CS5 on Windows to CS6 on a Mac - can it be done?

I will switch over to a Mac from a Windows platform. Presently I am using Photoshop CS5, but since I cannot install this on a Mac perhaps I can update to a CS6 and ask for a Mac platform. Would I be able to install this on my new Mac? What about the product key (I have the original one that came with the DVDs). Thanks anyone out there.

Unfortunately, no. the CS programs are platform specific. You have three options. Upgrade to CS6 and request a platform swap, in which case you will give up the Windows serial number. Second, you could buy a second serial number for Mac outright. Third, you can buy the subscription to Photoshop CC, which can be used on both Windows and Macintosh..

Acrobat Standard has not been developed for Mac platform so Mac version is not available. It can only run on windows machine.

Windows 8.1 client to Mac - can't open volumes

I have a mini with a number of drives (two internal, a few more connected via USB3 and Firewire). I have filesharing turned on (+SMB). From any other Mac on my network, I can log in using my admin account and access every drive. However, from a new Acer Windows 8.1 machine, while I can log in using my mini's Admin credentials and can see all the drives, I can only get into my Home folder on the mini. If I double-click on any of the drives (including the drive containing my Home folder), I see a green progress bar growing across the path name (at the top of the window) but the drive never actually opens; I just get the spinning blue circle and the green progress bar goes all the way to the end of the path bar and sits there. Nothing has crashed, however. I can close that window and do anything else.
I've opened Windows Firewall for this Private network in both directions (and even tried turning off the Firewall). I do not have the Firewall turned on in my Mac.
I just tried logging into the Windows machine from my Mac and I could (using cifs://IP_Address and my account info on the Acer).
Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have Norton Antivirus – I don’t know how to turn it off – I don’t really want to delete it because it came with the Windows system
I don’t know what version I was previously using, but the version on my system is Adobe Reader X1.

As i said in the title, i purchased Student Edition of CS5 Design Premium for student and i'd like to upgrade it to the same edition to CS6 for Mac.
is it possible ?
I don't find where i can do that in the adobe's website. I've bought it on it the first time.

There are no upgrades for S&T editions other than going commercial. If you are still a student you simply buy a new Mac license.

I have bought cs5 a couple of years ago for Windows. But soon after i replaced my Windows for a mac. I put in a partition on so i could have both but i am getting fed up of it . So i am wondering if i could convert the cs5 to work on my mac please.

You need to restore the iPod to factory settings in iTunes on the Mac for it to be reformatted to a Mac iPod. Otherwise, the Mac will continue to use the iPod with a Windows fomatted HD, since a Mac can read and write to a FAT32 formatted hard drive.

Yes, your files in CS5 are just .html, .css, .php and .js files, there's nothing that makes them "CS5 versions" of those file types.
You can do it a couple different ways, but the easiest would be to copy the folder being used as the root directory (and all of it's contents) from one machine to the other, then on the new machine, simply set up a new site definition, using that newly copied folder as the local root.
If you want, you can export your site settings (FTP and whatnot) on the old machine...
Go to Site > Manage Site> click the site you want > Export
Copy the resulting .ste file along with the local root folder to the new machine
On the new machine go to Site > Manage Sites > import to bring in the .ste
Relink that new site to the newly copied root folder

I own the Adobe Creative Suite 5 - Design Premium for windows. I now have a mac and run it on a virtual machine. I want to be able to seemlessly move between lightroom 5 and Photoshop. Before the below questions is this possible because my lighroom always shows it greyed out.
So assuming my Mac Lightroom 5 can't read my virtual Photoshop on windows, I want to upgrade/buy CS6 Photoshop. I am fine with having illustrator and InDesign in my virtual world. So questions:
1. Can I get Photoshop CS5 for Mac as my second application of the program?
2. If no, can I upgrade my version of Photoshop 5 to 6 for the cross platform?
3. If no, can I upgrade my suite to mac from windows?
4. If yes, can I then upgrade my version?

Contact Adobe sales or Adobe Customer Service.
You would have to upgrade to CS6 for Mac as a "cross-grade" or platform swap.
They will not allow you to simply swap for CS5 Mac, because CS5 is no longer sold or supported.
You can either upgrade to CS6 Mac by way of platform swap for some $200, or you can join the Cash Cow subscription mode.

CS will not upgrade to CS5. Historically, only CS2-CS4 ever qualified for upgrade to CS5. Those versions are all long superseded and no longer available from Adobe.
Adobe currently only sells CS6 (for outright purchase) and the Cloud (by subscription only). Cloud members have access to both CS6 and CC.
The only way to upgrade to CS6 is from CS5. Adobe no longer sells CS5. Unless you purchase the full version of CS5 from elsewhere (I don't see any point in that in this case) you would not be able to upgrade to CS6. You'd have to buy the full version of CS6. Or subscribe to one of the Cloud plans. PS+LR is an excellent deal if you use those products.
