CS6 Applescript open in Camera Raw

I'd like some advice on the precise Applescript commands to open JPG or TIF files with the Camera Raw dialogue.
I have Photoshop CS6 set to open JPG and TIF files by default as the camera raw setting. However, I've tried various Applescript commands to do the same thing, and it always opens without the Camera Raw dialogue. I'd like to know what specific Applescript command(s) and parameters I need to put in, please. I've tried a number of combinations from looking in the Applescript reference, but they don't produce the expected effect.

Lightroom is Camera Raw. They're exactly the same code, provided versions are in step. Lr 4.4 = ACR 7.4.
"Edit In Photoshop" (Ctrl E) opens the image in Photoshop, just as "Open" does in ACR. And even though you open it from Lightroom, it's actually ACR that silently renders it into Photoshop. Lightroom just passes on its settings.
"Open As Smart Object" embeds the raw file into the PSD, so that you can reopen it in ACR, from Photoshop. Same function as you have in ACR to begin with.
If Lightroom and ACR versions are not in step, things get more complicated and some options are missing.

My NEF files used to open in camera raw 8.6 but now go straight to photoshop CS6? I don't have the option to edit them in camera raw? Help

Smart Object Not Opening in Camera RAW in CS6

I've converted a JPEG to a Smart Object in CS6. When I double-click on the Smart Object icon in the Layer, it opens as a separate JPEG file. What do I need to do to get it to open in Camera RAW as Russel Brown does in this video?

I just knew that ACR can only work on Camera RAw Files and convert the camera sensor RAW data into RGB Images and use setting other then ones set into the camera, ACR can also process Jpeg and Tiff files however Camers Sensor RAW data for thes images nolonger exists in the file. So ACR can not work on the images as well as it can when it has access to the Camera RAW data.
I was somewhat wrong about not being able to edit normal layers in ACR this script sort of makes that posible. What it does is save information about the layers transparenct and layer mask save out the layer as a temp Tiff file and place it back in as a smart object and restor the best it can any layer mask and transparency. You preferences must be set to open Tiff in ACR. While I was somewhat wrong I was bassicly right. The script turns the layer into a Temp Tiff file and places it back in the document as a smart object layer the embedded object is a Tiff file. The temp Tiff file is nolonger needed for the smart object layer has a copy of it in its embedded object.

I recently purchased a Nikon P7800 camera. I am using a MacBook Pro computer and Adobe Photoshop CS6. Does Adobe have a plug-in/update that will allow me to open the camera raw files? If they do where do I find it to install it?

What version of Camera Raw are you currently using? You need at least version 8.3 but the latest version is 9.

How do I get a tiff to open in camera raw?

I am using PS CS6 with no updates pending on a 64 bit Windows 7 PC. I can see that camera raw is installed in About Plugins. I have looked at sevaral manuals and on-line help. The D600 was first supported in Camera Raw 7.3 which is only compatible with CS6 and later - not CS5 unfortunately.

.psd files dose not open with Camera Raw

I noticed that if you have a ".psd" file even if it is Flatten, it will not open in camera raw. I can easily save it to a Tiff or other formats and open it in camera raw, but I wonder why .psd file dose not open in camera raw

Yes, Trevor, you can indeed opened a non-layered PSD in Adobe Camera Raw—at least in perpetual-license CS6 and earlier, I don't know about the Cash Cow subscription version 14.x which I'm not going anywhere near.
What you cannot do is open a PSD in Camera Raw by double clicking on it. You just have to go through File > Open menu item and its dialog box.
Once you are in the Open dialog box, select the PSD file you want to open, go to the File Format button on the lower left-hand corner of said dialog box and from the list of formats available in the pop-up menu choose Camera Raw. The Open button on the lower right will become active and you can then open your file in Adobe Camera Raw.
Just be sure not to choose the "Photoshop Raw" format from that list of formats in the pop-up menu. "Photoshop Raw" has nothing to do with digital photography at all; it's an ancient, obsolete file format that no one should be using these days.

Have you opened Photoshop or any other Adobe app that Bridge works with? You need to do this if you've upgraded PS or just signed up for CC.

When I try to open a photoshop image it opens in camera raw

I store all my images in jpeg. Been doing my editing elsewhwere, but yesterday tried to use Adobe Bridge. I opened a jpeg image in camera raw and was unsuccessful in getting what I wanted. Now, when I try to open one of my jpeg images in Photoshop it opens in camera raw. If I click on open image it opens, but in a size that is incorrect and is useless. Help!!!!!!!

On a Mac ACR prefs are in Bridge / Adobe Bridge / Camera Raw Prefs or if you open a file in ACR at the top is a row of icons, if you choose the menu icon it also provides you those prefs.
I was wrong about PSD, that should have been Tiff btw...

If you select the image in Adobe Bridge you can choose File > Open in Camera Raw. Adobe Camera Raw will open the image using Bridge as the host application and you won't have to start Photoshop. There's no way to open Camera Raw without a host application.
If you can't find Adobe Bridge on your computer and you are a Creative Cloud subscriber, Bridge is one of the programs you can install using the Creative Cloud application.

I upgraded my camera and opening a camera raw file no longer works

I went from a Nikon D3000 to a Nikon D5200. I have an old version of Elements (version 8) and I no longer can open a camera raw file. I tried finding an answer in the support area but am not sure I found what I needed to know. Since my camera is new and didn't exist at the time I purchased Elements does that mean that my old version doesn't support my camera?

You need to buy PSE12 or Lightroom 5.
Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
