CS5 is not seeing existing, custom icc profiles. howto?

Briefly: Mac Pro running Snow Leopard. Upgraded from CS4 to CS5 and my existing, custom icc profiles appear but are unavailable (grayed out)
The profiles are in the usual places: /Library/ColorSync/Profiles
AND /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles.
I'm the only user and I have Admin privileges.
CS4 still seems to be connected and using my needed profiles.
Bridge, Illustrator and InDesign, either don't see the profile or it is grayed out.
Photoshop sees the profile and allows me to use it as my Ps default.
Any thoughts as to where else to place the profile or how to get Bridge to see it (and therefore sync the other products)?

Mac OS 10.8.4 is still in beta. You need to be reporting this to Apple.
What happens if you move these profiles to the Adobe/Profiles folder, or the users/Library/Colorsync/Profiles folder?
There has been a lot of discussion of this on many forums with no solution.
What forums? A google search turns up nothing but this thread.
I have not seen this problem with the released versions of 10.8.

  • Cs5.5 - OSX 10.7 CMYK ICC Profile not visible?

    Hi
    Hoping someone can help here.
IT department have installed a new Macpro into our prepress/design area using OSX 10.7 Lion with CS5.5 and now we are not able to use/see any of the custom CMYK ICC profile we use for printers - laser or epson wide format inkjet on any of the CS5 apps.  Prior to the new mac we had no issues as we were using 10.6.8 and CS4.  I have read through many forums and release notes regarding issues with Lion and CS5 but haven't found any reference to Custom ICC Profile issues.
The ICC profile we urgently need is for our Epson 7800 using custom stock for proofing - specifically supplied for our color management to output to Forgra39 standard.
Had a specialist come in and he's baffled as well.
Any help with this would be MOST appreciated.
    Thanks Mike

The ICC profiles are not visible to Applications as Output profiles i.e. Printer profiles.  We have double checked the paths and they are correct and the profiles are installed.  but they do not show up in Indesign, illustrator etc as a printer profile... In fact no cmyk profiles (even those supplied from Adobe i.e fogra39.icc) show up.   When we open up colorsync we can see them but when we try any application to output to a cmyk print (laser or inkjet) the cmyk profiles are not visible.
any help much appreciated in advance
    cheers Mike

  • PS CS5 Image Display Differs From Used ICC Profile In Win 7

    Hi,
on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 machine, I just calibrated my Dell SP2309W monitor using an i1DisplayPro and basICColor 5, creating a ICC v2 profile (I am aware of the problems under Windows with ICC v4 profiles).
It created the ICC profile and applied it to be used by Windows. I double checked under COLOR MANAGEMENT that the new ICC profile is being used. Although I can see that the new ICC is being used (desktop appearance changes), there are a few issues I am experiencing:
    (1.) Windows Photo Viewer
The thumbnails in Windpows Explorer look fine (they DO use the new ICC profile), when I double click a jpeg and open the image it DOES NOT use the new ICC profile. When I click the PLAY SLIDESHOW button (starting the slideshow) in the opened image in Windows Photo Viewer, the images DO use the new ICC profile.
    (2.) Internet Browsers
All current internet browser (Firefox, IE, Safari and Chrome) DO use the new ICC profile and display the image correctly.
    (3.) Photoshop CS 5
When I open the same image - that Windows Photo Viewer does not correctly displays (according to the new ICC profile) - in Photoshop CS5, I get the same image display that Windows Photo Viewer gives me (when not thumbnail or not in slideshow mode) - it appears to be the sRGB display.
My color settings in PS CS5 are: North America General Purpose 2 > sRGB IEC 61966-2.1.
When I go to View > Proof Setup > Monitor RGB I get the image display using the new ICC profile.
Why does the image look different in PS than my calibrated monitor should output ?
I was under the impression (please correct me if I am wrong), that the sole purpose for calibrating my monitor was to get a uniform display across (ICC aware) applications. Even when one applies different color spaces to a document in PS, I thought the output on my calibrated screen done by the graphic card should always be according to my calibration and the settings in the ICC profile being used.
What Am I doing wrong or what am I misunderstanding ?
Any help or input is appreciated !
    Thanks.
    - M

    Hello,
A note on monitor calibration: calibrating your monitor will not guarentee that every application will display color correctly, it's more of a step along the pipeline, and for the preview part of a color workflow it's the last step.  Here's how color translation follows for an ICC workflow when previewing to a monitor:
Image Color Numbers > Document Tag or Workspace Profile > Monitor Profile
For non-color managed applications, if the original document is or isn't tagged with a color profile it will be translated directly to the monitor profile anyway.  This is the equivalent in Photoshop of selecting "Monitor" in soft proofing.  Selecting monitor in softproofing will bypass the tagged or workspace profile to translate colors directly through the monitor profile.
For most automatic color managed applications (like Firefox), the image will be translated through the tagged profile and then sent through the monitor profile.  If the image is untagged or the profile is unrecognized, the colors get sent directly to the monitor profile.
For Photoshop, a tagged document will have its profile respected and then sent to the monitor.  An untagged document will be assigned the workspace profile, which acts like a temporary document profile, and then gets sent to the monitor.  This is often why users will notice Photoshop behaves differently from other applications.  It's usually a case of the workspace coming into play.  By default the workspace profile is set to sRGB.  You can change this in Edit > Color Settings.
The purpose of the workspace is originally for printing workflows, as a way of keeping consistant color translations when dealing with both tagged and untagged documents.  For web output workflows it can be useful for viewing everything through sRGB, which is typical of the average monitor output (not so with newer wide-gamut monitors, another source of confusion...) combined with the fact that originally most web browsers were not color managed.  Hence viewing everything through sRGB is pretty close to what most monitors see and what untagged/unmanaged docs will look like.
Monitor calibration is useful only because it brings your monitor output to a "known state".  In traditional workflows the monitor was always a middle-man, a preview device which was useful for getting an idea of what the printed output would look like before you print it.  Since print colorspaces are often smaller than display spaces, it's feasible and useful to narrow down the monitor/display space and calibrate it to a known state, so that even if it doesn't totally match the print, you'll get used to its differences/limitations and they'll be consistent so long as the calibration is maintained.
For web output, your final output is often another user's computer monitor, which can have any form of behavior (most standard monitors are pretty close to sRGB, or use sRGB as an operating system workspace (default monitor profile).  Wide gamuts behave differently, but I'm not sure if there's a particular ICC space that they closely match, or if different wide-gamuts are even that close to each other in their display color spaces.
    Hope this helps!

  • Color management - Spyder2 PRO or Custom ICC profile?

I've got a Canon MP800 (multi-function inkjet) that I use at home for prints. As I get more serious about photography, I'm noticing that the colors I get on my prints are not matching what I see on my monitor very well.
I'm using an Apple LCD, and I've done the software calibration and created a custom monitor profile. From within Aperture, I then use the canned Canon print profile for the type of paper I'm using. In the print dialog box, I select "no color management". Still, the prints tend to have a slight orange cast or they are "warmer" than I see them on my monitor.
I am considering two possible next steps, and I'd like to get your feedback on which would be most appropriate for my set-up.
    1. Get the Spyder2 PRO Studio hardware/software combo, or
    2. Get a custom ICC profile made for my printer through Neil Barstow/Pixl
They cost about the same, but I'm wondering what would give me the best prints. I'm still a novice when it comes to color management, but I'm reading Martin Evening's "PS CS2 for Photographers" and learning a lot.
    Your help is appreciated!

I thought I'd mention that I have the EyeOne Display 2, and it came with a certificate that takes $200 off the csot of the more advanced system if I decide to upgrade at some point...
So the earlier note about profiling the monitor first is a good one, and you might be out as much money if you do need to also profile the printer.
I'll add a note that everyone really needs to profile monitors, especailly if you have two or you aren't really comapring apples to apples when doing image comparisons across both screens.
Confusingly the EyeOne instructions claim if you have two monitors running on one video card it can only profile one of the monitors. That's not true on the Mac, you just need to move the menu bar to the screen you wish to profile. OS X has an icc profile per screen that gets set by the software.

  • No preview in FCP X when using custom icc profiles

    Hello,
since I switched to Lion 10.7.4 from Snow Leopard I have no preview when I want to playback videos from the event browser. I calibrated my Eizo Display with the latest ColorNavigator6 software using a Spyder4 device. The generated Eizo icc profiles are version 2.2. My second display is calibrated with the Spyder Pro4 Software. This icc profile is v2.4.
What I found out so far:
    - I open System Preferences > Displays > click on "Color" tab and check "Show profiles for this display only". When I change to a profile that is listed everything works fine. But my custom icc profiles both are not available now.
    - when I uncheck "Show profiles for this display only" my custom icc profiles get listed. When I select one of them Final Cut Pro X (10.0.5) doesn´t preview anything and hangs.
    - I compared my custom profiles with one that is listed "for this display only" using ColorSync. The only difference that I found were some missing and different tags in the custom profiles.
Do I have to modify my profiles to work with calibrated Displays in FCP X? How / what do I modify?
    Regards, Thomas

So how does color managment work in FCP X when I can´t calibrate my monitor or use icc profiles from a calibration software?

  • How do I correct the error: adobe acrobat 9 distiller can not find its standard icc profiles.

How do I correct the error: Adobe Acrobat 9 distiller can not find its standard ICC profiles. Please reinstall adobe acrobat to correct this problem?
I have tried all the suggestion in the forums. But I keep getting the error. I reinstalled AA9 Pro and downloaded the updates. But I keep getting the error.
I recently upgraded to Windows 7.

You have permissions issues on the respective folders, e.g. Windows\System32\Color and so on. Fix them and allow all apps to access the contents.

  • Distiller can not find its sdandard ICC profiles

I have Acrobat X installed on Windows 7 (x64) as part of CS6 Master collection.
Every 4-5 days during simple browsing I get an pop up with error:
Distiller can not find its standard ICC profiles. Please reinstall Adobe Acrobat to correct this problem. And all .pdf files won't open any more till I reinstall Acrobat. Reinstalling it every week is pretty annoying, any idea how to get rid of it?

    Hey Tatjana.Esin,
Please install Distiller ICC profiles from the below given link:
Adobe - ICC profiles : For Windows
Unzip this file and copy all .icc files to this location: "C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color"
These new files would probably overwrite old ones thus resolving the issue.
Please check and let me know.

  • All line items on a Cost Center Are archived, do not see in custom reports - error No actual line items were selected

    Hello, experts !
    Please advise,
    I have a cost center,
on witch I know there are bookings,
    1. I do KSB1, have message "No actual line items were selected"
    2. I select - extras - data source - archive
in this way I can see my items.
    ok.
    maybe all bookings are archived.
    no:
I de a new movement on this CC - KB11N (exemple) - and on the new one I have the same problem
I se it only when I check "archive",
and do not see it on custom reports.
    Why ?
    Ay idea ?

    Dear Jonny,
    Check the T Code: S_ALR_87013611
Then T Code: KSB1 by removing all the filters like date restriction..etc.
Still if you are not finding the postings:
Check the postings in the T code FAGLB03 - Display Balances by giving GL Account.
Postings happen in co module if there is a cost object.
If there is no cost object it will not flow to controlling, that will be in FI.
What you need to do is:
    Select your GL
    Select your Payment date
    Select your Document number.
You can check the same in FBL3N also.
go to the transaction summary and verify the cost object whether it is a cost center or Order...etc.
Also check whether the payment is in parking stage ....?

  • Can't see the installed icc profiles for my paper in print module

I have downloaded and installed the icc profiles for my favourite Canson and Crane Museo papers on my new Macbook Pro but they don't show up in the options box in the LR 4 print module. Is there another step I have missed? Thanks in advance.

Where did you install the profiles? They should go into
Library/Colorsync/Profiles in your home folder or at the root level of your
hard disk. If you put it in that folder in your home folder, they show up
in user, if you put them in the root Library folder, they show up in
    "Computer" in Colorsync utility

  • Photoshop CS5.1 not seeing any Trade Gothic fonts

I'm sorry if this question has been answered before, but I didnt seem to find it anywhere. I cannot use ANY Trade Gothic fonts within my Photoshop at all. I have tried on different accounts on my Mac Pro and they all are able to access it and change to to but on mine it never shows up on my list. It's definitely in my Fonts Book. I'd like to add that this happened after I upgraded from 10.6 to 10.7.4 but that seems to not make too much sense since all the other accounts on this machine can see the font just fine. Please help!

I have a new hard drive and OS (Yosemite)
When I try to install Photoshop, I get 'configuration error 15' and think it may be a registration problem.
My late husband bought CS5 for me and I don't know his password.
Our email addresses were with BT at that time and I've changed to another provider and the previous email addresses no longer exist.
This means that I can't alter the password.
I can play with my existing PSDs but can not get JPGs to open in Photoshop.
    I get the error message.
I don't know much about computers but am a wizz with photoshop ... restoring and colourising pics

  • Could not save because the ICC profile description is invalid

I'm getting this error whenever trying to do a "save" or "save as" from Photoshop CC. I've tried converting to different color profiles but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Even if I create a new blank document and try to save it, I get the same error message.
I'm on a Mac running 10.8.5. Doing a search for the exact error message has come up empty. Previous versions had a similar error but it occurred upon opening a file, not saving. So if anyone has some thoughts, it would be greatly appreciated.

Same error intermittently on different files. Windows7 64bit CS4. Saving a file in Photoshop - working from local hard drive - and got the file in use can not save error. We tried changing the name, saving as a different file type with no success. I closed absolutely every application that was running and then stopped all non windows processes from Task Manager and still file in use.
I was finally able to save by choosing "NONE" for the preview instead of Tiff 8-bit in the save options.
The bug is in Photoshop and it is putting a file lock on the preview file that it creates and then not alowing any save with the preview option checked.
After saving without a preview we could close PS and reopen then open the saved file and resave with the preview selected. Closing PS unlocked the preview file.

  • LR2.1 Can Not See Existing DNG files

I am getting the "could not be used because original file could not be found" message from an image in a *collection*.
When I open the Show in Explorer and then the "locate" dialogue the file box is completely empty. there are no "supported files" to see.
When I go to the folder menu and look, the same folder is filled with DNG files, even the one "not seen" in the previous step.
Since I have lots of changes to many of the "not found" DNG files in that folder, I'd like to get LR to see them again.
    "Synchronize Folder" doesn't do it.
    Any suggestions would be wonderful!
    Windows XP LR 2.1
    DNG's originally imported from NEF's.

When I navigate to the folder that LR suggests, it's empty. Since the only files LR will permit in that folder view are "supported files", I can't force it to show "all files."
    The file is there
1- I can see it in Windows explorer
2 - other files in the same collection are visible on "show in exlporer"
But the files that have lost their links have *really* lost 'em :>)
We'll see if the update helps...
    Thanks for the suggestions.
