mb. Web design file with lots of small layers. Photoshop will go from 20% to 105% in Apple's Activity Monitor—and I'm not doing anything in Photoshop. If I try to move a single type layer with the cursor keys, for example, I get the move dialog with a progress bar. Very unresponsive overall.
I'm about to make smart objects of all my layer grous, and see if this helps, but this is a file I've worked on in the past, and photoshop was very responsive.
Larger MB files with big images seem fine.

Buying a new imac - Flash and Photoshop
I'm getting ready to buy a mac. I use it for on the side freelance, mainly using Flash, Dreamweaver and Photoshop. I can't decide whether I want to get a 20" PowerPC imac, a 20" intel imac or just suck it up and get a G5 tower, along with a flatscreen. Currenly I use an old G4 (400 megaherts, 1 GB of RAM.
Basically, I'd like to know how much faster a tower is to the imacs, and how well I can use Flash with Rosetta. I'd like to have really good performance, but don't really want to drop $3,000 on the tower/monitor, and am hoping that the powerPC imac has good performance on these applications.
So, these are my options:
-PowerPC G5 Tower, 2 GB RAM, 256 graphics card
-PowerPC iMAC, 1.5 GB RAM
-Intel iMAC, 2GB RAM, 256 graphics card
Thanks for any replies,I'm using 20" intel imac with 1GB ram and 256MB
graphics card. Compared to my 1.33GHz/768MB G4

Photoshop CS runs faster on the imac
Flash 8 Pro is way faster and more responsive on the
imac
Dreamweaver 8 runs about the same on the
imac
12" pb g4 1.33/768,
20" imac core duo 2GHz/1GB Mac OS X (10.4.4)
you are running Photoshop and Flash in emulation mode, right? and its way faster than your powerbook? is it stable?

Image width difference from flash and photoshop while rotating
Hi,
-> I have loaded a image in the flash and a copy of a image in photoshop.
-> Then i have checked the width of a image in both the application and they look same.
-> In flash window>transform>angle i have given angle 0.7
-> In photoshop Image>Image Rotation> Arbitary i have given angle 0.7
-> I have checked width of a image in both the application and they are not same.
Couldn't able to figure it out the reason for the change. Could any one assist me for the same to acheive the same.
Thanks and Regards,
Kamesharan A.Something like 0.7 won't really show up very well for an example so here's PS CC and Flash CC rotating (approx) 200x200 px red square 20 degrees. They look pretty exact to me (although drawing and placement was done by hand so the slight difference in position is me). Rotation looks good.
Here's what I get from measuring width (but of course the width is of the rotated object), 256px or so on both:
For hand drawn 200px squares (one is 199.2px, etc) that's showing you it's pretty exact.
Mind you if you do a Image Rotation (I did a transform) then it will rotate in Photoshop via a different point. The rotation of the object itself looks the same (and the width is 257) but it's just positioned differently.
Your results should be similar. -
Leopard running Aperture and Photoshop really slow
I just got Leopard and my Aperture and Photoshop are running slow and crashing, also when I run Pro Tools it won't boot up all the time. This is really frustrating. I keep loosing files images. This is running like Bill Gates made it.
Have you checked what it going on, when Aperture becomes sluggish?
I'd recommend to launch some diagnostic tools, if you have not already done so:
Aperture's own "Activity Viewer": From the main menu bar: Window > Show Activity
This will tell you, how Aperture is spending its time : rendering, previews, scanning for faces or places, raw processing. Inparticulur, check, if Aperture is hanging while processing one particular image or video over and over again.
The Console window: Launch it from the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. Look, if you see error messages or warnings in this window, when Aperture starts to hang.
The Activity Monitor: Launch it from the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. This window will tell you, which processes are using the cpu, the RAM, and doing page outs to the disk. You can see, if other processing are competing with Aperture and slowing it down, orif Aperture is starved for memory.
How large are images? Do you have very large raw files or scans, or are your photos moderately sized?
Is your library on the internal drive or an external drive?
Do you see this slowness only with your main Aperture library, or also, if you create a new, small library with a few test images?

Transfer rate between PC and Mac painfully slow! Linksys WRT150N
Hey everyone, I have my new Macbook Pro wirelessly connected to my Linksys WRT150N, while my PC (running Windows XP SP3) is connected through wired.
I originally had dd-wrt on the router, but took it off due to the signal would randomly drop. Now that I have the original firmware back installed, the transfer rate is painfully slow. Just trying to transfer any type of media it goes about a MB per min.
Is there anything I can try to change on my Mac or my router? This is what you are after I think....

Wordpress with flash banner running painfully slow, fine with safari ?
I have noticed when I run some wordpress sites with Flash banners, going from page to page is like pulling teeth, I have compared with other browsers such as safari and they are fast with no slowing etc.
I have not tried on Firefox for PC I am referring to Firefox for mac
Its the latest version with the latest flash player.Try this:
The following usually works on both Tiger and Leopard:
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Many, including me, have had success with adding DNS codes to their Network Settings, with good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
form values
download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
com.apple.Safari.plist
Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
Less likely, but possible, is that the slowness is caused by a Trojan such as the one called 'DNSChanger' or 'OSZ.RSPlug', which can alter the DNS settings of your network connection. This particular Trojan can be inadvertently installed if you have come across certain Quicktime movies where got a window stating that you have to download and install a particular codec in order to see the video.
If you have agreed to that installation, your system can be infected and your DNS settings altered, which results in your system using the wrong DNS servers, which can slow web surfing to a crawl.
This can be fixed by downloading and running a freeware utility called DNSChanger Removal Tool which you can download from here:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/33696
Once you have run that utility you have to re-boot your Mac, then reset Safari, and re-enter your DNS settings in System Preferences/Network.
