CS5 Panel Developer Guide?
I am ready to upgrade to CS5, but I have a couple custom panels that I cannot do without. The CS4 panels made with Flex will not work at all.
When can we get a panel Developer's Guide for CS5?
The CS5 SDK is not intended to be used for panel development but mostly for plugins and tools.
The Adobe proposed solution for Panel Development is using the new Flash Builder 4 (formerly Flex Builder) and some XMP extensions already upgraded for the CS5 release. The free Flex SDK may also be used for the task but I think is more cumbersome.
I downloaded the CS5 Panel Guide and the others SDKs needed. I will install Flash Builder 4 and in few days (to be on the safe side with testing) I should have a CS5 compatible file info panel for Expression Media.
Thank You to all for the help. I will make the panel available soon, with source code, on Adobe Exchange.

CS5 Panel Developer Sample is broken
Hi,
The PerLayerMetaData sample in the CS5 is broken. The existing .SWF and .JSX work fine, however, if one tries to recompile the. MXML to get the "same" .SWF, the panel does not work properly. Typing in some text in the "Description" text area then clicking the "Apply Changes" button breaks the panel. By that I mean the "Apply Changes" button gets stuck in the down position an the panel no longer updates in any way.
I believe its from an incorrect CSXSLibary-*.swc file that is part of the panel dev sdk download. In another discussion , it was suggested to use the CSXSLibary.swc from the Creative Suite SDK, but that does not fix this particular problem.
I am compiling the sample with Flex Builder 3, under Windows.
Please please Adobe, give us a CSXSLibrary.swc for Photoshop CS5 that works! The sample works great in CS4.There are two. One for using with Flex 3.3 SDK and one for using with Flex 3.4 SDK. Those are the only two SDK's we support as of now.
In your project right click and select Properties.
Click Flex Compiler and make sure you are using Flex 3.3 (or Flex 3.4)
If you get Flex Builder 4 you will need to get the 3.3 (or 3.4) SDK and install manually via the Configure Flex SDKs button.
Click on Flex Build Path and then the Library Path panel.
This will show you the current Flex SDK in use and the swc that you are using.
I would do a File > Refresh or Right click on project and Refresh after any changes you make.

ThanksThat's an odd looking error to see when creating a new project.
Did you create the project with Dolly?
Dolly should have set this up correctly.
Look in your Xcode project.
In the Groups & Files section you should have a file:
????NoStrip.cpp
where the ???? is the short name that you provided in Dolly.
That contains the method DontDeadStrip() that the compiler is looking for.
If it's not in the project, check your source folder and drag the ????NoStrip.cpp
into your project. -
BLOBs Oauth2 in New RESTful svcs developer guide
Hi, All,
In case you are not aware, there is a new RESTful Services Developer Guide -- but it is in the download for the Listener 2.0.2!! Not sure it is posted also on the Apex 4.x documentation. It should be. It has a nice walk-through for creating an "Image Gallery Application" along with the RESTful services required to upload and download images--but it would have been much better if done differently (see comment below). I am needing to adapt this to just download images from an existing BLOB object. It also has a demo walk-through of OAuth2.0, however, I wish they would do a better job of explaining where the 'https://server:port/i/oauthdemo/gallery.html' comes from or is created.
My problem with the documentation is that it is a 'tutorial' but really should be broken down so that the user has a better UNDERSTANDING for the whole process. Why do an application that does a POST and GET at the same time. The tutorial idea is great, but break it down to 2 separate parts so you understand the PUT part for those who are needing to upload images and do a separate part for the GET for those like me who just needed to see how to do a GET with a header parameter ID and render the BLOB image.
The OAuth2.0 example has a similar issue but in this case it is too tied to the example tutorial and there is no explanation of where the "Redirect URI" 'https://server:port/i/oauthdemo/gallery.html' comes from. (maybe I am missing something?)
If anyone has success with these demos and applying them beyond the specific tutorial please share!!
PatThe alter move table with the LOB storeage clause will rebuild the table and the LOB segment storing the LOB column data inor out of line as specified in the command. Rebuilding the table is the only way to move the existing inline data to being out of line.

Status of ADF BC / JSF Version of Developer Guide?
Can anyone provide an update on when this will be available (Developer guide based on ADF BC and JSF vs. Toplink)? I'm EAGERLY awaiting - this will be very helpful.
I was able to download the SRDemo app based on ADF BC / JSF - this is very helpful to see some real code examples. For example, I read topics related to programming View Objects and Application Modules, but viewing the actual code examples for how to call these methods was invaluable. Any other sources for ADF BC / JSF Technology scope code examples greatly appreciated.
ThanksHi,
I think this information is what you can already get from the SRDemoBc application. I remember from an internal training i delivered that the login is performed by a ViewObject that is acting as the root VO for all application VO. In addition, to store global values, a VO is created that doesn't use queries.
Note that I am not really a suppoter of applications that handle the login logic in itself. Its good for demos, but in praxis they should use either JAAS or J2EE authentication to fit into an overall enterprise security strategy.

LCCS Developer Guide not available in PDF format?
When I click on the pdf link I get: You are not permitted to perform this operation.
I click on the LiveCycle Collaboration Service developer guide link on
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplatform/services/collaboration.html
That takes me to http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/display/lccs/LiveCycle+Collaboration+Service.
I click on the PDF Version link there, and it takes me to http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/spaces/exportspace.action?key=lccs,

Oracle Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide??
I posted in the JDeveloper forum, as well as sending email via your feedback link found on the tutorial but I am a little disappointed by this:
The Oracle® Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide has some errors in it.
in Windows, I simply chose, start
-> programs -> Oracle Database Express Edition -> Go To Database Home Page -> click documentation from the link -> and run the Oracle® Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide tutorial.
the problem is there are mistake(s) in the tutorial, for example: section 4-19 is this:
"The complete code for the method should now be as follows:
public boolean authenticateUser(String userid, String password,
HttpSession session) throws SQLException { "
it needs to be this:
public boolean authenticateUser(String jdbcURL, String userid, String password,
HttpSession session) throws SQLException {
Also:
there is no mention that :
the port and SID must also be passed in the
ds.setURL(jdbcUrl) found in the authenticateUser() method, or an exception is thrown. This differs from value of the jdbcUrl string found in the getDBConnection() , which makes it hard to figure out
The tutorial is great even if it doesn't work out of the box, but I am disappointed that errata or completed code for this project is not available, especially when you explicitely point to it via the steps mentioned above.
Thanks,
PatrickThe tutorial seems to be using the old JDeveloper 10.1.2.
If you are aiming to learn JDeveloper then just use the tutorials linked from the JDeveloper home page.

File Upload Example in ADF Development Guide
I tried to upload a file using ADF as described in Development Guide. I have taken a <af:inputFile> component as described.
<af:inputFile label="#{res['srfileupload.uploadlabel']}"
valueChangeListener="#{backing_SRFileUpload.fileUploaded}"
binding="#{backing_SRFileUpload.srInputFile}"

Now, what is the type of that variable "srInputFile" in the backing bean?
Is there any full written code for this ADF Development Guide example? Where from can I download that? All the needed code is on page 617 of the ADF Dev Guide 10.1.3

Edited by: Michael Nicholls on Feb 18, 2009 9:49 AMDude thank-you for your wonder detailed knowldge, I have descovered that lets say xp 1700 in a ultra 2 can only handle at the most 143fsb mult at 12.
Given the settings" irq's are a major",part of directing traffic and power? example:
Sound blaster Live , uses two irq's most common at"Auto" is, irq 10, or 5, and Sound blaster 16 emulation usually takes irq 5,. I have found that the sound card in slot3 works great , but to do this I had to change the Bio's and assign slot 3 irq 7 . and make sure printer port has share irq enabled
Problems that accure with bad traffic are like this. Start a dedicated server. minimize than start your game?":censored: no sound what could be wrong"? Shoot another problem Connection problem?. The computer nerd is getting trouble over the ordeal. ANSWER! IRQ can fix the problem, Study the irq and make changes as you go. "what would it be like with no stop signs,,,that is the same as a irq. with the same knowldge this topic brings IRQ need to be clearly understood.
I can honestly say my system is error free and running like a dream.
xp 2500 barton 333
creative sound 5.1gamers.
512 mb kingston ram 400 mhz
boadband either onboard.
MSI 5700 128 mb ddr
Setting are:
163 fsb
mult of 11
ddr 333
video memory clock down to 450mhz
3d clock to 390mhz
The delta is a smooth running board also I want to mention to the person with crackling sounds, change the irq like I did, that fix the problem and the power is totaly too good to be true. -

Hi Mike,
I hear what you are saying and I believe you. But the error you describedis the known issue related to Internet access
(down to the exact line numbers in the stack trace). Is it possible yourconnection was down last time you attempted
hot-deploy?
If you are sure your Internet connection is up, I would recommend tryinghot-deploy again. If it still does not work,
something very strange is going on. At that point I would recommendtrying the workaround anyway or escalating the issue
to BEA Support.
Now my curiosity is piqued so I hope you'll let me know either way.

Hi Mike,
I would bet that you are working on a machine that doesn't have
Internet
access, correct?
The problem is that the EBCC is trying and failing to access the J2EEapplication descriptor
dtd from Sun's website.
If you can't get Internet access, here is the workaround:
- save the attached file to your harddrive (just save it to c:\)
- edit the application.xml file for your project as follows:
- first copy the entire DOCTYPE declaration and save it somewhere
in
a
separate text file (in case want to revert back to it later)
- edit the DOCTYPE declaration so that it looks like this:
<!DOCTYPE application PUBLIC '-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD J2EEApplication 1.3//EN' 'file:///application_1_3.dtd'>
( notice that the java.sun.com web address is replaced with the URI
to
the file on your harddrive)
- save your changes and hotdeploy will work with or without Internetaccess
Thanks,
Scott Ellis
