CS5 Runtime Error Photoshop.exe

I've had CS5 since 17 May and several times, when trying to open a file from Bridge, I get 'Runtime Error Photoshop.exe' - annoys the you-know-what out of me!!!
It happens:
starting the computer again from Standby mode - means I have to Restart the computer each time, and
changing Preferences - in Bridge and Photoshop.  Not sure which Preferences cause the Runtime Error, so I'm stuck with default settings.
Tech Support advised me that it 'might be due to damaged preference files and to recreate the Photoshop preferences file ... too complicated for this little black duck.
Anyone else have similar problems and, if so, have you managed to fix it.  If you have, could you explain how in KISS terms.
Ta!

Just a general comment...
It may not be "green" but I never, ever allow my computer to go into Standby mode.  If you read the Microsoft forums, it becomes clear that Windows has always been rife with problems that occur after "waking" a sleeping computer.  Maybe it's just something that's not tested that much.  Note that I'm specifically talking about "Standby", not "Hibernate".
In general heat and power cycles are harder on computer hardware than just keeping it on at a steady temperature.  That said, make sure and clean the dust out occasionally, as it will accumulate faster when a computer is left on.
Some say disk drives might have shorter lives if left on, but my experience, working an entire career in large companies with lots of computers, is just the opposite:  By FAR we saw more drive failures after power cycles.  On desktops that people would turn off, disks wouldn't spin up, or just started failing to read properly.  By contrast, there were whole banks of computers in test labs, for example, that just stayed on 24/7 on UPS power and never had any problems.  Our IT department finally advised everyone to leave their systems on when they went home, which also facilitated software maintenance and backups.
I know this can't help in some cases, e.g., laptops, but if you are willing to spend the money for a little more power, avoiding the use of "Standby" on a desktop system is a workaround that can actually help stabilize computer operation.

  • SOLUTION - Photoshop CS5 Runtime Error, R6025, runtime c++

    Hello All CS5 Photoshop Users.
You have been getting an error on Photoshop CS5 Runtime Error, R6025 C++ in 64bit
I finally figured the solution for this.
What you have to do is this:
    Uninstall all the Runtimes x86 x64 for 2005, 2008, 2010
    Uninstall the entire CS5 Photoshop.
    Go to your C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (64bit)\Plugins\
    Delete any 3rd party plugins
    Go to C:\Program Files (86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop\Plugins\
    Delete any 3rd party plugins
    Reboot
Re-install CS5 Photoshop, when selecting the installation make sure to install 32bit and 64bit, when you are installing 64bit and you select it will also select 32bit, install the CS5 Photoshop.
    Now install the Runtimes from Microsoft x86 x64 for 2005, 2008, 2010
Confirm the size of the runtimes from microsoft with cs5 photoshop runtimes
Location of MS Runtime - C:\Windows\winsxs
    Install the plugins and done!!!!!
Hope this helps to all CS5 Photoshop users.

To uninstall the runtimes you can easily do it from registry, best and easy way, this will clear any files which were having conflicts.
Runtime C++ is the error with Visual C++ Runtime.
Go to start > run > type regedit and click OK
    In the registry go to:
    HKLM > Software > Microsoft > Windows > Current Version > Uninstall
Expand the Uninstall and you will see many folders or Keys with long names like {002D9D5E-29BA-3E6D-9BC4-3D7D6DBC735C} ...click on them one by one, on the right side you will see what application it is. On the right side look for these
    Name: DisplayName
    Data: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 ATL Update kb973924 - x86 9.0.30729.4148
    Name: UninstallString
    Data: MsiExec.exe /X{002D9D5E-29BA-3E6D-9BC4-3D7D6DBC735C}
Make sure the name is Microsoft Visual C++..... any version, you will for sure have more than 3-4.
Double click on the UninstallString and copy the Data, go to start > run > and paste , click on OK, and the uninstall will begin.
WARNING - Please make sure you close all the application before proceeding. Go to task manager and kill any process which is not running by system like any third party application including third party WLAN software, or any other, check system tray (bottom right corner before the clock).
Once you have all this done you will not have any problem.
When installing CS5 on 64bit application, make sure to install CS5 32bit as well because of some dll and system files being not fully compatible.
First uninstall the CS5, then uninstall the runtimes, backup your Plugins as folders, you can over write them later without reinstalling them.
    OR
Uninstall runtimes, repair CS5 with an option of installing 32bit and 64bit.

  • Photoshop CS5 - Runtime Error!

So I've had Photoshop for years, but just recently I've been given an error upon startup.
This error is stopping me from using Photoshop as it closes straight after the error box is given out.
I must also tell you that I have recently been attacked by a virus which has been recovered from, and since then Photoshop has not been working and producing this error.
    Here it is:
Microsoft Visual C+ + Runtime Library
Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program File\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Photoshop.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
    Any solutions? I can't live without photoshop : ' (

Sounds like it's probably time to reinstall Photoshop, given that the virus may have damaged it.
You could try resetting preferences, but I don't hold a lot of hope for that given that you've had a virus.  To do this, press and hold Control-Shift-Alt immediately after starting Photoshop from its menu entry or shortcut.  You have to be quick and if you're quick enough it will prompt you to confirm.

  • Windows cannot find c:\Program files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 64bit\Photoshop exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly.  This error comes up and I can't get photos (raw) to open from bridge.  Also I have Photoshop CC not CS5.1as error states.

Shall I just reinstall the program?  It was running fine until I got a Trojan last week. I'm  pretty sure the Trojan has been removed'

It sounds like your windows registry is messed up.  That you may have had cs5 at one time and upgraded to cs6 than got a subscription and installed  Photoshop CC.  You than followed that with an uninstall of CS6 which backed out its registry update and restored  windows registry Photoshop.exe key to what it replaced your old CS5 path.   Since CS5 is no longer on you machine  you get that message.  Use regedit search for key Photoshop.exe and correct the path to Photoshop CC 2014...

  • InDesign CS5 Runtime Error

I've seen a ton of these discussions around here but none of them seem to help my specific problem so hopefully somebody can help me out.
We just bought InDesign CS5 at my job, I'm the lead graphics coordinator, and I'm getting runtime errors every time I try to start it up. Start up seems fine until it gets to "Starting up Service Registry." Once it gets there I get the error "Runtime Error! Program C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS5\InDesign.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way..."
    Here is the error signature:
    AppName: indesign.exe     AppVer: 7.0.3.535     ModName: msvcr90.dll
    ModVer: 9.0.30729.4148     Offset: 0005bea4
I have Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5 installed on this machine as well and have had no problems with them at all. I'm on Windows XP SP3, and I made sure InDesign was up to date as well. I really hope somebody can help me out because I have a $1/hour raise relying on this program! If you need any other information let me know, thanks.

    Hi Chris,
I'm having a very similar problem to you.  Exactly the same error message and the same faulting module [msvcr90.dll] (the other websites about this type of error seem to be related to other modules).  Did you find a resolution for the problem?  Did the clean wipe and reinstall method work?
    Thanks,

  • CS5 Runtime Error in Windows 7

    Hey everyone,
I tried searching for this problem but couldn't find a good answer, so i joined in hopes someone could help me.
I have Windows 7 Premium, and I've been using Photoshop CS5 for a while now with now problems. Now when I start it up, i get an error message after the splash screen that says: "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occured. Photoshop will now exit."
    Then another message that says:
    "Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\... (cut off)
THis Application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information".
Then it closes. The only thing i've done recently was update my bios. To try and fix the problem, I updated directx, deleted my prefs, downloaded the new c++ redistribuable, uninstalled/reinstalled photoshop twice and still nothing.
Please help me out or point me in the right direction. Thanks!!!
    -JB

Be sure to download the Audition 3.01 update patch from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4237
Is there any obvious pattern to this crash?  Does it occur while performing any specific edit or operation?  I know you mentioned it was random, but have you seen it crash while sitting idle, or does it only happen in multitrack?

  • PS CS5 Std - Multiple Photoshop.exe Processes Seen Running

Interesting.  On a couple of occasions I have spotted more than one Photoshop.exe process running in Task Manager.  It was a curiosity and I ignored it, thinking perhaps Adobe was doing something special to split up the work.
Today, when updating to Camera Raw 6.1, I saw the message that follows:
Sure enough, even though I had closed the Photoshop application I started the update from, there was a Photoshop.exe *32 running.  Killing that process yielded success with the update, but given that I have read several accounts where people have said they've seen the above error as well, I wonder whether there's a systemic problem with PS CS5.
I have Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.  My system is stable otherwise, clean of malware and well maintained.
I realize the Windows environment is one in which anything can and does happen, and believe me I will be checking the health of my system in every way I can, but given that I carefully maintain this system I ask that you please don't discount this problem as a one-off on my particular computer because of something specific I have that's gone wrong.
Those of you running an x64 OS, please start your Task Manager, Processes tab.  Do you see more than one Photoshop.exe (or a Photoshop.exe process when you're not running it).
    -Noel

No, whatever variant (32 bit or 64 bit) you started stays running.  Normally an attempt to start either one afresh brings the currently running variant to the top.  For a very brief period both are running, but I assume the second one up discovers that the first one is running and just activates it.
I have just reproduced the problem, by the way... After a fair bit of editing I was running the Genuine Fractals 6.04 plugin and the plugin trapped out.  Now there is an "orphan" Photoshop.exe *32 process just sitting there, with no window...  It's not actively using any cpu time.
I can't expect Adobe to be concerned about faults arising from 3rd party plugins trapping out, but I'm sure I've seen this issue without that happening.  I will report back if I see it again.

  • Runtime error Outlook.exe with Acrobat 7.0.9

I use Acrobat 7.0.9 professional with Office 2000. When using Outlook I get often messages "Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library Runtime error! Program: X:\Apps\Microsoft Office\Office]Outlook.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in a unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
This error message shows up after deleting a message. Not always. The operating software is Windows XP.

    1 - the latest is 7.1
2 - microsoft has one (maybe two) runtime fixes
    go to http://search.microsoft.com/search.aspx?mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US
search for the text of the error message, or "something like"
    runtime update
and follow the links to find the download

  • Ps CS5 - Runtime error - which files need to be deleted ? -  if thats the fix

So I just went thru all this with Adobe Premiere, and now I will have to go thru it with Ps5.   I am getting the run time error in my  Ps CS 5 version 12.0.4  x64 , running on a PC window 7.
The program crashes immediately upon opening. With premier I had to go in and delete a preferences file, and then it worked again (Thanks to A.T. Romano for the fix) but I lost any
projects that were in the works. Anyone know how to fix the photoshop problem? And is it likely I will be going thru this with my Lightroom 3 as well?
    Thanks

Just to clarify, Do you know if thats the fix for ps5 runtime error ? Or just thats how you access preferences ?
    Thanks AC
No you never posted the information about your errors I was just answered your question about preferences. If you want to work on your errors
    Supply pertinent information
The more information you supply about your situation, the better equipped other community members will be to answer. Consider including the following in your question:
    Adobe product and version number
    Operating system and version number
The full text of any error message(s)
What you were doing when the problem occurred
    Screenshots of the problem
Computer hardware, such as CPU; GPU; amount of RAM; etc.

  • Runtime Error CSS_Splash.exe

I recently setup a new notepad computer.  Then I made it part of our network as a User.  When I login as the User, I get the following error message.
Runtime Error.  Program: ...ram Files\Lenovo\Client Security Solution\css_splash.exe
This application has requested the RunTime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support team for more information.
After clicking on OK, everything appears to work properly.  Should I be concerned?
    Thank you.

Search for the file css_splash.exe and rename to css_splash.exe.old.  At next login the correct Client Security Solution screen displayed instead of the runtime error message.

  • Encore CS5 Runtime Error & crashes - HELP!

    Hi everyone
I have installed Encore CS5 with Premiere Pro CS5 and used it to successfully burn a DVD. Today however, when I complete the New Project tab with the name & location/project settings and click OK, there is a pause of about 3 seconds and then a pop up box:
    Runtime Error! Program: C:\...
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in am unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I have looked through the forums etc and the only possible solution was to turn off DLA, but i cannot see how to do this in Windows 7.
If anyone can help I would be most greatful, I don't see why I was able to burn a DVD without this problem last time.
    Thanks!

I know this is an old thread, but I've been getting this recently and managed to find a solution.
Just for future reference this what I did, though not sure exactly which fixed it!..
    I uninstalled Encore CS5
I also uninstalled some software related to the LG Bluray writer I had installed:
    Cyberlink Power2Go
    Cyberlink PowerStarter
    Cyberlink LabelPrint
    Cyberlink PowerProducer.
2 other programs I uninstalled: (less likely to cause a problem, but I was not using them)
    Google Earth
    ArcScan stitch-delux
    Reboot
    Use CCleaner to clean registry.
    Disconnect internet
    Disable Mcafee virus scan
Reinstall Encore CS5... then it all seemed to work ok, could create new projects etc.
My PC is running Windows 7 32bit. The LG writer is a BH10LS30

  • Runtime error. nimxs.exe abnormally terminated by Visual C++ Runtime library

Hello, I installed without a glitch Labview 8.6 evaluation on my notebook (WXP, SP3). I could not launch the software from the outset and keep getting MS Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error about nimxs.exe abnormally terminating the Runtime.
I had not worked with the development software previously. I only had Runtime Engine 7.1 on my computer to work with older VIs that had been working flawlessly. Idi not develop these VIs and had not modified them. I removed the Engine from the computer and rebooted several times to no success. The forum discussions about this kind of error are not pertinent to this problem of installation that has never worked. I tried to disable firewall and antivirus and added nimxs.exe to the firewall's enabled software, again to no success.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

    Hello David,
it did not help. Since I could not run LabVIEW any time I do not think the database got corrupted. The message (snapshot attached) appears on the computer start up. I would suspect the firewall, but disabling it did not help either.
