CS5 ready for prime time?

In a prepress/production environ -- A gal that I work with is getting ID CS5 (design premium suite) and I'm thinking of moving from 4. Are there any bugs/issues to be aware of with 5? I had heard of some people having problems with scrolling/redraw but maybe with iMacs only...? How does it do with Leopard? Snow?
TIA,
Geoff

  • Firefox beta 35 not ready for prime time.

I have spent the entire weekend trying to get the Firefox beta 35 to work. What I have found is that *all* extensions fail to work with the exception of Places Maintenance. I can not download any extension Firefox is so famous for. The error is something like "cannot install 'plugin-name' in it's current state." Enabling any extension require a FF restart, even Places Maintenance. Trying to remove an extension fails and must be done manually.
I am on Windows 7 Premium desktop Firefox, 32 bit. I "committed" myself to FF 35 last night (which meant clearing history and cache on exit because the extension "Expire History by Days" was no longer working), when I discovered that 35 was not playing nice with some sites using Flash. It was a capricious thing. Many sites worked as normal but some would not render at all. Examples:
    http://www.wunderground.com/US/WI/La_Crosse.html
    http://www.weather.com/weather/5day/l/Hustler+WI+54637:4:US
First time I have has a problem with a Firefox beta, but it is definitely not ready for prime time. I realize FF is attempting to get away from what we are calling "Proprietary add-ons" but FF 35 in its present state will just fill the Moz Support forums with millions of complaints (guess I am one of the first). I have at present 1 extension (the only one that works on 35), the above mentioned "Places Maintenance."
I thought you might like this report as "user input." God knows I have tried...I must have downloaded 35 at least a dozen times and then been forced back to 34.0.5. So I am back on 34.0.5
I have submitted a bug report here:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1108196
Let me know if anyone else is having these problems or anyone needs more information. I'd love to help fix this. I know some of you good support people have probably tried 35. Are you having the same difficulties?
Below is my (34.0.5 but the same as I had on 35 last night with the exception of "Version") trouble shooting information minus a million entries for my printer:

  • Are the WLS 9.1 Web Service Ant Tasks ready for prime time?

I am trying to create a Proof of Concept (POC) for Enterprise and B2B Services at Wendy's Int'l, Inc.
As part of this POC, I created a WSDL for an in-house service and then used the wsdlc and jwsc Ant Tasks to translate this WSDL to Java classes and ultimately (I hoped) a deployable services.
In this document, I describe the issues I encountered setting up what I consider to be a simple POC.
I'll try to attach my WSDL file and build.xml so you can follow along.
I'll also try to attach my CSS file so you can compare how the generated WSDL appears in the Browser to the way I want it to appear.
If attachments are not allowed on these forums, then I will wait and see if there is interest in those documents before I paste them under this topic.
Some preliminary information about my environment.
    Environment:
         Windows XP Pro SP2
         WebLogic 9.1
         Java 1.5.0_04
    Service Name:
         AppRelease
Note: If I modify my WSDL (perhaps to add a new Operation or to change the definition of an element) and run wsdlc again, the AppReleaseSOAPPortImpl.java file is overwritten For this reason, I implemented my service logic in a class called AppReleaseServiceImple.java.
    Now, for the issues.
    1.     Bug:
In the WSDL generated by wsdlc, the wsdl:part child of the wsdl:message tag is erroneously prefixed with a colon.
This occurs whether or not I specify a prefix for the http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/ namespace.
Work around: Extract the wsdl from the jar file, fix it and add it back into the jar.
    2.     Bug:
In the WSDL generated by wsdlc, the wsdl:input and wsdl:output children of the wsdl:operation child of wsdl:portType tag are erroneously prefixed with a colon. Like 1 above, this occurs whether or not I specify a prefix for the http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/ namespace.
Work around: Extract the wsdl from the jar file, fix it and add it back into the jar.
The error message generated by Bugs 1 and 2 is not helpful in diagnosing the problem:
    [jwsc] Error at line:46 col:7 ':' expected [?! -- [CDATA[ ]
    3.     Bug:
In the WSDL generated by wsdlc, the documentation elements have all of my html elements stripped out, as well as my xhtml and wsdl namespace references. This completely negates one of the best features of the documentation tag, being able to present the WSDL in a browser as a nicely formatted, human friendly document which is also the underlying WSDL that can be viewed when the person views the source document.
I label this as a bug because it greatly reduces the functionality of the resulting WSDL.
    4.     Annoyance:
The WSDL generated by wsdlc has all of my comments stripped out, except the comments in the xsd:schema section of the wsdl:types element. I would prefer that all my comments be left in the WSDL, but if comments must be stripped out then I think all of the comments should be stripped out.
    5.     Annoyance:
The WSDL generated by wsdlc has my CSS specification stripped.
Work around: I don’t know if adding the CSS back will do any good because I have not yet created a deployable service (see the last issue below).
    6.     Annoyance:
The WSDL generated by wsdlc has different namespace prefixes than the ones I specified for my application's namespace and for the http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/ namespace.
Work around: Perform a find/replace on namespace prefixes "s0" and "s1" to return them to my prefered values.
Another thing I can do at this point is simply replace the generated WSDL in the jar file with my original WSDL. This would address issues 1 thru 6 above.
    7.     Annoyance:
The java source files created by wsdlc are put into a jar file. This makes it annoying when working within a traditional IDE like Eclipse because there is no way to reference the source files within the jar as working source.
Work around: Extract the source files from the jar and identify the resulting directory structure as part of the source structure of the project.
    8.     Bug:
The jwsc task complains if the same parameter name is used in multiple operations. I received the following Errors from jwsc:
    [jwsc] C:\IDE\workspace\Acre-WL9.1\AppReleaseSOAPPort.java 0:0
[jwsc] [ERROR] - Parameter element "{http://acre.services.wendys.com/AppRelease/}garRequest" is not unique across document/literal bare WebService.
Since the operation names are unique, I see no reason to also require uniqueness in the parameter names used by those operations.
Work around: Use unique element names for the input parameters of the services operations.
    9.     Bug:
Once items 1, 2 and 8 above are taken care of, jwsc fails with the following error:
    java.lang.AssertionError: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: weblogic.j2ee.descriptor.ApplicationBeanImpl
This seems to be due to the weblogic.jar file not being in the System Classpath.
However, I should note that when I set verbose="on" and debug="on" in the jwsc ant task, there was a message from the task which stated "[jwsc] [search path for class files: [big freakin’ jar list]". In the big freakin’ jar list, I did find weblogic.jar and weblogic.jar has the required ApplicationBeanImpl. This indicates to me that the jwsc task does not fully honor either its classpathref attribute, nor an embedded classpath element.
Work around: Make sure the weblogic.jar is in the System Classpath.
    10.     Bug:
I fixed bug #9 by running a setDomainEnv script and then ran my ant task. This time I received the following output:
    ant build-serviceBuildfile: build.xml
    build-service:
[jwsc] 1 JWS files will be processed.
    [jwsc] Processing JWS: C:\IDE\workspace\Acre-WL9.1\src\com\wendys\services\acre\AppReleaseServiceImpl.java
    [jwsc] JWS: C:\IDE\workspace\Acre-WL9.1\src\com\wendys\services\acre\AppReleaseServiceImpl.java Validated.
    [AntUtil.deleteDir] Deleting directory <some temporary directory>
    BUILD FAILED
    java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError
At this point, I am completely stymied about how to proceed.
I wonder what new issues await once this 10th issue is addressed.
Really, is this tool set ready for prime time?

<i>Sorry to hear you are having so many issues with using the WLS 9.1 web service Ant tasks, inside of Eclipse.
I generally create a User Library for the couple weblogic jars needed, and use it (the User Library) in my Eclipse projects that I create JWSes in.</i><br>
I also have a separate WebLogic Library in Eclipse (actually 2 libraries since I work with WL 8.1 and now WL 9.1). As you may know, one of the long-standing issues with the Ant integration within Eclipse is the fact that Ant, being an External Tool, does not receive the Project-specific Paths/Libraries. However, since most Java-relevant Ant tasks can take classpath and classpathref attributes, this is usually not an issue. In the case of the BEA-supplied wsdlc Ant task, it is apparent from the verbose/debug console output that wsdlc can see the jars in its classpathref, but it ignores those references when resolving class references and instead only uses the system classpath.
    <p>
<i>I've only needed the weblogic.jar and xbean.jar, not all the ones you mentioned in an earlier thread of this post.</i><br>
I have not tried to winnow down exactly which jars are required. I simply included all the jars that exist and were added to the system classpath by the setDomainEnv.bat file created by WebLogic 9.1.
    <p>
<i>Afterwards, I create an Ant Builder to build the JWS Web Service EAR, as opposed to fiddlin' with Eclipse.</i><br>
I too use Ant to build my deployable archives. Eclipse is simply my IDE of choice. I validated that all the issues I listed occurred when running Ant from the command line.
    <p>
<i>If you are interested in how I do it, send me an e-mail (to [email protected]), and I'll send you a zip of one of these JWS projects. The build.xml script for the project, takes care of a lot of the "annoyances" you mentioned, one of which I think is not accurate. I have never had a situation where the wsdlc Ant task "overwrote" my XXXImpl.java file..</i><br>
Since I'm doing a POC to determine how we want to proceed with developing Web Services and an SOA in general, I tried to perform the same tasks using Axis 2 1.0, the WebLogic 9.1 tools, and XFire 1.1. Overwriting the Impl class is a common failing in the tools which take a WSDL and create Java source files for all three frameworks.
    <p>
Try my scenario. Add another operation to an existing WSDL, and run the wsdlc Ant Task. The old IMPL class will be over-written.
    <p>
Because of this, I have a separate Impl class and I make sure that all its methods and annotations match the methods and annotations in the Skeleton Impl class created by wsdlc.
    <p>
<i>Maybe that's because I use the <exec> Ant task with jar.exe (the xvf options) in my build.xml, to only get what I need out of the .jar/.zip the wsdlc generates. I'm typically only interest in the interface class that my XXXImpl.java file needs to implements, because I use XMLBeans for the input args (and return values) of my web service operations.</i><br>
Perhaps. I am not using XMLBeans in any of the three frameworks because the resulting service seems to be lighter-weight in all three frameworks if XMLBeans is not used. I'm sure there will be scenarios where XMLBeans is preferred, but I have not encountered that case in this POC.
    <p>
    <i>Regards,
    Mike Wooten</i>
    Thanks for the follow-up.

  • Leopard and CS3 - Are they ready for prime time?

Trying to revive this thread, I manage 130 Macs at an art school and I am starting to research what I am going to do this summer as far as OS and CS versions. Currently we are on 10.4.9 and CS2 and about 15% of our Macs are Intels. I am concerned as I am not hearing good things about Leopard and I am wondering if CS3 is ready for prime time. I should note that stability is my first priority NOT the latest OS and App versions. So the question is are they ready for prime time or should I stay with CS2 and Tiger or should I go CS3 and Tiger.

Summer is a long way off, so hard to guess. I would say that if they don't have the kinks out by then, they probably never will, but still a gamble at this point IMO. I have one of the new Mac Pros (early 2008) w/CS3 Apps installed. I have been using all the below listed apps for the past two weeks without any major problems so far, but I also know that I may be living on the edge right now. I don't feel confident enough to switch to Leopard on my other two computers yet. My restarts on the new machine take about 30-seconds between selecting Restart and ready to start work again (vs about 1.5-2 minutes on my Dual G5). Apps like Photoshop CS3 launch in about 1/3 the time. But all of this speed means absolutely nothing when you slam into an incompatibility - that is the real time trap - I spent the last 8 hours doing nothing but tracking down a Permissions problem in Leopard that none of the utilities will currently fix.
These appear to be working for me so far...
    Photoshop CS3
    Illustrator CS3
    InDesign CS3
    Flash CS3
    Dreamweaver CS3
    Bridge CS3
    Lightroom
    After Effects CS3
    Contribute CS3
    What doesn't work yet...
Acrobat Pro & Acrobat Reader (fix was expected from Adobe last month)
    Other issues encountered so far...
Most Photoshop and After Effects Plugins required paid upgrades to function in Leopard/CS3 (over $1500 for me the past week)
Monitor calibrator software (such as Artisan) dead with no fixes, but to buy all new hardware calibrators/software - again! - another $1000 bucks
I purchased the Silverfast Leopard upgrade ($105) to get the Epson 4870 scanner plugin to work with Photoshop CS3, but having problems - I think it is a Leopard problem
Adobe UPDATES menu item is dimmed out in all CS3 apps.
Having lots of Leopard User Permissions problems - hopefully 10.5.2 will help?

  • ICloud is not ready for prime time.

I will preface these remarks by acknowledging that I have probably made a complete hash of trying to set up and use iCloud with my iPhone 3GS (iOS 5) and 24" iMac (Lion 10.7.2) and iTunes (10.5).
None-the-less, I find iCloud to be poorly executed, unreliable, unnecessarily and unpleasantly surprising, destructive, poorly documented, and dare I write it: Microsoft-like.  Furthermore iCloud smacks of Orwell's "1984": now that I'm in it's not possible to get out and erase my presence in iCloud.  Or, as the Eagles sang in Hotel California, "'Relax,' said the nightman, 'We are programmed to receive. You can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave.'"
I initially set up iCloud on my iPhone shortly after installing iOS 5, using my existing iTunes appleid.  On the morning of October 17 I turned everything on in Settings>iCloud and watched my iPhone battery go from 97% to 10% in seven hours(!)  Every time I so much as looked cross-eyed at my iPhone it would write something to iCloud.  So I turned everything off and observed that battery consumption returned to what I am used to.  (Meanwhile, I had not yet activated my iMac in iCloud.)
About this time I figured out that the new Reminders app is a Really Good Thing.  I created several Lists and transcribed dozens of Calendar events (that were, in fact, reminders) to Reminders.  I then performed weed abatement in Calendar and cable-Sync'd with my iMac.  Presto!  Much cleaner calendars.  I then decided it would be nice to have my reminders show up in the iCal Reminders side bar on my iMac.  Even though the iPhone User Guide For iOS 5.0 Software describes, on page 95, how one enables Reminders sync-ing in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars, this function is not implemented in iOS 5.  A kindly My iPhone tech told me the only way to sync Reminders is through iCloud.
Meanwhile, I decided that my iCloud information would be more secure if I created a new appleid just for iCloud.  I would create a new iCloud-only appleid and use it to activate both my iPhone and iMac in iCloud.  (Oh God, what a mess this effort would create.)
I quickly discovered that I could not change my iCloud appleid in Settings>iCloud, but would have to delete my iCloud account and start over.  So I did.  I then dreamed up a new appleid.  As all the on-screen documentation used "[email protected]" I decided to create a mailbox at me.com.  I got precisely nowhere: The second My iPhone senior technician I talked to got around to explaining that any email address containing "@me.com" is considered a MobileMe address and is inelegible for use with iCloud.  (Aw <expletive deleted>.)  Mind you, getting this far consumed over four hours of my time and that of three Apple technicians spread over two days.
    But that's not all!
It's now Monday morning, October 24.  When I activated my iMac in iCloud, my laboriously-created Reminders disappeared!  Vanished.  Six completed reminders dating from October 17 (when I first turned on iCloud in my iPhone and fiddled with the Reminders and other apps) were all that remained.  In my iPhone.  In iCloud.  In iCal.  That was really annoying.  What was disappointing was discovering that iCal's Reminders functionality is seriously deficient and, in my opinion, not worth using.  So all the preceding effort to get iCloud up and running was (in my opinion) wasted.  I really have no need for, nor desire to use, the other iCloud facilities (with the likely exception of Find My iPhone--that seems like a good idea).
    But wait, there's more!
Monday evening, October 24, being thoroughly disenchanted with iCloud, I set about disentangling my iMac from iCloud.  (Queue "Hotel California".)  I started un-checking the boxes in System Preferences>iCloud.  When I got to Address Book, iCloud wiped it clean!  That's when I discovered that I cannot recover Address Book Groups from Time Machine.  All 900 vCards, yes.  The 29 Groups into which they were sorted, no.  (Aw <expletive deleted>.)  iCloud had a complete Address Book in Contacts, as did my iPhone.  I didn't see any way to tell iCloud to push its complete Contacts  down to Address Book.  Fortunately for the many fine My iPhone techs, the switchboard was closed for the day.  I put my iMac to sleep, shut off the modem, and broke out the Wild Turkey.  Nighty-night, everybody!
Now it's Tuesday morning, October 25.  I turn on my modem, wake my iMac, and retire to the kitchen to brew some coffee.  A while later I return to my iMac to check email and perform my other morning rituals.  Lo and behold!   My Address Book is restored to its former glory!  iCloud (bless its black heart) has saved me.
Tuesday afternoon.  My iPhone.  Another senior tech.  Another hour-and-a-half on the phone.  My iMac is now cut-off from iCloud.  iCloud still has an empty Calendar and an empty Contacts.  It seems that if one stumbles into the iCloud quicksand one can never extricate oneself completely.  ("Hotel California" reprise.)  But I'm free!  Free, you hear!  Free!  Except for Find My iPhone.  That's a good thing.  It's the only item turned on in Settings>iCloud.  It can find my iPhone.  All the boxes in System Preferences>iCloud are un-checked.
    "Never more!" cried the raven.

    ADDITION:
Well, I finally had Pages >iCloud>iPad explained so I could make it work.
The best thing to do is think of this as a one-way system. Stuff moves from the iPad to iCloud automatically; stuff must be moved manually to/from the desktop (iMac,Macbook etc)  to iCloud.
For example with Pages this is what works for me:
    Open Pages
    Open iCloud.com > iWork > Pages
    Then...
Pages > Open > All My Files >Document
Drag n' Drop Pages Document > iCloud > Pages page
It will then upload it to your IOs device; any changes made on the iPad are automatically "saved" on iCloud, but to get them into your desktop you will have to reverse the process:
Open iCloud.com > iWork > Pages >select document > Download >Pages (or Word, PDF) and that "new" file will open in your desktop Pages.
Strangly, iPhoto simply links both ways, or so it seems to this point but I have high hopes I will come acropper when I get into it.
The iCloud system is certainly not the automatic "it's all in iCloud" as presented by Apple. Yeah, it is in the cloud, but you have to go through several steps to get it there and it certainly isn't the transparent simple sync that is being marketed.

  • SL Upgrade not ready for prime time - too many issues for no real value

I am thinking the upgrade to SL was a mistake -
On a macbook pro that was running acceptable. Decided to jump on the SL bandwagon....and I am finding reduced battery charge, a service the battery icon, battery times that jump up and down by 20-30 min in the status bar, system shut downs, loss of range on AE that we use for airtunes and when it connects, itunes cut outs as the device is 10 ft away!. Add in that both Rapidweaver and Quickboks for Mac dont run, many keychain errors, system crashes and al this for ..... for no real benefit!
On bright side I see is that I'm glad it was only $9.95 on the up to date program - $29 would have been a waste of that extra $20!
Hurry up Microsoft, er, Apple and get a fix out quickly!
next time, will wait till after the next bug fix as this seems to happen all the time!

I have to admit some confusion - you have way too much to keep backing up such that Time Machine wouldn't work? That seems the exact reason to use Time Machine - constant, automatic updates!
Did you try holding the option key? Like I said, the SL install/hard drive should have no effect on your ability to boot into Leopard, especially at this stage of the boot process. If you Mac Pro can't see your Leopard install at this stage, that suggest some hardware error - SL wouldn't even have booted at this point! But with Time Machine, the 200 gigs of data wouldn't be a problem - it could be pick what you needed fairly easily and you could narrow the data as needed.
I'm not sure what your issue is with "being testers" for Apple - certainly you knew that going into this OS upgrade, as you stated with Leopard. There are going to be issues, sometimes serious ones, with new OS upgrades - the vast majority of people might have no issues, but it's not impossible that you will. Certainly in my case, none of my day to day programs have crashed - even Photoshop CS opens like normal! Maybe it's because I did an archive and install with Leopard before my SL install, but I'm certainly not experiencing your issues.
If you don't want to Time Machine, then the easiest thing to do would be to erase the current SL install, clone the Leopard install to the other partition, and then try the upgrade holding the "C" key to boot from the DVD. But it looks like you're not really looking for help anymore. Hope all is well, nonetheless!

  • Upgrade not quite ready for prime time

I have 2 phones that I spent the better part of last evening try to upgrade to IOS 5.0 and each was more frustrating then the other. Got all the error messages, couldn't backup, stuck in the endless cycles. Had to reboot the old 3GS model several times.
The other frustrating feature, I have to download the same file on the same computer for different users. You would think that given the size and amount of time to download, they would be able to share the same file for all users. The second download took almost 2 hours where the first was about one hour. I feel for those with slower connections.
This is the first time I've had problems like this. It seems that with a major upgrade like this, the folks at Apple should have tested this out a little better. This was a most unpleasant experiance and one that the average person would just throw the phone against the wall.  I hope this doesn't portend the future for Apple here, SJ deserves better.

In the future (though it shouldn't matter since OTA updating is now available) you can copy the installer from one iTunes Library to the other.
For example, update files for iPad are downloaded to ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates. You can copy the file from that folder to somewhere where everyone can reach it, then copy it into the same place in each user's profile before starting iTunes.
It is a pain, but it's designed to store the downloads in the user's home folder so that they don't need to be an administrator to update their device (which would be required if the download was stored in a common area, such as /Library/Application Support).

  • Flex PHP Wizard Issues (Is Flex/PHP ready for prime time)

I have been designing a website using Flex. I thought of using Flex form many reasons, but one was to reduce the number of languages used in the development process. I am going to be hosting at Godaddy so I thought  I would try PHP. I normally would use Java, but Flex seems to want Enterprise Beans and Java Remote Objects which cost to much and would probably not work on Godaddy. I started out with MAMP on a Apple computer and have design 60% of my application, when I started noticing as the database go larger, I started getting communication errors with the MAMP version of mysql. So I installed MySQL and and started using Apache and PHP that comes with OSX. The communication errors are increased.
Any suggestions? I am at the point, if I can find a proven programmer, with GoDaddy/Flex/MySQL/PHP and Java experience to help answer some question, I think I can come up with contract dollars.
First question is Flex ready? or is this an issue with PHP?

have moved this thread from the ADDT forums to the Flex Data Services forums

  • I want to go back to 3.6, 4.0 is slow, it crashes, it freezes, it doesn't work with my blog, did I mention slow. Not ready for Prime Time.

4.0 sucks, I want to go back to 3.6. Please don't force us to 4.0 until ALL the kinks are worked out!

Sorry to hear it isn't working for you. I know everyone has different add-ons and sites they visit, so it's hard to compare experiences. (Works great for me.)
First, make a backup of your computer for safekeeping. To back up Firefox, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 4, and uninstall it. Do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Then finally you can reinstall Firefox 3.6. Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, it should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this downgrade myself!

  • Kernel26-lts 2.6.32 ready for prime time?

As far as I understood write access to the [Testing] ML is Dev/TU only, so I thought I'd share this here. I just installed the 2.6.32 kernel26-lts package from [Testing] on my AppleTV. The recent kernel/nVidia driver updates (not sure which one is the culprit, but it's pretty much a moving target on a box that needs fairly stable stuff) made HD playback choppy and caused higher CPU usage (even idle). Hence my decision to switch to the (hopefully upcoming) kernel26-lts and built nvidia 190.53 and the corresponding nvidia-utils package against it. So far it seems to run fine, I still have to play HD content on it but I'll report if any problems arise. I just switched my server too, but since both systems are meant for stability (within reason of course, since it's still Arch), I was a bit wary to pull the kernel from [Testing] without a full sync (I know, bad mojo). Then again, the other deps it needs are met by any up to date non-current systems.
One question though: shouldn't there be a corresponding kernel26-lts-firmware package, or is the firmware included in the kernel26-lts package? Pacman says the lts package just needs 2.6.27 firmware or higher.

Yeah I forgot that 2.6.34 from testing on my laptop pulled in that package Sorry about that

  • Is SQLJ/Oracle ready for prime time ?

I would like to get some feedback regarding
SQLJ technology. I'm in the evaluation stages
and experience from the other sides could be
    very beneficial.
    Some questions:
    - any thoughts regarding speed of Java SP
vs. PL/SQL (typical usage: cursors, updates, inserts, some calc.) ?
    - maturity of the development tools (JDeveloper, ...) ?
    - process improvements (team separation, application people involved in DB applications, ...) ?
    - portability (is this really works on other
platforms - even with few code changes ) ?
    - overall verdict ?
All your thoughts are very welcome!
    Thanks,
    Zoran

    I have several problems with RoboHelp9. I am using Windows7 and 64bit.
Conditional build tags apply themselves unwanted and unassigned.
The deletion of conditional build tags at the topic properties tag (right side window) does not work.
I have to repeatedly go back and forth to the dialog and keep selecting and deleting.
Some of the conditional build tags go clear, most don't.
I go into the topic directly in the wysiwyg view and manually try to select and delete them, and they delete only with difficulty.
After running through a long topic and using every method available to clear conditional build tags, I saved the project, then went in to manually apply cbtags, of which I am only using two.
After applying them, and switching to the html window to adjust image sizes manually (because thru the wysiwyg interface the process takes too long), I find that the conditional build tag I applied to several tables and texts at the top of my topic have now applied themselves unasked to a number of the texts and even tables which I had cleared of all cbtags.
I have just about had it with this program.
This is only one of the many problems and bugs I have found and been trying to work around.
I suppose that the solution to my problem is to not use conditional build tags at all, but I am working with about five years' worth of legacy technical documents that have all been upgraded to RH9 and as I am looking at them to make the standard revisions, I am noticing this phenomenon of wrongly applied cbtags in other projects.
I would rate this as a bug of very high and critical importance.
Has anyone seen this under the consitions stated? (RH9, upgraded RH7 projects, Windows7, 64bit).

  • HP Envy 700-214 desktop drivers not ready for Windows 10 Prime Time

Really disappointed in HP for not being ready for W10 rollout.  I upgraded my HP Envy desktop PC 700-214 and after the upgrade, I could not connect to the internet.  Didn't recognize the networking hardware.  Went to HP Support (on different computer) and found out here aren't W10 drivers yet for this machine.  Very Poor.My wife has a Dell laptop and we have another older Dell that upgraded no problem.  Why because Dell is on top of their $__t when it comes to this stuff.Won't by HP again.

Also with the lastest Windows HP will probably not support redoing drivers for older system as that will be cost prohibited to do. And it will be up to the Endusers to find the right drivers and software that matches their system to work with Windows 10 assuming they work with Windows 10. As to Dell that is something only Dell can answer that question and since we don't know if this is Dell Consumer or Business product since this falls outside of HP forums to discuss. You can't expect to have drivers if your system is too old to support Windows 10.

  • Order not ready for pick up second time

yesterday i bought a macbook for store pick up because i need it for travel and work. 3 hours went by and i never got the prduct released because the bridge decided to sit on it even though customer service said all was clear. i had to cancel order. today i gave best buy a second chance and its been 3 hours and i still have been heald up again. this is really making me never want to buy from best buy again nor recomend it.

    Hi there Ebiasaf1983,
When making a purchase for travel and work, it can be a bit nerve racking to ensure you get it in time, especially if you are leaving soon for your travels! Generally speaking, our Store Pickup option is the perfect option in such a situation as you can place the order and have it ready for you when you get to the store.
I'm sorry to hear that your MacBook order may have been taking longer than you anticipated to process so that our store may fulfill it. It is discouraging to hear that this led you to cancel your order, and that you encountered a similar experience when you decided to try replacing the order. Using the email address you registered with the forum, I was able to see that you were able to pickup your order last night. If you should need any further assistance, please let us know!

  • Am I ready for Time Machine?

    Hello Everyone!
I recently bought a copy of Leopard and was wondering if I am ready for Time Machine? My iMac has a 250GB HD and the Lacie External HD I was planning to use it with is 300GB. I read somewhere that in order for Time Machine to work properly, the External Drive should be bigger than the main Hard Drive. So my question is this: Should I wait and use TM with a bigger Drive or will it work properly with the Lacie? Should I get something with a bit more room, perhaps a 320 or 500GB Drive? Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions!
    Mike.

The more room you have the more backups can be made before the drive is full. Unless your 250 GB drive is full the 300 GB drive would be a good place to start. Then later you can get a bigger drive and continue using TM there.
