CS5 Trial with WinXP64 and GTX260 no hardware acceleration?

Hi everyone!
I can't get hardware acceleration in the PS CS5 Extended trial version I just installed on my work machine.
I have a Windows XP 64bit machine, with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 graphics card.
I installed the trial version of PS CS5.  Under Preferences>Performance, the GPU Settings area is grayed out. The description says that graphics hardware acceleration is unavailable.  "You will need to upgrade your video driver and possibly your video card."
I know the GTX 260 is supported- it works fine on my home machine, which is Win7.
I installed the latest nvidia drivers, version 197.45.  No change.  I even uninstalled the nvidia drivers, did a clean of the drivers in safe mode with Driver Sweeper, as per another post here, and reinstalled the latest nvidia drivers.  Still no change.
Any ideas?  Is it because I'm running winxp64?
Thanks so much for your help!

hardware acceleration now available!  Will play around with it to see how it works!
awesome, thank you.

  • Is Adobe CS5 compatible with CS3 and Dreamweaver 8 files

    All,
We have eight users that are using CS3 (Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat 8) plus Dreamweaver Studio 8 on Windows XP Pro 32-bit.  Two of these users are moving to Windows 7 64-bit.  We don't have it in the budget to upgrade all 8 users.  Will Adobe CS5 Premium files (particularly InDesign and Dreamweaver) work with CS3 and Dreamweaver 8 files?
    Thanks

InDesign absolutely NOT! InDesign can only save back one version.
But...CS3 runs just fine on Win7 64 bit.
I'm not sure about what issues you'll have with Dreamweaver.
Please post followups in the InDesign and Dreamweaver forums.

  • Can i use Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 (trial) with DVD Architect Studio 5.0?

    Hi,
Going to download the trial version of Premiere Pro CS5 and After effects. I found out that their is no trial of the Adobe Encore so if i made a video could i use DVD Architect Studio 5.0 to do what Encore would of done if their was a trial version. Please say if there is anything out there that is better than DVD Architect Studio 5.0.
    Thanks

finally I got it to work!
So if anyone has troubles with importing .m4v files into DVD Architect,
export settings in premiere should be changed from "Main profile" instead
    of "High".
it seems that it imports only the audio to timeline and no video coming with. Now, when i try to set video track by the m4v file, popup message says that the selected file is not of the required type.
anyone knows what export settings should I use?
so change .m4v to mp4 and import. it works now.

  • X-fi xtrememusic showing up as emulated (plus annoying hissing with music and gam

My x-fi has recently started to exhibit an annoying hissing while playing music (though strangely not with WMP) and in games. I usually use foobar 2000 for music, and I can escape the hissing with the kernel streaming plugin. As kernel streaming works I'm led to believe that it's not a hardware problem, but I'm not sure that it's driver related because my integrated audio produces the same hissing. Both show up as "emulated" in dxdiag and in foobar's output devices selection window. The only recent hardware-related thing I have done is remove a modem driver (it was physically removed long ago) because the modem kept showing up as a sound device in foobar (noted as "emulated" ).
This is what foobar shows me (the dedicated sound device is my x-fi): http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/596/emulatedxfidm5.png
Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Uninstalling and cleaning then reinstalling the drivers did nothing. It still shows up as emulated and I still get the audio issues. Disabling audio acceleration does nothing either.
After scouring these forums, I came across this post that seems to mirror what I have done: http://forums.creative.com/creativel....id=2607#M2607
I removed a modem a long time ago to free up pci slots, but the driver never got uninstalled until last Wednesday, which is when this problem started.... I'll see if I can find the modem and hope for the best.
YES!!!!! Reinstalling the modem and settling its hardware acceleration to full fixed everything!

  • Blurry text with hardware acceleration enabled.

    Hi, Firefox folks.
My text (and edges of tabs) were blurry in Firefox 4.0.1 (32-bit), running on Windows 7 64-bit, with a Radeon HD 6670 with latest drivers: Catalyst 11.5, May 9, 2011. (I have no text problems at all with the latest Chrome or Internet Explorer 9.)
The problem immediately disappeared when I went to Firefox's Tools menu --> Options --> Advanced tab --> General subtab, and unchecked "Use hardware acceleration when available."
[I've edited out a "tip" of mine that I thought was working, but actually wasn't.]
I don't know how this will affect Firefox's speed, but at least I can properly read the text now.
I didn't have to disable Firefox 4.0.1 hardware acceleration with my old NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (which I was using on the same PC a few days ago), so this might be (at least partly) an AMD/ATI problem; I've notified them about this already.
So, either AMD/ATI needs to issue a patch, or Mozilla does, or both. Just thought you should know. Thanks for your time.

  • How do I disable the hardware acceleration in Flash player on a Windows XP machine remotely?

How do I disable the hardware acceleration in Flash player on a Windows XP machine remotely?
I have a few hundred computers running Adobe Flash Player.
The operation system is Windows XP.
They are Compaq 6005 desktop PC’s, with an inbuilt ATI radeon HD 4200 video card.
We have a persistent issue where viewing a flash video (e.g. something on youtube) causes the video card driver to crash.  You are left with no video signal to the monitor.  Audio continues and the computer still responds to commands. This only happens when watching flash video.
    We have tried:
    Updating flash plugin (numerous versions)
Updating the video card drivers (we have tried the last three video card driver versions, including the HP drivers and ATI drivers)
Updating the browsers (this problem happens with IE8/9 and Firefox10/11/12)
There seems to be two ways to work round this issue.  One is to disable the video acceleration in the ‘troubleshoot’ section in the advanced part of the display settings area in windows.  The other way is to start a flash video, right click, go to ‘settings’ and untick the box marked ‘Enable Hardware Acceleration’.
Doing either of these things allows the user to view flash videos with no apparent issues.
Is there a way to disable the hardware acceleration in Flash without visiting the PC?  Perhaps an undocumented option in the mms.cfg file? I understand that you can use an option to skip the video card check, and so force hardware acceleration on, can you do the opposite?
    Thanks in advance
    Daniel.

    Hi.
I have had over 200 views, and no suggestions as to how this could be fixed.
I have also posted in the general flash forum, that thread has fewer views.
If I should put this question in a different forum please let me know which one.
If what I am asking is not possible is there a mechanism for escalating this issue or requesting a feature for the next version of flash?
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3 - Video Hardware Acceleration Warning

I have been looking for an answer for this error for a few days without any luck.
I just loaded the Adobe Free Encoder 3 and the Flash Media Server (Free Version) on a Dell PowerEdge 1950 running Windows 2003 server standard edition with Service Pack 2.  The computer has an Intel Pentium III Xeon 2.66GHz Quad core processor with 4GB RAM.  I am using an Osprey 240 video capture card.
The computer was previously running Windows Media Encoder and it was working fine, but I needed to upgrade to a flash stream.
Whenever I start the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder I get the following error:
"The video card's hardware acceleration level is set too low.  Open the Display Properties, Settings tab and click Advanced, then select the Troubleshoot tab and increase the Hardware acceleration setting.  Then restart the application, etc...
I did as instructed and it did not work. I also tried changing the display settings to lower and higher resolutions.  I also updated the video card to the latest drivers.  I double checked the hardware requirements.  http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/flashmediaencoder/systemreqs/ and it looks like I'm ok.
I also checked the approved hardware list http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flashmediaencoder/FMLE_DeviceMatrix3.0.pdf.
The Osprey 240 is not listed, but that seems to be working fine.
I'm thinking that the internal video card that I have may not be compatible with the Adobe Encoder.  The video card that I have is an ATI ES1000 embedded video that has only 16MB of RAM.
I have the latest version of DirectX - I ran DxDiag and it shows that I'm running DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904),  Under the Display tab it says that the DirectDraw Acceleration, Direct3D Acceleration and AGP Acceleration are not available.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Anthony

  • FMLE 3.1 Osprey 440 Video Hardware Acceleration Warning

    Hello,
I have FMLE running on Windows 2003 Server with an Osprey 440 video capture card. Everytime I run FMLE, i get the following message:
    "Video Hardware Acceleration Warning"
"The video card's hardware acceleration level is set too low. Open the Display Properties, Settings tab and click Advanced, then select the Troubleshoot tab and increase the Hardware acceleration setting. Please restart the application after changing the Hardware Acceleration."
I see no where to do this on the Osprey Config. Has anyone else had this issue? Any solutions out there?
    Thanks,
    Keith

    1. right click on desktop>properites>
    2. In Display properties>Setting tab, click on Advanced button
    3. Select Troubleshoot tab, drag Hardware Acceleration to High.

  • Mercury Playback Engine: software accel only for 5K Retina iMac, when would Adobe enable hardware acceleration???

Just curious when Adobe might be updating Premiere Pro CC list of support graphics cards for hardware accelaration.
The iMac 5K Retina has an optional upgraded AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5 graphics card.
But this is apparently what happens in Premiere Pro CC when you start the program on an iMac Retina 5K with that graphics card: the hardware acceleration option is greyed out.

Looking at this, it doesn't seem that the Retina MacBook Pro's NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M is on the list. And the NVIDIA CUDA driver will give you nothing but heartache (a frequent source of kernel panics).
You might want to take your question to the Adobe Premiere discussion boad to see if there are any current 'workarounds' -> http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere.

  • How do I enable hardware acceleration in an air exe?

I have a Stage3d game compiled as a windows bundle (exe) using adt -target bundle. Users download it from Steam and have no idea it's even running Adobe AIR.
The problem is that if the user has manually disabled hardware acceleration in Firefox, it will also be disabled in my game. In these cases, context3d.driverInfo will say "Hw_disabled=userDisabled". If they open Firefox, right-click on a flash animation, open the security settings box and check "enable hardware acceleration", it will start working on my Adobe AIR game too. (note this isn't on all systems - I can't recreate the problem myself)
I would love to pop open the display tab of the security panel for them right in my game:
    Security.showSettings(Security.DISPLAY);
But that command doesn't work in AIR, it only works in browser plugins.
Explaining to users how to enable hardware acceleration in FF, IE, Safari etc seems like a terrible, confusing solution.
    Any better ideas?
(also, I think this might be a bug? can anyone point me to documentation saying firefox & air should share settings like this? I went to report it but the bug tracker's down as usual: http://bugs.adobe.com/flex/)

I found the correct/new link for the bugbase: https://bugbase.adobe.com
and posted this issue as bug 3843535:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3843535
It seems to be an unfortunately common problem which I would love to find a workaround for if anyone has any ideas. This would be easier if I could recreate it myself...

  • Firefox + Flash freeze before I can right-click to disable Hardware Acceleration

I've been searching a lot about this.
On my PC (latest version of Flash and Firefox as of 9/2014) my Firefox becomes unusable when Flash runs.
The general procedure to fix this issue is to load a Flash test page, right click on it, go to Settings, and then uncheck Hardware Acceleration.
    (As explained in this link:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keep-flash-up-to-date-and-troubleshoot-problems#w_playing-flash-videos-makes-firefox-hang)
I am completely unable to even right click on a Flash object. It freezes. I have read another article about disabling mic/speakers, and that doesn't work.
I'm hoping there are registry/mozilla settings I can change that mimic the "right click.. uncheck Hardware Acceleration."

    '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web link}
    While you are in safe mode;
Type '''about:preferences''' in the address bar and press enter
    Select '''Advanced > General.'''
Look for and turn off '''Use Hardware Acceleration'''.
Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
    Then restart.

  • MPE layer bug(s) - GTX 480 and CS5 trial

    Hi All,
Due to some strange MPE-PPro behaviour, I am now having some last minute doubts about whether to jump up to a full version of the production suite - or perhaps wait for a .1 patch.
Please advise if any of you can spot where the cause of these problems might lie...
These are fairly easy-to-repeat MPE-related bugs in the trial version of PPro CS5, so far I have found issues both with scaling and when duplicating clips to new layers.
Current hardware is as follows (will be looking for a new i7-920/X58 mobo combo if CS5 is purchased)
    Mobo- Asus Striker Extreme
    CPU - QX6700 C2Q@ 2.66Hz
    RAM 4G
    Win7 Pro x64
So for testing purposes, I have "enabled" MPE using a GTX 480 and all seems fine for basic cuts-only or opacity fades on multiple layers. The bugs I have found seem to be related to adding more than 2 effects (even on just a few short clips...)
    Scenario 1:
    1) DV clip on layer 1, second DV clip on layer 2 scaled to 25% and positioned top left corner. Yellow line - playback behaviour is OK so far.
    2) With MPE enabled, if I add some fast CC to layer 2 clip then the footage plays back as though scaling is reset to 100% (although the slider still shows 25%)
    3) Switch from MPE to SW preview and the clip correctly returns to 25% scale (still with CC applied). Switch back and the scaling is again lost.
    Scenario 2:
    1) DVCPRO 1080 25p clip on layer 1, duplicated to layer 2 with a gaussian blur and 15% opacity (creates a basic glow effect).  Yellow line - playback behaviour is OK so far. Repeat for a second clip on to layers 3&4 with a simple opacity fade-up at start on each, overlaying the last few secs of 1&2 for the length of the fade.
    2) With MPE enabled, layers 3&4 only show when the layer 1&2 clip has reached the out point, ie the fade up on layer3&4 is "ignored" and the second clip only cuts in when the first clip has reached the out point. All the time with a Yellow line.
    3) Switch from MPE to SW preview and everything works as it should (after preview render is generated of course).
So my questions are, can anyone with a GTX 285 or (certified) Quadro repeat either of these bugs? Am I better to wait until the GTX 480 is officially certified in a few months (possibly including a patch) or is there another cause elsewhere in my current hardware?
MPE is really nice (in theory at least) but it worries me that it fails to calculate opacity occlusion and scaling correctly for such relatively simple sequences.
    Any suggestions/opinions/comments welcome!
    Cheers,
    Dave.
    Broader Pictures

    Hi Harm,
I've created a fresh test project and recreated a timeline similar to scenaio 1 (sticking to DV to rule out demanding codec issues)...
Here's the OK intial version of the timeline:
LAYER4: PIP clip scaled to 25% pos. top left, no other effects just an opacity fade-in-out
LAYER3: PIP clip scaled to 25% pos. top right, no other effects just an opacity fade-in-out
LAYER2: PIP clip scaled to 25% pos. bottom right, no other effects just an opacity fade-in-out
LAYER1: Simple clip no scaling full screen (backdrop), fast cc effect w/ default values
Preview bar is yellow and play back is fine with MPE on.
THEN, if I add any other MPE-enabled effect to any layer, the preview goes red and the top-most layer disappears from the preview monitor!
The rendered preview also omits layer 4, as soon as I turn off MPE, the timeline returns to red and layer 4 pops right back on the monitor!
Is this just a trial limitation of the MPE module, rather than restrict the 'extra' effect/layer to render-only you lose it altogether? This just seems a bit of a strange way to promote such an important feature, it certainly hasn't helped me decide on if/when to purchase, or perhaps it has?
    Any more thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Dave.
