Cs6 action for auto curves is creating a "film" over my image

yet, when performing it by hand it works just fine , what might be wrong ? - i tried it both as a seperate layer and straight from the image - the function works fine - as soon as i create it as an action (both ways) a "film" comes over the image - almost like a blend mode layer change has happened - but blend mode is set for "normal"

you need to apply at least some effect to the shape
Thanks for that! I've consistently taken the line that you can't use Photo pages in this way. This simple trick changes everything. Great stuff.

  • Looking for comprehensive program to create pdf file from gif image

    Hello,
I'm looking for a program that can transform gif image file into pdf file. It is very importent to keep the same quality of the output document as the original image.
I've seen Bridge CS5 in action and was very much disapointed, because the original gif image had 2 colors: black and white, took 60k Byte A4 paper size. But the output pdf file became somehow to 700k Byte size. When our proffi tried to lower the ppi or quality bar there was direct impact on the image quality.
Long time ago Photoshop was able to export images as pdf files and one of the options of the pdf file was to keep the original image as gif, not as jpeg. Because jpeg is very costy format for black-white images and no-one wants to waste memory in vain, so I do not like to save pdf files of 1MB size for an image that takes 100k in gif.
I do understand that nowdays using Photoshop to save pdf files is not the option anymore, isn't it ?
What program can you suggest me to use ? I still prefer to use Adobe products, as long as I can, through I'm starting to get scared of sharp decline in quality.
    Thank you in advance.
    sincerely,
    Al

No, I didn't. The last time I saw it, it was looking just as a regular Reader with a little more options and with an addon to MS-Office, to allow to save MS documents to pdf from inside MS-Office user interface products, and frankly, I do not highly admire there products at all, so I do not have MS-Office installed. But it was also long time ago. If the situation did changed since than,  I will try it.
    Thank you very much.
I've just tried the Acrobat. It worked great ! Thank you. Just not all the images have options how to save them in pdf file, but that's ok for now

  • Creating a Banner over an Image

I cannot figure out how to put a banner diagonal over an image and mask it so the ends don't show beyond the image borders.
Think of a home for sale ad image that would have a banner that says: JUST REDUCED or something like that diagonal over the top of the image.
    Thank you

Thank you so much, Peter, for taking time to reply! That worked! I used to do this a different way years ago with another version of InDesign and couldn't find anything similar in this new version to do the same thing. I appreciate your help!

  • SSRS Report for Incidents/Work Items Created or Closed over time

I'm curious if anyone has developed a custom report based off the DWDataMart that displays the count for creation of incidents or other work items over time or work items that are closed over time.

    Hi Jon,
There is a blog, which talks about in detail regarding SCSM reporting,
    http://scug.be/scsm/2012/04/10/working-with-scsm-reporting/
However related to your queries please refer to this,

  • Creating a hyperlink over an image

iWeb is my first foray into the web creation world.
I created a "photo page" (File>New Page>Photos) where I used the photos there to link to other photo pages on my site. The caption below each photo provides the link to the corresponding photo page. However I also wanted to make the photo image itself a hyperlink. Using "shapes" I created squares of appropriate size and placed them over the photos. Using the Inspector I turned off fill, stroke and shadow (essentially making the square invisible). Next I highlighted the box and again using Inspector I "enabled as hyperlink" with the link going to the appropriate page.
It works great in iWeb. Once the link is activated, if i click on the photo it takes me to the appropriate photo album. However, when I publish my site and try to click on the photo using either Safari or Firefox all it does is open another window with a bigger version of that photo -- it does not jump to the link I set it to. (I made sure my invisible square was the top most layer.)
I know certain pages (such as the About Me page) have images that are designed to be hyperlinked. Is there any way I can do this on the photo page?
For those I may have confused with my description here is a link to the page I am talking about:
    http://web.mac.com/diverdoc/iWeb/Our%20Home%20Page/Photo%20Albums.html
    Thanks,
    Wiley

  • Cs6 asks for cc licence?

When opening ai cs6 on Mac Pro, it asks for cc license. ai cs6 runs without problems on macbook pro.
I once had cs6 and cc on both machines, but now only cs6 is left. all other programs cs6 run without problems.

I already did twice – same problem!

    Tommarec,
It sounds as if your Mac Pro thinks that you are running CS6 under CC as subscription (which is possible), rather than as a separate perprtual licence version.
You may need to reinstall as perpetual.

  • PS CS6 action save for web error

In Photoshop CS6 actions when we save the image as JPEG through save for web it doesn't work when we run it, instead it runs and saves the image as HTML, i guess some error in it. I tried it again and again but it doesn't remember my save for web settings and saves the images as HTML.

It a new bug in CS6 though when you recorded the action you saved jpeg images to you desktop and you only entered file names onto the save for web action steps the action recorder recorded name.html.  I replaced you save for web steps on my machine for my desktop and CS6 recorded  name.html.  I then did the same with CS5 though I only entered names CS5 recorded name.jpg.
If you expand the export steps tou will see the hard coded file names and extention
An action like this will always save the same files it can not be batch because you recorded Path and Names in the save for web steps.  The .html files saved on with CS6 are actually jpeg files and if you rename them hrom name.html to name.jpg you can use them,

  • Get Photoshop Auto Curve CS5 in CS6

I have been disappointed by the "enhancements" in the auto curve feature in CS6. While it supposedly simplifies adjustments wtih a single curve, I find it doesn't work as well as the functionality in CS5.
In CS5, it would adjust each channel individually. While that made it difficult to edit, the quality of the color corrections especially was superior. It was great for establishing a baseline correction and then adding other minor adjustments, as needed.
I have beautiful photos that I edited in CS5 using this feature. Now when I open them in CS6, the auto feature doesn't provide the same results with the same photos.
Is there any way to get the same type of curv auto adjustments from CS5 in CS6?

The channel by channel Auto algorithm is still there, but it is no longer the default. You have to set it and check the "save as defaults" checkbox in  Auto Color Correction Options if you want to keep it as your preferred Auto setting.

  • Adobe premiere elements 12 - how to create menu bar action for my inserted image button

adobe premiere elements 12 - how to create menu bar action for my inserted image button without using their movie menu theme

    forbemag
I do not think that I am completely focused into this completely, so let us see if the following is going to help.
You are going to need a base for your button. When you mention "image" button, I am assuming that you are using that term to differentiate between a text button and a thumbnail type button.
The menus (main and scene) take their origin in .psd files on the hard drive and strict nomenclature and structure for Layers Palatte. And, the buttons on the menus trace back to the menu markers on the Timeline, main menu marker and order of placement of scene markers. The scene thumbnail will only appear when there is a scene marker on the Timeline to which it.
    In view of all that
Where have you already inserted this "image (button)"...into the Layers Palette of a Photoshop document or other? Is this "image (button)" in a structured Layer Group in the Layers Palette with sublayer groups, text layers, graphic/background layer"?
Let me give you an example
If you have a button (with thumbnail) on the main menu and you want that to open to a specific scene in your movie, then you use a main menu marker on the Timeline at the spot that you want that button to target.
If I am getting closer to what you seek, then please further clarify the DVD navigational envisioned scheme.
    Thanks.

  • Creating an action for a template

Hi, I'm in the middle of creating an action for a template I've created but have hit a couple of snags.   The template I have created has a few blank layers that I wish to fill with different images by importing them and clipping them to the blank layer.   My issues: 1) When I run the action I need to specifiy a folder and file location which gets stored in the action - when viewing that particular action will show up the full path of where to find that file - I do not want this. I would like the action to present to 'open' window to me to allow me to select a file of my choosing without having a predefined folder to go to...  2) When opening an image it will open on its own project window. When I select the image and copy + paste it into my template it requires me to select the template project. This action will insert a 'selection 2' action step when recording. Playing this back will cause a failure as it cannot find the project for an unknown reason. Is there a way of specifiying the project window name I wish to go to during recording?  I hope that is clear enough to understand. Hope someone has some solution for me.  Thanks, MJ

You may want to look at my Phtoshop package "Photo Collage Toolkit"  It has four rules to follow when creating templates and some Photoshop Scripts.  Scripting is much more powerful then actions.  In the package there is a scripts to test templates your developing,  A script to build a template, a script to populate a template with you images, a script to interactivly populate a template with your images, a script to batch populate a template with your images and a script to batch populate a single image template with your images.

  • How to create a single action for adding a border and signature for portrait AND landscape images???

i would love to be able to create a single photoshop action for adding a border, plus a signature in the bottom right corner, that works for both portrait and landscape images.
    need i say more?!
i already have an action that adds a signature in the centre of the border at the bottom of the image e.g. the image below. what i want though is for that signature to be on the RHS and for the same action to work for portrait images as well.
supplementary info: reason for this is that I want to be able to export 300 wedding images (mix of landscape and portrait images) from lightroom in my pre-selected order (meaning the files are labelled from 001 to 300, ordered according to how the wedding day unfolded) and then use PS to add the border and the signature, in the same place, and for it to work for both orientations.
i need this to work for full sized exported jpeg images, i.e. i want the files that i give on CD to my clients to include my signature in this manner. so I don't want to copy the initial layer and then reduce the second layer size to leave a border around the second layer.
i hope i've been clear and that someone can help me here. I think that this sort of presentation makes such a difference to final printed image, and I DONT want to have to go to all 300 images picking out the landscape from portrait ones (although this may be what I have to do and wouldn't really take that long but surely there's a better way!!!!).
    Thanks in advance photoshoppers ...

It is actually quite easy to do if you have a good understanding of how Photoshop works.  To be able to handle any size Landscape and Portrait you need to scale the document to a known width or height.  Once the document is resized to the width or height it easy.  When yot resize the document you use Image size with resample NOT checked.  Not a single image pixels is changed all the happens is the documents DPI is set to the proper DPI resolution to print that size.  This lets you add a border sized for and document.  You can use Canvas Size check relative and  leatve the anchor point centered and set width and height to 2" this will add 1"on all sides. Use Canvas size a second time move the anchor point to the top center check relative and set height 1" the will add an additional 1" border on the bottom.  You then record a text layer with your Name title or what ever to the top left of the image. Select all ant the align the text layer to the selection to move it to the bottom right.
Adding a couple of scripts to the action you can make sure there is a background layer so the added canvas will be filled with pixels.  You can restore the document to its original DPI resolution to retain the images print size. Down load my crafting actions package it contains a dozen scripts to be used within actions. There are text file with tips and guidelines additionaly there is one on dealing with document size and includes a sample action set with a watermarking action the can watermark and size image. The Action set is also saved as a text file with additional comments I added my downloads can be found here http://mouseprints.net/Photoshop.html

  • How does one transfer CS5 actions for use with CS6?

CS6 installation, which was uneventful, has transferred none of my actions from my copy of CS5. The CS5 actions are located in the actions folder of the APPLICATION/PHOTOSHOP CS5/PRESETS/ACTIONS.  The "actions" folder in application support/adobe in my library is empty, and has always been so.
Only the CS6 default actions are located in the same folder for CS6.
    I use imac i7, lion.
Note that i also have CS3 and CS4 on my machine. This due to recent upgrade to CS5 and recent upgrade to LION, and my general paranoia.
Must i load each action into CS6, one at a time?
    thanks to any and all.

Re: how does one transfer CS5 actions for use with CS6?
On a Mac - There are multiple ways to do this.  I have done them both ways. In order to do this you need to know where you have your actions stored, and you can move them all at once if you have them stored in the same location.
    1. You can load an action ONE AT TIME into your actions palette by:
         A. Open up the action palette and click on the little arrow with 4 little horizontal lines next to it on the upper right corner of the actions palette.
         B. Select "Load Actions" and a Finder window will open up and you can search your computer through this window for your actions.
         C. Click on the action from the Finder window then click 'Open' at the bottom right of the finder window.
         D. To save these so that they appear every time you open up your actions palette, go back to the little arrow at the top right of the actions palette and when the drop down window opens- click on 'Save Actions'. It will select the location where the          actions are currently stored as the place to save them. If you want to change that path, you can do it at this time in the little path window.  I just leave it, since I keep all my actions stored in the same file.
    2. TO MOVE MULTIPLE ACTION SETS AT ONCE
         A. Open up CS6 (or CS5) and move the Photoshop workspace it to the right side of your computer screen so you can see your desktop on the left side.
         B. Open up your Finder search window from your dock (the square blue head icon thingy for those who are new to photoshop). Move this to the left side of your screen so you can see the Photoshop work space on the right and the Finder window          on the left. In the Finder window, navigate to the file where all your actions are stored, select all the actions in the file (command+A will select everything in the file if you are actively inside the open file) or you can select multiple files           individually by continuously holding down the command key and clicking on the different actions you want to move.
         C. With the Photoshop workspace visible on the right, and the actions palette open so you can see that the actions actually transferred - In the Finder window, click the selected actions you want to load and drag them over to the Photoshop           workspace.  I did this without an image open, I just dragged them onto the empty workspace.  The actions should all appear immediately in the actions palette that is open.
         D. To save these so that they appear every time you open up your actions palette, go back to the little arrow at the top right of the actions palette and when the drop down window opens click on 'Save Actions'. It will select the location where the           actions are stored as the place to save them. If you want to change that path, you can do it at this time in the little path window.  I just leave it, since I keep all my actions stored in the same file.
    I hope this helps.
and I hope there are no typos.

  • Automator-creating actions for printing

I would like to create an automator action for printing in preview. When printing, I have several print profiles set up based on black and white, color, etc. I also send those profiles to different trays when I print to my multifunction printer. For example, I will select a page in Preview, print in color to tray 1. Then perhaps I would select 2 pages and select black and white printing to tray 2 with a double sided copy. What I would like to do is create an automator action/script or whatever that would select the appropriate print settings so I don't need to keep clicking boxes and change settings every time I need to go through a document to print. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

To answer your last questions... yes and yes!
PSE has tools for automatically creating collages. You can also manually create one by adding pictures to a blank template. In either case the pictures will appear on separate layers which you can then individually resize, rearrange, rotate, overlap, etc. You can crop them to whatever shape you like, add effects such as borders, frames, drop shadows, and add text inside or outside the pictures.
Here is an example I created.

  • Creating action for pen tool "add to selection" problem.

I am trying to quicken my workflow and want to create an action for this instead of right click>make selection>add to selection.   I do this a lot for my job and it gets tedious.  I got an action to work except on little quirky issue. When I did this without using an action, when I clicked "OK" on the dialog box for the "add to selection" area, then I got the resulting marching ants with my intended selection and that pen path would automatically disappear. And on to the next pen path to start it over...All is good so far(except the tediousness Im trying to stop).
So the action for this results in the same thing except that instead of getting just the marching ants(as I want), I get the marching ants with the last pen path still showing under that area of marching ants I just had "added to."  I know I can just then hit "delete" to get rid of that pen path and get just my selection, but that defeats my intent on streamlining the process.
Any ideas on why this happens or a completely different way to do this with as quick of a result as the hotkey I set for this action?
    Thanks.

It looks like what is needed is some way to deselect all the points on a selected object, while keeping the object itself selected.
Using the built-in InDesign tools, the way to do that would seem to be: switch to the direct selection white arrow tool (by pressing CMD) as you have been doing. Click anywhere on the path of the object. This clears all selected points while keeping the object selected. Now release CMD to get back to the Pen tool, and add your point.
If this is too fiddly (it can be tricky to click on the path itself, although the white arrow changes subtely to show you that you're over the path), you can alternatively use the following one line script:
    try {app.selection[0].select()}catch(_){};
This does the same thing: It deselects all selected points on the current page item.
To use, copy this line to a text editor. Save with the extension .jsx and place in your InDesign scripts folder. You can then assign a keyboard shortcut to the script, so that it should be very easy to deselect all the points.

  • Impulse trigger to create a time delay of x ms to perform an action for y ms

    Hello all,
Here is what i'm trying to do:
I'm measuring an audio signal when a sound level is above a certain value Y (controllable) i need to wait a few ms (around 900ms) to get pass the main sound compound. Yhen i need to filter the next few ms (around 500ms) of data and do a FFT of that part of the filtered data only once until Y is reached again.
I can do all this with saved data but i'm struggling to do it as it occurs without saving the data.
I have everything in place i just need to know in general how to use an impulse trigger to a create time delay of x ms to perform an action for y ms.
Do you have any ideas how i can achieve this?
    Thank you in advance,
    Frederic.

    Hi Frederic,
I've looked at your program and I have a few questions. What is the purpose of the Two While Loops that simply have a Case Structure that nothing in the false case and a Wait (ms) function in the true case? As it stands if these loops go into the false case then there is nothing to slow down the execution so the will try to run as fast as possible and not give the processor any time for other tasks which may explain why your computer goes so slow whilst this is running. This also applies to the While Loop where the false case says "If its not time to write the measurement file, do nothing."
I believe that what you want to look at is a Producer/Consumer(data) Pattern, where you have one loop that generates your data (producer), in this case reads in the sound data, and then a processing loop (consumer) that will do the Fat's and log data to a file etc.
More information about this can be found here: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3023
Hopefully this helps you a bit. Let me know any questions you have.
