CS5 PPro encoder/encore problems

I upgrading to CS5 from CS4 and I was really happy with my purchase until I tried to export a project file tthrough the media encoder.  It worked fine but when it finished PPro was unresponsive and finally come around after flashing back to the desktop a few times.  Next I went into Encore and built a menu like I always do and started the burn.  I got about 95% there when it aborted and said I had a hardware error sense code 40901.  I tried this numerous times to no avail.  I had no problem burning on 4.2.1.
I spend two 8 hour days with Adobe support thinking that there is something wrong with either the media encoder or encore in CS5.  There was no resolution.  Funny thing is that I can burn a DVD image through encore (that will burn on my roxio easy dvd software on the same computer) and oddly I can burn to disc immediately there after.  But I can't export and then set up a DVD burn the way I have done forever without getting a hardward issue.  The good news is that I do have a work around, but I shouldn't have to have one.  Any ideas?  Thanks.  Core I7, 12 gigs ram, ati radeon 4850, DVD/blueray burner, HP m9600t

  • Encore CS5 Blu-ray Track Problems

I've burned my Encore CS5 project to Blu-ray several times now. It chiefly consists of a Main Menu, a Scenes Menu, and a single timeline containing around 41 tracks (only one soundtrack). When I preview the Blu-ray version within Encore, it works perfectly. Not so with the burned version.
When I play the finished Blu-ray disc in each of my two Blu-ray players (completely different brands) and move from track to track, I can't jump from track 28 to 29. In fact, when Chapter 28 finishes playing, it bumps me back to the Main Menu. The only way I can continue playing the disc is to manually go to the Scenes Menu and start playing from chapter 29 (which, of course, won't let me jump back to chapter 28). It's as if Encore has split my single timeline into two different timelines.
Furthermore, when I start playing from a chapter within the Scenes Menu, then press the Menu button on my remote, it takes me back to the Main Menu even though End Action is set to return to the last menu.
I know I haven't done anything wrong because if I burn this exact same project onto a standard DVD, it works exactly the way it's supposed to!
Is this some sort of Encore bug? Or is it a limitation of the Blu-ray standard (which I thought maxed out at 90-something tracks, not 28).
Can anyone offer some insight here? If it's an Encore problem, any suggestions on how to get around it without having to wait for an Encore patch (I'm fully up-to-date on my versions)?
    Thanks!!

As a follow up, I tried knocking down the number of chapters by 1/3 so there would be a total of 28 chapters instead of 41. As it turns out, the disc is still exiting the timeline and returning to the main menu at exactly the same point (which happens to be one second into a particular chapter of the timeline, just shy of 90 minutes into the timeline). It's as if Encore has split my single timeline into two timelines.
If it's of any help understanding what's happening, the entire timeline is 02;05;23;21 long. When Encore creates the Blu-ray disc, playback of the timeline ends at approximately 01;26;43;10. I then have to go to my Scenes menu and pick up where I left off as it's the only way to see the last ~39 minutes of the sequence.
As I mentioned, if I burn this as a standard definition (4.7GB) disc, it plays normally with no breaks. It's only if I burn it to a 25GB single-layer Blu-ray disc that I see the problem (using multiple Blu-ray players).
Thanks in advance for any light that can be shed on this problem.

  • CS4: PPro and Encore crash upon startup!

I have been using CS4 for a long time with no issues, but yesterday PPro and Encore started crashing upon starting up.
The screen for either one will load up, but in PPro the timeline pane will be ghosted and the system will just freeze if I click on anything in the PPro window, including the menu. Encore does the exact same thing as far as crashing if I click anything.
I have not installed any new programs and I shut down as many background tasks as possible, as I have always done.
If I reboot the computer after a crash, I get a popup window telling me that PhotoshopServer.exe has caused an exception, blah blah. I have NEVER had that before this crashing started.
I uninstalled the entire CS4 suite and reinstalled it. The installer kept giving me errors about some components not being installed correctly, so I ran the Adobe Support Advisor and it sent me to a link that instructed me to remove the Color Profiles. I did this and the installer continued with no further issues. I then installed all patches up to 4.2.1 with no issues. BTW, I did shutdown all of my antivirus/antispyware/firerwall programs first and copied any missing color profiles back to the Windows directory, as instructed without overwriting any existing ones from the new install.
I started the new installation for the first time after a reboot and shutting down everything in the background... instant crashes AGAIN!
I'm running out iof ideas and I have no idea what went wrong after using this suite for so long with no issues.
    Here's my computer specs:
    Asus Rampage II Extreme mobo
    Intel Core i7-920 @ 3.0 GHz.
3x1 GBs Kingston HyperX Tri-Channel 1800 MHz. RAM
    2 EVGA e-GeForce 9800 GTX+ 1 GB boards in SLI
2 WD 500GB SATA hard drives in RAID 0 (boot)
2 WD 500GB SATA hard drives in RAID 0 (storage)
PC Power & Cooling 1.2Kw PSU
Windows XP (32-bit) SP3 with all updates current.
Any help would be greatly appreciated -- I'm pulling my hair out here!
    Bill

It's probable that the Canon drivers are to blame rather than Adobe. The change in behavior may be due to another piece of software (driver, automatic update, etc) installed that now results in the Canon drivers loading into a different address space where whatever they were already wrong now has a negative consequence. Could also be related to the Canon drivers not dealing properly with ASLR (address space randomization feature in Windows) but that seems likely.

  • CS4 to CS5 audio video synchronization problem

    Hello,
I have a issue when i am opening CS4 Premiere Projects (Win) with CS5 Premiere (Mac), the problem is that the sound and the video is not in the correct time place.
Everything is not synchronized and even the videos are not appearing like they should be in Premiere CS5.
In CS4 all is perfect but when i open this CS5 they are not.
    Any solution?
    Thanks in advance

What are the specs. of the Assets in this Project?
The ideal is to address the OOS (Out Of Sync) at the beginning, which you are doing. However, if thing fail, then this ARTICLE might be useful for fixing the problem down the line.
    Good luck,

  • Have CS4 use CS5 Media Encoder

I have CS5 Master Collection installed, but because I'm running XP x64 I'm having to continue using Premiere CS4. That's all well and good, but is there a way for me to set preferences so that when I export from Premiere CS4 it uses the CS5 Media Encoder rather than the CS4 one which it currently defaults to?

You're implying that by my saying "Shame" I am criticising Adobe. Absolutely not.
That's not my implication at all. As a matter of fact, I encourage criticizing Adobe for things that don't work as they should--most of my own posts are usually in this vein. However, this is not a case of something not working as it should, which is what I was pointing out: you can't be disappointed (or at least you shouldn't) in something that was never said to work in the first place. That was my point.
Anyway, glad you're considering Windows 7. I think that, after an adjustment period (particularly since it appears you skipped Vista--not a bad idea), you'll find Win7 to be a pretty great advancement for the Windows platform. As an added benefit, you'll get to play with all the toys we get to play with

  • Encore CS5/Media Encoder CS5 freeze when transcoding

I'm trying to encode avi files for DVD. I have tried building my project in Encore & doing "build disc". Note: I am creating a Disc image, not actually burning any disc. It starts by transcoding; it gets through the video pass, and when it gets to the very end of the audio pass, it freezes. I have tried this 4-5 times with the same result. Oddly enough, I also had it work twice. Go figure.
Since I had 3-4 files to transcode for DVDs, I thought I might be able to save time (and try another approach) by using the Adobe Media Encoder. Same deal. It got about 99% done with the first file and FROZE.
    What I've done:
    1. Verified no DLA is running (at least, no Roxio or Nero software)
    2. Verified the PhHlap64.dll is the latest (3.0.90.2 or whatever it's supposed to be)
    3. Installed latest Windows 7 (64bit) and CS5 updates
    4. tried different user accounts (both administrator accounts)
Here is what we do have installed on this machine:
    Firefly
    MediaShout 4.5
    Quicktime 7.6.6
    Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 (mr5)
    Itunes
That's all I can really think of. I just ran the apple updater and see there is a new (7.6.8) verison of quicktime. I'll update that and see if it makes a difference. Any and all help is appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Tom
I had some 96/16 audio from an H4n recorder. AME just sat there. Also had the same problem exporting directly from PPro without using AME. Just sat there, no error, just nothing.
Changed the final sequence samples to 96kHz sampling and problem solved. That's a real bummer, since Adobe definitely pushes the sort of "edit anything" mantra a lot, and having to tailor sequence settings to a recently added audio clip is a step in the wrong direction. Glad to know it CAN be fixed, since these renders need to happen, but need that one patched up.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 - Media Encoder Crash when Exporting to MPEG-2

    System:
    Core i7 920 @ 3.8 Ghz
    Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
    12GB DDR3 1600
    External Sound Card - M-Audio ProFire 610
    OS Drive - 2x300GB WD Raptors - Raid 0
    Project Drives - 3x300 WD Raptor - Raid 0
    Video Card - Geforce GTX 285 1GB
Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and Media Encoder CS5 continually crashes or hangs every time I try to export to MPEG-2.  I can successfully render to every other codec without any issue, but need the MPEG-2 for an Adobe Encore Project.
The project is approximately 38 minutes long and contains AVI and MP4 files, all of which were ripped from DVDs as I'm producing a reel for a producer who provided his DVDs for me to rip and use as content.
    Possible issues:
    1.   Currently have Magic DVD Ripper and DVD Fab installed (codec conflicts?)
    2.   Originally ripped the DVDs at 630x360 (my mistake - hadn't really worked with a DVD ripper before and was the largest avi pre-set) and I'm exporting to MPEG-2 standard 720x480 Widescreen)  (I know I should've just ripped them as the original lossless MPEG-2 files - I'm a tool)
    2.   Blank space in the timline (there are a number of these)
I would like to get some input before I try to export to MPEG-2 again as I blew a capacitor on my old mother board (Gigabyte x58-ud3r) after I had gotten my computer to start rendering a MPEG-2 after about 50 tries to export/launch media encoder set on MPEG-2.  I just installed my new motherboard to replace it.  Clearly MPEG-2 taxes the system more so than any other codec (from what I can tell).  However, I thought the issue with the blank space/no media in the timeline was fixed with CS5.  I saw in a previous post that someone thought that ffdshow was conflicting with AME.  I don't have ffdshow, but I believe that's a ripper program like Magic and DVDFab.

I experienced this at one point.  Searching the WEB I saw suggestions that there was a problem with a recent version of Quicktime.  (I have no idea why the quicktime player would have an impact.)  However, reverting to an earlier version of Quicktime fixed the problem.  Search this board using quicktime as a search phase.  The quicktime web site allows you to download the earlier versions.  I'm not at my editing machine, but I believe that I am at version 7.5.2.

  • Adobe Media Encoder - Encore - H.264 Blu-ray

I just exported a Premiere Pro timeline using the Media Encoder with H.264 Blu-ray format and the 1080i 29.97 HQ preset. Presumably, you would choose this so that you do not have to transcode when you get to Encore. However, when I put my 16GB M4V file in a timeline, it wants to transcode saying it is "Untranscoded". Why? It also says the Blu-ray disc is only 11GB.
Please tell me there is something I can do to prevent from having to re-encode or transcode this file when it is already in a Blu-ray format.

    hello,
"This bug is with only H264 VBR 2 Pass presets and if you change to VBR 1 Pass keeping evverything same, the bug should not be there."
honestly speaking, most everyone agrees that 2 pass is better quality than 1 pass
and if this issue has been happening since cs4 and we just received our first update
to cs5.5.1 for ppro, why does adobe still require us to 'lower' quality settings...
it's almost like adobe doesn't want us exporting a full quality BD...
doesn't adobe have the resources to fix this issue already?
unless there is an acceptable answer, then shouldn't this be unacceptable...?
this is almost like saying, "yeah the full hd presets don't work, but if you use the standard def presets, you should be okay..."
especially if other authoring programs can do 2pass BD discs...
is there an acceptable answer as to why this issue hasn't been fixed?
is there any plans to update encore?
    thanks,
    jeffrey

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS5 not encoding

I'm following lessons from Flash Professional CS5 Classroom in a Book. Chapter 8 is where I met Adobe Media Encoder CS5, but couldn't go any further with the lesson because as soon as I drag the penguin.mov to AME I get the message
    "Adobe Media Encoder Debug Event.
Adobe Media Event has encountered an error

I then click "Continue" and I get the Windows window saying "Windows is checking problem..." I click close to close the Windows window and it also closes AME.
I open AME again and I drag my own Windows Media Files to see if it will work. AME works for awhile and then stops with the exclamation mark inside the yellow triangle under "Status" I click "Status" and I get this log messages:

  • CS4 - Adobe Media Encoder - Encore - H.264 Blu-ray

As many folks are aware, Encore's transcoding can sometimes be less than optimal. I played with the AME settings and with the help of other folks on these and other forums finally determined all the right settings so that Encore would treat my DVD quality videos as native and not attempt to transcode them.
I am now trying my hand at Blu-Ray and am running into similar problems but so far I have not really found any answers that have worked. Based on my research, the following settings should work:
    AME
    Format: H.264 Blu-ray
    _Video_
    TV Standard: NTSC
    Frame Dimensions: 1920x1080
    Frame Rame: 23.976
    Field Order: None (Progressive)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: Widescreen 16:9
    Profile: High
    Level: 4.1
    _Bitrate Settings
    Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 1 Pass
    Target Bitrate: 18
    Max Bitrate: 22
    _Audio_
I have Multiplexing disabled because I am using DD 5.1 encoding and for DVD quality, I learned that Multiplexing is a no-no to prevent Encore from trying to transcode things. I assume the same thing applies to Blu-Ray so I'm not really worried about the Audio.
    Encore
    _Project Settings_
    Authoring Mode: Blu-ray
    _Settings
    Television Standard: NTSC
    Codec: H.265
    Dimensions: 1920x1080
    Frame Rate: 23.976
    Fields: No Fields (Progressive Scan)
    _Automatic Transcoding
    Maximum Audio/Video Bitrate: 25.0 Mbps
    _Audio Transcoding
    Audio Transcoding Scheme: Dolby Digital
I have tried a number of other settings around these (including using 29.97 frame rate to match my source), but after 4 days of trying different things with AME, I am completely stumped. What I am primarily looking for is someone to be kind enough to post their settings, in the level of detail above, that allow them to import an asset into Encore so that it doesn't want to transcode the video.
I know there are other tools out there that can do these things, but I paid my $ for Adobe Mastersuite so that it would do all these things for me. If at all possible, I would really like to stick with just these tools.
I am not sure if it matters, but my source is a Panasonic HDC-TM700 set to record in 1080p30 (I don't use their proprietary 60 frame format). I have successfully downconverted this source with AME to DVD quality. I have also successfully outputted from AME to 1080p that was uploadable to Youtube. Again, I'm not sure that it matters other than I can make useable video from my source. Here are the properties of the video according to Premiere:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 2.6 GB
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Pixel Depth: 32
    Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - 6 channels
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - 6 channels
    Total Duration: 00;22;23;25
Average Data Rate: 2.0 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
My actual clip is about 6min, but my intention would be to use clips of up to an hour in length.
Oh, I'm not sure if it is clear from my above information, but I am not using Adobe Dynamic Link. I'm not sure if that is where my problem lies, but my one attempt to use it did not produce the results I was looking for either.
Thanks in advance for your time and for making it this far into my post
    -Jay

Well, that's a bit of a disappointment. I have to imagine most Adobe users are bald due to Adobe providing settings/output options that it's own software doesn't like. I really don't understand the sense of that.
In any event, I attempted to use:
    Format: H.264 Blu-ray
Preset: HDTV 1080i 29.97 High Quality
And Encore still wants to transcode the video. It also wanted to transcode the audio that the format put out (PCM audio). I tried messing with some of the settings in Field Order, Profile, and Level and no love all around. I also tried one of the 1440 formats and no love there.
Does anyone truly have this working natively or am I just chasing my own tale? It really should not be this hard to get Premiere to output something that Encore will use without difficulty.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 problem

    I having a ***** at Adobe
I do have a lienced copoy  CS4 Design Premium. I down loaded premier  pro CS4 to demo it about 8 months ago and had not used it up to about 1 weeks ago. All that time Adobe Media Encoder CS4 did not work. I came back to the problem last week when I wanted to convert a video to a FLV file, did not work, I went through uninstalling and reinstalling Design Premium: reloaded parts of the the suite still did not work: went to the forums and tried every which way to get resolution nothing worked. This morning I opened up Premier  and  it world not open without serial key I was only a week into the 30 trial period. So I uninstalled premier. Reloaded the Media Encoder and guess what it worked. I am know looking at buying another product. Another thing while using the trial version I could not demo encore CS4.
    ****** off
PS I have now uploaded the FLV to my website. I never had any problem with AME CS4 until I loaded Premier CS4

These directions are specifically for windows 7 x64
It may be hidden since it's a system folder. You can get to it one of two ways.
Either: Hit start button + r to get run, then insert  (C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\) without the () and press enter. *This is assuming that your username is Administrator. If the folder exists it will take you there, even if it is hidden.
Other way: hit start button on keyboard and type in "folder options". Press enter when it shows up in the start menu search. Click on the View tab then select "Show hidden files, folders, or drives" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".  This should enable you to see both the AppData and Roaming folder. You may want to undo these selections otherwise you'll see files you usually don't want to see. (thumbnail caches...)
If neither of these methods work, let me know which folders you see in this directory "C:\Users", Administrator may not the account you're currently running on.

  • PPro cs6 - Audition cs6 - PPro, round trip problem

I'm having trouble completing the round trip. I got my audio tracks from PPro CS6 to Audition CS6 without problems, right by the manual. But I'm having trouble getting that audio work back  into PPro.
I'm working a mid-sized project (one hour class, two cameras, etc. headed for DVD). Got edit lock. Everything is done now except for cleaning up audio. After the audio I can send the whole lot to Encore for DVD making. But first, audio.
Took the entire sequence to Audition  via PPro's  "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..."  path. This worked just fine. It pushed all the audio files to Audition, Audition opened up and gave me a "make an Audition project" dialog box, etc. Nearly 100 files came over to Audition, on the right tracks, in the right order. Very nice. Made my changes. So far so good.
What I've read in the manual says that all I have to do when I'm done is "File...Save" in Audition, then PPro will have and use the changes. Sorta like Dynamic Link, but different. So I did the the project save.
At this point, things deviated a little from the plan. I started up PPro, opened the project, and no sign of the Audition work. Can't find a file anywhere in the project panel that says Audition on it. The files on the timeline are still the dark green of the multi-camera edit, not the lighter green of an Audition file. When I've done this for individual clips, I've gotten back a file with a name like "*Audio Extracted_1.wav" that shows up with the same green as the Audition icon on my desktop.
So I thought, fine. Not as easy as I had hoped. I'll just have to import it manually. But PPro doesn't seem to have any idea how to deal with a *.sesx file, which is the project file from Audition.
Should I be exporting, say, a *.wav file from Audition (how?) and import that into PPro? And if I do, is there a good workflow to re-sync this audio with my video tracks?
I'm confused. Don't know what I did wrong. Don't know what do to fix it. Don't know how to avoid this in the future. So any help gratefully received.

    OK, now I *am* confused.
Just did it again (a different DVD project however), as described in my original post. This time PPro stayed open for me. So I sent all the sequence audio files to Audition via the "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..." comman, then did my editing in Audition, and saved it the Audition project. Go back to PPro, and... nothing. No sign of any file from Audition in the project panel. No sign on the time line. No sign of any Audition file anywhere in PPro that I can find.
What gives? What am I doing wrong?
What I did get was a folder at the same directory level as my PPro project file, a folder in it with the project_name I gave Auditon when it opened from the PPro  "Edit...Edit in Adobe Audition...Sequence..." command, and then two files for every clip in the project (a *.wav and a *.pkf), and finally two more files, a project_name.xml and a project_name.xml.sesx.
I suppose I can export a *.wav file to PPro manually. Worked before. But I'd like to learn the "correct" way, the way Adobe intends it to work.
Darned if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong though. Help???

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 Batch Capture Problems

    Hi,
I'm sorry for the repost, but the older questions I can find on this topic won't allow me to reply and they were never answered (last post several months ago).
I'm having the batch capture problem with Premiere Pro CS5.5. Capture with device control works great when single capturing. When I log clips and attempt to batch capture, though, I get the "capture failed: device not found" error in my capture log. I have checked through the FAQ and the complete premiere manual on batch capturing. I've set my device (still using a Canon XL1) and even checked the video size...it matches that of my project (someone on another forum mentioned that this could be an issue). I have had no luck.
Could anyone tell me if this issue has been resolved, or redirect me to a resolution?
Thanks in advance for any help!!
    Steve

I have encountered this problem if the current tape position is beyond the last recorded point when you start the batch capture or if any "OUT" points are beyond the last recorded position or if the capture spans any unrecorded portions of the tape. I always thought it was my camera but maybe it is a PPro issue.
