CS5 Won't Export to .swf in spreads

I know there's something simple I'm missing here, but I'm tired and under deadline and need help.
In ID CS4, I could export spreads to .swf.  In ID CS5, I'm not seeing that option in the export box and consequently, my books are coming up with single pages.  What am I missing?

Oh, sorry.  Forgot about the specifics.

I've been having a problem recently when exporting to PDF in InDesign CS5.  I get an error message which says:
1 problem was found with a background task:
    Export: "NameOfDocument" (1)
It won't export to PDF.  What can I do about this?  Many thanks.

  • Xcelsius 2008 FP2 won't export to swf

    Hello,
I can not get Xcelsius to preview or export to swf.  The progress bar labelled "Generating swft" displays for approximately 3-5 minutes until Xcelsius.exe finally crashes and the app closes.  I'm running Xcelsius 2008 SP1 with FP2, Live Office XI R2 and Flash 10 (lastest version).  I've also looked at the Flash security as described in other forum posts and that does not appear to be the issue.
The .xlf I'm working with was successfully completed and published to Crystalreports.com and is working fine.  The problems began when two additional Live Office connections were added to allow for some additional data points in the next release of the dashboard.  The data model now contains a few hundred more rows and a few hundred forumlas causing the Excel file to increase to just under 1MB.  The total number of rows of data return in all Live Office connections combine are just over 1,000 rows.  The max # rows setting in Xcelsius is set to 2,000.  The formula cells added to the data model are fairly simple formulas that were successfully used in the data model previously (ISERROR, INDEX, MATCH).
On occasion, Xcelsius will give the message box "Your range has been reduced to the maximum rows allowed" before crashing.
Acting on this message I have removed the new Live Office connections, but the message/crashing continues.  I have now scaled back the # of Live Office connections and # of formula cells way back to a very small number.  the data model is now very small and quickly imports into Xcelsius yet the same message/crashing continues.  I have verified that the data model currently in Xcelsius is the most recent, very small version of the data model, but Xcelsius still behaves like the large 1MB data model is present.
I don't know if this is even a # rows/data model size issue or a config/bug issue.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
I've read the PDF on FP3, but don't see this scenario listed.  Might FP3 help?  I need to be FP3 is compatible with publishing swf files to Crystalreports.com which is a BOE XI R2 platform.

thanks for the quick advice.  so we can scale back the data to within 512 rows by splitting this into 2 dashboards.  Not ideal, but shouldl be acceptable.
The data is already pre-aggregated.  The data sources for this data model are crystal reports that are published in Crystalreports.com and refreshed nightly against a 3rd party API.  Virtually all of the formulas required in Excel are used to line up rows of data that are being pulled in from 2 seperate live office queries.  All of the required data points could not be included in a single crystal report so 2 are needed and the rows matched up in Excel using an INDEX(MATCH) formula.  We are not using any unsupported functions or VLOOKUP per the advice of an Xcelsius best practice document I located in this forum.  I'm open to any suggestions on better techniques to align related rows of data from two seperate ranges in Excel so they essentially appear as though they came from a single data source.
I am starting to lean toward the # of formulas in the data model as being the issue and have added fitlers to the live office query to cut the # of rows to only 20% of what was originally being retrieved.  The # of formulas were also reduced by the same percentage.  However, when trying to preview or export to swf, Xcelsius still gives the same message that the range was reduced to the max allowed and then crashes.  It's as if Xcelsius is still seeing the old data model.  Perhaps something is being cached that isn't clearing out?  Even a full remove and re-install of Xcelsius SP1, Live Office and FP2 has had no affect.  Maybe we need to build a new .xlf from scratch?
    thanks

  • CS5 won't export a new swc

    Hi all,
I've been having similar issues as many others regarding saving xfl and fla files out of flash cs5.  I have managed to get through them with various methods of recreating files, make new flas, and coping the library over, and the like.. (All of which is crap by the way, saving issues should NEVER be an issue)
The answer from support seems to be "You have a corrupt asset".  If this is the case then flash corrupted it. </RANT>
The issue I'm having now however, is that I can no longer get it to export a new swc.  I'm using the swc with a Pure AS3 project.
I can save the xfl file just fine.
I can compile it and it doesn't complain (though there isn't much to compile other than images and movieclips containing those images)
I can re-open the file just fine.
I am not saving across a network, but directly to a local disk.
As far as I know, I don't have odd characters in the clip names, but if there are its by mistake, and there is virtually no way of discovering which one it is.
I am on the latest version of Flash Pro CS5 (11.0.2.489)
So, to Support:  Can someone there at adobe please look at this file and tell me what is not allowing it to build the swc?  Or better yet, tell me how to find out?
I'm sure its breaking in the middle and giving up but not ever throwing an error.
Is there a way to find out what asset is breaking it?
Please, this is driving me insane.
I will gladly email Support the project to have a look at.  However I cannot publicly give out the file on the forum.
    Thank you,
    Jake

So it turns out after a few hours of deleting things from the library one at a time, it was the "Component Assets" folder (standard flash button component) that was breaking it.
Can someone tell me what exactly became "corrupt"?  What does corrupt mean exactly?  What .xml file or .dat file is being incorrectly written out?  What can we look for to try and manually mend this issues?
Support, please, just answer those questions, so we can get on with our work and just fix these issues on our end until you guys can fix yours in the "next release"
    Thanks.

  • Can you export a SWF in photoshop CS5 or CS6?

I have a client that has provided me SWF files that swear were exported from Photoshop, I know that this could be done in earlier versions. if so then how can this be done in CS5 or CS6. I have access to both.

To my knowledge, the ability to export as .swf was removed after CS3. Do you know what version of Photoshop your client was using?

  • Exporting to SWF, keeping same page formats

    Hi,
I have an InDesign document, in CS5, with different page spreads. They're all A4 double spreads except for two of the pages. One is A4 portrait on its own and on is landscape.
When I export to swf, those pages turn into double page spreads which means I end up having what looks like a blank page next to my single page.
Is there any way of keeping different page sizes when exporting to SWF?
    Thanks in advance,
    ZoeByDesign

No there´s not. InDesign exports your SWF by using the size of the largest spread in your document. Smaller spreads or pages will be exported to that size as well, extra space filled with white...
I suggest you to change the size of those single pages to match the size of other spreads (A4 portrait > A3 landscape) and fill the empty space as you like in InDesign instead of letting SWF exporter use white color. If you want it to look like it´s single page, fill the emtpy space with same color you have as a background in your html-wrapper file.
Check this sample (coverpage is actually a spread, but the left side is filled with same grey that has been used as a background):

  • Photoshop CS5 won't open .kmz files

Photoshop CS5 won't open .kmz files. I did a fresh install of Google Earth, opened it, saved a place, and saved a .kmz file. It reopens fine in Google Earth.
When I try to open it in Photoshop, this message pops up:
    File Format Error
This file is from a previous version of Google Earth or it is not a Google Earth file
I get this message regardless of the following:
    - ps is closed and i right click the kmz and choose ps (rather than google earth) to open it
    - ps is open and i double click the kmz
    - ps is open and i choose file/open and select the kmz
    - ps is open and i have created and saved a new psd file, then choose 3D/New Layer from 3D File/ and select the kmz
I have tried the usual remedies, change rwx permissions, repair permissions, delete prefs. No luck.
Any thoughts? Software versions are below.
    Thanks.
    - Photoshop CS5 Extended 12.0.4 x64 (doesn't work in x32 either)
    - Google Earth 6.0.3.2197
    - OS 10.6.8

I was trying to see (since Photoshop Extended touts the ability to open kmz files) if I could open a 3D Google Earth file and edit it in Photoshop. A file like this for instance http://ecotope.org/anthromes/maps/. After more research I've learned that kmz is nothing more that a container format - you can change the extension to zip and see what's in it.
I ran across this tidbit in the Photoshop CS3 Extended forum:
Photoshop CS3 Extended supports the ability to import .kmz files created from Google Earth 4 or exported from Sketch-up in the Google Earth 4 format. Photoshop CS3 Extended cannot open Google Earth files. If you have a Google Earth file, you can convert it to a Google Earth 4 format with the free version of Sketch-up.
So, theoretically if I could get a kmz into Google Earth 4 format, I could open it in Photoshop. But I haven't had any success importing a kmz or kml into SketchUp. Even just making a native sketchup file and trying to import that in psd gives a ram error.
Probably I'm wishing for the moon.

  • Export as SWF

Hi I am having an issue with exporting CS5 .indd as SWF.
I want to create an e-book with placed SWF Media that is exported as SWF and includes Page Curl.
I have set the placed SWF media to play on page load, poster is standard, and export settings, Interactivity and Media include all.
Problem is the placed SWF does not play on page load, you can see an object that when clicked then plays the placed SWF.
I need this to play on page load, really appreciate some help!! Many Thanks Paul

Hi, I know why! I forgot to mention that I also had a sound object mp3 added to the page. If I remove this the SWF plays and exports correctly.
Does this mean you can only have one media object on a page? Be Good to know, thanks Paul

  • Xcelsius won't export to PPT or DOC

-Operating System:  XP Professional 2002 SP2
    -OS Patch level:  SP2
    -Office Version:  XP 2002
-Flash Player version: Adobe Flash Player 9 ActiveX
-Xcelsius Version and Patch Level: Xcesius present 2008 5.0.0.99
    -Xcelsius Build number (Help>About Xcelsius):12,1,0,247
-Business Objects Enterprise version/patch level (if applicable):
-Issue Description:  Won't export to powerpoint or word, but will export to PDF.  When exporting to powerpoint, Xcelsius say's it is generating an SWF.  It will then open powerpoint with a new presentation that only has a box with a X through it.  Otherwise the presentation appears to have no content.  selecting presentation mode does not help.
A similar thing happens when exporting to word, but after the "generating SWF" dialog box goes away, nothing happens, word does not open, and I can not find a new word file.
However, I can successfully export to PDF and the flash works.
    -Steps to Duplicate:
    1. create content in xcelsius
    2. select file/export/powerpoint or file/export/word
    3. enter file name for PPT or DOC file
    4. save or enter to close dialog box

    Hi markbb,
I notice that you are running Xcelsius Present 2008 Version 5.0.0.99
This is a totally upatched version and I suggest that you upgrade to the current SP2 (Service Patch 2) level

  • Suddenly Media Encoder won't export to .avi from a Premiere Pro sequence

Came back to work today and out of the blue Media Encoder just won't export to .avi from a Premiere Pro sequence. Working with CS5 on Windows 7. That was the last thing I did yesterday before leaving work and it worked just fine, and it has always worked without any problems ever since I upgraded from CS4.
Here are the steps I always take: go to Export-->Media from the Premiere Pro sequence and the settings open up, I select Microsoft AVI - PAL DV, click the queue button, AME opens up but nothing loads, the queue remains empty and nothing happens.
I tried the same but selected MPEG-2 instead and it works that way.
I also tried opening the sequence directly from AME and it does it but it doesn't give me the option to export it to Microsoft AVI, it's just not on the list.
I deleted all preferences and old metadata options saved from all applications but that didn't help.
Didn't install any updates whatsoever that might have changed anything at all from yesterday till now.
If anyone knows what the problem might be and how to fix it, that will be truly appreciated, thanks in advance.

After a couple of hours going through the registry and every folder and file inside "Program Files--Adobe--Media Encoder CS5" and trying to find the problem, I did.
Thing is, the ExportAVI.prm plug-in file wasn't missing, it was there in the "Plug-ins--common" folder together with every other exporter and importer file, it just wasn't being loaded by AME for some reason. So i found a folder named "txt" and inside it there was a file named "AddExporterList.txt" which I opened and, as you could probably imagine from its pretty self-explanatory name, it contained a list of the exporter files that AME was supposed to load, and the AVI one wasn't on the list.
I wasn't sure wether it was best for me to edit that text file and add the AVI exporter to the list or just delete the damn thing, so i checked on an older PC with the CS4 suite installed in it and the "txt" folder didn't even exist, so I just deleted it and opened up AME again and it loaded every single exporter .prm file including the ExporterAVI.prm of course and it works just fine now, so that's a load off my shoulders, hope this might help someone else in the future.

  • Export as .swf missing in Photoshop Issue

I'm from Chicago, At my home computer I have both Photoshop CS4 & CS5 (Both Extended Editions) for work, while at my home computer I was able to make animations in Photoshop, and simply create a .swf file by file >> Export as .swf
I'm currently in New York City for an internship, and they also have both PSCS4 & CS5 (Both Extended), but the problem is creating animations via Photoshop there is no Export as .swf
I've spent the last 6 houts literally researching this issue, and have only found topics dating back to CS2 & ImageReady when I'm positive that I've done this on my home computer. If there is anyway I can get this computer in New York to export as .swf IN Photoshopshop could someone please steer me in the right direction, I'd me most grateful. Thanks alot.

As Silkrooster said, this may depend on the Quicktime SWF  export component. However, it only existed in CS3 and before and then Appple and Adobe pulled the plug on it in mutual agreement. It is not part of QT 7, but of course you may obtain it by installing older QT versions (I think it was last seen in 6.1). Other than that, the "good" way to create SWFs is to use Flash Catalyst that comes with every CS5 suite...

  • Flash CS5 will not export AIR 2.0

I spent a weekend developing an AIR app for a customer using the new Adobe Flash CS5. When I was finally ready to publish, I got this message.
"Error exporting the SWF file. Please see the error(s) in the compiler errors panel."
I am not really sure what to make of this error. I have no error in the compiler errors panel and it does the same even if i try publishing a blank air file. Anyone got an idea of why this is happening?
I am very dissapointed in Adobe. Steve Jobbs was right not to include this garbage on the new ipads and iphones.

CS5 seems to be coughing up lots of errors and crashes nowadays.
If you want Adobe to release some patches fro CS5, though, I'm appealing here and gathering up signatures for a petition. Complain here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/649242.

  • Exporting an swf as an animated .gif the correct way?

I have read all kinds of posts on this, most are old from back in the early 00's. I have some flash banners that I made that need .gif back ups and I find myself pretty screwed if I can't do this. I tried exporting an .swf thru the publishing settings in Flash and no matter which setting I choose the gifs are pixelated and very bad quality. I just finished reading a post where it said to use the file - export from the menu which I did use and the quality is much better but nothing near acceptable for the client. I also read to export the swf to Quicktime and QT can convert to animated gif so while I look at that option is there someone that can point me in the right direction as this could spell trouble for me if I cannot come up with a solution as I have multiple swfs that need to go through Google analyctics and need the gif back ups.
    thx
    rder

After spending hours losing my hair finding an answer, I found that there is no answer. reality is that Flash (at least CS3) has an export to gif feature but this is a waste as the gifs are horrible quality. Publishing as is no better so that closes the door doing it that way, so on and on I went searching and saw a post that Quicktime can do this, so I publish as a QT file and then export QT file (in QT) as an image sequence. It worked but it delivers each frame so the longer file you have the more frames. Useless to me, so in 2009 as far as I see there is NO WAY you can convert an swf to an animated .gif if you are on a Mac. Go ahead and search for OS X swf to .gif and you will see tons of misleading adds and then when you open each you see they are all .exe files and you know what that means!
So, thank god I have a pc as well and found about 100 apps all kinds from freeware to sharewrae that will convert swfs to animated gifs (IF YOU HAVE A PC)

  • Podcast won't export from Garageband to iWeb

    Hi all
Help appreciated with this. I do a two hour music podcast (www.whatyouwantradio.com also available at http://soundcloud.com/whatyouwant-radio) which is created in Garageband and then exported to iWeb for uploading to my website. I've been running this, with few problems, since April 2009.
Recently the garageband podcast won't export to iWeb. It's random, and I seem to have been able to bypass it by changing the filename slightly, or adjusting the quality at which it is exported (I like to export at 320mps for best quality - big files but no complaints from the 100 or so listeners. Could be more - who knows as I can't get stats from iTunes. But I digress). However, the most recent podcast, which is already available on Soundcloud, just won't export. It goes through the motions (mixdown etc.) but nothing appears on iWeb on the other side. No error message, nothing. I know that memory has also been an issue in the past but right now there is plenty to spare (5.37GB at last glance).
I'd really be grateful for some help on this, I'm at a bit of a loss - no error message, no clue. As I say, this podcast has been going for nearly three years and it's only recently I've had this problem.
    Cheers,

Just a further note on this. I tried a couple more times yesterday to export the file. Starting out with over 5GB of memory, by the time I had tried twice this had gone down by a couple of GB. Still no export. This morning I noticed some new files in the trash that were from around the time of the failed exporting:
Note sure if you can see that, but I'm guessing the files are something to do with the failed export? Does anyone have any thoughts? Either way, this problem is still annoying the **** out of me...
