CS5 on a Mac is automatically changing my capture to wrong format

I am using Premiere Pro CS5 version on an iMac with a Canon XHA1 camera shooting DV on mini dv tapes using firewire. We've had it for a few months now with no problem or issue but about a month ago it will randomly start capturing in a different format. It should come in as 720x480 but occassionaly it will come in at 873x480 so it is all stretched and weirdly wide screen.
When it is capturing it looks no different, no indication that is will capture 873x480 and not 720 until after it is captured and I look at it and it is wrong. I have not changed any settings done nothing different.
Yesterday I started a new project, captured 40 minutes worth of an interview and it was messed up. So I closed the project and opened it back up and captured a minute or two and it was fine, it was 720x480 so I captured the rest of the tape and it came in messed up. Shut down again started back up and evenutally got the whole thing captured properly by breaking it into two capture session and shut the project down and started back up inbetween the two capture sessions.
The next time I get onto the computer and capture something I have no problem. It is happening more often, but not everytime. NO settings have been changed at all on either the camera or premiere, I have presets set up on everything. Please help, what is going on?

There is no 3rd party hardware installed on it and yes I used Premiere's capture facility.
The preset for Premiere project is DV NTSC Widescreen 720x480 and the capture is set up for DV/HDV (only option) NTSC Canon standard camera.
If I had this issue from the start it would be different than it just randomly happening. The footage is recorded the same way and each time I get the 873x480 eventually I get it to capture the proper 720x480 after several tries or shutting down and starting a new project or shutting down and opening the same project. Very strange and annoying
Also is anyone else having an issue with Premiere Crashing, OFTEN. I've had way more crashes with CS5 than I have with CS 3 or CS 2, both of which were on a PC, is it because it is a new version or because it is on a MAC? It just crashed on me and I wasn't even using it, a project was open but no one was using the computer for anything, I just walked back to it and it said it crashed. Very annoying and time waster.

You have not said where you are copying this from but it sounds like what you have is text that is styled by CSS on a web page or ATSUI (Apple's typographic type engine) to appear ALL CAPS.
The actual text is actually U&lc or lowercase.
You can restyle it using:
Menu > Format > Font > Capitalization > All Caps

I would prefer to use an audio interface for playback and the apple tv as a third display. I know I can go back to system preferences and swap my output back manually, but it is getting to be really inconvienient. Thoughts?

Change language in premiere pro CS5.5 for MAC ?

I uploaded CS5.5 for mac, in french.
I managed by reading AE forum to change AE into english but for premier I am lost !

I think Premiere defaults to the language that the operating system is set to. But if you purchased in a specific language, then Premiere might have the necessary files for only that language. If there's a way to specify a different language through the UI, I'm not aware of it.

Also, just to update, my iMac cursor seems to glitch a little bit less now. It seems that at least ONE of my problems may have been caused by sitting my iPhone upon my WACOM tablet. The tablet must receive some sort of disruption from having my phone on it - and removing it seems to remedy a fraction of my mouse-jumping problems - if only for a meanwhile.
The mouse cursor still does jump around on its own occasionally, and the other mouse problems do persist - so this must not be the only culprit for my array of problems.

My Mac Book Pro changes the saved home page each time I open Safari. I am also getting random tabs opening with various "cleaning up" my computer junk.
How do I get rid of this? I tried some of the fixes listed but they don't seem to work or I am doing something wrong.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. Okay, I'm going to try and make as much sense as I possibly can without confusing people. I hope someone can help! So when I downloaded the iOS 7 update one 'major' change I noticed was that my album art in iTunes had automatically changed for me. It was really cool, more up-to-date, and overall enjoyed how it looked. Made it look a lot neater than my own album art I had put on there. Now, when I downloaded the new iOS 8 update I notice that all my album art when back to its original picture which I had put on there. How do I get it back to where it was when I downloaded the iOS 7 Update?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I know this isn't the most "dying for help" question, but I'm curious anyways to why it has changed. Thanks!

Yes phone will automatically backup to icloud when on wifi and phone is charge, but your phone storage was full so it stop backing up.

Can't open DNG files created with Mac CS5 downloader in Mac CS4 Photoshop

I recently installed CS5 on my mac but I kept CS4 installed as well. I notice that I cannot open DNG files created with CS5 in Photoshop CS4. Bridge CS4 shows the files only as icons - no image thumbnails. I am able to open these same files on a Windows version of CS4. Is there some plugin for my mac CS4 that will enable me to access the DNG files created with CS5? Is there a way to use my CS5 downloader when converting my raw files from my camera to DNG files that will make them compatiple with PS and Bridge CS4?

Well, yes...but you'll need to modify your DNG Converter prefs to allow for that. You''ll need a recent (ideally current DNG Converter 6.4.1 or above) and click on the DNG Converter preferences and select the correct DNG Converter options. Check DNG Converter 6.4.1 (the current version) and click on "Change Preferences" to be sure select Camera Raw 5.4 and later then make sure CS4 is updated to ACR 5.7 (which is the last version of ACR for CS4) However, the changes made to ACR 6.x really should be adopted since IQ for ACR 6.4.x is a lot better...

The Ps CS6 public beta version contains the same camera support as found in Ps CS5/5.5 compatible CR 6.6. There will be future updates to CR 7 for Ps CS6 to pick up more camera support. The Nikon D800 NEF files are not supported, yet.
If you like to work with your D800 files in the public beta build now, you'll have to get the DNG Converter 6.7 from here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw6-7/
and convert your files to DNG.

Mac renaming automatically issue

since the yosemite update my Mac Book Pro has a few issues:
1- The mac name is changing automatically, even when I force the name again in the setup after a while the computer is automatically renamed. A number is added at the end of the name (X) and changing almost twice a day
2- as a result the backup on the time capsule backup is impossible: backup destination is full.
I deleted all previous backups, and my time capsule is empty (1.8 TB available)
3- When the name is changing, the files deleted with the old computer name are not cleared by the system, and my disk is almost full.
Currently I deleted 100 GB of files, but still cannot see the space available, and there is nothing any more in the garbage.
Any suggestion?

I cleaned out my mac with compressed air, it was dusty, but the display flickering happened again.
So I followed your advice and installed:

Which showed that my memory module 1B and 2B were 70 - 75'C(160 -167'F). There was no reading for the graphic card so I couldn't tell if that was over heating.
Then I installed:
smc fan controller
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23049/smcfancontrol
and increased the memory_cpu fan speed which lowered the temperature of the ram to 60'C (143'F).
I even changed this ram's placement and put it in different slots.This ram was the same temperature in the new placements.
Also this is the kingston 2gb ram without heatsinks. Ive used it for 1.5 yrs, and this is the first time its giving me these problems.
Do you know how I can check if the graphic card is over heating? or is the problem just with the ram?

Photoshop will no longer automatically change file extension when I do a "save as".

I have just now been to Preferences to make desired settings for needed grid lines. Now Photoshop 9 will no longer automatically change the file extension when I do a "save as". Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about this? I am using a Mac. Thank you.

Are you still facing the issue, can you try deleting preferces and then try it.

AI CS3 Color Palette CMYK: I manually change C, and MYK values automatically change. WHY?

As I was searching the Adobe forums and Google for a resolution to this problem, the problem STOPPED. I am absolutely baffled, because I didn't change anything! Still curious to know what was going on:
I'm creating color swatches to print on a high-quality printer (digital process) so I have about 200 color blocks on a page.
I have been manually entering CMYK builds in different ranges, for example:
32/0/68/0
32/0/70/0
32/0/74/0
So that I can print them out and match the color, like a Pantone swatchbook, only in CMYK full-color/process printing.
After doing this for a few days, all of a sudden I went to change a square of color to a different color. I changed the CYAN value to something else (by typing a number in via my keyboard, rather than the slider), and when I tabbed to the MAGENTA field, all the other values automatically changed to drastically different numbers.
I tried manually changing the MAGENTA, and it would alter the CY&K. I tried manually changing the YELLOW, and it would alter the CM&K. In fact, it would not allow me to type in the exact build I wanted to. Strangely though, I was able to drag the sliders and that didn't alter the other values.
I have no idea why this happened, or how it resolved itself. I had even quit out of Illustrator and re-opened the document and the problem persisted.
Does anyone know about a setting - maybe I indavertently pressed a keyboard command without realizing it?
I'm working in:
Adobe Illustrator CS3, .AI file in CMYK color settings with Proof Colors turned ON (and "Simulate Paper Color" turned ON)
Color Settings: U.S. Web Coated SWOP v.2 (and "Preserve CMYK Numbers" box checked)
MacBook Pro Core i7
Mac OSX 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard, I think)

If you do a variety as you describe it does require some work and diligence.
You should set up two different color settings and if you use the bridge change them globally throughout the suite through the bridge.
Edit>Creative Suites Color Settings
One setting for Web and Print (Press) and the other for Photograhy and Print (Press)
The CMYK should be the same in both either Adobe RGB 1998 or Adobe Pro Photo RGB or Color Match RGB.
Then select the one for the type of project you are working for for print it could be either on since you would work in cmyk.
For web the web setting of course which should be sRGB. You have to make different copies of the files for web then for print as the color has to be adjusted for each.
And use the right one for each as well. You should check the profile each image as well and make them match for each type of document, it is not just good enough to have your settings correct does little good if an embedded profile is a mismatch, you want to do the adjustment your self and do any adjustments required.
In other words color management is work.

AutoCorrect automatically changes words despite being turned off!

We run MS Office 2013 and Outlook in our office on a MacBook Pro (Retina). I am having a consistent problem whereby when I type in any MS Office application it automatically changes I to We.
I have done the following (and spoken to an IT consultant):
Turned off Auto Correct in Edit on Outlook and MS Word.
Tried to ensure there weren't global settings in Preferences set for this > There weren't.
Can someone please help us as this is a very frustrating issue!

I betcha you are a recent convert to Lion!
It's a system wide "preference"; fortunately, there is an option somewhere in your System Preferences (*not* Illustrator's) to switch this totally annoying, bug-infested, problem causing "new improved what-the-xxxx-were-they-thinking" new feature off.
I did that SO fast after installing Lion, I can't even recall where to change it. I NEVER ever want it back ON again, so no loss there.
