CS5 missing Word endnotes

In CS5 when importing Word files, the endnote indicators are present but the endnotes are missing. Never had this problem in previous versions. Nothing in discussions?

I’ve tried every which way I could to include the _wordsub.llb without success. If I copy the individual vi's to the folder that holds my application, it does no good. They still go missing when I build the application. I can't copy the _wordsub.llb into my library because both are llb. If I copy the individual vi's that are located within _wordsub.llb the ones is question still go missing upon the build.
Maybe I’m doing something wrong in the beginning that is carrying over to the build.
As an example, I have one application in library form that has about 100 vi’s included. It is saved as a library. If I make one change and save with a new name as a new library it loses the previous mentioned word sub vi’s (not all, just about 5-6 specific ones). I open the library manager and find the missing sub vi;s in the “_wordsub.llb” and copy them from the vi.lib\addons\_office location into my library application. From there everything works until I try to build an application from the new named application, I re-lose all the previous word sub vi’s again.
I have tried various combinations of save with options, but no matter how well it works as my library application, as soon as I build the application I lose the subvi’s. Maybe I am doing a fundamental error when I start with my llb that I am trying to build as an application.

Missing words creating PDF with Acrobat 7 (newly installed InDesign CS5)

Since a few days I have some curiosity creating PDF files!
Randomly the PDF output is missing whole words in the document but having spares in the right tracking for them in the document.
It occurs that the missing words are subject to another font however not all words in this font are missing in the document.
Also my printer tell's me if he's going to print the PDF (in this case a serial letter with pre-stamped addresses) his computer is breaking down completely and also printing hieroglyphs.
This document was printed from MS Word 2003 with "Adobe PDF" as printer.
I also use FreePDFXP, though the same error comes up.
In addition I tried several settings for the PDF with no effect in the outcome.
I am still working with Acrobat 7 (from CS2 suite) under WinXP Professional SP3 and hadn't any problems before installing my InDesign CS5 upgrade a few days ago.
I only can assume that the problem is InDesign CS5 but cannot prove it.
Anyone an idea on how to solve the problem?!
I am really annoyed about this since for the pre-stamped letters I already paid money to the mail service and the need to be in the mail today - otherwise I am loosing several 100 Euros to the paper-bin).

However I checked all the settings in the joboptions. All fonts are to be embedded (100%) and I also actively selected the fonts to be transferred.
I am using TheSans from LucasFonts as Open Type.
For my document I have SemiLight as standard style and Bold for accentuation.
While the bold style will be printed in "bold only" lines, it is not printed in lines/paragraphs where also the SemiLight style is used.
When I change color of the words in bold, the effect inverts and only the bold style words are displayed but not the SemiLight text!
I have a second laptop with the same system and software configuration (Win XP Professional SP3; Acrobat 7), where the same document runs smoothly.
That's why I assume, that it must be the Indesign CS5 upgrade causing trouble (it's the only new addition to the first laptop).
Unfortunately Adobe has no answer here also.
The only solution would be to adopt my documents for this effect and follow the logic of the machine instead of my mind...

Typing lag resulting in missing words

[Problem summary]
We are having issues with the response speed of FrameMaker when we type.
We encountered different cases but I'm submitting this one because it is easy to recreate.
[Setup]
-Adobe FrameMaker 8.0p277
-Windows XP SP3 (with all required updates)
-Problem was successfully recreated on Windows Vista and many other PCs
-Text is in french and english
-We tried other keyboards
-Local and network file access has been tested
[Steps to recreate]
-Open the FrameMaker document "LoiCieQcCorpsP-II.FM"
-Goto page A-144. (you may refer to the file "screencap1.jpg")
-Goto the second grayed box containing text: "NON EN VIGUEUR 191.1 [«actionnaire»] Dans les articles 191.2 à 191.12, le mot «actionnaire» signifie la personne habile à voter à lassemblée annuelle et qui:"
-Highlight "191" of the left side box, and quickly retype the value "191" using the num pad. You will notice a "lag" effect and only "19" will successfully appear. (you may refer to the file "screencap2.jpg")

Creating a PDF from Word, endnote links jump to wrong page

I have a Word file with a large number of endnotes. In Acrobat 9.5.5 the endnote links jumped to the correct page. In Acrobat XI, which I just upgraded to, all endnotes jump to the wrong page. Somehow when converting the Word to PDF the calculation of what page to jump to is calculated incorrectly. Is this a known problem? I see other discussions on problems with endnotes but they are for different problems. How can I resolve this. I don't want to have to revert to Acrobat 9, but it worked.

Well I tried that. I set the printer driver to Adobe PDF. I then selected all text and hit F9 to refresh all links and saved the file and then went to the Acrobat tab to create the PDF version. Using the application and importing the file to create a PDF causes the same result. I can now see a pattern of what is happening. This has a large number of endnotes, 525. There are probably 30+ endnotes links per page. I noticed that all the endnotes links for the first page that has the links all point to the second page of endnotes in the endnote section (strange that it starts with the second page and not the first), then all the endnote links of the next page point to the third page of endnotes and it continues that way until the end.
Another way to describe this is that the first page of endnote links should point to endnote pages 1 through 4 but they all point to page 2.
I checked and all the links in the Work doc are linking correctly.
I wonder if version XI has been rewritten since version 9 and my case is too extreme for this version and it chokes. I'm trying to rebuild part of the file from scratch and see if the problem goes away since there is a lot of history to this file and it started at least at Word 2007. I'm using Word 2013 now and have converted the format to the 2013 level.
I've sent in a bug report but have not heard anything and talked to customer service over chat but they don't seem to care enough to pass this to development even though it's easily reproducible.

DW CS5 Missing Related Files Problem

Hoping somebody may be able to help me with a missing related files problem in CS5. I've tried Adobe phone support but they couldn't solve the problem.
*Some* of my sites (but not all) are not showing all the files related to that page. My pages are typically in .asp vb server model and contain .asp virtual includes (header, nav etc) plus .js and .css linked files
However DW is only showing the .asp includes as related files and not css or js ones. In design view the CSS is displaying correctly, and all styles appear in the CSS inspector but not showing as a related file in the bar. In CS4 it works fine.
I've tried deleting the site and recreating it, copying the files to a new folder and setting up a fresh site, creating a new folder and downloading all files from the remote server but no joy. I've also tried refreshing related files. if I click on the filter in the bar it only shows the asp includes and nothing else.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated, this is a great feature when it works

UPDATE:
Managed to solve this problem, this is a new issue to DW CS5, previous versions do not seem to exhibit this problem
It occurs when you use site root rather than document relative paths for js/css etc files AND don't have the remote site url (web url) specified in the site setup | local info dialog, or do not have it fully qualified with http://
ie. ../js/file.js works fine without a remote web url but /js/file.js does not show the related file in the bar unless a remote url is defined.
Hope that helps anyone else that encounters the same issue!

Preview's PDF text select ignores columns and misses word spaces

I have a number of scanned pdf newspaper articles that I was attempting to copy the text from. Preview appears to register the existence of columns, as there is a pale blue background between the columns.
However when I use the text select tool, it completely ignores the column - and just selects across all columns. And when I paste the text into my text editor, it's missing all the spaces between the words, and the font size is always huge.
Conversely, Adobe reader in XP has no problem selecting by column, and the pasted text is also an exact replication of the original content. I don't know why Preview performs so badly in this regard? Anyone else experience any issues with pdf text select?

Yes, and not just recently.
There is a reason Preview is named, well, preview. It is not an authoring environment and PDFs are not meant to serve in that context either...unless maybe you understand all of inherent the font traps, tricks & tips and how to tune your scanning/OCR software to keep rework to a minimum.
Scanning PDFs is always tricky, and without the occasional heavy metal to bring to the task, it just seems to be that more problematic.
Keep trying, but I'd really suggest to look to other tools at this time.

Missing words and lines in PDF

Platform/tools:
Windows XP Pro SP 2 or later
FrameMaker 7.2
Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional (part of CS3)
Adobe PDF print driver setting: High Quality Print, black and white (rather than color)
When I create a PDF from FrameMaker, my process is to print to a PS file, then distill separately to create the PDF. This all used to work fine, but recently, I have the following consistent problem:
Words and whole lines are missing. It seems as though they are near where I use an italic character format (which is an actual format I've created in FrameMaker, not the kind applied with Ctrl-i). However, that same character format never was a problem before, nor did I have missing text.
If I take the same files over to my older computer, with FrameMaker 7.1 and Acrobat 7, and print to a PS file and then distill, the PDF file is perfectly fine.
Perhaps somehow the Adobe PDF driver (and possibly other printer drivers) got corrupted? If so, how can I fix that? I dread thinking that I will have to uninstall and reinstall CS3, since, for some reason, the process of uninstalling takes many hours.
Or, is there another thing that causes this kind of problem?
Any help would be so appreciated!

CS5 Missing text descriptions using insertion pointer

Only when using CS5.
When I move the inserton pointer (hand with finger extended) to any tool or icon the yellow rectangular text box appears but it is either empty or contains the garbled first portion of the tool/icon name. When text does appear it will only be the first word or two (like icon title), larger font then normal Windows size, at a 45 degree angle and bold appearing.
The problem just occured this morning. I recently installed both CS5 and Lightroom 3. I am in the process of setting up workspaces and use two monitors. The images are always on the primary monitor and for CS5/Bridge the tools and other panels are on the secondary monitor. I have restarted etc, looked for a preference change and tried several differtent applications including LR3. In all other applications the text description displays accurately.
To my recollection I did not change any Preferences except color space and 'Efficency' as opposed to image size. I wonder if something did not carry over during the process of setting up the workspaces for each monitor. I had Bridge open, worked with Camer Raw 6.3 then saved an image as Tif. I noticed the problem when I opened the Tif version in CS5.
It seems the problem resides in CS5 since neither Bridge, LR3 nor 'native' Windows are affected.

Cleartype problem: missing words

Hello,
I noticed some words are missing from the scanned (clearscan) material.
It looks like:
"When they returned everything was as it was yestarday"...
should be:
"When they returned home everything was left as it was yestarday"...
Just blank spots. In the original there are clearly visible letters and words. The original was scanned in 600dpi and the quality of scan is superb.
When I select text it is there, I mean I can select and copy these "empty" spaces as if the text is there.
Any clue to what could I do? It's a major issue for me. I bought Acrobat just for that and now it is unreliable...

For what it's worth, the Mac version has also done this for a long time, and I'm quite surprised that there isn't more about it on the net. ClearScan is quite unreliable. It works great when it works, but everything has to be verified, and when it doesn't work, it's kind of a challenge to get an OCR that does.

As I mention in that post, you can find places where ClearScan has "removed" this text by Examining the document and looking for hidden text. The "removed" stuff will generally be way off the page to the right.
The last post in this thread mentioned that an update (Windows version I assume) fixed it, but the Mac version I'm using (9.3.1 Pro) still does it. Is there an actual fix on the horizon?
More importantly, is there any way at all to "repair" broken files? It might be that scanning the file for objects that are off to the right of the page and shifting them left so they are back on the page would work. I don't know how reliable the horizontal coordinate is (is it off by some systematic amount?), but I would love to be able to at least not re-OCR everything (much less try to validate every document I OCR'ed before I realized that this bug existed), and in some cases I even tossed the original and certainly the pre-OCR'ed scan file, so redoing them is not even an option.

Missing words in dictionary

The dictionary shows "US", but yet "first", "floor" and "confidential" are missing from the diccionary when trying to check spelling.
Since when those words were removed from US dicctionaries?

No, ligatures and stuff like that were one of the things I checked. Regular Times font is used, BUT…
The original text seemed to be scanned and wrongly converted to ligatures or exported from a text file that did use ligature'd font.
I guess it was exported, since the line breaks are also lost so there are MANY joined words (missing space)

Word endnotes renumbering in CS4 problem

I'm using Indesign CS4, and importing a Word file which has Endnotes set to restart numbering at end of each section. But when I import the numbering does not restart. So, rather than having Chapter 1, notes 1-10; Chapter 2, notes 1-5, etc. The notes are numbering 1 through 126.
I've searched online for a couple hours and can't find a fix. I've resaved the Word file as a .docx. I've exported the Indesign file as an .inx and then tried reimporting.
I'm a book typesetter and I don't usually have this problem. Any ideas?

InDesign does not support endnotes (and by extension, endnote renumbering). It imports endnotes as plain text.
That said, it seems to me it's an error that ID does not take the original numbering into account, even though it is converted to text later on. I think your best bet is on converting the endnotes to plain text in the original Word document.
Alternatively, you could convert the "notes" to 'semi-endnotes', using cross references. Bob Bringhurst explains it all in his blog: http://blogs.adobe.com/indesigndocs/2009/03/endnotes_in_indesign_cs4.html -- nearing the bottom he points out a script to automate part of it.
[Post-Edit thought] That assumes, by the way, you can restart the cross reference numbering at will. I haven't checked these out enough to tell top-of-head.

Trial version CS5--missing stuff?

I am trying out Illustrator CS5. Having watched one of the tutorials, I decided to try the "bristle brush". Unless I am missing something, it is missing from all menus. Are other features missing in the trial version? Before I shell out the $$$ to upgrade, I would like to know if the paid-for version has this as well as any other items that might be missing that I haven't noticed yet. According to Adobe, this is "a fully functional trial version".

I doubt it's missing. You probably just aren't looking in the right place. It's not a menu item. But, hey... way to cast an accusatory finger for no reason.
It's a brush, look in the Brushes panel. Or click the "New Brush" icon at the bottom of the Brushes Panel and select Bristle Brush.

CS5 missing file error reinstall doesn't work

I keep getting the below error ever though I have reinstalled. CS5 seems to be working ok anyway.
What file(s) are missing
"One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing. Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop."

What previous versions of Photoshop do you have on your system?
What OS version are you running?
I wonder if there is a permissions issue which is blocking some files from being installed correctly. There are a few posts already on permissions issues that would be worthwhile checking out for possible solutions.

Cs5 missing plugin sharedcontent.rpln

I'm our office's IT dept and I'm having an issue with one user's InDesign CS5. She is unable to open this file and gets the following message:

Everything I find points to it being created or at least saved from CS5.5 or later, but she insists that is not the case. She created it herself and is the only one that has access to it, or even would ever open it. I've checked and others do have access to that folder, but only a few users and they do not have CS5 or any version of the Adobe Suite for that matter. I don't really care too much about the cause though it would be nice to know, but the main thing is we are trying to get this converted back to something she can open. I've installed a trial version of InDesign CC and I'm met with my own list of dependencies and fonts that I'm missing on my own computer. It's just a mess plain and simple.
What can I do to get this resolved for her?

You don't need to worry about fonts and messes when you open it on your own computer.
Open the InDesign file
Use File>Save or Export and choose IDML
The user will be able to open that on their computer, and all fonts, images etc. should relink back just fine.
They can then save it for themselves as an InDesign file as it opens as Untitled.

Adobe Illustrator CS5 Missing tools... Live bucket tool

Im missing the live paint bucket tool in illustrator CS5, PLEASE HELP! Look at the image below!

Next time you don't have to go to your Keyboard Shortcuts to find out where the different tools are. Some tools are hidden beneath others. Where you see a small arrow like thing (called a tear-away icon) at the bottom-right of a tool, it means there are other tools lying beneath it. Press & hold on a tool having a tear-away icon to reveal other tools. Eg.,
