CS5 html pack video question

I'm now getting more and more clients both old and new that want their sites built for I Pad abd I Phone / smartphone viewing. Been working inside the html pack and seem to be getting the hang of the separate css. My question may or may not be in the right forum but I'l ask anyway, I have a few photogallery solutions for html 5 now comes the video solution. I can surf for hours and get different info on open source html5 video players, is Quicktime html 5 compatible?
Where do I go from here?
anybody?
rd

Hi
html5 is a spec and not limited to any specific plug-in, device or browser, you can even use flash in html5.
To use html5 just change your doc type to the html5 doc type, and then insert the video tag, however using quicktime will immediately eliminate more users than using flash and eliminating iPhone/Pad users would.
The 'simplest' solution is to use the slideshow pro and director for html5 video compatibility, (when it is released see- http://slideshowpro.net/news/archive/2010/07/announcing-slideshowpro-mobile.php/) or upload your videos to a site such as UTube and link directly to the video on that site.

  • DW CS5 and choppy video in IE

    Problem
    Flash video inserted in a webpage made in DW CS5 and played back in IE8 plays back at a frame rate that is too low (looks "choppy").
    Flash video inserted in a webpage and played back in IE8 plays back fine and smoothly / correct frame rate.
    In CS3
    Insert / Media / Flash Video / Browse / choosing a 480x270 FLV video at 29.97 fps
    Clicking "detect size"
    Chosing "clear skin 1"
    Saving
    Now a screen/message somes up:  "Copy Dependet Files" comes up. It says:
    "This page uses an object or behaviour that requires supporting files. The following files have been copied to your local site. You must upload them to your server in order for the object or behaviour to function"
    And then mentions ONE file:
    "......../CS3%20test/Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js"
    I click "OK" and it's saved.
    I now go to the folder where I have the index-file and the other files.
    I right click on index.html and open it with Internet Explorer 8. It plays smooth and just as expected.
    I right click on index.html and open it with Internet Firefox. It plays smooth and just as expected.
    Summing up: Inserting a flash video in Dreamweaver CS3 seems to work fine when I play it in Internet Explorer 8.
    In CS5
    Insert / Media  / FLV...  /
    I prompts me to save now. I save - and get the "Insert FLV" menu.
    I click "Browse" and choose the video I want.
    I click "Detect Size" and then hit "OK"
    Now I hit "Save again". Now a message comes up:
    "This page uses an object or behaviour that requires supporting files. The following files have been copied to your local site. You must upload them to your server in order for the object or behaviour to function"
    Now TWO files are mentioned:
    Scripts/expressInstall.swf
    Scripts/swfobject_modified.js
    I click "OK"
    I now go to the folder where I have the index-file and the other files that I made in Dreamweaver CS5.
    I right click on index.html and open it with Internet Explorer 8. It plays at a too low frame rate of 10-15 fps and not as expected.
    I right click on index.html and open it with Internet Firefox. It plays smooth and just as expected.
    Summing up: Inserting a flash video in Dreamweaver CS5 makes the video playing back at a too low frame rate in Internet Explorer 8.
    I uploaded the two versions (CS3 and CS5) to a website and had colleagues view it with different browsers and indeed IE8 always displays the video made in DW CS3 smooth and in DW CS5 as choppy/too low frame rate.
    QUESTION
    What am I doing wrong here? Any settings I've missed here? I can see that the file saving behaviour is a little different. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    David

    1. The videos were encoded identically in both situations. In fact, it is the exact same FLV file being used... Of  course, otherwise it would be a meaningless comparison... But I have tried with numerous different FLV files, different framerates, bitrates and sizes. The problem is identitcal. CS3 plays fine in IE8 and CS5 plays choppy and with a lower frame rate in IE8. The scenario is the same when I compare CS3 and CS5.
    2. No I can't post anything. It's just a low frame rate that's all. Imagin a clip playing at 8 fps. That's what it looks like. Everything works normally, just a low frame rate. Just use any NLE and set the project to play something at 8 -12 fps and that is exactly what it looks like.
    Flash video inserted in CS5 Dreamweaver results in IE8 playing back the video at a too low frame rate. Firefox plays it back fine at full frame rate. This indicates the video itself is fine. Something is happening between IE8 and CS5 DW perhaps?
    Any more ideas? Thanks and advance.

  • Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack - CS5.1 Compatibility

    Is the Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack from Adobe Labs, an add-on designed for Illustrator 15.0.2, compatible with the Illustrator CS5.1 version that shipped with Creative Suite 5.5?
    I asked the same question in the special Adobe Labs sub-forum for the HTML5 pack. But it doesn't look like that forum has a whole lot of traffic. Someone posted the question a week ago and received no response.

    Do you have this Item in the Objects Menu?

  • Java word HTML microsoft com question

    Hi:
    I am very new to Java and I don't need to you write any code for me, so please don't flame me :D
    I am in the process of planning a utility that will convert/assemble Microsoft Word Docs into HTMLs and then build search/sort/etc functionalities on the HTMLs.
    My question: I guess this can be done in Java via COM bridge in Windows. Is it the same on Macintosh/Apple platform? Do Apple even have a COM interface as well that a Java program can utilize? If not and I am limited to the Windows platform, I might not even need use Java at all.
    Any other suggestions toward this idea is greatly appreciated. I got it to work with Perl and some freeware utlity that convets Word->Txt, and I then generate HTML from Txt with my links and stuff. I just want to make it more user friendly by providing some kind of interface/configurations.
    Thanks!
    Ray

    I have not used it, but you might look into POI to parse the word docs, then you can output whatever you want - you might look into ECS to generate the HTML.

  • Safari HTML 5 video audio stops

    When watching HTML 5 video (Youtube for example) in Safari if I move the playhead the audio stops. The video will resume with no audio. Oddly this behaviour happens in Quicklook too for example when quicklooking an MP3. I am up-to-date with OS and software updates.
    Suggestions
    Thanks

    I woud prefer to use the HTML 5 settings for YouTubes but the great point is that it's all HTML 5 video. YouTube was an example. Additionally, the issue would still remain for Quicklook as well.
    Any other ideas or links to threads. I've looked but have not found anything helpful.

  • How do I play an HTML 5 video on my iPad through Photon?

    I downloaded Photon to my ipad so I could play an HTML 5 video but when I tried going to the video link through Photon, the page still gave the 'html 5 not enabled' message. What do I do to play the video?

    I was wanting to watch a TV show from the internet but when I tried, I got the message 'html 5 not enabled on this device'. I read. on another forum that iPad is HTML 5 enabled, it's just it doesn't support Flash; the problem is therefore with the website rather than the iPad. I read that if the website doesn't have its own app (I couldn't find one) then I need to download a flash player such as photon; I thought the TV show would work then, but I'm still getting the 'HTML 5 not enabled' message. I don't get it!

  • Insert HTML 5 Video

    I am attempting to insert an mp4 video file. Several tutorials show a drop down menu for "insert html 5 video." This is not an option in my updated version of CS6. All assistance is greatly appreciated!

    That particular menu is only available in the Cloud Subscription version of DWCS6. If you have a perpetual license version, you do not get the menu updates. Here is a good reference for HTML5 <video>...

    Keep in mind, you need more than one file type to cover all browsers.

  • Html 5 video not working

    I have a very simple air project. It places a stagewebview an loads a page (the code it below if needed). The page has a button which tests if html 5 video is supported by your browser. If I run the code in the debugger I can see that I have video support. If I publish to iPad I have video support. The problem is when I publish to desktop, mac or pc, it does not have support. Not sure why it works in debugger but no in a published app. How do I get html 5 video to work on an air for desktop application?
    import flash.media.StageWebView;
    import flash.geom.Rectangle;
    var webView:StageWebView = new StageWebView();
    webView.viewPort = new Rectangle(0,0,stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight);
    webView.stage = this.stage;
    webView.loadURL("http://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_video.asp");

    Adobe Air support native and non-native StageWebView appearance. In non-native you can't use modern html5 tags. For solving this issue you need to switch your Air app to Native StageWebView mode (desktop only, mobile always use native).
    var webView:StageWebView = new StageWebView(true);
    Just add true and your StageWebView will use Safari / IE component / activeX for html rendering. This solve your problem.
    If your Air sdk don't have this option - try to update your Air sdk.
    P.S. it's not a bug.

  • Viewing HTML 5 videos on iPhone 3GS??

    I have an iPhone 3GS, and as I understand it, I should be able to watch HTML 5 videos on it. However, when I've tried to watch a video, I usually get a message that says "We're sorry.
    This player is not enabled for HTML5 delivery." (that was copied from fox.com when I tried to watch an episode of glee.)
    I thought that maybe I just had an outdated version of safari, but yesterday I updated all my software, both iTunes and iPhone, but I tried again today and gotthw same message.
    Does anyone else have this issue? And do you know how I can fox it?
    Thanks!

    I may be missing something, but I can't find any evidence on Fox's site that they provide episodes using HTML5 (which doesn't have a standard video format, by the way). All the episodes appear to be available only in Flash format, and there is no Flash player for the iPhone. On your computer, make sure you have the latest version of Flash Player from Adobe.
    Regards.

  • Linux_64, Youtube: HTML 5 videos are black although sound and buttons work perfectly

    Hi,
    I have an up-to-date Firefox on a 64 bits GNU/Linux, also up-to-date (it's PCLinuxOS).
    Flash videos work sufficiently well (quite slow though, but I guess that's normal), but I have a problem with HTML 5 videos on youtube (haven't tried other ones): the buttons are displayed correctly and are functional, the sound of the video is rendered without problems. But there is no video, all I get is a black image.
    When I right-click on "Stats for nerds", I see:
    Dimensions: 640x360
    Resolution: 0x0
    Stream type: https
    Mime Type: video/mp4; codecs="avc1.42001E, mp4a.40.2"
    All the "decoded frames", "video bytes decoded", etc. fields are empty ("-").
    I have tried to launch firefox in safe mode, disabling hardware acceleration (which anyhow doesn't work on linux, does it?), emptied the cache, none of it worked...
    What do you think?

    This is not about codecs or media support in Firefox, but about native GStreamer support in Linux.
    Note that disabling this pref also prevents playing other supported media formats like mp3 via the HTML5 media player.
