CS5 – Should codes on packaging & CD match?

I am trying to determine if there is a correlation between the code on packaging and that on the CDs for Adobe CS5 Design Premium.  The pack shows line 1: 9101xxxx and line 2: DVS/A, MDIA, 5.0, WIN,GEN,WWE,ACT.  The CD only shows 9101yyyy 1/10.  That is last 4 digits differ.
TIA, Granville.

I guess I have answered my own question as CS5 installed without an problem even with the mismatch.

  • SOS...Cant Install CS5, Exit Code 7, memory requirement not met, etc.

I am attempting installation of newly purchased CS5 Design Premium.  My system will not support InDesign so I unchecked that before attempting install. I ran install under normal and safe boot and the following messages occur in each..
    Exit Code: 7......0 fatal error(s), 65 error(s), 124 warning(s)

My file system is Journaled HFS+ , (is this case-insensitive??) with 30 GB free. I am running a 32bit MacBook with OSX 10.6.8  I have been on with tech support where I purchased the CS5 design premium. I have 1GB RAM, I was told by them that I need 2GB, the box system requirements state it needs 1GB and the read me file says I need 500MB.
Is this something that would prevent my install and cause these install errors under exit code 7?  The warning pertaining to dependent operation failure seems too generic to help at all.  I have been trying to get this program up and running for a week and my work is piling up, please help or advise.  My head is spinning!
Note: Please keep in mind that I am new to Mac OS. I always been stuck with a Windows PC until recently. Therefore some things are difficult for me to grasp at this point.

  • InDesign CS5.5 - Crashes When Packaging

    Using: InDesign CS5.5, 7.5.2
    On:  Mac OSX 10.6.8
When trying to package certain of our jobs, InDesign will momentarily hangup during font or link collection before crashing completely.  Initially, this was only happening on large multiple-page, image-heavy files, but now even small files, with only one or two pages and a handful of images are failing.  I have read through other discussions on similar issues and have tried their fixes (i.e. turning off live preflight, disabling non-system fonts), but the results are still the same.  Packaging has become a necessary portion of our workflow if only for image-gathering prior to archiving and this issue is really becoming a problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the Adobe Crash Data here if it helps in diagnoising the root cause:  http://pastebin.com/dJuV53Ja
    Thanks!

I have to say, it's so awesome that so many people are posting their crash reports in 2012, without having to be asked for them! It sure makes it easier to help, at least theoretically.
I have read through other discussions on similar issues and have tried their fixes (i.e. turning off live preflight, disabling non-system fonts), but the results are still the same.
Have you tried exporting to IDML? Do you have any third-party extensions?
Packaging has become a necessary portion of our workflow if only for image-gathering prior to archiving and this issue is really becoming a problem.
If it is only for image-gathering, you can use use Links (panel menu) > Utilities > Copy Links, see http://indesignsecrets.com/copy-all-your-linked-images.php for a discussion. Probably an adequate workaround.
I have the Adobe Crash Data here if it helps in diagnoising the root cause:  http://pastebin.com/dJuV53Ja
    Well, this is rather atypical:

    Thread 20 Crashed:

    8   libSystem.B.dylib                  0x94cbe0de thread_start + 34
It would appear that the crash is entirely in Apple's code, in a thread Apple created, i.e. very much "not InDesign's fault." But looks can be deceiving.
Anyhow, the implication is that there's something wrong with one of the links in a weird way. Network filesystem?
Though thread 20 was presumably spawned from the main thread, 0, which appears to be waiting for its completion:

Fundamentally, we can see from frame #15 that the AdobeAFL library has been invoked to copy a file, and then Apple's file copying code is running along and somehow ultimately crashing.
Still doesn't tell us why. It vaguely reminds me of a crash someone was having a few months ago when they rightclicked on an image object. Turned out that when InDesign was building the "Edit With" menu, to show all applications that could open a particular file, some ancient (Rosetta-enabled PPC app?) program was gumming up the works and making the process of enumerating applications break. Which translated into an inability to rightclick.
While I'm not suggesting you should necessarily go through and trash any ancient applications in your Applications/ folder (just moving them is probably not sufficient either. I guess you could create a DMG and put them on the DMG and unmount it), that might be vaguely related. Hopefully not.
Anyhow, I suspect htis is a problem with a single link. Can you narrow it down to one?

  • How to change package for the program or t code if package not available?

I have a T Code that was imported from ECC5 to BW system.
This t code as well as its program have a package ZXYBC assigned in ECC5 system.
However, the package that it was assigned (ZXYBC) does not exist in BW but exists in ECC5.
Now I am not able to do any modifications (in the BW system)  to the T Code or its associated program as the Package ZXYBC does not exist in BW.
Note: Change Object Directory Entry does not work.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Open your main program of your TCODE in SE80 transaction.(Go to se93 transaction to get the program name for your TCODE).
Right click on the root node.
    Other Functions->Change Package Assignment.
GIve the new package name (THis package should be already created in your system).

  • Flash CS5.5 :Android App won't match screensize

    Hi,
I have created an app for ipad recently with Flash CS5.5. It works just fine, but now I'm trying to publishing it for android devices such as the samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. When I set the document dimensions to 1280x800 the app won't match the screen resolution of the tab and the app displays white bars for filling the gaps.
I tried to enlarge the document width to 1380 pixel but the height won't fit on the other hand...
I exported it landscape view and fullscreen.
    Thanks.

As like that for 1024*768 for ipad, Is that the exact size of android tablet os is 1280x800? whatz ur dimension defined in the flash? Also these two lines of code in your project
    this.stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    this.stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
Publish it in landscape and fullscreen. uncheck the autoorient while publishing.

  • ID CS5 Not Responding upon Packaging

    Hello,
For some time now, (Since my upgrade from CS4 to CS5) when I attempt to package a design file it often crashes ID. (Not Responding) I'm running a 27" iMac, Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X 10.6.7 with 8 GB ram.
It will generally allow me to go as far as selecting what to package. Fonts, Images, etc. I found if I deselected the fonts for packaging, it will usually collect with no problems.
I figured it was some font issue hanging ID. Of course I have repaired permissions and ran disk first aid just incase it was a machine problem. All clear. I also ran FontDoctor which found no errors.
Here's where things get strange - If I leave open the Force Quit Appications window and then package a larger catalog file, even with fonts unchecked, the Force Quit Appications window will show InDesign alternating between not responding and responding. If I allow this to go on long enough, it will generally output the collected file...or crash entirely. ID looks quite unstable on my machine during this process.
If ID hangs long enough, a report is generated, which I dutifully send along to Adobe. Has anyone heard of this strange and annoying issue. For the record, it never happened to be on any previous version of ID. Only CS 5, and yes, I ran CS 4 on this same machine - no packaging issues.
    Thanks for any advice.

The hang reports are not the same as normal crash reports. They are analagous to running Sample Process in the Activity Monitor, but they are a more vague indicator, telling you statistically all the things ID was doing in the period of time sampled, but leaving the human to guess at which was problematic, which may not equate. Whereas when there is a crash, generally it's clear exactly which routine was at fault, though of course sometimes it's not obvious why.
I'm not sure why you don't see the crash logs as well. But fear not, I'm sure you'll have the opportunity to see them again unless the problem is solved.
    [Did IDML help?]
Anyhow, your hang does show some interesting stuff:

That is, the packaging code called the EPS Page Item code, which called the Photoshop Import Filter, which called the AdobePSL library, which ultimately asked the system to allocate memory.
This suggests that the problem relates to some particular EPS file you have in your document (not a font). So I would try process of elimination with such files (divide and conquer). Save As to a tempory workign file. Delete half your images or half your pages. See if the problem is solved. Lather rinse repeat. Of course, if the problem is not 100% reproducible, this is a big pain. Still, it's the way to track it down.
I suspect that AdobePSL is the Adobe Photoshop Library, though that's inconsistent with the finger-pointing at an EPS file. I wouldn't expect PSL to handle them at all, and would expect PSL to be used for PSD files primarily. But still speculating.
Anyhow, there's quite a lot of stuff going on in PSLInsertGuide. I have no idea what that function does, but it seems weird to me that EPS files would have guides at all (PostScript has no such concept!), though of course postscript files (and Photoshop EPS files, and Photoshop PSD files) might very well. If you figure out what file it is, determining if there's something strange with guides in it might be helpful.
As for your screenshot...it's tough to know what's necessarily relevant. The complaints about scripting additions are presumably because you have a non-Intel version of some Quark scripting addition installed. You can certainly try removing it, but I'd be surprised if it helped.
malloc() failing is fascinating, especially correlating as it does with your hang report. malloc() is the routine C programs call to allocate memory dynamically. Anywhere from a few bytes to much much more. If malloc() fails badly enough to log to the console, I would have expected it to crash the program hard, rather than just sitting there spinning between 11:37:42 and 11:39:40. There's no accounting for taste.
malloc() is calling mmap(), a routine which controls the relationship between virtual memory pages and...other things. It's apparently doing so with a size of 802 megabytes, which is the sort of thing that's not expected to work and probably indicates a bug. And it gets back error code 12, which is:
    $ grep 12 /usr/include/sys/errno.h
    #define ENOMEM   12           /* Cannot allocate memory */
    Not a shocker.
Anyhow, there's some food for thought.

  • Photoshop CS5 Exit Code 7 Unable to get root from inChildPath

I downloaded the trial version 32 bit and 64 bit, to my desktop (Core I7 3.2 GHZ, 12Gb ram, Win XP Pro 64) and when installing, it doesn't get past 0%, just spits out this:
    0 fatal errors, 1 error, 0 warning
Error: Unable to get root from inChildPath
Exit Code:7 Unable to complete silent workflow
I wanted to see if the install files were bad, some I copied to my craptop, which runs Vista 32 bit, and it works fine. Any word yet on what causes this error? Going to check and see if I missed any updates while I wait to see if anyone's had this issue.

Using your links, I can find Adobe's listing for error code 7, but all it tells me is that exit code 7 does not define my problem, but the lines that follow exit code 7 do. Which is the "unable to get root from inChildPath" bit. I might have missed something in your post, but when I poke around the links in the document, and in Adobe's troubleshooting search feature, I can't find anything about the terms "root from inChildPath".
Here's a recap of everything I tried yesterday, note that each error is exactly the same:
At the day's beginning, I had Adobe Master Suite CS4 installed, including PS CS4.
Without un-installing, I attempted to install Photoshop CS5 Trial > Got the error
Copied PS CS5 files to laptop, which also has Master Suite CS4 > Installed fine
Uninstalled Photoshop from Master Suite, then installed PS CS5 > Got the error
Tried to install only 64 bit > Got error
Did "Run As", signed in as admin > Got error
Booted into Safe Mode to install to see if a background process was conflicting > Got error
Reinstalled Master Suite for 6 hours and quit trying...

  • CS5: "Exit Code: 7" ad nauseam (XP SP3)

    Hi,
I spent quite some time reading all the available stuff related to the annoying Exit Code 7 installation bug.
However, whatever I tried (and I did try a lot) was of no avail.
    I'll recap what I experienced:
First of all, a couple of weeks ago, I got my hands on a new Toshiba notebook with a freshly installed W7 Pro x64.
Except for the current Flash player and AIR no Adobe software had been installed. I did an trial installation of Photoshop CS5 which worked perfectly.
    No problems whatsoever, neither afterwards.
Now, I wanted to install 3 apps of the Master Collection on an older notebook with Windows XP SP3.
This notebook meets the minimal system requirements (processor, RAM, HD space...). Currently, merely the latest Flash player is installed, no other Adobe programs. The internal XP Firewall is active, but no other measures are taken, i.e. no Antivirus program. I read about issues concerning Font Management tools: none either.
There is one difference between the W7 x64 installation and the above mentioned XP installation:
The Windows directory which defaults to "C:\WINDOWS" is "C:\XP" for the XP installation. (Does this have an impact on the CS5 installation routine?)
I carried out several tests now (as a user with administrative rights):
Launching 1 (Photoshop) to 3 (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Photoshop) programs as trial versions, aborts with Exit Code: 7 - Unable to complete Silent workflow
Launching the Dreamweaver CS5 Trial Version (german), aborts with Exit Code: 7 - Unable to complete Silent workflow
The first error entry line, which is repeated twice, reads: ERROR: Unable to locate folder for token UserDocuments
Manually executed and installed the .msi files within the Microsoft_* directories beforehand, then starting the installation: same problem
I meticulously cleaned the XP notebook (Add/Remove programs, then Common Files, then Adobe Products Cleaner, and CCleaner) prior to each new attempt but no way. It doesn't matter which user (built-in Administrator or not) is logged in.
This is the worst installation mess I've experienced for years! None of the tips in the other thread seem to help.
I'm at my wits' end now. Hasn't anyone figure out the cause of the problem yet?
    Greetings,
    Karl

this is driving me nuts tooo!!!
