CS5 Illustrator Multiple Glitches??

Hi,
first post so hello to all.
I've been an Adobe user for 16 years and the new CS5 glitches are driving me mental.
I'm getting the below issues and i'm hoping someone can offer some guidance to if it's a program problem?
1) Strokes seem to be snapping to 1pt or above regardless of changing manually by typing in to strokes setting or by choosing the specific measurement in the drop down window in stokes pallete for example a 0.5pt etc.
2) The Align and Distribute item doesn't seem to be working correctly. They are definitely not aligning a set distance from each object
for example 10 boxes across the same horizontal line (ungrouped) do not distribute evenly. Sometimes sorts out on restart but restarting too regular and disruptive. It's a couple of pixels easily.
3) Brush strokes seem unresponsive to stroke weights at times and similar to Stroke problem snap to one weight and then wont change.
I've been using CS for many years and only encountered this problem with the CS5 version upgrade.
4) Moving items on the artboard/workarea, again moving seems to be clumsy and not as spot on as previus versions. Zooming in and moving seems to have a large era of movement and snapping to certain areas even though I have checked through various settings to see if snapped to point etc.
I thought there might have been an upgrade or patch for this but couldn't find one. Contacted Adobe and no help unless i'd like a support contract.
I am working on an IMAC – 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
3GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM with Mac OSX 10.6.6 operating system. 1920 x 1200 monitor setting.

All of those are due to a setting you chose "Align to pixel grid". Turn it off for the document and perhaps for all the objects it's already been applied to. It's in the new document dialog for new documents and in the transform panel for existing documents and objects.
