CS5 updates fail to install

In the process of updating to Windows 8.1, I've started with a fresh install of CS5 and LR. CS5 installs without problems, but fails to update. It appears to be downloading the updates, but gives the error : "Some updates failed to install", providing a list of all components of CS5. Each component reports "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later". Having tried several times, each with the same result, I contacted adobe customer support using the link provided: Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product" | CS6, CS5.5, CS5"
Adobe support confirmed that there was no problem with the serial or license, and referred me to the forum. The forums do not appear to have a clear solution to this issue. Some updates are available for manual download, but it appears not all of them. I'm not sure why the product update installer is included in CS5 if it is not functional. This seems like a possible case of a broken link for the installer, but there does not seem to be a way to update the installer itself.

I was just referred to the forum as well for the same issue. My serial numbers are verified and registered. I see here that this is the place to go for unanswered questions. I think the main issue here is that Adobe doesn't want to offer support for older products. Likely, Adobe is trying to force us into purchasing the upgraded software. If anyone has found a solution, please feel free to share it with me as well as I have an identical situation.
Adobe offered that I call tech support. Last time I tried to contact adobe via telephone, it took more than a half an hour just to get a rep on the phone and of course their solution was to buy cs6.
Best of luck to ya.

I'm trying to update my Photoshop CS5, but continue to receive the same problem every time. The application manager update dialogue box simply states "some updates failed to install." There's no specific error code, but a link to contact support for further assistance. It doesn't take me to customer support, but does take me to a screen which states. "Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product." I've checked my account and the product serial number is associated with my account., so I don't see any problem.  I have not been able to find a resolution to this problem, so I hope that someone can point me in the right direction.  Thank you!

Adobe CS5 Updates fails !!!  There was an error downloading this update HELP (Windows)

I have the same problem, but I'm on a mac 10.9. I have 2 folders inside the Adobe Patch folder inside the Adobe folder. The items have a bunch of letters and numbers.
I've attempted 2 downloads, each going through almost the whole process and stopping about 90% saying unable to install, fix the problems listed below (there was an error downloading this update, please quit and try again later). When I click on the consumer support for further assistance, it takes me to an Adobe page that says “This serial number is not for a qualifying product. Please try another” .  I have CS4  design premium, CS5 design standard, and Acrobat Professional installed.

  • Some updates failed to install

I have CS5 and when I try to update, I get "Some updates failed to install."  If I click on Contact Customer support, it comes up with "Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product..." when installing an upgrade or upsell.  I have had this software for 4 years and until 2 weeks ago not had a problem with updating.  Any suggestions?  I tried everything I found on Adobe short of deactivating and reinstalling the software.  Thank you!

  • Updates failed to install

After I have installed Creative Suite CS5 Master Collection and checked for updates, the Adobe Application Manager runs and appears to download the updates ok - but it then fails with the message:
    "Some updates failed to install"
This is followed by the same message for each update:
"There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later."
This happens every time I try to install the updates.
I am running Norton Internet Security and have tried disabling the firewall to see if that helps - to no avail.
This occurs under both Windows XP Pro 32 bit and Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.
I followed Adobe's online advice and tried to download Adobe Support Advisor but just got a message saying it had been discontinued.
I also tried to find relevant logs in the Installer folder, but there didn't seem to be any of the current date.
    Guidance would be appreciated.

  • Cs5 update fails

    Some updates failed to install.
The following updates were unable to install these updates, please fix the problems below and retry:
    Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.5 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
This is repeated for each of the applications in the CS5 suite. Re-downloading results in the same error. Any suggestions on way forward?
The error message is followed at the bottom with 'Contact Customer Support for further assistance' but that is only a link to these forums. Not good given the original price paid for the product.

I'm having the same problem since moving to a new Windows 8.1 computer. I tried the direct downloads—they do not work either. All was fine on Windows 7. I also tried running in compatibility mode for updating, but that did not work either. The updates download, but the install fails every time.

    What might be the problem?

I also have a problem with the disk permissions. Anytime I launch the 'verify disk permissions' I have got the same bunch of warnings:

    Any suggestions?

I have been trying to update to 6.0.1 for weeks.  No success.  I found the log.gz file as you suggested and opened in wordpad but the file is either encrypted or corrupt.  The date and time of the file is when i originally installed InDesign.  Nothing has been added either today or on previous attempts to update.
I have tried to attach the file but as it's not on your list of allowed types it may not come with the message, so here is a sample:

You are right. There are a lot more self-support tools available in Windows
than in MacOS. All you ever get on a Mac is "That didn't work: -304998173".
    Thanks for your insights.

The upgrade is not the 11.0.06, but that is an update. The upgrade is what
you can purchase if you had a previous version of Acrobat (at least AA 9).
The upgrade is substantially less in price than the full product. With the
upgrade you also have to have the SN of the previous product available for
the install. That is why I asked about the upgrade. Once you install AA XI,
then going to 11.0.06 is a free update (updates are changes in the
sub-version and are done quarterly or when there is a critical security
issue).  You can often fix installations by running a repair. In Windows
that is done either from Help>Repair or from the Control Panel. I do not
know the equivalent of the Control panel in the MAC. In any case I am glad
    you got it fixed.
