CS5 with Windows XP?

Does anyone know if Adobe (or someone else) has announced any technote or other material about running InDesign CS5 (and other CS5 softwares) in Windows XP?
• Possible problems?
• 32- or 64 bits, does it matter?
• Any tricks for optimizing performance?
• Something that should avoid?...etc
I know that it would be very wise to upgrade to Windows 7 but in this case it´s not possible because of some 3rd party tools....
Thanks in advance....

I use CS5 on XP (32 bit) mostly as well as a bit of 7 (also 32 bit) and haven't noticed any difference at all in Indesign. I don't think there are any possible problems relating to the version of Windows at all, AFAIK Adobe offers full support for XP. Others mileage may vary but I've never heard high praise for XP 64 bit, unlike 7 64 bit.
I also have never seen anything about optimizing Indesign, I asked much the same question here but got no bites.

You might want to check this thread. Some have had success with CS5 on Windows 8, others not so lucky.

You can try and see for yourself, but I don't think the Best Buy techs were trying to upsell you.

• Adobe CS5 with Windows 8

I need a definite answer as to whether Adobe CS5 is compatible with Windows 8.
http://www.adobe.com/support/OScompatibility.html
The chart doesn't specifiy if Creative Suite Five works within Windows 8

There is no definitive answer. It was never tested on or designed for Win 8. For the most part it should work, but there may be specific compatibility issues that you have to muddle through.

• I have Dreamweaver CS5 with Windows 8 and it won't stay connected to the server and it says I need flash plug in, please help

I have a Gateway computer with Windows 8 installed. I have installed Dreamweaver CS5 to manage my website and it won't stay connected to the server. It also won't play flash and says I need a flash plug in. Please help

#1 Try toggling Passive FTP on/off in your remote server's site definition.
#2 Except for a handful of gaming sites, Flash is a dead web technology. It's not supported by iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Android, etc... I don't recommend using Flash for anything these days. Better to use HTML5, CSS level 3 and JavaScript.

• PhotoShop CS5 with Windows 7 64 bits and/or Windows 7 32 bits

Hello
I just bought a new computer with an Intal QuadCore, 8 Gb of memory and Windows 7 - 64 bits edition
I plan to upgrade from a former Photoshop CS3 onWindows XP and it was a 32 bits edition
Is the Photoshop CS5 supported on BOTH Win 7 32 AND 64 bits ? Or are they different versions ?
I plan to either have a dual boot Win 7 32 Bits - Win 7 64 bits or separate hard disk on racks, so I'll still be able to use 32 bits softwazre that don't run on 64bits
But if PhotoShop CS5 comes in 2 versions, I need to decide which one I should buy
Thanks for any help you vcan provide
have a good day
PS : Is the problem with PhotoShop CS5 running on AMD processors solved ?

Windows 7 x64 is a separate build from Windows 7 32 bit. Windows 7 Ultimate comes with BOTH.
There isn't a separate package of Photoshop CS5 for 32 bit or 64 bit. Photoshop (since CS4) installs both 32 bit and 64 bit software on a 64 bit Windows system, or only 32 bit software on a 32 bit Windows system.
Photoshop CS5 is fine with every variant of Windows 7.
Photoshop CS5 is reportedly fine with modern AMD processors, though I have only used Intel.
The detailed system requirements are here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/systemreqs/
My own (personal, subjective) opinion is that ATI (AMD) video interfaces are better than nVidia.
Hope this answers your questions.

• Conficts of Indesign CS5 with Windows 7

Been experiencing some troubles the last 2 days. I work with Indesign CS5 V7.0 on Windows 7. After I closed normally my working document and turned off my computer I reopened it next day I saw that my whole file was messed up. I had hiden text all over and text boxes missplaced. I had to start all over again, the fuuny thing is that I triple checked for any changes in fonds or fond sizes but useless. Anyway after I refixed everything I come back the next day and I see everything messed up again . I noticed that the text comes allmost as it was if I resize the main text box, by resize I mean to strech it (the text is placed on 3/4 of the page). Please if someone can help or had the same experience to mine please feel free to reply.

What Bob says. You have something seriously wrong, either in the installation or this particular document. Is this happeing in all files you make?
The first two things to try are: Replace Your Preferences and, if the trouble is restricted to one file, Remove minor corruption by exporting
If the problem persists you should uninstall ID, run the clean tool (Resolve installation problems with CS5 Cleaner Tool) and reinstall. Run the Windows configuration utility (MSconfig) to turn off unecessary startup programs and services, especially anti-virus or malware scanners and third-party firewalls, iTunes, instant messengers, and browser helpers and toolbars, before you reinstall, then reset to normal startup after.

• Is there any way to use Illustrator (CS5) with Windows 8.1?

I'm in the middle of installing CS5 Design Premium on new machine (Win8.1) and see error beside Illustrator that the system requirements are not met. Windows help site suggests CS5 and Win8.1 are compatible. Surely there is some way to make these work together like the rest of my creative suite...?

Without exact system info we cannot know. There could be any number of reasons why it thinks it isn't compatible and generic "It's Windows 8.1" don't help.

• Wits End! I'm running Adobe cs5 with Windows 7 - Bridge and Raw are Crazy slow!

Everything has been running beautifully, then it all went horribly wrong. Bridge comes up fine, then I right click on an image to open it in raw and the spinner starts and spins for 3-5 minutes. I finally get the image open in raw, make my adjustments and click to open in photoshop. Then I have to walk away. another 5-10 minutes. Crying won't help so I'm coming to you!
I've uninstalled and reinstalled cs5, I've defragged and disc cleaned, updated windows, downloaded the latest bridge update (but not sure how to tell if it's installed in the right place? does it do that automatically?), I have 852 gb of free space on my hard drive of a poss 916.
I've tried to think of what may have changed? Could an automatic windows 7 update have caused the problem? I recently added another external hard drive (Seagate GoFlex - I now have 2)
This is my busy season and I can't afford to have this down time - 2 days of trying to fix the problem.
Anyone have any solutions please?
thanks!

I Have resolved it, but not really sure How I did it! lol
I did the upgrades. Removed and reloaded CS5, but don't use the 64 bit
version...I think that was what I somehow got onto before.
The latest update didn't Cause the issue for me because I hadn't downloaded
it yet.
I also, did a major defrag and disc cleanup.
Good luck!

• Is anyone having trouble using Dreamweaver CS5 with Windows 7?

I've just started using Dreamweaver and thought I could import source code from an HTML newsletter template I had and just update it with the new text and pictures. I started a new HTML page, imported the source code into the workspace, then started updating it. However, all I get is code when I try to preview the file in the design view or a web browser. What am I doing wrong? I've attached a screen cap of what I'm seeing.
Thanks to anyone who can help!

Just a nit - you are not *importing* anything. You are just copying and pasting. I'm just sayin'.
When you paste HTML code into Design view, all of the HTML brackets ("<" and ">") are converted to HTML entities ("<" and ">", respectively), which makes the result look like code in Design view, but there is no 'display' to be rendered other than the text.

• Is Photoshop CS5 compatible with Windows 8?

My computer died and I have to buy a new one which will probably come with Windows 8. Is Photoshop CS5 compatible with Windows 8? I can't seem to find a straight answer.

It is not officially supported as the OS was not available with CS5 was written. It will work on it however.
From what I have read Win 8 is a step down from Win 7 from a purely operational view. It also has an annoying problem with the screen blinking with many of the video cards. So see if you really like the features of Win8 before committing. Win7 should still be available but you would have to make it a special request.
