CS5  how do I crop to a given dimension???

trying to crop to 12.5 by 18.5 inches.  do it all the time in CS3, but damned if I can find out how in CS5.  please help...many many thanks
tom

Using the Crop Tool simply enter the numbers in the fields to the right of the crop tool symbol in the Options bar. If you type the numbers given it will figure it is in inches.
If you are going to use those dimensions a lot,you can save it as a preset,so you won't have to keep entering those numbers.

  • Automatic cropping to a given "border" distance

    Dear all,
Given some hand drawings which are firmly black on white background (no greys of any kind), is it possible to somehow (in CS5 for Mac) to crop an image in such a fashion that a specified amount of whitespace is left around the drawings? I.e., determine a 'bounding box' for the drawing and then enlarge it by so much in either direction, then crop?
    Thanks,
    K

    1. Trim doesn't seem to work predictably, i.e. sometimes it trims, sometimes it doesn't (I've even had it cut into the drawing). I shouldn't be the fault of pixel colour, because the final images were constructed using a layer filled with white and a mask filled with black for the drawings. I can't imagine what the problem is.
Perhaps you do not understand how Trim works it may not be the tool you should be using.  I also do not understand your discription of your Photoshop document construction please give us more details. Perhaps a screen captire or an example PSD file.  The following in from Photoshop Help.
Crop an image using the Trim command
The Trim command crops an image by removing unwanted image data in different ways than the Crop command. You can crop an image by trimming surrounding transparent pixels, or background pixels of the color you specify.
    Choose Image > Trim.
In the Trim dialog box, select an option:
Transparent Pixels to trim away transparency at the edges of the image, leaving the smallest image containing nontransparent pixels.
Top Left Pixel Color to remove an area the color of the upper-left pixel from the image.
Bottom Right Pixel Color to remove an area the color of the lower right pixel from the image.
Select one or more areas of the image to trim away: Top, Bottom, Left, or Right.
    2. I have several hundred drawings, and they vary in size. Canvas size expects an absolute input, which I can't predict in advance, and having to compute it manually is tedious and error prone. What I need is to add a relative amount. Better yet, trim within x pixels (or whatever) of the drawing....
No Canvas size has options so added canvas can be relative to the curremt camvas size and the amount of canvas can be relative to it DPI resolution or in absolute pixel size. Where the canvas is added can also be controlled by moving the anchor point.  You wrote your document vary in size.  Even if you have a mixture of Web size images and Print size images you can create an action to add a border relative to an image's size.  Adding a little script would be helpful for dealing with size. I'll explain your images have some size you have no idea about size in an action however you can still deal with it.  An image size is determined by the number of pixels and its DPI resolution.  When it come to Web Images DPI resolution is not important Pixel size is For Displays only use their DPI and display pixels at their DPI resolition Web images are sized to fit within some  display size like 800x600 pixels.
The best way to deal with Image size in an action is to first save its current DPI resolution, then scale the image to a known width or height, make your changes based on the now known syze, then restore the image to its original DPI scale.   An Action can not save and restore and images DPI on its own it needs a little Photoshop scripting to do that.  I'll give you that.  So to add a border the will be approate for an image's size is easy
Setp 1 Script Save and Restore DPI Resolition
Step 2 Scale image to 8" wide.  Image Size Resample NOT check, Set width to 8" Click OK. All the does is change the DPI
Step 3 Add 1" border and all sides. Canvas size check Relative, set both width and height to 2", leave anchor point centered and click OK.  Add some number of pixels on all sides based on DPI.
Step 4 Script Save and Restore DPI Resolition.

  • How to get classification for a given material and material type in MM

    Hello Friends,
One of my developer colleagues is struggling to find out : how to get classification for a given material and material type in MM?
He is looking for probable table and table fields to Select from.
I would appreciate seriously any help in this regard.
    ~Yours Sincerely

    Hi
Below given the flow and table details for a given class and class type.
    - Table KLAH --> This contains the "Internal class no" [ for the given Class & Class type ]
    - Table KSML --> This contains the " internal character numbers " [ nothing but characteristics attached to the class ] , which can be fetched with the above fetched internal class no
    - Table AUSP --> This table contains the objects ( material ) attached to the internal characters of that class
    - Table CABNT --> This table contains the "Description" for the internal character numbers.

  • How to find out the infoProvider for a given dimension table?

    Experts:
In RSA1, I want to find out the infoProvider for a given dimension table.
But I am not sure how to display the tables linked to a given infoProvider.
Could you provide a way to display all tables linked to a given infoProvider?
    Thanks a lot!

See, The dimension table starts with Dcubename1 and incremental Dcubename2 .... so on
    Ex.ZSD_C01 is your cube name
Dim tables starts for this is /BIC/DZSD_C011 /BIC/DZSD_C012 ...
Goto - LISTSCHEMA  - derive cube name from given dim table and enter cube name  - execute - will show you all the tables

  • How do I crop a PDF with Preview.

How do I crop a PDF with Preview.
For some strange reason, when I crop a PDF using preview the rest of the PDF is still “their” when opened using other software.
I truly want to crop a PDF and have the uncropped portions completely go away.  Do I really have to open Photoshop to do this?

"there" not "their"  -  unless I am really confused about what you are doing !
I put a white rectangle over what I wanted to crop out of the pdf I was working on.
Not a  proper solution, i then needed to use "export as PDF" of my PDF so that the next user of the document couldn't simply lift off the rectangle I had put on the document to cover what ideally I would have removed.
Add mark up is something else I tried, to black out the text that I wanted concealed, but we are limited to a slim choice of colours, not including black.
I would like to see a function "crop" with "crop inside" and "crop outside" options. I am not familiar with Adobe or other software. Presumably since they invented it, Adobe is the place to go if you have repeated exercises requiring meddling with Adobe documents.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • How do I crop finished photo - PS CS 4?

Hello - I've finished a photo and have flattened all the layers, and even unlocked the new flattened layer, and now I want to crop this photo, but when I go to Image, the crop feature is grayed out - how do I crop away unwanted portions of this photo? Am running photoshop CS 4.
    Thanks in advance.

Right, you should make a selection first, and then the Image > Crop command is available:)

  • How do I crop without aperture re-enlarging the photo? Can I maintain size of crop without drastically affecting size of mega pixel output for online data transfer to print site?

HOW DO I CROP WITHOUT APERTURE RE-SIZING THE PHOTO? CAN I MAINTAIN THE SELECTED CROP SIZE (VERY SLIGHT EDGE TRIM) WITHOUT
DRASTICALLY AFFECTING THE MEGAPIXEL SIZE BEING SENT TO ONLINE PRINTING SITE?

Note the "Size" read out on the crop popup this tells you the size your cropped image wil be. eg. The image here is a 21 megapixel image, cropping the image like so reduces the file size to 5MP, your exported file size can only be a max of this 5MP.
    Hope this Helps, (HTH)

How to improve the performance in given query?
    Query is..
    PARAMETERS : p_vbeln type lips-vbeln.

    par_werks TYPE LIPS-WERKS,
    PAR_MBLNR TYPE MSEG-MBLNR .

    IF par_charg IS NOT INITIAL.
    SELECT single max( mblnr )
    INTO par_mblnr

AND werks EQ par_werks (index on werks only)
    AND charg EQ par_charg.
    ENDIF.
    Regards
    Steve

    Hi steve,
Can't you use the material in your query (and not only the batch)?
I am assuming your system has an index MSEG~M by MANDT + MATNR + WERKS (+ other fields). Depending on your system (how many different materials you have), this will probably speed up the query considerably.
Anyway, in our system we ended up by creating an index by CHARG, but leave as a last option, only if selecting by matnr and werks is not good enough for your scenario.
    Hope this helps,
    Rui Dantas

  • HT2639 I am making a holiday card. I keep trying to crop the picture but it appears to big and only 2 out of the three people in the picture appear in the allowed area..How do I crop and size it to fit correctly?? Size is roughly 3.5 x 5.5??

I am trying to make a holiday card.  The Front has pictures running up and down the left and right side. In the middle is the rough 3.5 x 5.5 opening that I would like to place the 3 person picture in.  Problem is, only two of the three kids in it fit. How do I crop / make it shrink to fit correctly in this opening?  I have tried cropping but it still does not size correctly. under crop in edit, what should I do?? Thanks!

Well, I wouldn't go that far.. the G5 Quad is still a very capable machine.. A machine is obsolete only if it fails to do what you want it to do, and those at TenFourFox would argue your point.. as far as an ipod or ipod touch? Why bother when I can charge it in the wall rather via from the computer's USB port. Ok I decided that I can turn my mac pro into a 24 hour/seven day a week hosting server for all my computers.. It won't use more than 1 core, but at least it will allow me to host 1000's of files and backups of all my original software on all my machines.
To Apple, the Quad maybe obsolete, but to me it is far from it as it runs just as it did when it was brand new. It is semi brand new anyway.
Thank you all for your advice.
