CS5 gone whacky!

My Illustrator CS5 has gone whacky. I cannot move/reposition a document onscreen smoothly. Instead, when I try to drag it, it appears to refuse. Then it jumps to a random place on the screen, sometimes almost disappearing completely. What can I do to fix this?

Just a regular Illustrator file. Just trying to move it around on the screen and it doesn't want to move. I thought it might be this particular file, but I created a new file and it did the same thing. When I click and drag the document, there is no movement. After I release, it creates a sort of ghost image that is kindof where I want it to be, and then after a few seconds, pops over. Often, after doing this, it will jump randomly to other spots on the screen. Don't have the same problems with Photoshop.

LR3 connection to CS5 gone

I have a PC 32bit. I installed LR3 and it was working great with CS4. I installed CS5 and now when I am in the Library or Develp module and go to Photo in the "control panel" and click on Edit In... Edit in PS, as well as Open as Smart Obj in PS, Merge to Pano in PS, Merge to HDR in PS and Open as Layers in PS are gray and I can not use them. All this as you might guess is a giant pain. I can go to PS open the file work on it and Save and it will change in LR3. Also as you might guess ctrl+E does not work. I have gone to prefences and made PS the alt. so I can get there by ctrl alt E. but the stilll can use smart obj, Pano, HDR or Layers. I have also gone to the LR3 installer and tried to repair with no change.

Project in cs5 gone????

Installed Premiere CS5. Created small test project. Save and made changes and saved several times. Then I go to open project and it opens empty. Nothing on the sequence or no files in resource central. This really makes me nervous. Is this maybe a bug? anyone else?

Yep... it happened to me this morning!
A project that I have been working on in CS5 all of a sudden started taking 5-10 minutes to open and was 'Not Responding' for about 3mins after any edit. When I looked at the .pproj it had a date of 5/4/2010 (today is 5/25/2010). The last time I opened it there was nothing there whereas there should have been 4 - 30min SEQ's w/ Media.
I went into the Auto-Save and low & behold there was a .pproj with today's date. I had to open the Auto-Save .pproj and redo some of my edits but for the most part it was in tact and close to the point in the edit where it should have been.
Scary, but I don't recall doing anything out of the norm to the project which is EX1 Footage (h.264), Video (.avi & .mov) w/GRFX (.png & .jpg) - 1920x1080 30p.
Neither OE or a lack of understanding of what I need was the culprit in my case as this was NOT a new project but one that is ongoing... but understanding of how Premiere saves/stores Auto-Saves saved my butt. As you edit and learn Premiere these little things may possibly still pop up but at least then you'll know how to deal with it... and hopefully the Forums will still be here if you can't figure it out for yourself.

Border Color in CS5 - Gone?

I just installed CS5. What happened to the color picker for table border color. I see the background color picker but no border color picker? Is there somewhere in preferences or something to find this? If not, is there an extension that can be added?

The border-color attribute is not a part of HTML and has never been, even though some early browsers chose to support it. DW is now very focused on writing valid HTML in your pages, hence its removal. As Ken suggests, the proper way to style any element's borders is to use CSS.

Properties for MenuBar Widget cs5 Gone

On all of my websites, when I click on the Light Blue Box on my menuBar widgets, when it brings up the properties it just says: Widget & the Name of the MenuBar.
Gone is the ability to quickly name & move submenus, point links, etc.
How do I get that back? Thanks!!

Netscape gone whacky on 9.2.2... HELP....

I recently did some mods to my system and now Netscape 7.02 don't render correctly and causes a crash... hard crash, anyone had this experience? If so, how to resolve, I've tried changing the skin and it still plays up, even went to deleting application plus preferences and re-installing it plus plugins, still no luck.

Hi, TM. I haven't used Netscape since version 4.8 (and that was in Mac OS 8.6), so the contents of my normal OS 9.2.2 extension set would be of very little use to you. And because you've already tried the "OS 9.2.2 All" extension set with the same unsatisfactory results your modified set produced, I rather doubt that extensions are at the root of your problem. I don't know what else might be. In your place, and absent any more promising suggestions from Don A. or others, I think I would next try a Clean Install of OS 9.2.2 followed by reinstalling Netscape again.
You should be able to re-install OS 9 from your original OS 10.2.x (Jaguar) Install CDs. These Apple articles may help:

Winfile.cpp-759 error when exporting .flv files

Hi,
Just got over the P2 file problem (stopped using them in CS5, gone back to CS4) and a new problem has occured.
I have been exporting .flv files since I first installed CS5, suddenly today Premiere crashes when trying to export individual .flv files and so does the media encoder.
Any ideas?

The given problem doesn't have the obvious cause. But it can be avoided.
The problem emerges after Premiere import video clips with attached audio files, while 'confoming audio'. After the conforming, the 'broken' audio files cannot be heard with playback, or incorporated in export.
There are two solutions to this problem.
First: While ripping material, or importnig previously ripped material, import separately audio and video data.
Second: If you, while working, run into audio stream that doesn't hear ( because of the given 'conforming' ), edit audio of original clip in some sound editing program ( Adobe SoundBooth, for instance ) by cuting it to new file, resampling it, saving to *.wav ( for example ) and importing it to your Premiere project, replacing the broken audio data.
That should do the trick. At least, it did it for me.

Open loop with nestedLineStyle

Could someone confirm, that InDesign will go into open loop if
app.findTextPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle = charStyle;
and in some story, some paragraph(s) has this charStyle set as a nestedLineStyle further then from 1st line
(from 2nd and next)
i.e setting looks like:
[None]          for     1     line
charStyle       for     2     lines
My ID CS5 gone out of memory with that...
Only way to run is place mouse insertion point somewhere inside "charStyle" range of text.
Did you notice that also?

I think you understand me well.
I tell you more informations.
1) The computer is working in Windows XP Professional (Just Theme).
2) It happens also at low velocity and acceleration.
3) I think when the motor stops moving, it fails to translate into hardware steps.
Because when the motor stops, "Current Trajectory Position" and "Encoder Counts" are equal.
4) I checked status registers on the card when it works abnormally, but can't find any error message and flgs.
5) To make matters worse it happens occasionally, so it's difficult to find out the reason.
6) Strange as it may sound, when I touch the motion connector correctly,  the abnormal behavior frequency decrease.
So I tried to exchange a new motion b/d and a motion cable but it was just same error situation.
I can't understand because I just use "OPEN LOOP",  it is no matter whether servo driver works well or not.
7) Do I have to change PC? I already tried to exchange PCI Slot position.
I need more information about this.
I'm in trouble because this system is operating at foreign country.
It is fatal error even if it happens once per day....

Help please with character sets

Hi,
I use GL CS2 just 4 times a year or so and that's why I'm not very good with it I suppose. Each time I have to relearn what I should be able to remember (something to do with advanced age I think).
I create a page of "newsletter" text, upload to the site then see that I have strange characters instead of " (quotes) - (dash) and so on. I'm sure the answer is in the way I have my Encoding set because I had it all working beautifully for the December issue but in March it's all gone whacky again.
Could someone please explain in short words to this numpty just what I should have these settings set to (and "why" if that won't confuse me more than I am already)?
I've been through the FAQ and done a search without succes so I turn now to the knowledgable who use this more often than I. Any help would be appreciated - thanks.

Upgrading to the cloud

I have older, working versions of several Adobe products (Acrobat, CS5, Lightroom). I have just joined the Creative Cloud. As I go to install the new versions on my laptop, will they simply update the older ones or do I have to delete the old versions first? I have tried this with Acrobat and it's frozen at the 99% download level and won't finish the install. thanks!

Michael, thanks. The problem with keeping both CS5 and Creative Cloud versions is that CS5 is huge and my laptop has a solid state drive so the drive space is a lot smaller than on the old disk drives. Keeping both sets would have filled the drive. So I decided to take CS5 off along with the old Acrobat and so far, with CS5 gone and the new CC versions installed, everything seems to be OK. For space reasons, I also didn't install all the CC programs, just the ones I use most. I like the freedom to be able to install other programs as needed, which CC offers. I also like the convenience of always having access to the newest versions and as long as the pricing stays reasonable (I pay education/faculty pricing) CC is worth it for the flexibility and timeliness. Set picture to desktop function broken

So, in the copy of iPhoto I have the button to set the current picture as your background is always grayed out and is grayed out in the share menu as well. Anyone else experiencing this or anyone know how to fix it?

Maybe I wasn't clear. It doesn't matter if I log in as root--iPhoto will not allow me to change the desktop picture. I'm fully aware that the desktop picture is a user pref (at least I hope I am since I'm a developer).
What I meant by "not a permissions issue" is that this does not appear to be some bug where iPhoto is not allowing a desktop picture to be set because there is some directory whose ownership/group/permissions are set to root, wheel, etc.--since even root can't set a desktop pic with iPhoto.
I suppose it's possible there is some directory that has gone whacky and will not allow anyone to write (like r-xr-xr-x). Then iPhoto couldn't create the "iPhoto Selection" directory of aliases the way it did with iPhoto 5 when you used the iPhoto selection as rotating desktop pics. But that same directory has gone whacky on the machines of multiple people who updated to iPhoto 6.
Any suggestions?

If it requires a Photoshop CS5 re-install, (I belief that it may fix the problem) and re-install the two third party plugins (NIK Viveza) and (Onone Perfect Resize) how and where do I get to the proper Adobe upload page to do that.
I have tried to fix this problem by changing the memory allocations, I have spend many hours on it and are very disgusted with it but it needs to be fixed. The current memory settings are;
Ram available = 1588 MB
Range = 873 -1143 MB
Recommended Photoshop usage range = 857 however I have tried every setting to max and in between. Nothing works. Current setting = 1588 (max)
The Photoshop I use is registered, I have product # and order # .

When you installed CS5, you have a chance to register it. If you do, your serial number is on file under your Adobe (My Products). If you did not, you have no serial number on file and even worse, no proof you own it.
You do not have your serial number copied down anywhere? Hard to believe you tossed the dvd box and all the documents away.
So Help > Register might give you a chance to do this without you knowing the number.

ArcGIS 10.0 to Illustrator (CS5).... Edit, Save, Reopen, Clipping masks are all gone....

I am working from ArcGIS 10.0 to Illustrator CS5.
I make my map in ArcGIS. The layers are in four groups (VECTORS: top, middle, bottom + RASTER). I export the map from layout view to an .ai file. I open the .ai file in illustrator. Edit a couple things. Save the document. Seems simple enough... when I open it it should look just like it did when I just saved it two seconds ago, right?

After saving, closing, and reopening all my clipping masks are gone. They have disappeared/ automatically released. I have tried this same process on my personal computer (this issue is happening on a work computer) and I am not having an issue (GIS layers are in groups, I export, open, edit, save, close, reopen... still all clipped and the way I want it). I'm not sure if it is the settings on the work computer that are causing the clipping masks to automatically release on their own or what. When I look through the layers in my .ai file (post save, reopened file) the former clipping masks are now just 'paths.' but if I reclip them they mess up my layers and it seems like a tedious and unnecessary process (especially if the whole thing is working out correctly on my personal computer).
Does anyone have any idea why illustrator is automatically releasing my clipping masks upon saving?
Is it a GIS issue? Or an Illustrator issue? Are my settings wrong? Help!

The first thing you must do when opening an Arc AI file is to do a Save As and overwrite the original file with a new copy of the file in whatever the version of AI you have. If you just do a Save of the Arc file, it will revert to an AI3 file. Everything will be placed on a single layer.
