CS5 trial has stopped working

CS5 trial does let me download the programme but when I open a photo on screen (which does open) I then get a box that informs me that  - "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" My son installed the program and this is the first time that I have had time to play with it so I don't know if it was working when he first installed it - thanks for help

Another possibility is that your video drivers need updating.  Visit the web site of the maker of your video card to get the latest.

    Hello!
I've had the student version of the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium software for several years now.
When I received my Windows 8 computer I installed the software with no issue.
Last week when I tried opening Photoshop I get the following error: "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 has stopped working.A problem caused by the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I deactivated and uninstalled the entire Creative Suite then reinstalled it. I am able to open the other programs, but still receive the same message for Photoshop.
    What can I do?

I found the issue was with the Nik Filters I was using. The filters were messing with Photoshop's initializing. I uninstalled and reinstalled the filters and now Photoshop works like a charm.
It appears this forum is dead?!
Thankfully, I was able to troubleshoot on my own and figured out the problem...

  • "Adobe Media Core CS5.5 has stopped working"

Whenever I try to encode using the Quicktime-H.264 codec in Adobe Media Encoder, I get a crash that states "Adobe Media Core CS5.5 has stopped working". Also I have tried to encode using this codec directly within Premiere Pro with the "Export" button instead of the "Queue" button, but the encode doesn't progress and eventually locks up the application. I have downloaded the most current version of Quicktime, and have made sure that all of my Adobe products are up-to-date. Encoding with other Quicktime codecs such as "Animation" work, but the h.264 just will not.
What has me confused is that we just upgraded to new computers and did a clean install of CS5.5. Encoding with this codec works just fine on the old machines. Below you will see my system info as well as the error "Problem Signature". Any help to resolve this issue?

I'm getting the exact same problem on a similar but older system.  I've reinstalled quicktime, and I'm about to reinstall CS6. Have you had any luck in getting this resolved?
Edit: I finally called Adobe support about it, and they seemed geniunely stumped as well.

  • 'InDesign CS5.5 has stopped working'

I get this message when I open some InDesign files: 'InDesign CS5.5 has stopped working'. After this I have to close InDesign. How can I stop it from doing this?

Holly, did you search for the whole path, or did you look inside the Users folder for your account? I'd expect it'd look something like this:
    C:\Users\Holly\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe InDesign Version 5.5\English
Because we don't know how your computer is set up, you'd need to use the paths that Manish posted to figure out where your versions of these files are located.
I think I've found the InDesign recovery folder but where do I move it to?
I think that if you just move it away from that location to another place where you can find it easily if you ever need to find it and put it back where it came from (for example, your desktop) then that would probably be enough.

  • Illustrator CS5.1 has stopped working

    Hi,
I just bought CS 5.5 and am having a lot of issues with Illustrator.  I was working on a drawing and I was able to save it until I tried to change the colors on my lines and now everytime I try to save it the program says Adobe Illustrator CS 5.1 has stopped working and that windows is going to close the program.  I am also having issues with certain documents, which when I try to print them the print dialogue box won't even show up.  I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program but it didn't fix any of the issues.
Any ideas on what the problem could be or how to fix it?  I really appreciate any help!

First of all I would try and trash the Preferences.
Then check your printers, printer drivers and connection.
    Also check your fonts.
And you might want to browse the Knowledgebase for help https://www.adobe.com/support/illustrator/

  • Adobe InDesign CS5.5 Has Stopped Working

    Hello,
I am new to InDesign as have been using PageMaker for years.
I have just installed a Trial Version of CS 5.5 and am trying to open an InDesign document which was created by my friend. InDesign crashed when trying to open the document, it gave me the following error messages:
    C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Temp\WER732E.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
    C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Temp\WER8BFC.tmp.appcompat.txt
    C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Temp\WER8F95.tmp.mdmp
I have no idea what do these error messages mean. I have tried several times and the same messages came up.
And now, when I opened CS5.5, it gave me the error messages right away. The only differences of the errors are the WER numbers.
    Any suggestions/comments are much appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Something is really strange.
    Hi Peter,
Out of curiosity, I tried to convert my original PageMaker document myself with my ID 7.5.3 Trial (I couldn't do it myself in the past, that's why I sent it to one of my friends, who has ID to do it), and I was able to convert the PM file into ID file, with only two font errors. The whole ID file looks fine to me.
Another strange thing is that those two missing fonts are in my PC (I am using Windows 7 Pro, and I created the PM file using its XP Mode with PageMaker). When I highlighted the texts that have the msising fonts, ID did show the correct fonts in its Text Identifier box and those fonts also are in the Font Menu (under the Type tab) of my ID.
I don't know if that's because I have rebooted my system overnight or not (I didn't reboot after updated to 7.5.3 since it didn't ask me to).
It seems that my ID has the mind of its own, sometimes it wants to work properly, sometimes not.
Very strange indee, don't you think?

  • I NEED HELP, PLEASEEE! *(Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 has stopped working..)*

this keeps popping up everytime I try to load or start a new image into Photoshop.
    Any suggestions?

REALLY!??  Don't think that's the issue?  I just bought a brand new ACER quad core desktop TODAY, and downloaded CS5 twice, and keep getting the exact same error message each time I try to start a new file, or open an image.  Has to be something wrong with the download, as it could hardly be a problem with the video card on a brand new system.
REALLY.  It's a bit naive to think a new computer could have no bugs.  But you can check yourself:
First, determine what video card do you have in that system, and what display driver version you're running.
Now go to the web site of the maker of the video card, follow their links to driver downloads, and see whether the driver you're running is the latest version they offer for your hardware and OS.
Assuming it's not (and it's almost CERTAINLY not), ask yourself why they would release an updated display driver if not to fix bugs.
I know it must be frustrating to have new gear and see it fail, but take the advice of the people here.  Display driver updates fix many bugs.

  • Branched: 'InDesign CS5.5 has stopped working'

This problem has suddenly become epidemic.  It happens to me now every half hour or so --- for the past two weeks or so.  Even when I merely have ID CS5 running in the background.  It seems to happen to all kinds of files: one I created in CS5.5 on another computer then downgraded via IDML back to CS5, others that I created in this CS5 program, others that I imported from CS4 for updating.
It seems very apparent that this is some external conflict, not an error in the way users are manipulating ID CS5 files.

Its pretty strange that on both the machine it is crashing which have different OS and different version of the Indesign...
As peter said you can collect the crash log from Dr.watson ,
under Windows, hit Windows-R and paste in “%AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson” and then open DRWTSN32.LOG. Windows just keeps adding new crash logs to that file, so go to the end and search backwards for “App: ” and make sure you’ve got the correct crash (InDesign.exe).
Also can you check in teh selective startup , is there any other application that may be conflicting.:- http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html

I have tried a few searches on this forum but cant seem to navigate the search engine to find anything... This is a brand new system build so I may not have win7 tweaked properly? My legally licensed CS6 has stopped working and reverted to trial mode.  I paid a bundle for this and don't care to pay more to keep the software I legally own.  There seems to be no customer support for this anymore, what do I do?
The only answers I found were things like:
Upgrade to CC or You're out of luck.
    This is not okay.
    Please Help!

"Similar" problem here. I have bought a new PC, and want to install my precious CS5.5 to the new system.
All I get is an "illegal serial number" message. Even though I deactivated on the old pc and even though I copy the serial (for the pc version) from my official products page (or whatever that page is called)...
That's when the ordeal started to get someone at Adobe to figure out what is wrong.
No voice support for my "old" version. 2011? Old? Come on?!
The chat support is a Turin test, with no solution whatsoever.
The websites linked to in the final "chat" lines which should answer my questions are utterly useless.
So last attempt: I try overhere... and add my questions to you, OP...
Note that the only way in which I can get a fast human reply is by calling the number for buying the new CC! Shame on you Adobe!

  • AAM has stopped working (Win 7 (64bit) preventing installation of PSE 13 trial

I have been trying to install the trial version of PSE13 without success. The download appears ok and I can get up to "Sign In Required". If I proceed, Window 7 (64bit) indicates that AAM has stopped working and will close the program. No error messages. I have downloaded both AAM 8.0 and PSE13 twice to no avail. I had an old download for the PSE 12 trial which goes through to install ok.

    My scenario and history:
Windows Vista Ultimate and now Windows 7 Ultimate
NVidia Quadro Fx 4500 driving 4 monitors total SLi on or off - makes no difference.  Drivers irrelevant.
    2 x Xeon 5160 (so total 4 cores)
    24Gb RAM
    PS CS 4 or 5
4 monitors - - yep it is the 4 monitor thing.
    Fails everytime as you describe.
Observation - If you Remote Desktop Connection onto the computer - and so in effect are using only ONE monitor - PS works fine.
A WORKAROUND for 4 or 5 - I don't consider this a fix because you lose some functionality but it gets you 99% there and is the same workaround for CS4 or 5
    Go to<drive>:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64bit)\Plug-ins\Extensions\    (or CS4 - depending on version)
    Locate File:
    ScriptingSupport.8li
Disable this extension by renaming the file with a tilde in front of the file name.  Thus:
    ~ScriptingSupport.8li
Start Photoshop - it works and is mainly functional.
The only real downside I have discovered is that disabling this scripting extension means you cannot use some of the built in scripts under FILE - SCRIPTS - the biggest PIA for me being the Contact Sheet builder no longer works.  But as I now use Lightroom to create contact sheets - this is not a big loss.  Other scripting functionality - I am sure is affected - but not to a point I find PS unusable.
ADOBE - if you read this - it has been that extesion now for the last two editions of PS.

  • Photoshop CS5 has stopped working and shuts down

I purchased Photoshop CS5 in March 2011 and after trying to install software I was unable to do anything in Photoshop without getting the following error message:  "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working".  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.  I was unable to open any psd file or new file withouth that error message.  After you close that error message window, Photoshop immediately closes down. I had someone from Adobe remotely fix this problem.  Now it is appearing again and I am unable to use the program.  I need help with this.  Please.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working (Win 7, 64 bit)

I am trying to run Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 64bit. Everytime I open the program, I get an error saying "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working", immediately after the splash screen goes away and the main gui opens. The only option on the error is "Close Program".
I am on a computer with an i7 processor and 12GB of memory. I have two Nvidia GTS 250 video cards, running four monitors.
Over the course of the last day, I have reformatted my computer, and reinstalled Windows twice. I have reinstalled the CS5 Master Suite more times than I can remember. I have also downloaded and installed the latest video card drivers from Nvidia.
I continue to have the same problem every time I try to open any of the programs in the CS5 suite.
The only time I have come close to getting it to work was immediately after installing the new Nvidia drivers, before restarting my computer. I was able to open it one time without it crashing, Once I restarted my computer, Photoshop continued to give me the same error every time I try to open it.
I have no other software installed on my computer. It is a brand new installation of Windows 7.
I have been on the phone with Adobe technical suuport for about an hour and a half, and I have yet to get a single suggestion other than attempting an install with my network cable unplugged. Other than that, they seem to be fond of transfering me back and forth between departments (and asking me to repeat all of my information every time).
As you can probably tell, I am very frustrated at this point and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Trevor

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working [Issue]

Hello everyone! I recently just purchased Adobe CS5 as being very excited as I've been a customer before the CS series! Anyways, the install and registration with Adobe was no problem what so ever, I got to uninstall CS4 quite easily, it all worked. So, I've read the other topic of "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working" and this is not my problem! However, once I'm in CS5. I do a couple things, zoom in Navigation, enter some text, move a couple layers and it tells me it has stopped working. This is happening very often every so 1-3 minutes, so I've been living with it for about 2 days (IT has FINALLY passed the line, where I rip my hair out! Hehe, ). So now I'm deciding I post the problem!
    Computer Specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x86
Intel Pentium Dual Core 3.20GHz (OC)
    ATi Radeon HD 4670
    3GB DDR2

After work.. I will be upgrading video card drivers to see if this makes a difference, only solution related to my topic in Adobe FAQs.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working

I have Windows 7 I just installed Adobe photoshop CS5 Extended. It starts fine but when I start to open a picture I get the message
Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working windows will shut it down.
Any ideas of what the problem is.

Mylenium, why do you feel there is a need to run the first time as Administrator?  Do you know of install failures that would leave files or registry entries with improper permissions?  I've not been hearing of this behavior with the new versions; certainly Photoshop has known about Windows' UAC feature for quite a long time.
Rjleys, I suggest that you try (before opening an image) going into Edit - Preferences - Performance and disabling the [ ] Use OpenGL Drawing setting.   Close and restart Photoshop after making this change.
If this works around the problem, you should update your video drivers from the web site of the manufacturer of your video card.  It may be that the OpenGL operations Photoshop is trying to perform may be causing a fault in your drivers, resulting in an applilcation crash.
What kind of video card do you have?
Here are the links to the driver update pages for the two big video card makers:
