CS5 Knowledge Panel?

I missed this, How do I get it? Is it still available?

There is a CS Live button in the upper right corner of the main Photoshop CS5 window, if you haven't disabled it via the preferences.

  • Pro retouchers thoughts on CS5 adjustment panel?

I've been using CS5 extensively the last few days, I gave CS4 a try too when it came out and I just don't like the adjustment panel at all. I see that the text field can be selected automatically which is a start but I find it takes more clicking around and more tablet pen movements to get what I need done compared to CS3. In CS3 if you are in an adjustment and want to cancel just hit escape and the window and the layer just go away. In cs5 you can command-z or delete until it goes away - but the panel is still open. In CS3 hold option to turn the cancel button into reset was great now you have to find one of those icons at the bottom of the panel. Of course in curves command-clicking set points on the curve but now you need to select the eyedropper? Not more efficient in my opinion. Now whats funny about CS5 if I set an action to open adjustment layers it opens in the old CS3 style windows, which is great but my ususal key commands for adjustment layers don't have function-keys. And if you open an adjustment from the layer stack even if it was made through an action it still opens in the new CS5 adjustment panel. Weird that its not consistent. I just really wish there was a preference to have a choice of either the CS3 or CS4/5 adjustment layers. Its such an important part of a retoucher's day that I find it jarring to completely change this without considering users that might be fine with what worked before. I am curious how others feel? Am I missing something that makes it ok to work with?

Yes, I will repeat what I have said many times on these forums, that the Adjustments Panel is a move backwards. In Particular the modal version of Curves is much easier to work with than the panel version. Placing, and nudging of points, feels cleaner, and graphics refresh is smoother. And the modal panel itself is much easier, less intrusive to slide around and close. Display options are also easier to toggle in Curves.
The panel offers no real advantage for professional use. Anyone who thinks its important to be able to change blend modes and opacity of adjustment layers while altering their values - well lets just say, it would be a fairly good indication of their level of expertise and imaging knowledge, if they seriously think that offers any advantage.
Now whats funny about CS5 if I set an action to open adjustment layers it opens in the old CS3 style windows, which is great but…
Yes, if you use this method you will be working in the best way available now in CS5 and 4 I think. (Actions, and the very useful script that C. Pfaffenblicher has linked to, allowing you to open existing Adjustments modally)  - You can assign an F key to bring up the Script (but unfortunately it doesn't work on Vibrance or Exposure adjustments, and I haven't managed to rework it myself yet to include these).
I just really wish there was a preference to have a choice of either the CS3 or CS4/5 adjustment layers
Yes, so do I - its been asked for, and probably not a hard thing to code in.
I'd say there there are so many different levels of Photoshop user out there that many are not going to be bothered, but some of the really high end power users (myself included) have a real problem with an interface that frankly is a giant step backward when it comes to productivity. As far as I can tell, the more advanced you are, the less likely you are to like the direction Adobe is going in.
Yes I whole-heartedly agree with everything PDF says in this post. Perhaps wouldn't go as far as "giant step backward in productivity", but I've yet to meet another experienced Retoucher who thinks the panel is a better solution.

  • Disabling font tab in InDesign CS5 Control panel

    Hi,
Is there any option to disable the Font change option in the InDesign CS5 Control panel. That is the user should not change the font using Control panel.
    Thanks,
    Gopal

What I need here is, whenever the user change the font using Control panel, an alert should be made to the user and the font should not be changed.
I am confused why the method the user chooses matters.
Why is it a problem if they use the Control panel but not the Character panel?
I don't think you can achieve this with scripting.
With substantial effort, you maybe able to detect when they change a font and pop up an alert, but it is pretty difficult.
It would be more doable but still hard in the C++ SDK.

  • Cannot export a panel into adobe cs5 plugin/panels

  • I am looking for some hotels on mozilla and encountered a strange issue, the hotel ad for first slot is not aligned in knowledge panel.

I was looking for a hotel on mozilla and the first hotel exhibiting in the ad is not aligned with knowledge panel. However it is showing correct result on other browsers. This error is not just contained for one hotel ad but to other as well. I am just curious if it's an issue from their end or some technical syntax error in mozilla
    Please find an attachment.
    Thanks.

You may have zoomed web page(s) by accident.
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl/Command+0 (zero))
If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but to use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with text not being displayed properly.

  • InDesign CS5: Zombie panels

I've had this problem with CS4 but it seems much more persistent (and annoying) in CS5: Panels that insist on reappearing whenever you switch workspaces, no matter how many times you close them.
The panels that appear are library panels and the Sample Buttons panel. This happens every time I switch workspaces and often when I first start the application. The library panels sometimes reappear after being dormant for weeks. To my knowledge, I've never intentionally opened the Sample Buttons panel.
I've done all the usual things. I've deleted my user preferences, restarted InDesign, rebooted. I've gone through each of my workspaces and deleted all of the unwanted panels individually, then resaved the workspaces. More than once. I've even deleted my workspaces and rebuilt them from scratch. But the panels continue to pop up -- usually right in the middle of the desktop.
The library panel problem can be fixed by deleting or moving the library. But my libraries live in certain locations on my hard drive for a reason, and it seems silly to keep moving them just to prevent a problem that shouldn't be happening in the first place. (Sort of like playing InDesign Whack-a-Mole.)
Anyone have any ideas on what's going on?
    Steve

You don't mention your OS, so I don't know specifiacally where to send you, but I'd try closing ID, then renaming the InDesign SavedData file (you'll find path information in Replace Your Preferences )  and then I'd go to your user library or profile and find the workspaces folder and delete any XML file with the word "current" in it, then relaunch ID

  • Cs5 ASSETS panel - dimensions of images?

    Hi!
Often need to find out smartly and fast exact dimensions of images I put into the documents for css rules especially. So I need to look up in folder where they exists to remind their dimensions. When looking to the ASSETS panel, where I can easily find all the images I use in the document I can learn about their size for example while their dimensions (even there is a special column for it) displays only with 2 minus signs (--). So whats going on with the dimensions of those images in DW CS5? I quess the ASSETS panel should displays them, should I configure DW in order to have them displayed? And when to turn it on? Or is it some bug or so...?
Thanks for help in advance. I am looking for solution some time and can not find a way to work it out:)

There's no bug, and nothing to turn on. Having said that, I have found CS5 to be very slow in populating the Assets panel with image dimensions. Dreamweaver needs to inspect the images to get the details. Depending on how many images you have got, and what other operations are being conducted by the computer at the same time, it's not instantaneous. Try clicking the Refresh icon in the Assets panel.

  • FW CS5 Tool Panels Not Showing

    Hi,
When I load Adobe Fireworks CS5 it starts error-free and I can load and work on documents no problem.  When I tab across to the "Align" panel or the "Color Palette" or try to use the "Auto Vector Mask" function, it comes up with a blank panel.
If I right click on the panel it says "Movie not loaded..."
Does Fireworks use Flash movie based tool panels?  It seems like the software has lost the locations of these panels or perhaps they've been deleted somehow...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    -Steve.

Yes I've uninstalled the debugger, and Fireworks individually, and I've uninstalled the full Adobe CS5 Suite - then re-installed it all and I till have the same problem...
Surely i'm not the only one experiencing this issue...
On another note, a friend (with the same spec work pc) installed the flash debugger and his Fireworks install is fine.
I'm using Windows XP in case you were wondering.

Tried both of those, that's why I came here.  That wasn't very helpful.

  • CS5 properties panel - poor performance

    Hello,
I have recently started to experience an issue in Fireworks CS5 where the properties panel is very slow to update.
Once I have selected an object, I can select other objects of the same time with no delay. For example, from no selection, if I select a peice of text there is a 2-3 second delay while the properties panel updates to show the font type, size, leading, etc. Now if I select other text, the properties update accordingly, with no delay.
If I change the selection to a bitmap, there is another 1-2 second delay while the properties panel updates again.
All other panels and functions seem to be working correctly with no delay. Can anyone help with this issue?
    Thanks.

Thanks folks... I figured it out. The answer was in the OPTIONS side menu of the EXPORT menu.

  • Bridge CS5 Export Panel Displays Nothing

I have installed the updated for Bridge CS5 to version 4.0.2 and the export panel does not display anything.  I can select a group of images and right click, choose export to hard drive, but nothing happens.  Then when I exit Bridge I get a warning message telling me that Bridge will clear out all queued files from the export panel.
I have the Bridge Export Panel working fine on my laptop, but my main machine is not working.  Does the Export Panel require internet access?  That is the only difference I can see between the two.  I would think that I would at least see the option to export to my hard drive . I wonder if Bridge needs some services to use the Export Panel that I have turned off since I am not online?
Any help would be much appreciated.

The programs installed on the two machines do vary a bit.  I don't have antivirus on my main machine since it is not online.  At one point, I disabled a few Windows Network Services so they don't use system resources.  I wonder if the Export Panel requires some Windows Service that I have disabled?  I could not update Bridge to 4.02 until I turned on the Windows Service titled "Workstation".
I would really like to get the panel to work.  I like being able to specify images size by just the long edge...works great for a mix of landscape and portrait orientated pictures....I wish Photoshop could batch process resizing images based on one dimension.
Thank you for your input Curt.  I appreciate it.

  • CS5 Tool Panel Stops Working

I need some serious assistance getting CS5 working.
When I first load an image (file) in to Photoshop I can use "select" or "Crop" or "Healing Brush" normally. But, after cropping, or selecting or healing a defect Those tools no longer work.
    I have reset the tools.
I have to save the modified image and shutdown Photoshop. Reopen the program load the saved image and again the "select" or "crop" or "healing" tools again until I use them again. Then they stop working.
This never happened with I used CS2. Can you please help me resolve.
Did note that this affects all tools in tool panel. Also, and this is first I noted it, if I minimize PhotoShop after the tools "freeze" and leave is minimized for several minutes, the tools return to normal function with I try use Photoshop again.
    System: Samsung Series 7 Laptop - 700Z5A-S06
    Processor: Intel i7
    Ram: 8 GB
    Video: AMD Radeon HD 6490M
OS: Windows 1 Service Pack 1
    Really appreciate your assistance

Something else occurred to me...  Have you ever had a different brand card on your system?  Seems unlikely, since it's a Win 8 setup, but if so sometimes remnants of older drivers get left behind and can mess things up for the newer card.  I have heard of (though never personally used) a product called DriverSweeper.  Also both ATI and nVidia I believe have removal tools available if you do a bit of web searching.
I hope you find a solution, but don't overlook the possibility of getting a newer video card to solve the issue.  I moved up from a very nice ATI Radeon HD 5670 to a 7850 about a year and a half ago, and while I didn't think there'd be much difference, the newer card just does everything so much more smoothly that I'm glad I made the switch.  Technology in GPUs really has been changing over the past few years, and they're not that expensive.
    Best of luck.

  • Cs5 actions panel ... single-click it to expand/contract it

    hello;
I just got cs5 and my actions panel ( as well as all others I think ) require a double-click to expand/contract the panel ... I would prefer a simple single-click ... can I change this behavior somehow??
    thanks.
    Shannon

I meant there is only solution to contract/expand using the double click. You not able to tackle this to a single click. No feature is there for this.
Instead use f9 to toggle the visibility

  • CS5 Content Panel

Have just changed from Photoshop Elements on a pc to CS5 on a mac can anyone please tell me where I can find the contents panel containing, backgrounds, frames, graphics and shapes etc, its in window on my elements I just don't see it in CS5,

    Say what?
I don’t use PS Elements, so I’m unfamiliar with the Panel, but with regard to frames it has come up before that people making the switch seem to miss those – Photoshop does simply not have frames like that.
One can (easily or not may be disputed) create frames of one’s own or get them from stock-sites.
As for backgrounds you might possibly use Pattern Layers, shapes are available under the Custom Shape Tool, …
