CS5 open as - camera raw, jpegs, unable to open multiples

Is there a way to open more than one Jpeg at a time with the "open as- camera raw"
option?
thanks

Another option would be to set up Photoshop to open every JPEG through Camera Raw:
Edit - Preferences - Camera Raw..., set it to open JPEGs.
Then drag multiple JPEGs to Photoshop (or open multiples through File - Open).

Cannot open camera RAW images from Sony DSC-RX100M3 camera.  Working on a Mac with Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw 6.7?

    Bruce,
When I made the transition to digital some 8 years ago, I had tremendous help from a number of well documented websites, among which:
    http://www.luminous-landscape.com
I think a lot of stuff there to get you seriously going. Another one is:
    http://www.computer-darkroom.com
I sold all my film based stuff, except a Nikon F3 and a handful of lenses and a Paterson developing tank.
The Nikon suspiciously smells like foam mirror damping strips chemically decaying.
I sold my enlarger over the internet. The word "enlarger" caused me to be on SpamCops blacklist for a while.
I'm in this since the seventies, and I think you'll be as amazed as I was at the possibilities and control you have. And no more bags with $300 worth of film that's consumed in one shoot.
Jump in both feet! you won't be sorry. And these forums are the best help you can get.
    Good luck,
    Rob

  • Camera Raw images unable to open in bridge or CS6?!

I am unable to open my raw images from bridge to ps cs6. The error comes up as 'Camera Raw Cannot open this file'.  I have tried downloading the latest camera raw updates and patch installers, but nothing still works. Please help!

We're going to need a bit more information than that.
Are you using ACR 8.8? Press F in Camera Raw to check the version in the title bar.
Which camera make/model produced the raw files?
How did you get the files onto your computer (connection & software)?
Have you tried the camera manufacturer's own software to open the files?

is there something wrong in the cs3 installation ?
i did remember cs3 is able to open raw file (like 5d mark2) in 32bit

The first thing I would suggest is, in Photoshop, go to Help/About Plug-Ins and click on Camera Raw to verify what version is installed. There should only be one version listed, and listed only once. If there are more, then you need to get rid of the extras.
The DNG converter is a program that will create DNG (digital negative) copies of your raw images. It takes all of the raw image data and copies it to a new file format. The raw data is unmodified, and the DNG file is a standardized and open documented file format. But the DNG converter will not list the actual files. You choose the folder that contains your original raw images, and then the converter will put the copies wherever you choose to put them. But if your camera is supposed to be supported by the latest version of Camera Raw, I don't know if converting will solve the problem. It won't hurt anything; your raw files are still intact.
It would be helpful if you could describe your computer; operating system, how much RAM, a little information to allow the experts (of which I am NOT one) to help you isolate and solve this problem.

  • Photoshop CS3 Camera Raw Update: unable to open Nikon D5200 Raw files

I have a Nikon D5200, so I cannot view my raw files (.NEF) files in photoshop CS3 and I downloaded the Camera Raw 4.6 update, and installed it using the manual installation instructions found here: Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows : Camera Raw 4.6 update. After restarting photoshop and attempting to open a .NEF file, I still receive the error "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document. I have also tried previous updates (4.5 and 4.4.1) and they have also not worked. How can I fix this?

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
The D5200 is supported in Camera Raw 7.3 and later. Older versions of Camera Raw cannot read D5200 Raw files.
Raw 7.3 is only compatible with CS6, CC or CC 2014
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
So you'll never be able to open Raw D5200 files in CS3.
Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?
Choices: buy CS6 or join the Cloud.
Free alternative: download the Adobe DNG converter, convert all D5200 Raw files to DNGs then open the DNGs in CS3

  • Adobe Camera Raw - JPEGS - Do Not Auto Refresh

I use Adobe Camera Raw to edit my Jpegs. From my understanding, Jpeg editing in ACR is supposed to be DESTRUCTIVE - I do not see a sidecar XMP file created when I edit JPEGS.
However, the edits I make to JPEGs in ACR do not show up on the actual JPEG file.
As an example here are the steps I take.
    1) Right click on a JPEG and say "Open in Camera Raw"
    2) Desaturate the image so that it is totally black and white
    3) Click done - when I do this I notice that the image within the Adobe Bridge Browser is now in Black and White
    4) At this point, I want to verify that the actual image has been converted to Black and White. So I close down Adobe Bridge entirely. Then I navigate to the same directory using Windows Explorer (standard system file browser).
    5) My expectation is to see the same image with my ACR edits (i.e. Black and White). However, the image is still in color.
I have placed 2 screenshots online at
    http://www.trick-photography.com/acr/Screenshot1.JPG
    (Adobe Bridge after ACR edits)
    and
    http://www.trick-photography.com/acr/Screenshot2.JPG (Windows Explorer)
As you can see the image in Adobe Bridge is Black-and-White. However the actual image is not altered. I have tried to refresh thumbnails and images in both Adobe Bridge and Windows Explorer and that does not work.
In order to see my edits, I have to open the image in ACR and save it to a new folder. This takes lots of time, and I do not think this is the right way because JPEG editing is supposed to be DESTRUCTIVE in ACR.

Guess I have a different understanding. When you make an edit in ACR and click Done the original image is not modified, but the edits are retained. There is a round symbol placed in upper right corner that says the image has been modified, but the thumbnail displays the original image. If you open the image the modified version will display in ACR, and you can choose to open as is or modify further. So far this edit has been non-destructive.
However, when you make an edit in ACR and click Save Image the original image is modified and saved with new name and location of your choice. The thumbnail displays the modified image. This has been a destructive edit. I think this is the step you are looking for.

  • In Photoshop CS5 why does Camera Raw 6.7 not open a Crw Raw Image?

I am running Windows XP Pro 32 bit system, with AMD ALthon  2600 processor. When I first installed Photoshop CS5 it would not open at all. After hours on the internet searching for online help from Adobe,L came across a on line chat. They said I needed a update for CS5.I downloaded the update and installed it and Photoshop opened up.Ithought this had solved my problem.Days Later I tried opening some Crw Raw Negatives. They would not open in Bridge or Mini Bridge. So I tried opening the raw image in Photoshop,a box pops up and says photoshop could not complete the task because it was the wrong image type.I have tried to get help in the General discussion forum,so far noyhing has worked. Also I forgot How to get to the online chat site,if anyonehas any ideas or where this site is It would help a lot......Thanks.

There is no such forum.  The Forum Lounge is for social interaction or for meaningless chatter.  The Forum Comments forum is to make comments on how the forums operate or ask questions about that.  Perhaps you mean the Photoshop General Discussion forum or the Photoshop Beginners forum?
In any event, unless you provide full details no one is likely to be able to reply to your questions.

  • Bridge CS4 won't open to Photoshop CS5 out of Camera Raw?

I use Bridge CS4 because I prefer it to bridge CS5 but when I edit images in ACR in bridge cs4 and click 'Open Image' I want it to open automatically in PS CS5 and instead it opens always into PS CS4.  In preferences>file type associations, everything is set to CS5 so I don't know how to direct opening images from ACR to open in photoshop CS5 not CS4.  I've had it working on a different system but I don't remember what I did to get it to work.

Uh huh...and why would you expect CS5 to open the image from Bridge CS4? You haven't stated why you are trying to use Bridge CS4, but as you've found out, that is not an optimal solution....(BTW, troubleshooting 101 dictates that you at least mention what platform and OS you are using).

  • Nikon Camera Raw & JPEG

I have had LR since it's inception - however because of Adobe's resistance to using the JPG in the RAW files and applying the in camera se3ttings - I have not used it. I have since signed up for the Cloud Services and LR is once again on the desktop - I thought I would attempt to try it again, figuring after 5 versions Adobe might get a clue?
So I ask again - all the work I have in adjusting my incamera settings to the "exact" profiles I need - is there a way for LR5 to use the in RAW JPG and in camera settings?
Some have asked int he past why I need these...its actually very simple - as a photo journalist, I shoot and send to my publisher without edits. Yes, I can shoot RAW+JPG, but editors and publishers are asking for raw files now and sometimes I need to make lighting tweaks before sending - so...having the ability to use my profiles (that I have spent years working with) - I vertually have to start all over if I have edits to make?

    csgaraglino wrote:

In which case they will not see what you had dialled in as the in-camera settings unless they also use the manufacturer's converter.
This is a totally bogus "issue": no converters respect manufacturer's in-camera settings apart from the manufacturer's converters, or - maybe - those using the manufacturer's SDK (Photodirector being the only one I know of that uses Canon and Nikon SDKs, and it isn't a great converter - and I don't believe it respects camera settings anyway), so whatever you think you're denying your publisher by Lr not using the camera's settings, you're wrong - they're missing nothing.
What you're demanding isn't possible, because even Lr could read that you had (say) "NR 5", or whatever other in camera setting had an apparent analogue in Lr, the "5" would mean different things to the manufacturer and Adobe; and the algorithm that the setting relates to would be different in the camera/manufacturer's converter, and in Lr.
DJ and Jim are right on the money: you're very wide of the mark in your understanding of how converters work.
is there a way for LR5 to use the in RAW JPG and in camera settings?
No. Not in Lightroom, not in Capture One, not in Photo Ninja, not in ACDSee Pro 6, not in any commercially-available converter unless it comes from the camera maker.
    Fundamental, basic stuff.

  • CS5 and LR4  camera raw upgrade for Nikon D610

I only see the CR upgrade 8.3 for PS6...I have PS 5 and LR 4...does that mean they are not compatable and I must upgrade to both...

If you upgrade Lightroom and install the 5.3RC you could then use your existing Photoshop as the external editor and render a copy with Lightroom adjustments and send that to Photoshop. Or, you could download the DNG converter and use it to create digital negative copies of your raw files. Those could be used with what you already have.

  • Unable to open camera raw 6.0 from Bridge CS5

I just Installed photoshop CS5 and I am unable to view and open my NEF files in Camera Raw from Bridge CS5.  It worked perfectly fine with Bridge CS4 and Camera Raw 5.1.0.30.  Anyone has any suggestion other than using my old Bridge CS4. I have mas OS X 10.6.3 installed on my computer.
    Many Thanks

I have de-installed and re-installed the entire photoshop CS5 and it is still the same... I am at lost and using my old CS4 bridge for now.
You'll need to confirm that the Camera Raw plug-in was correctly installed so that both Photoshop _AND_ Bridge can access it. For Mac the only correct location that is should be installed is: the root level Library (not the user Library). Inside of the Library look at Application Support/ Adobe/Plug-ins/ CS5/ File Formats/ Camera Raw.plugin
If the Camera Raw plug-in isn't there and/or any of these folders are not there then Camera Raw is not properly installed...if Camera Raw is correctly installed then you may need to do several things...first, in the folder you are trying to see raw images, go up under Tools/ Cache/ Purge Cache For Folder. If that doesn't work you may need to trash your Bridge CS5 preferences. To do that, hold down the Command/ Option/ Shift keys while double-clicking the Bridge app icon and choosing Reset Preferences...
If Camera Raw was not properly installed, sorry, can't help you...you may need to contact Customer Service for installing tech support.

  • I can't preview RAW files in Bridge CS5 or open them in Camera Raw

I've been using Photoshop CS5, Bridge and Camera Raw 6.7 with no problems whatsoever.  I recently upgraded the OS on my MacBook Pro to 10.8.5 and can no longer preview RAW files in Bridge, or open them in Camera Raw.
I've downloaded the Adobe DNG converter, but would much prefer to using my existing workflow if possible.
Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for any help!

Adobe doesn't support CS5, an when I spoke to Apple, I was told that this is a known issue with OS 10.8.5 and that they're working on a patch.  In the meantime I'm using Adobe's DNG as a workaround.
Have not heard before of this Known Issue, also find it hard to believe being true. But can't test my self because I only have CS6 and CC installed and always use Photodownloader to convert to DNG upon import. I have just installed the 10.8.5 update and checked in Bridge CC pointing to an attached card reader. no problem in showing the CR2 thumbs, it works as always and as expected.
To my knowledge Bridge CS5 is already 64 bits and I can't think of any valid reason why an OS update would cause this problem so suddenly (but I'm not a technician I have to confess…)
However, I would first try a check and repair permissions from Apple Disk Utility and also try Cocktail (good and cheap 3th party maintenance application for Mac) to clear caches and check permissions.
Also try a new user account just for testing to rule out your current account as the culprit.

  • CS5 won't open RAF files from FinePix HS10 & Camera Raw 6.3- Is there something I'm missing??

    Ok-
I've bought CS5 Extended and then updated it (including the Camera Raw 6.3 update).
I am using a MacBook Pro (and an iMac also).
When I try to open the RAF file I get the message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." Yet the release notes for Camer Raw say that it will open FinePix HS10 files...
So I then decided to try a manual install of Camera Raw- I get the same message.
I have checked with other HS10 users and their PS does open them.
Is there something obvious that I am missing- or is there a problem with the camera raw or the photoshop cs5??
    Hope someone can help!!

I didn't realise that the Camera Raw won't work in 64bit mode. Converting to 32bit enabled the files to be opened.
Actually, that's wrong. Camera Raw 6.3 WILL run as a 64-bit plug-in when hosted by Photoshop CS5 if CS5 is running as a 64-bit app. It'll run as a 32-bit plug-in when hosted by Bridge or Photoshop CS5 set to run as 32-bit.
So, there's something else going on here....
How are you trying to open the raw files? From within Bridge or the Finder? How did you update Camera Raw to version 6.3? From the updater? Is ACR 6.3 in the correct install location? main Library (not the User but root), Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS5/File Formats/Camera Raw.plugin
Can you open raw images from within Bridge? Have you tried to view raw files with Bridge before you updated Camera Raw? Have you trashed the cache foe the folder? In Bridge under Tools/Cache/Purge Cache

  • Not able to open jpeg in camera RAW

I am not able to "open in Camera Raw" jpeg files, menu item has dissapeared

    Jim,
Actually I'd only discovered this feature recently as Bridge was not program of choice - my 7 yr. old system didn't have resources to handle PS and Bridge well simultaneously, having only 512 MB RAM. Was lucky to run Photoshop alone, s_l_o_w_l_y on a P4. This all changed with 4GB RAM and a dual core. What a relief.
Old system dubbed 'Frankenstein' sits networked in pasture in case of need for XP dependent programs or external bkups which no longer run in Vista without wiping data and reformatting. Fortunately won't need them to thanks to networking the two. Only thing not supported by Camera RAW is .bmp which I'll convert. Files from scans years ago of old photos before understanding formats. Live n' learn.
Much of the time I use Lightroom in lieu of Bridge, but there are times it comes in handy for quick access. Now that Lightroom 2 works interactively with Photoshop it's made this less necessary, but still have uses for both.
    John~
You are indeed fortunate Vista is your friend. Must have plenty of RAM to run 64 bit. I on the other hand run 32 and intend to downgrade next fresh install so previous peripheral investments work again. Did not play nicely and Microsoft failed to support their own products, deserving a hall of shame award IMO. Still waiting for MS's next OS, as functional and non functional skip generations with that company.
Close friend also loves Vista, but couldn't help noticing he runs an XP machine on the side like myself.... hehe just in case for specific needs. I'm sure he wouldn't mind my saying we are both happy for you though. ;^D Whatever works. Each person has different needs as always.

  • RAW Images Alter When Saved After Processing in CS5 Camera RAW?

    Hi,
I am currently experiencing a problem in Photoshop CS5, where after processing a CR2 RAW image file in Camera RAW, whether I then decide to open the image straight into CS5, or save as a jpeg or tiff file, the image completely alters from what I was previously seeing in the Camera RAW window?
The saved jpeg/tiff, or image now shown in CS5 is now very tinted, where objects that were perfectly white in the Camera RAW window are now a dirty yellow colour.
I was just wondering if there was any advice any of you could give me as to what the problem might be?
I have made sure that both CS5 and the Camera RAW window are both set to sRGB, but it has had no effect on the problem.
Thank you in advance for any help
