CS6 64-bit Bridge crashes on opening

New install on a Windows 7 professional machine, using direct download from Adobe.  I have Photoshop CS5 which I left alone and installed CS6 as new.
Photoshop CS6 64bit launches OK but when I select Browse in Bridge I got an appcrash.  I applied the Bridge 64bit update and get the same crash:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: Bridge.exe

The same happens if I open Bridge 64 directly.
If I try holding CTRL down, i get the preferences window but clicking any combination of  the three options and  continuing gives exactly the same error.
I've searched for solutions and see that this complaint has been going for some considerable time..
What do i do?

Thanks a lot for the quick answer.  I fell into the trap of thinking that a download two days ago fromt he Adobe website would be up to date.  I've just downloaded 154Mb of updates and updated the programs.  Bridge now is at a new version, but as you can see, it still crashes on opening:

It was a clean install and I didn't fiddle with anything - honest!

As an overworked professional, I simply have to consider the very viable options out there. Never thought I'd be seriously considering a Cubase product.
It's a Steinberg product, not a Cubase product.. in case you haven't been paying attention Steinberg developed the virtual instrument for use in it's programs way back in Cubase 3.55.. the plethora of virtual instruments and the advent of low-latency drivers can be directly traced to Steinberg/Cubase development.. Logic also borrowed Cubase's arrange page format back in the 1980's. Cubase has borrowed from Logic to be sure but Steinberg has long been an innovator for many of the things we take for granted today. It was Logic/Emagic who licensed the VST technology and ASIO low latency format to use in Logic 4.xx. It was Apple who adapted VST to it's own AU format. Also, Cubase and Nuendo have undergone a lot more innovation over the past three years, Yamaha has been good as a parent company. Cubase is not Nuendo's little brother by the way, they are very close, same exact audio engine, same robustness, they can exchange files, the only difference being Cubase doesn't have some of the high end post features that Nuendo has. I use both Cubase and Logic and occasionally Nuendo at the University here.. I know both programs fairly well, believe me, both Cubase 6 and 7 can hold their own with any DAW out there, they just don't come with a bunch of ready made loops and preset instruments.
LogicX will never be able to use 32-bit instruments without a third party solution, nor will it ever include the Bridge. At least according to the people I know.

  • Adobe bridges crashes when opening a video file

  • CS6 bridge crashes trying open files

bridge opens up fine, I can browse around & preview images without any trouble…
Whenever I double-click or right-click on an image whether it be a raster image or a vector image, bridge crashes and the file never opens in Photoshop or Illustrator…
    Any Thoughts?

Fast forward a bit to September 2012 and I'm experiencing the same problem of Adobe Bridge CS6 crashing like a mofo. I'd love it if anyone could brighten my life with some sollutions.
I'm using: Bridge CS6. Fully updated. Running on Windows7 32bit which is fully updated. Updated graphics card. In short, EVERYTHING on my pc is updated and runs great except bridge. Gaming PC with 4gb RAM and a sweet graphics card.
Bridge loads fine and looks okay UNTIL i open a file. The second i click Open, bridge crashes.
Bridge also crashes if i double click a folder which has a photo in it.  Never fails to crash. The error is typical nonsense:
"Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working. Windows is checking for a sollution to the problem." followd by "A problem has caused the program to stop working corectly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a sollution is available." "Close Program."
Curt Y advised the previous member to open View Event Logs, and look for errors/warnings. Specifically in Applications an area called Faulting Module. Well I can't find anything called "fault". I opened Event Viewer, the four options are "custom views", "windows logs", "applications and services logs", and "subscriptions". Clicking the down arrow on each of them brings up sub areas, none called fault.
Under Windows Logs and Application, there are a lot of errors listed involving Bridge CS6. This is what the information and error log says:
Faulting application name: Bridge.exe, version: 5.0.1.21, time stamp: 0x50226927

  • I am running a TRIAL VERSION of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended and Bridge does not open.  Help?

I am running a TRIAL VERSION of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended on MAC and Bridge does not open.  It did open when I first downloaded it - but now a black question mark is over the BR icon and it does not open up.  Any ideas from anyone?

    Hi Steve -
I just thought it was interesting and helpful to me to learn that the icon for Bridge does not appear anywhere.  Not in Application Folder.  Not in the Finders Directory Files.  I see your point - if I could locate that icon - I'd be set by dragging it onto my DOCK and launching it from there.
So - I'm assuming I need to uninstall CS6.   Please list all the steps for me to uninstall so that I don't miss any CS6 files.
When I search in FINDER for CS6 uninstall- I see two icons -  red adobe "UNINSTALL ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS6" (both files are identical)  Under KIND they both say Alias - with two different dates they were last opened (in November - few minutes apart).  Is that what I use to uninstall completely all the files related to PS CS6 Extended as well as Bridge?
Do I need to DEACTIVATE ANYTHING ANYWHERE?
DOES ANYTHING NEED TO GO INTO TRASH.
I just want to make sure 'everything' related to CS6 Extended is off my computer and out of all the files.  In the event i want to re-install - naturally I don't want to run into any conflicting 'issues'.
Do you think if I reinstall I will run into this same problem again (BR not launching)?  Is there anything I can do to prevent it?  I note on the forums - going a few years back - that there have been a lot of issues related to this same problem - even in other versions of the Creative Suite.  Is Adobe doing anything to rectify this problem for us Photoshop CS Suite lovers or is all their focus just going into CC?
Thank you so much for trying to help me resolve this issue.  It is very frustrating to have an Adobe product that is not completely functional.  Especially when the Creative Suites are so expensive.  I appreciate all the time you've put into this issue.

  • I can't open Nikon D800.nef (raw) files in my Photoshop CS6 (64 bit), however, I can open .jpg files

I just purchased and installed Photoshop CS6 (64 bit) to use with my Nikon D800.  However, I can't open the .nef (raw) files but the .jpg files from the same camera will open.  What do I need to do to open .nef files from the D800?

Hello! By default, Photoshop CS6 cannot open the NEF from a D800, you need to have at least Camera Raw 7.1, as explained in this document: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Go to the Help menu, and select "updates" and you'll launch the Adobe Updater that should suggest to install Camera Raw 7.2 that supports the D800, and many other cameras.

  • I just downloaded the update for CS6 Extended and Bridge will not open. How to fix?

I still have CS5 Extended on my Mac for the time being, and Bridge won't open with either program. Not sure what to do to fix. Anyone have a similar issue and a fix?  Thanks.

  • Photoshop CS6 32 Bit HDR crashes on MAC issue

    Photoshop keeps crashing every time I convert a 32 bit image to 8bit. I am using Photoshop CS6 v13.0.4 x64 on MAC OS X 10.6.8.  I goto Image>Mode>8bits/Channel.
When the Merge HDR images Dialogue Box comes up I click "Merge".
At the following window about HDR Toning it immediately crashes. (immediately as in, a second after I took this screen capture)
When i click "Don't Merge" it works fine, so it has something to do with the HDR Toning editing capabilities.
I have had problems before with CS6 working with 32 bit images on my Mac. I posted on the Adobe forum not to long ago about an issue with using content aware fill. It would render black within my selection. However it worked fine on Windows.  In addition some who relied who also used MAC OS X 10.6.8 did it an it worked fine, however, he was using Photoshop CS6 v13.0.1 x64, while I am using v13.0.4 x64.  So I think something broke in the later updates for PS CS6 for MAC.  If I were to reinstall Photoshop would that revert it to v13.0.1?

A reinstall will give you 13.0 which you'll need to manually update to 13.0.1.

  • CS3 Bridge crashes upon opening

I've been using Bridge for several years and it's worked okay until lately. It started crashing when I accessed one of my larger directories. I checked here (on this forum) and followed every thread I thought could be the problem. I've deleted the cache and the plist, reloaded CS3 completely and now it will not open at all. Wants to notify Apple of the crash report which says Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000099999a03 Do any of you know if this means it's a Mac problem? All of the other CS3 programs seem to be okay.

You're pretty smart! I logged in as a different user and it loaded okay. Of course my files are under the other user which I'll have to figure out what to do about but I'm feeling better. I had deleted the cache file manually but not sure what you mean by System Maintenance and Repair.
    Thanks so much!

Assuming you have deleted the cache file manual and not with prefs you could
try it in a new user account as Paul kindly reminded us of in the lots of
    errors thread.
And have you already tried system maintenance wit check and repair
    permissions?

  • CS5 64-Bit packages crashing in open and save dialogs

    Hi all,
I am having a big problem running photoshop 64-bit, it opens ok but when you go to file and click either Open or Save the application just closes with no error report. I have been on quite a few forums about this, common answers seem to be the following:-
Open GL (switch off or take vertical option Off)
update graphics driver (fully up to date)
Windows Updates ( fully up to date)
Delete the CS5 Service Manager folder out of the local profile
Stop WACOM service (haven't got a tablet installed)
Create new user (unfortunately the default user profile has been overwrite for sysprep purposes so nit affects every new user)
None of which have worked, I would really like to avoid rebuilding as it takes about 2 days to rebuild from scratch. We are using CS5 on a College network I currently have over 250 pc's using Windows 64-bit, on four different pc specs the main spec is as follows:-
    Core i7-2600S
    4 GB Ram
Intel Q67 Express Chipset Family (version 9.2.0.1025)
Intel Processor Graphics 2000 (Version 8.15.10.2509)
    Video Bios A00 (2089)
This spec is only used for photoshop and illustrator, my other specs are for premiere and after effects which also have the same problem although premiere is slightly different it allows you to open the dialog box for import then reports not responding and gives you a dialogue do you want to report to windows but the XML file isn't created.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem
    Please let me know
    cheers
    lee

thanks for the suggestions i did abit more digging to find it was a corruption in windows. the fix was:-
run command prompt as administrtor and run sfc /scannow
after a reboot everything works fine

Have you made your user Library-folder visible in Finder?
I did that in the Terminal and shortly after that the crashes started for me.
I just updated to 10.8.2 and that made the user Library-folder invisible again.
At the same time Bridge started behaving properly.
Not saying that's anything other than a coincidence.

The files are captured with Premeire CS4 straight from a HDV camera.
    Vista 64, Intel i7 940, 12 gig, Nvidia 260, 4 HDD.

The extra period would come from a typing error when modifying a file name.  For example if you changed fish.mpeg to fish24.mpeg if you insered wrong it could end up fish.24.mpeg.  Or if you have the show suffix turned off in windows you could end up with fish24.mpeg.mpeg.  They would both have errors and may cause problems.
    Just a thought.
I think it unusual that WE does not show thumbnails.  I checked my mpeg files and I have thumbs in WE and Bridge.  Might want to look into this closer, maye it is something to do with the camera and codex (think that is the term).  Really do not know much on video, but again another thought to consider.

Looks like some tool on your system is trying to rewrite registry keys while Bridge accesses them. Beyond that nobody can say anything. this will require major investigation using tools like Sysinternals' System Monitor...
