CS5 no Epson 'Printer Settings'

Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Epson 3880 Printer version 8.64 incompatability issues -
can't print with printer driver, can't get 'Printer Settings'.

And have you contacted Epson about the problems with their driver?
Have you checked for updated drivers that might solve the driver problem?
And please make sure that you installed all the Photoshop updates.

Color management help needed for adobe CS5 and Epson printer 1400-Prints coming out too dark with reddish cast and loss of detail
    System: Windows 7
    Adobe CS5
    Printer: Epson Stylus Photo 1400
Paper: Inkjet matte presentation paper with slight luster
Installed latest patch for Adobe CS5
    Epson driver up to date
After reading solutions online and trying them for my settings for 2 days I am still unable to print what I am seeing on my screen in Adobe CS5. I calibrated my monitor, but am not sure once calibration is saved if I somehow use this setting in Photoshop’s color management.
The files I am printing are photographs of dogs with lots of detail  I digitally painted with my Wacom tablet in Photoshop CS5 and then printed with Epson Stylus 1400 on inkjet paper 20lb with slight luster.
My Printed images lose a lot of the detail & come out way to dark with a reddish cast and loss of detail when I used these settings in the printing window:
Color Handling: Photoshop manages color, Color management -ICM, OFF no color adjustment.
When I change to these settings in printer window: Color Handling:  Printer manages color.  Color management- Color Controls, 1.8 Gamma and choose Epson Standard it prints lighter, but with reddish cast and very little detail and this is the best setting I have used so far.
Based on what I have read on line, I think the issue is mainly to do with what controls are set in the Photoshop Color Settings window and the Epson Printer preferences. I have screen images attached of these windows and would appreciate knowing what you recommend I enter for each choice.
Also I am confused as to what ICM color management system to use with this printer and CS5:
What is the best ICM to use with PS CS5 & the Epson 1400 printer? Should I use the same ICM for both?
Do I embed the ICM I choose into the new files I create?
Do I view all files in the CS5 workspace in this default ICM?
Do I set my monitor setting to the same ICM?
If new file opens in CS5 workspace and it has a different embedded profile than my workspace, do I convert it?
Do I set my printer, Monitor and PS CS5 color settings to the same ICM?
Is using the same ICM for all devices what is called a consistent workflow?
I appreciate any and all advice that can be sent my way on this complicated issue. Thank you in advance for your time and kind help.

It may be possible to figure out by watching a Dr.Brown video on the subject of color printing. Adobe tv
    I hope this may help...............

  • Epson Printer Settings

I am hoping someone can help with a problem I am having changing the Epson printer settings in PSE 10.  I am using ColorLife paper with my Epson Stylus Photo R280 printer.  Since the printer driver does not support ColorLife paper, I need to adjust the printer driver to "Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy", Best Photo, and color management (i.e., set Color Controls for Magenta to -12, and Cyan/Yellow to -7).  However, every time I make that adjustment and close out of the printer settings in PSE 10 and then go back in, the Color Controls are set to ICM, with the box for "Off (No Color Adjustment)" checked.
I've tried making the changes in the printer driver outside of PSE 10 as well as under the advanced settings in PSE 10.  I also reinstalled the most up-to-date printer driver and the settings still will not take.  Without the ability to change the color controls, the output on ColorLife paper has a greenish tone and the density of some of the dark contrast is way off.
I'm pretty sure the problem is with PSE 10 as I have not had this issue with any other software using the Epson printer driver.  Any ideas on what I can try would be greatly appreciated.

Have you specified to let the printer manage colours?
Also see that warning message about enabling colour management in the printer preferences dialog.
If those are the settings you've tried and they don't "stick", try re-setting your PSE Preferences by holding down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys while launching the Editor and saying "Yes" to deleting the preferences.

  • Lost Epson print settings in CS5. Help

When I initiate a print in CS4, I get the Epson options to choose paper settings, etc. In CS5, the file just starts to print. When I click on the button that says Print Settings, nothing happens. I have both CS4 and CS5 still on my computer so I am working in 5 and then printing in 4. Surely there is a fix for this???? Thanks!

In CS5, the "Print Settings" button has replaced "Page Setup". Click on it before clicking print. If you don't, it'll use the previously used settings.
If "nothing happens" when clicking the "Print Settings" button, try switching printers or try switching from "Photoshop Manages Colors" to "Printer Manages Colors" (or vice-versa). If all else fails, relaunch Photoshop while holding the command, control, shift and option keys (one of them may not be needed, but I can never remember which, so I just mash them all) to delete the application preferences.

  • CS5 shared epson printer scaling problem

I'm experiencing a baffling problem with my trusty Epson 2400 and CS5. I have for years used this printer on my wireless network as a shared printer for my various apple devices. I have Macs running CS4 and CS5, but right about the time I added CS5 to the mix, any prints from any of the four Macs that are sent over the network from any Adobe app print at about 50%. It only happens in Adobe apps. The same PDF for instance printed out of Preview prints just fine, but at 50% from Acrobat. Same story with all the other Adobe apps. The problem doesn't occur when printing directly from the station plugged into the printer.
I'm running OSX 10.6.8. I've downloaded the most recent Epson drivers, and the Epson Print Driver's Installer 2.7. I've uninstalled the printer on all stations and re-added. Even trashed the Epson print folders in the Library on all stations and run the Epson installers again.
Anyone have any common experiences or any ideas?
    Many thanks

    Thanks BDAqua -
That's got my iMac speaking to the printer again. Unfortunately it's not giving me all I need to use the R800 as a photo printer, as I'm still not getting all the options I should get in the Driver dialogue. If I pick the driver for the non-shared R800 from the Printers drop-down, I get the following list in the 3rd drop-down (after the Printer and Presets menus):
    Copies & Pages
    Layout
    Scheduler
    Paper Handling
    ColorSync
    Cover Page
    *Print Settings*
    *Color Management*
    Extension Settings
    (App Name*)
    Summary
If, however, I pick the R800 from the Shared Printers list in the Printers drop-down, I get this truncated version
    Copies & Pages
    Layout
    Scheduler
    Paper Handling
    ColorSync
    Cover Page
    (App Name*)
    Summary
*Note: The app name is present in these menus if trying to print from MS Word or Safari, but is not there in the case of Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom. It's of no real interest in this context, though - in the present context it is the absence of the "Print Settings" and "Color Management" options which is critically important.
I guess this is maybe an Epson thing rather than an Apple thing, so maybe I will need to post elsewhere to get to the answer, but I'm really not sure where that might be.
So once again, any suggestions most welcome
    Jim

  • Epson "print settings" lost

    Hi,
I have been using an Epson PM-A850 printer (similar to Stylus X500 in U.S.) with my eMac with no problems but when I try to print from my MacMini through printer sharing I cannot get the full pulldown menu for printing. The "print settings" option is missing so I cannot select to print in black only. I have moved all the print preferences from the eMac to the Mini and also the Epson Print Utility but it makes no difference. Any ideas? I have installed the print driver from the original Epson disc and also tried it from the Epson website but to no avail.

    Great news Cunnla, thanks!
I think it the Drivers can't request/transfer that info via Printer Sharing. Perhaps a Cups Driver?

  • Scripting Print Dialog and Epson Print Dialog - Consultant Required

I have a project I would like to pay a Scripting  Consultant to develop.
The script should run on Photoshop CS 3 , Mac OS Leopard 10.5.6,
I would like the script to be preferrably in Applescript to link with the Mac OS, but it can be Javascript
    Functionality
    1. The script should  script the settings within the Photoshop print dialog box such as the colour profile
    and colour management options
    2. I would also like the script to control the Epson Print Settings in the Epson print dialog
boxes such as the Page Size/Set Up and Printer settings such as paper type=  Epson Premium Glossy.
    3. Finally I would like  the script to be triggered via a button/palette which floats in Photoshop, so immediately we want to print
a design to a particular Epson printer (we have 4 different Epson printers ) we can click that button and it will
send the print to that printer with the correct profile, media settings, page set up etc
    Notes
I have been told that "Configurator" made be the best application to create these printer buttons.
I have also been told that it may be possible to script the Epson Dialog using information from the Script Listener
As you can tell I am not a scripter but have a clear idea of what is required and am happy to pay for the experitise required here.
If you want to email directly please do so -

    Thanks very much

I have been told that "Configurator" made be the best application to create these printer buttons.
    But Configurator is for CS4.
I’m not sure the print-dialog can be Scripted the way You want it; at the company where I work we use a Server-Hotfolder-setup which makes such things easier, as one can simply save separated copies into the respective Folders.

  • How can you access the printer settings in CS5 when using Epson 4900?

How can you access the printer settings when using Epson 4900 with CS5 12.1 x 64

Open the print dialog box, click "print settings".

  • Is CS5 extended compatible with Epson products? I cannot select printer settings.

I've had this problem for a very long time with multiple Epson printers. This problem only applies to Adobe products as other image editing software work fine. The printer settings button does not work in Photoshop so I cannot select paper type or any of the other settings. Adobe blame the problem on Epson and Epson blame the problem on Adobe but the bottom line is, I'm left holding the bag as I paid a lot of money for these products and they don't work together. At least Epson will answer the phone and try to help. Adobe do "NOTHING" for you! I've been on here before with this problem with my last Epson Printer. It was a Stylus Photo 1270 and I was told by some wise guy that "it was a 13 year old printer, what do I expect." Well I have a brand new Epson R 3000 and I have the same problem. I'm using CS5 Extended and have all the latest drivers. Here is a link talking about this problem but it doesn't give any solution that works for me: Print settings option unavailable in Print dialog box | Photoshop CS5. I've already done everything it says here! Typical of Adobe ducking their head in the sand! I can get the print settings on other applications like Preview (no problem) which Epson claim, proves the problem lies with Adobe. An Adobe tech. told me on here (last year) that the problem was with Epson as they have to write the driver software to the application (Photoshop), yet Epson claim that the problem is not in the driver but in the application itsalf. Adobe will just bury their head in the sand and act like nobody is home!
Really sick of this crap, neil.

Thanks for getting back to me Gene. I will give that a try if I continue to have problems, but I have found a workaround solution, or at least discovered a glitch. Like I said, when I click the "Print Settings..." button, it fails to open up a Print Settings window, so I have no way of choosing the paper etc.. However, If I switch it from "Photoshop Manages Colors" to "Printer Manages Colors" and then back again, I can then click the "Print Settings..." button and it will open up a Print Settings window (go figure?). If I were to guess I would put the blame on Adobe's printer interface, not the print drivers from Epson. Like I said, this problem has been haunting me for a while on numerous printers. It's intermittent so sometimes it works alright and I forget about it, then it comes back, but now I may have discovered a workaround.
    Cheers, neil.

  • Can't open print settings with CS5 and Epson R1900

In Photoshop CS5, go to File > Print.  In the Print dialogue window, click on Print Settings... and no response.  The blue Print button in the lower right corner flashes when I click, but nothing else happens.
I've tried running Photoshop in 32-bit mode as well.  Doesn't behave differently.
Running on a Mac Pro 2.26 GHz (most current generation).
    12 GB RAM
    OS 10.6.4
Printer is connected to Airport Extreme USB (most current generation).
Can successfully print with CS4; seems to be a new issue with CS5.
Hope I've included enough info to troubleshoot this problem.
    Thanks for any help!
    Brian,.

I've been trying to trouble shoot this problem since the beginning of September. I wasn't sure if it was a snow leopard issue, a Driver issue, or a CS5 issue. I guess it's CS5. I recently discovered the work around of asking Photoshop to manage the colors, opening the print settings, saving, then returning to printer managing colors but this just doesn't cut it in our graphics lab. We need the settings to be as straight forward as possible for our students.
Also, unrelated sort of, Photoshop remembers the settings from the previous print job. Which again doesn't work well in a lab/public environment. So if jimmy printed 20 copies of a file and set it to print colors as gray; Susie, the next in line, would have the same print settings for her file. This seems to only happen with photoshop. Not Preview, not safari, nor any other program.
We're seriously considering moving back to CS4.
...at least that had contact sheets.

  • EPSON Artisan 1430 Printer Settings won't come up in Photoshop CS5.

I have installed the latest drivers on my MAC tower.  The Printer Settings button is active (blue).  When I click on it, the button goes down and then comes up, the PRINT button blinks once, but the Printer Settings dialog box never comes up.  The printer worked fine with CS2.

When you say "print utility" do you mean a utility provided by Epson? If so, this won't work. See "AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express: Can't use USB printer utilities while printer sharing".

  • Don't have printer settings for Epson CX9400fax since upgrading to SL

I recently upgrade my operating system from Tiger to Snow Leopard (after a HD crash). I have an Epson CX9400fax all-in-one machine and I am able to print, but I no longer have the Printer Settings options as before - where you can change paper, ink, etc. I'm trying to print from Photoshop CS5, if that's relevant at all.
This is what I am looking for:
    tons of options/setting to adjust
And this is what I have now:
    basically just print.
    Here's the driver info:
Is this something on Epson's end that hasn't been updated yet?
I've looked around, both here and online and haven't really got anywhere. If ANYONE can help, I will be very appreciative.
Oh, and I'm a first-timer so please be nice :0)

    Hi,
Welcome to Apple Discussions. I had the same problem with my Epson printer and solved it by going to Apple Support [here|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4169]. You can rearrange your printer settings using CUPS from there. Also, click on the triangle to the right of the Printer Name window to get an expanded menu.
Good luck and a Merry Christmas.

  • Print settings on Photoshop CS5

Has the ability to select print settings (size and type/profiles of paper to be printed) with Photoshop CS5 been elimnated?   Is there some different  way I can select the settings?
I am now unable to find a way to select size and paper type, even though I was able to until very recently. There is no longer a File>Print Settings pull down menu selection.  FYI: I'm using a Mac 10.9.2 and a Epson Sylus Photo 1800 printer. It seems when I go to print with Photo Shop the paper size is stuck on 4 x 6, even though when I hit Print, the window shows that the image is a larger size. There is a Print Settings button, but nothing happens if I click it. (I can print on larger size, like letter, if using any other application. I can get a decent print on 4x6 glossy paper, when that's the set image size.

Gooie dag! Fiery... I have worked with one in the past... My first gut feeling would be to try to reinstall the printer driver on that machine after Photoshop's install, but you indicate having done that already.
As an alternative, did you try to repair Photoshop's installation by running the installer again?
So, you cannot print, or cannot see the settings after the Photoshop print dialogue?

  • CS5 will not print on new Epson 3880, message paper out or paper not loaded correctly

CS5 will not print on new Epson 3880, message paper out or paper not loaded correctly

In the Print dialog box, click Print Settings and verify the Paper Size you chose. This is important because the 3880 has three paper feeds (auto sheet feeder, rear manual feed, front manual feed). And for each major paper size you have to choose not only the size but also the correct feed. For example, if you want US Letter, choose US Letter, notice that this menu expands to five more US Letter paper size options, and choose the specific US Letter paper feed you want.
If there is a mismatch between the paper size + feed combination you picked and the feed where the paper actually is, you can get the error that you're seeing. Because the Epson printer driver will look for the paper in a feed where there isn't any paper.
So if you've added US Letter paper to the automatic paper tray, in Paper Size double-check that you chose the US Letter submenu command that says just US Letter, not one of the other options like US Letter (Manual - Front).
