CS5 - Suggestions and a plea to Adobe

I don't know where else to post this but I would definitely want to ask Adobe for consideration in fixing a couple of annoying issues with CS5.
1. Please please get CS5 suite to use native Windows 7 UI. You do it on OSX and I don't understand why we can't get a native feel in Windows 7.
2. Please let's get Flash CS5 ui hardware accelerated and improve multi-monitor support for more then 2 monitors. I have 3 monitors in my work environment and I always have issues with windows not working properly as my save dialog boxes more often than not appear on my other monitors instead of my primary one.
3. Please don't just pump out releases. Test and re-test release before it's available. I mean I appreciate every improvement that comes in new release but it really doesnt' do a lot when you release versions that mess up things that worked previously.
4. Please fix the damn Flash sound classes so onComplete events and other things work. I've had to do so many workarounds to work with sounds because simple onComplete event wasn't triggering on mp3 files.
5. PLEASE PLEASE, get CS5 to utilize Windows 7 features and optimizations (such as when multiple documents are open in apps to utilize the new Win7 smart-taskbar) and make dialog boxes (like Save and Open and so on) actually use the system one and not yours. I mean windows 7 has a great way of organizing quick folder links on the left in dialog boxes and when I have to manually go to specific folders each time because Adobe apps don't have it, makes it really counter productive.
6. I don't know if it's too late or not but can we please get Flash CS5 and other apps beside Photoshop/AE/Premier to use multi-threading and 64bit. I mean what's the purpose of all of us having multi-core super fast processors these days when only 3 apps use multi-threading. And it's really important for Flash as well especially if users work on animations including videos and audio and stuff within the IDE.
I'm sure others would add their things in here too, but I just hope that someone from Adobe reads this from a faitful user.

I tried it with a simple pre-built template, and didn't have any effect - you mentioned in the video you were going to assign each to some pre-built corresponding css files... did they already have additional attributes in them not highlighted in the video? First thing I would suggest is to upgrade your server OS to a newer version if possible. Secondly try removing the apps out of the allowable apps list and instead change it so that you allow the apps that are within the specific application folder, ex: Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5
I had similar problems with CS5 apps and by adding the apps by allowable folder instead it corrected my problem. Granted, if you have savvy users, there is the potential to open a can of worms here but it was the only way I could get it to work for "standard" non-admin user types.

Since you've shown us the folder contents it's a good bet it isn't in use (no lock file). And it doesn't look like the file is mis-named as there doesn't seem to be anything else there that would be the .indd file (but just in case, open it in TextEdit and paste the first few lines here so we can see what the file header says), so the most likely case is the file is damaged. Is that on a removable device of some sort?
You can try the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X or send me a link to the file by private message and I'll try the recovery tool I have for Windows.

To elaborate a bit, you may come across offers of a new/unopened/unregistered version, which is the simplest case (you would need a guarantee). Other cases require much detailed information (and a guarantee).
If upgrading to 10.6.8 or higher is an option, you could use CS6.

Installing Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 and PhotoShop 5.5 on windows 2008 R2 SP1 using Terminal services

Hi All,
Is it possible to install Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 and PhotoShop 5.5 on windows 2008 R2 SP1 using Terminal services. We are planning to use xenapp to publish these application.
Please let me know if this is a supported environment.

As far as I know you will NOT be able to access OpenGL functionality through Terminal Services. as the OpenGL implementation provided in that environment is software, version 1.1 - not GPU-accelerated.
I seem to recall there was a thread about a year ago here where someone was trying to do what you are asking. I vaguely remember they were able to make it work, but I'm not sure. You might try doing a search of this forum.

Clarification: this is a user forum; you are not addressing Adobe here.
The answer to your question as phrased is: never.
CS5 is history and it is not longer supported. There will not be any updates or bug fixes for CS5.
You need to convert the raw NEF files from your D810 to raw DNGs using the free, standalone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 RC (beta), the first version ever to support that camera..

Please check the list yourself and co,mare the necessary CR version with the one your version of Photoshop utilizes.
If the version os higher than yours you can use the free DNG Converter – as to how to use it please read up on that.

Currently on my Mac, I need to be running Java 7.65 for work-related stuff. I went to the Java site, but could not find anything that simply says "Java SE 6 runtime" ... Or, is there another way to get CS5 up and running with my recent Yosemite download?

No, I can't go that route. I have to stick with my current Java 7.65 ... Our IT department said just to download SE6 Runtime separately ... If I was understanding that correctly. Or, can you have two different versions of Java running ... 6 ... and 7.65?

New and changed features in Adobe Media Encoder CS5

Someone said on the Premiere Pro forum that they didn't know what was new and changed in AME CS5. So I wrote this:

I would like to also add that AME CS5 does a much better job at deinterlacing than CS4, the resulting files are much sharper, especially with text/titles.

Still flickering on Encore even when rendered in MPEG-2 DVD in Pemiere Pro CS5.5. Looks perfect in Premiere Pro.

I think it's just a little over $200 if you don't have an older version to upgrade. Around $100 if you do.

Nobody can tell you that. CS2 activation was turned off because of bugs in the software that made it too difficult to maintain. so far no such thing has been the case with the otehr versions. Either way, if and when that time comes surely Adobe will let you know and provide a solution...
