CS5 won't update, says I have invalid serial

I just started a new job, and they have CS5 on their Mac, purchased on Tech Soup some years ago. It hasn't been updated much, so I'm trying to get everything current. Half of the products updated, but the core products -- Photoshop, InDesign, etc. -- are a no-go. It's saying I have an invalid serial, and when it takes me to the help page, it describes what I should do at initial install. But the suite is already installed with a serial already entered. I don't know where to find on the computer what it is (it seems to be lost at the office) or where to change it, if it's incorrect. I assume it was correct, because it's installed, and successfully registered to this account.
Thoughts?

I think the download limit for the iPad is 20mb.
You don't say what you've bought but if it's over that you'll have to use iTunes on your computer and transfer it that way.

  • CS5 won't update. Tells me my serial number is incorrect but all programs still function and are usable.

I have a copy of CS5 Production Premium. It installs and works properly with the serial number I have. The issue is when I try and update the software with a normal update. The update fails for every application and tells me there was an error. Upon clicking "Contact customer support" it tells me, "This serial number is not for a qualifying product." I then try the things suggested in the customer support section, and guess what? Still nothing.
    So yeah.

    Hi..
Apps that run on your Mac (OS X) cannot run on an (iOS) device such as iPads and iPhones.

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here: http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html and here http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-11-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

  • HT5957 iPad won't update says not connected to Internet

My iPad won't update. It says I am not connected to the Internet even though I am connected!

    Good to know. Thanks.
I restarted my iPad right after posting to this thread and it seems to be working. Just about done with the install now. Should be fine I think.

  • My Cs5 disc is lost but i have a serial number how can i get it on my computer?

I have CS5 serial number but i have lost the disc and am trying to install it on my computer. How can i do it?

    Hi dutchallen1,
You can use a download instead of the disk and license with your serial. The link can be found here: Other downloads select CS5, the program you use to have on disk. Please change the language of the page so you will get the correct language. Serials are limited to the language and the program so please be carefully selecting the correct suite or single program. Good luck!

  • Firefox won't update - tho I have OSX 10.5.8 it keeps saying I have too old an OS. The auto-update for Firefox is greyed out. How can I update?

I have a Mac Powerbook G4, running OS X 10.5.8. I'm getting messages from Google that Firefox is an old version and needs updating - so I went to the Firefox website and the message said that "Unfortunately the latest version of Firefox isn't compatible with your computer's operating system. Learn more." When I click Learn More, it says that Firefox only works with OS X 10.5 and 10.6...The auto-update box for Firefox is greyed out and un-clickable in Firefox preferences, there's no manual download that I can find - how can I make Firefox recognize my OS and allow me to upgrade? Many thanks.

PPC Macs aren't compatible with Firefox 4.0 and later versions.
    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4 / 5 / 6, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

  • CS5 won't update/refresh changes

    Hi,
I am having issues with my Photoshop CS5, for some reason if I make any changes to my PSD they don't display straight away as normal, I have been having to zoom in/out of the PSD to force the changes to appear, whether its adding/editing text or images, just anything won't show straight away like it used to. I haven't added any plugins that I know of, it's pretty stock standard version 12.0.4 x64 and I assumed it maybe graphic card related so just updated to the latest drivers with no luck so i'm lost...
    Thanks

Update your graphics driver, turn off OpenGL in the prefsß

  • Latest update for iTunes won't update - says path cannot be found!

I am trying to update iTunes.  I have iTunes version 11.1.0.126 and my computer runs on Windows XP v. 5.1.  The iTunes.msi installer is downloading to a folder on my computer but then both automatic and manual update fail and I am getting a message saying the "network resource is unavailable" and directing me to choose another path.  When I check the path I see that it is entirely correct!  When I click on OK i get another message saying iTunes.msi cannot be found!  What gives?

Did you ever get an answer?  I also have Windows XP and cannot update it gives me the same error you got.  The updates were working just fine, then one day when I ran the updates I got the eror so I quit the update.  So every subsequent update iTunes said was available will not work. Prior to the first error, I had done nothing new to my computer.  PLEASE let me know if you got this issue solved and if so, what did you have to do.

  • IPod won't update, says connection time out

I'm writing this for a friend i do a lot of computer help for.
His iPod Touch (first gen) will not update, consequentially he cannot update his new applications.
I would hate to restore it and wipe out everything but thus far, that's what I'm thinking we may have to do.
Any recommendations? It keeps saying that the connection timed out when downloading the 2.2 software.

You'll just have to make sure the playlists equal less tahn 20 (18.7) GB. This may mean cutting or two playlists down in size, or cutting one or two playlists.
Once you do that, go to edit\prefs\iPod, and check the boxes by all of the playlists totalling less than 20 GB.

  • Premiere Pro CC won't update; says to close ~logTransfer

For the past few days I have been trying to update Premiere through my Creative Cloud.  All other programs I have downloaded (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc) update just fine, but when it gets to Premiere I get a pop up message asking me to close "~logTransfer" before updating Premiere.  I'm on a Mac and tried the Forced Quit process but I can't find anything that says anything like "logTransfer" anywhere that I can close.  Any thoughts?

    Hi paulgenzink,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Have you tried searching the process in activity monitor on your Mac. Please go to spotlight and search for Activity Monitor. Open it and search for ~logtransfer process and force quit it. Please alos, mention the version of your Mac.

  • IPod Nano Won't update, says playlists no longer exist,

I am really getting frustrated with my iPod nano. First it started off by not updating songs. Then it started to erase songs when i connected it to itunes. So i erased everything hoping that would fix it. But now when I try to put them back on the computer says iPod update complete but there are no songs. It also say that the iPod can't be updated because the playlists no longer exist.
If anyone knows how to fix this problem please respond as soon as possible.
    Thanks

Ok, first try a restore. Next, on the playlist issue...
Did you delete the playlists from iTunes? If so, then the iPod is trying to automatically update, but it can't, since the playlists no longer exist. Try putting your iPod into manually update; you can find that in the iPod Options tab.

  • IPod won't update, Says Playlists Don't Exist Anymore So Can't Be Updated

I think this might be because I used to have too much music for my 20 GB iPod, so there was a playlist my Mac created called "My iPod" and had music selections on it. but then I deleted a couple of albums from my computer so I could have all of the music on my iPod that I wanted, thinking iPod could just update my library onto my iPod as it used to do.
I would love to update my iPod so any advice is much appreciated. I have a 3rd gen iPod, iBook G4.
    Many Thanks.
