CS5 Update Manager keeps trying to install old updates

Yesterday I installed CS5 Master Collection on a replacement computer and used "Check for Updates" in Photoshop to download and install the latest versions. That went fine, but only updated Photoshop to 12.0.4 and Illustrator to 15.0.2. I manually downloaded and installed the PS 12.0.5 and AI 15.0.3 updates and all went well (or so I thought) - PS reports 12.0.5 and Illustrator reports 15.0.3 in their "About" dialogs.
Tonight I found an Adobe Update icon in my tray and clicked it. It tells me it wants to install PS 12.0.4 and AI 15.0.2 (one patch level back on each). I let it run, figuring it would notice that everything was up-to-date. It didn't - it downloaded and tried to install those updates, reporting Update Failed for both. If I check for updates again, I am again offered those two updates.
I found this old thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/714043 which discusses a similar issue with Dreamweaver. I tried deleting the C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0 folder and rebooting as shown in that thread, and it didn't fix the problem - the update manager keeps trying to download and install un-needed and out-of-date updates.
How do I get Update Manager to understand that these updates have already been applied? I don't want to simply disable update checks for these products, as I'll miss any future updates. And I'd rather not deactivate and uninstall all of CS5 Master Collection and reinstall if I don't have to - that seems like using a sledgehammer to squash a mosquito.

I don't want to simply disable update checks for these products, as I'll miss any future updates.
There won't be any. CS5 is now 2.5 years old and nobody goes back to support such old versions anymore when CS7 is knocking on the door. Even the .3 update was only done after heavily misinformed public outcries over that alleged major security whole with certain file types which was an utter non-issue for 90% of the users, anyway....

I have an iMac that I am running OSX 10.8.3 on.  I keep trying to install 10.8.4 but it will not install.  I tried updating and installing several times and it restarts the computer but it will not install the software.  My machine is about 8 months old so, it's in the newish range.  HELP!

Sometimes the App Store version doesn't work correctly. In this case, install 10.8.4 with the Combo version > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
The Combo installer is the safest way to update OS X, and it allows you to update more than one computer with a single download

  • Roxio Media Manager - It keeps trying to install itself

    Hi Everyone,
Roxio Media Manager continuosly tries to install itself and it won't go away.  I tried to uninstall it but a window pops up that states Windows Installer is running.  I tried to force quit the installer and/or Roxio, but I don't see anything in the processes panel.
I tried running registry cleaners, tried an aftermarket uninstaller program... nothing has worked.  What's worse, the Windows Installer window keeps popping up and interrupts everything I'm trying to do on the computer.  I can't even let it go in the background and ignore it.
Not only that, but it is also bogging down the processor immensly.
Everywhere I look on the internet, people keep suggesting a windows clean up utility from the Microsoft site, but that download is no longer available (apparently it too was causing problems)
The only other suggestion was http://forums.techarena.in/windows-xp-support/898890.htm and recommended that I download & reinstall "Desktop Manager 5.0.1 B73 Multilanguage with Media Manager", but that file is obsolete now and is no longer on the RIM site.
I'm at a total loss for what to do next.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Rob

  • Error: ' The Update could not be installed (patch apply failed)' . It keeps trying to install this patch but my version is the latest one!!

I have the latest version of firefox. I know this because your website says so. But for some reason, my current firefox keeps trying to install a new version by "trying" to install a patch. But it fails every time.
I cant say exactly when this started. A few weeks ago, firefox was behaving erratically (crashing for no reason at every launch due to some video plugin fail) but i uninstalled and reinstalled (a few times) and it was fine after the last one.

If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.
You can also delete the active-update.xml file.

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Keep trying to install update for itunes and keep getting 'invalid signature'

keep trying to install the new updates for itunes and keep getting 'invalid signature' and it won't download

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • My creative Cloud keeps trying to install the same update

    Dear Forum,
My creative Cloud keeps trying to install the same update and never completes. I have rebooted my windows 8.1 and same occurs. All other updates are fine so just creative cloud.  am I able to manually uninstall just the creative cloud on its own without effecting my acrobat pro and FormsCentral etc? If so where can I download the latest creative cloud?

  • I keep trying to install the latest version of firefox and it's not working

I'm running firefox 3.something, I think, and I keep trying to install the latest version on my mac. I go through saving it, opening it, dragging the icon to my apps file...and when I drag it to my apps file it takes a few seconds to do *something*, pings at me and then...nothing after that. I try to open it and it tells me I have to close firefox first, so I do (restart even) and when it opens again it still opens the old version.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 8.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • Roxio keeps trying to install, have searched forums for answer, need help

    Hello,
About a month ago I bought an 8300 series Curve.  That night I tried installing Desktop Manager with Roxio, had lots of problems, read the forums, and decided against using Roxio.  I unintalled everything (so I thought), and reinstalled Desktop Manager without Roxio.  Everything was fine until this week.  The computer was on but not used for a couple days while I was out of town: upon my return I saw that Roxio was trying to install itself again.  I'm assuming an update was pushed out.  Now, I can't get rid of it.  I have uninstalled Blackberry Desktop software.  I have deleted everything from my computer that has 'Roxio' or 'Sonic' in its name.  I have run my registry tools in System Mechanic Professional.  It still keeps trying to install.  I even tried system restore.  I disabled Windows Installer in msconfig, now it just keeps popping the installer window up and closing it.  I can't download and install the Microsft Installer Cleanup utility mentioned on some forums because either a) I have disabled my installer, or b) when the installer is enabled, I get an error message telling me that another installation (aka the Roxio installation) is already in progress.
Surely, there must be some line in some code somewhere that I can get to and change so I can stop this thing from triggering Roxio to install.  And, how do I clean it off and ban Roxio from ever trying to install anything on my system again?  It's literally like some kind of virus.
    Thanks.

This is an addendum to my previous post:
I somehow was able to sneak in an install of the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility.  But when I went to run it, Roxio or anything related was not listed at all.   So, that was not a good solution.
I tediously went through the entire registry and deleted all references to Roxio.  I re-enabled my Windows Installer.  Now, something keeps trying to install, but never references Roxio anymore.  The Windows Installer window pops up, then disappears.  This happens in spurts now: the window pops up about 3 to 5 times, then stops popping up for a minute or two, then starts again.  There's obviously one more registry reference that doesn't have 'Roxio' in the name.  If anyone knows it and can point me to it, I'd be grateful.
In the meantime, I now have to figure out how to fix the resolution on my monitor.  Obviously deleting some Roxio shared thing affected that, and I can't seem to find the right settings again.  I feel like suing Roxio for the time I wasted today!

I keep trying to install and reinstall itunes but keep getting apple application support not found...how do i fix this?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if Apple Application Support won't install normally.

  • Keeps trying to install build 10041 even though I already have it

My problem is in the title: Windows keeps trying to install flb impressive 10041 core even though I already have it.
    Any help? Thanks!

    Hi,
That's to say, your current Windows 10 already was upgraded to 10041 edition, isn't it?
You can access to the Registry path below and modify the valume: ThresholdOptedin, REG_DWORD, 0
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability
If problem persists, try to rename Applicability to Applicability.old

  • Bing Bar 7.0 (KB2626804) Keeps trying to install itself on my HP and Fails.

Hello, I have upgraded my system to Windows 10 Pro, and ever since it has been trying to install the Bing Bar 7.0 and failing. I dont need it. Dont have it. Didnt have it on my Windows 7 Pro. So I have no idea why it is trying to install it on my system. I have looked everywhere on my computer, and it is not in the programs to be installed. I have even looked in all of my browsers, to make sure that it wasn't hidden in any of those. It isnt. So I did a DxDiag on my system to see what it had to say, and when it uploads and fails, the Diagnosis says: +++ WER2 +++:

  • HT204347 OS X has failed to install and now it asks to restart but it just keeps trying to install and I can't quit it.

OS X has failed to install on my macbook pro and now it keeps trying to install when the computer restarts and I cannot get back to how it was and ditch the upgrade!  Can you tell me how to do this please?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
