CS5 Printing to an Epson 1900 What happened?

It worked fine in CS 4 to the Epson just select Adobe RGB as the profile in the Print dialog then do the same in the Epson Drivers now I cannot do that once I have the color management option selected in the photoshop print dialog this is now grayed out in the Epson drivers. I found it the past that the data is not fully passed along to the Epson drivers and you have to also select it in the Epson drivers regardless of the fact tht you had Photoshop managing things.
This is another instance of very poor testing process on the side of Adobe when they have testers all of who are creating their own profiles for their paper leaving the professional photographer to go through hell to get their first good print using Photoshop.
Perhaps it is about time you get testers who actually make their living taking photography rather than testers who sell custom profiles.
What nonsense this is from day one that I first got an epson printer I was told that this works for Adobe and it should work for me but everything that Adobe does is not based on everyday professional photography conditions it is base on lab condition which is nonsense, in a controlled environment.
I printed my images extremely well with the 1900 until I tried today and cannot do what I have been doing before. Make the improvement but it has to work. You spend entirely too much time improving thins that just break what ever was fixed before.
And to Chris Cox or any other Adobe employee this has been the issue every single release since I first purchased Photoshop 5, not one time has Adobe not left the user to fend for themselves after they have broken their workflow.
It is time to stop and get to work. This really stinks.
BTW I have my worked reproduced world wide and have very consistent results in Magazines and Books and print to Digital CPrints all the time without any issues.
Adobe your testing team stinks they should have been screaming about this nonsense. Now I have to either print from CS 4 or find a work around.
The fact that many users are using other programs to print is testimony of this failure. it is about time you not prove how smart you are and just make a reasonable work flow.
I seldom complain here but this is just too much it would be please=ant to see one time where this was not an issue.

I agree this whole issue is confusing. I have been on the issue (proper printer driver behavior and proper application behavior) using Apple's new print path for a few years now, so I will try to make an attempt to clear up as much confusion as possible.
If drivers and applications are working (written) properly this is how it is supposed to work.
When printer manages color is selected in an application print dialog then all functions of the printer driver are available.
When applications manages color is selected then Color Matching is grayed out defaulted to ColorSync, and the property written print driver defaults to No Color Adjustment (Epson) or No Color Correction (Canon).
See attached examples of both Epson 9600 driver version 8.19 and Canon iPF driver version 2.14.
Epson can and has definitely gotten it right with their latest drivers.
Canon on the other hand uses a special case file (AppColorMatchingInfo.xml) which list the applications that use Apple's new printing path. New application like Photoshop CS5 will need to be added to this file or the driver will default to color management when application manages color is chosen which results in double profiling.
I see nothing that indicates to me that neither Apple or Adobe have problems or bugs in this printflow. Only drivers (and old drivers) that are not written correctly for Apple's new printing path seem to have these problems with double profiling. That being said, do I agree with Apple's approach regarding the new print path? NO. It appear to be an attempt to idiot proof printing using application manages color printing, although it is claimed to be necessary for 64-bit applications. I personally would prefer to use the old print path (like still available in Indesign) where all options are available in the driver regardless of what CM setting I choose in the application print dialog. But it is what it is.

  • CS5 printer issues with Epson R2400

    Upgraded (????) to CS5
    Win7-64, Photoshop CS5 - 64 & 32, Epson R2400 (Epson Easy Photo Print v1.51 Drivers)
CS5 will not print multiple copies. Can change it in printer settings, makes no difference.
CS5 will not allow me to change orientation to landscape. Have to go to printer settings. Will not stick. have to change it everytime I want to print the same file.
CS5 will lose the printer. Have to change the printer then change it back. "because the printer does not exist" is the error message. (Not even a complete sentence!)
    Printer profile will not stick.
These issues did not occur with CS4.

You need the 6.5dAs drivers from http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=54861&infoType=Downloads
The copies issue is a known problem. Sorry about that. But the other problems are not things we saw when testing with those drivers.

  • CS5 print dialog missing Epson 7800 profiles

Is there a simple way to get my Epson printer profiles to load onto CS5. I'm normally quite good at solving these things by myself, but this case has me well stumped. Help anyone?

Again: in CS5, the profiles that the driver says belong to the selected printer will show up at the top of the menu. Any custom profiles you have built for that printer will also be in the menu, in the normal alphabetical list.
If there are no profiles at the top, that is because the driver hasn't identified any profiles as belonging to the chosen printer.
If there are no additional profiles listed, that is because there is a problem with how you installed them on the system.
We haven't seen any problems with this yet.

  • Color printing shift in Epson 3800 & InDesign CS5

    Somebody please help!
I wrote about this once before and have been looking for a thread to help me figure out why I am having so much trouble printing from my Epson 3800, since I upgraded to CS5. The issue is specific to InDesign and Acrobat. I have the identical settings from CS4, but when I print, the colors look faded. I have tried exporting the files to PDF (for high quality print) and then printing from Acrobat and I get the same result.
the two things that are different are the Mac OSX (Snow Leopard, used to be Leopard) and CS5. All other setting are exactly the same.
If I open the pdf in photoshop, this isn't a problem, so what has happened?
I would be so grateful to hear from anybody experiencing this problem.
    Thanks so much!
    sharon

In and of itself, synching settings in bridge won't have an effect on output, and won't affect existing docs unless your policy settings are to convert to the working space or you do it manually (neither of which are necessarily a good idea in all situations). Nor do we have any indication that this is a profile mismatch problem.
Without a lot more information about working profiles, whether they're already synchronized, driver settings, whether transparency is involved, and the patch levels of both ID and OS X I hesitiate to speculate on where the problem might be. There have been a lot of problems with printing from CS5 on OS X 10.6, but most seem to be worked around by exporting to PDF, which seems not to be the case here, so a lot more information would be beneficial.

  • Is CS5 extended compatible with Epson products? I cannot select printer settings.

I've had this problem for a very long time with multiple Epson printers. This problem only applies to Adobe products as other image editing software work fine. The printer settings button does not work in Photoshop so I cannot select paper type or any of the other settings. Adobe blame the problem on Epson and Epson blame the problem on Adobe but the bottom line is, I'm left holding the bag as I paid a lot of money for these products and they don't work together. At least Epson will answer the phone and try to help. Adobe do "NOTHING" for you! I've been on here before with this problem with my last Epson Printer. It was a Stylus Photo 1270 and I was told by some wise guy that "it was a 13 year old printer, what do I expect." Well I have a brand new Epson R 3000 and I have the same problem. I'm using CS5 Extended and have all the latest drivers. Here is a link talking about this problem but it doesn't give any solution that works for me: Print settings option unavailable in Print dialog box | Photoshop CS5. I've already done everything it says here! Typical of Adobe ducking their head in the sand! I can get the print settings on other applications like Preview (no problem) which Epson claim, proves the problem lies with Adobe. An Adobe tech. told me on here (last year) that the problem was with Epson as they have to write the driver software to the application (Photoshop), yet Epson claim that the problem is not in the driver but in the application itsalf. Adobe will just bury their head in the sand and act like nobody is home!
Really sick of this crap, neil.

Thanks for getting back to me Gene. I will give that a try if I continue to have problems, but I have found a workaround solution, or at least discovered a glitch. Like I said, when I click the "Print Settings..." button, it fails to open up a Print Settings window, so I have no way of choosing the paper etc.. However, If I switch it from "Photoshop Manages Colors" to "Printer Manages Colors" and then back again, I can then click the "Print Settings..." button and it will open up a Print Settings window (go figure?). If I were to guess I would put the blame on Adobe's printer interface, not the print drivers from Epson. Like I said, this problem has been haunting me for a while on numerous printers. It's intermittent so sometimes it works alright and I forget about it, then it comes back, but now I may have discovered a workaround.
    Cheers, neil.

  • Can't print on my new Epson 1900 printer

I downloaded and installed the newest print driver but I get a message "/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacO S/rastertoescpII failed" when I try to print in Photoshop or iPhoto. I tried restarting and uninstalling the driver, but it doesn't seem to work.

Do a search here for the error message. There are several posts about this, most recently http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2274171&tstart=0. You don't mention what kind of Epson 1900 you have, but if the the drivers for 10.6 are already installed, you might get it working by just deleting and re-adding the printer. Check http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 to see if the driver for your printer has been updated.
    Hope this helps.

I had Cs2 and Office for Mac 2004 installed on an OS 10.6.3 system. Worked fine. This weekend my computer did an auto update to OS 10.6.8 and now I cannot save or print from any office or CS2 Apps. What happened. Office also freezes and I have to force quit. Any advise. System or Software problem?

Bad timing.  Reapply the security update:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1489
What happened is that version 1.0 of the security update was available for a bit of time this weekend, and that disabled Rosetta.  Version 1.1 brought it back.

  • CS5 will not print on new Epson 3880, message paper out or paper not loaded correctly

CS5 will not print on new Epson 3880, message paper out or paper not loaded correctly

In the Print dialog box, click Print Settings and verify the Paper Size you chose. This is important because the 3880 has three paper feeds (auto sheet feeder, rear manual feed, front manual feed). And for each major paper size you have to choose not only the size but also the correct feed. For example, if you want US Letter, choose US Letter, notice that this menu expands to five more US Letter paper size options, and choose the specific US Letter paper feed you want.
If there is a mismatch between the paper size + feed combination you picked and the feed where the paper actually is, you can get the error that you're seeing. Because the Epson printer driver will look for the paper in a feed where there isn't any paper.
So if you've added US Letter paper to the automatic paper tray, in Paper Size double-check that you chose the US Letter submenu command that says just US Letter, not one of the other options like US Letter (Manual - Front).

  • What Print Resolution for Epson R800?

I wonder what the value for "Print Resolution" in the Printer module should be to print with an Epson R800 on glossy or luster paper at the highest quality settings (Photo RPM).
I would rather not have LR do any re-sampling... but given it asks for a resolution, I am unsure what is the best value to provide.

    Antonio,
LR is limited to 480 dpi, not printer ppi:
"This number of ink drops a printer can put on paper is called the printer resolution dpi. So if a printer has a resolution of 1200 dpi but requires 16 drops of ink to display a color, the actual resolution is much lower. Since ink drops are used in both directions (length and width: 16 drops made up of 4 rows of 4 drops), you could say that the effective resolution would be 1200 divided by 4 (or 300) dpi. Practically this isn't entirely true since modern inkjet printer can spray tiny ink drops that overlap each other. Roughly you can say that the higher the printer dpi, the higher the print quality, but it also depends on how the printer forms the dots on paper."

  • What happen ?why can't i print a pdf any longer ?? very very frustrated uninstalled reinstalled 3 times ??????????

What happened ? Why can I no longer print PDF on my mac pro???????? Uninstalled reinstalled 3 times very very frustrated

I cant print anything now from my computer to my hp printer.  Never had this happen until November or December.  Then it seemed to be OK. now today I cant print one thing.  not from my gmail, or the Matrix portal I use as a realtor.  My office partner is connected to the same printer and his is fine.  Mine prints nothing.  All I get is a print screen that says loading preview... and the .. keep moving and nothing ever shows up.  If I try to to to a PDF (which is the only way we could print anything after some update last fall from the Matrix portal) it just spins ... and nothing happens .  WE use to be able to print without having to save everything to a download and that changed.  now I cant print anything.  I need help fast.... I can't get my work done at all and I'm getting very frustrated.
    I uninstalled the adobe reader and re-installed it and nothing helps.  We have 2 others printers in our office and it wont let me print to them either or allow me to save it as a PDF so I can print it out that way.;
I need HELP!!!  Can't work this way and not sure what happened to cause this problem as things were fine earlier today.

  • I have added photos to a portfolio website I'm building and a lot of them look VERY grainy when you click on them. They are nice clean large files and can print bat high res way over 16" x 20" so whats happened to them in iWeb?

I have added photos to a portfolio website I'm building and a lot of them look VERY grainy when you click on them. They are nice clean large files and can print bat high res way over 16" x 20" so whats happened to them in iWeb?

When you are dealing with websites, image file size is a trade off between quality and download speed. There's not a lot of point to having high quality images if they take too long to download in the browser.
Nowadays we also have to consider the device that the end user is viewing the images on. An image that is optimized for viewing on a large screen is total overkill and unsuitable for those using mobile devices.
Really we should be supplying different versions of media files for different devices using @media rules in the stylesheet but this is rather outside of the scope of iWeb. If you use the built in image optimizer and the iWeb Photo template with slideshow, the application will optimize the images according to the way in which you set this function in preferences and the slideshow size will be automatically reduced for those viewing it on smaller screens.
If you want to give your viewers the opportunity to view large, high quality images, you can supply them as a download.

Where did the "Class Designer" go in JDeveloper 9i... It was in JDev 3.2??
Also, I've read that the printing functionality will be put back into JDeveloper in the next release. It there a date set for this release?
    Thanks

Are we still another release away from getting the printing functionality back?? I just downloaded 903 and it still doesn't have all the printing functionallity that 3.2.3 had?? What happened?

Where did the "Class Designer" go in JDeveloper 9i... It was in JDev 3.2??In JDev9i, the editors are seperated, so right-click in your code editor, and select Class Editor.
Also, I've read that the printing functionality will be put back into JDeveloper in the next release. It there a date set for this release?Unfortunately, we don't have a firm date yet for the next release.

  • I have CS5 which has stopped printing on my Epson R2880,

I have downloaded the drivers for the printer again but Epson say there is no problem with the printer as it prints ok from Microsoft and Apple products,
I reloaded CS5 from the original disc, still no joy so downloaded S5 again, after uninstalling, from the Adobe website.
There are now four updates which will not load, so I am now in the position of not being able to print but also not being able to open my NEF RAW files in Bridge or CS5
The error message I get from CS5 when trying to print is "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents.
I am using i Mac Mavericks version 10.9
I have tried to contact Adobe ny phone to talk about the problem but cannot find a telephone number
    Any help would be appreciated

This was partly helpful thank you, I have updated manually and all updates have gone in and I can now get my RAW files to open,
    BUT
Despite removing printer , downloading drivers again and then resetting printers still CS5 does not give me the option to print, I also have an Epson SX 200 which does not appear as an optional printer when I give the print command,
I seem to be between a rock and a hard place here, Adobe seem to think it is an Epson fault and Epson say it is definitely Adobe fault,
I have over £1000 value of CS5 and an Epson R2880 printer and cannot get a print from it.
I am loathed to take up Adobe offer of paying for CS6 and Lightroom on a monthly basis then find I cannot print on that either,
Perhaps I will have to go back to Aperture, which I do not want to, I can print ok from that, which again points to an Adobe problem,
