CS6 applications only work in admin accounts

iMacs, OS X 10.6.8, 4gb of ram:
Our district has a volume license of CS 6 Master collection. I recently started upgrading the iMacs in our computer labs to CS6, but the applications only work on the admin account. When I try to run the applications from a managed account, I get the user permission prompt stating that the user does not have permission to run the application.
If I select always allow, the application does not open.
If I click allow once, the application opens, but more permissions prompts come up for the applications specific components that have to run.
For Photoshop, for example, the user does not have permission for adobe_licutil, for AE, the mercury render engine, etc.
The application opens, but freezes (see error code below).
What I've done so far:
Ensured that the applications are checked off in the preferences so that the account has permission to run them, however, it appears that the user does not have permission for additional components which are not listed in system preferences and therefore cannot be checked off in system preferences. This did not work. The account has permission to run the apps but the same problems (1 & 2 above) persist.
Selected all of the application folders and changed the permissions in the terminal (chmod -rf 777 on all folders). The account has permission for all files/components.This did not work.
Changed the managed account to an admin account (allow user to adminster computer in system preferences) and all problems are fixed. All applications then open/run.
Solves the problem and all CS 6 apps run, however, we cannot have students use an account with admin privileges.
Changed the account back to a managed one, selected all CS 6 applications and utilities in the user account preferences, but the problems returned.
Any ideas on how this can be fixed?
All CS 6 applications result in the following error (the errors are essential identical, only the name of the application and reference to application specific components are different, not the entire log):

Not true. OD or AD accounts are Managed, but may also be admins. But this is not the case in my Mac labs. I am doing this via the local machine.

Just set the radio button (in Workgroup Manager, Applications) to "Never," save, and then start over using my method.

I did get Workgroup Manager to work, but unlike PC which allows you to OK a child app, WGM requires you to find the child app that fails and add it to the allowed application list."

It is all very simple. One more time, just allow following:
/Library/
/Applications/
Then just disallow any applications that you want.
The problem described here is that non-admin users cannot run Adobe Creative Suite 6, correct? So, if the users are not admins, then they cannot copy anything to those folders. Hence, there is no issue. They cannot run applications from any other folder, either. Test it.

I am installing os 10.6.8 into a master iMac Intel Duo Core (some one year olds and some 3 year olds) computer and am need to deploy onto computers in a lab for students. I click on Parental controls to limit their applications. I allow everything but System Preferences. When I log in as the student (a managed account) I cannot access Illustrator and some other Adobe products. I cannot access Safari, Firefox, and a host of others.
I get a message saying I'm not allowed to use the application and i get a dialogue box to say "Always Allow" but it never allows after I use admin pw to allow. It just keeps asking for the admin pw.
The account works fine is I don't limit applications but the students will have access to changing the system preferences and passwords for student logins.
The same thing is happening if I try to use 10.7.
Does anyone have this issue? Is there a fix for it? Is there a workaround? Anything?

Premiere Elements 9 - Playback only works on Admin account

Hi, I'm running Premiere Elements on a couple of iMacs 2.93GHz, Core i7, 8GB RAM, OSX 10.6.8. This is in a library so we have student accounts on all of our machines. Under the admin account Premiere works fine, no crashing and playback is working. However, on the student side whenever the same clip is trying to be played the playhead does not move, it sticks on the first frame and there is no audio. The only visible difference is that the play icon changes to pause. I was wondering if anyone would know a good way around this. I have tried the 9.01 patch to no success. It seems that the student side does not have permissions to some component. Hoping someone could shed some light on this issue. Thanks in advance.

SMB File Sharing only works for Admin Accounts???

I'm using a mac mini as a small file server. It will share files to WindowsPCs using SMB but there is a problem.
On the Option dialog where you select accounts to share files and folders using SMB only Admin accounts show up. This is far from ideal as I'd prefer to using Sharing Only or Standard accounts.
Is this a known issue? Is there a solution?

What permissions are you setting on the share? My guess is you are only using user, group, and other (POSIX). You need to add an ACL to the list and then set read/write or full control.

Adobe Air Application only works using Super Administrator account on Windows XP

i really need some help. I developed air application that uses remote service, sql lite etc. It is working on my computer WIndows XP sp2. To test, i even created a guest account and it works fine. But when i deployed it to our client, the application doest work. Only the login page appears. I ask the it personnel there and ask if there are any restriction on the account of the user and said there is none because they are using Domain account. Is this true that the Delegated Admin (DA) web application only requests first 100 accounts?
Once logged in to DA web application, we only see "Retrieved Users (100)" if we want to see all users; but if we do a search on uid or username, all other users are retrieved.
One of the admin gave us the following response:
This is not a directory-related problem, but rather a matter of the design of the DA application you are using. The web-based java app only requests the first 100 accounts from the directory (presented by default as 10 pages of 10 accoints each.) , since you're supposed to be using the search facility to find accounts when you need to modify or delete them.
This is a deliberate design choice by the Sun programmers who wrote the thing, probably because the directory is capable of holding several thousand accounts and pulling them all would take quite a bit of time (not to mention memory space), so in the interest of response-time speed they limited the data pull.
I cannot modify this application's functionality. If you need a list of all user accounts in your domain, I can supply an LDIF on request, with any attributes (mail, uid, cn, etc.) that you like.
Please let us know if there is any way we can view all users (approx. 1000) from DA web application.

Yes, the terminal commands I gave are changing permissions.
Properly written OS X apps should run under any user account, and should store any account-specific information in the each user's home folder. Some poorly written apps might only be executable by the administrator. Running the first command I have will make the app executable to all users.
Some even more poorly written apps will write user data into the application itself rather than to the user's home folder. This is a particularly bad problem with game software, which for example might write high score info into the app itself. If this is the case for your misbehaving apps, the second command I gave will make the app writable by everybody and should solve the problem.

Flash Player only works for the account that downloaded it

I downloaded flash player and did not specify any special preferences, however, it doesn't work for the 2 other accounts on the computer. It only runs for the Administrator account from which i downloaded it. I'm running XP professional. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

hi, i had already deleted cookies, temp internet files, etc;
i only have the IE pop up blocker and blocking level set at Medium;
it's the latest version of FP 10.0.45.2.
I installed this version a couple of weeks ago and it worked ok for all accounts (the other 2 accounts are not admin) for a week. Then, it stopped working for all accounts, i reinstalled it (some trial and error involved), then when it finally reinstalled, only works for the one account. i just tried to reinstall from one of the other accounts and error mssg said "failed to register"

Hi ol, I would go to Tools, click on Internet Options and clear the Temp files. Delete Cookies, Delete Files, including the off line content. I would do this using all accounts. Also check the history files while you are there and delete those also unless you have done so recently.
What version of Flash Player do you have Installed?
Do you use any adblock or pop up blocker software?

Repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the menu bar, quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
If that didn't help, install the v10.5.8 combo update.

Kids email app only works in Admin acc

(Warning: Tediously long message alert! I'm sorry about the length of this post. It's only about an email program for a 6 yr old, but I've spent so long trying to get it to work that I'm determined to make it work now!)
iMac G3 DV400 - OS X 10.3.9 - 320MB RAM
I have downloaded & installed a child friendly mail application called Mail4Kids ( http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/email_chat/mail4kids.html ).
It's a good application but I can only get it to work correctly in my Admin account. (& obviously I don't want to give my 6 yr old an Admin account!)
The symptons are:
Admin acc - On start-up Mail4Kids downloads any mail waiting on the server and then deletes it from the server. (I have checked this 'before & after' using Safari to look at my daughters webmail). Replying & sending of mail works correctly.
My acc (Standard, No Limits) - On start-up Mail4Kids starts to download any mail waiting but only downloads the first message waiting. The download arrows continue to 'revolve'. Checking webmail via Safari show that the message has not been deleted from the server. The message can be read and replied to. Sending of mail works OK.
If I click on 'Check Mail' the first message is downloaded again. If i click a second time the first message is downloaded a third time and I immediately get an error dialog box that states: "An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down." Clicking the 'OK' button causes the application to shut down.
My daughter's acc (Simplified, Simple Finder) - Same as my account.
I have searched the net but found very little regarding Mail4Kids. I searched again using 'An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled'. Most of the hits (for other apps) seemed to point to a quicktime issue or locked files.
I opened Mail4Kids and Activity Monitor & did an 'Inspect' - 'Open Files' in the Admin account and my own account. The open files were the same in both cases. I have pasted them at the end of this message. Using terminal I checked the file permissions on each path. They were all rwx for owner (Admin) and r_x for group and others.
I then did a 'Sample' of the process in Activity Monitor. The results were significantly different for the Admin account and my own account. I better not post the results here as they are quite long.
Can anyone help?

Using terminal I checked the file permissions on each path. They were all rwx for owner (Admin) and r_x for group and others.
Let me start by saying I've never even heard of Mail4Kid, but the above seems to indicate that the program needs to write some temporary files but can't since the program is owned by admin. Try changing the owner of all the files in the Mail4Kids application (it's really folder) to your username, (easily done via the command line with a 'chown -R' command) and then try to run it from your standard account. If that works try changing the ownership to your kids' username and then try running it from their limited account. HTH.

Admin password works within admin account, not in standard/managed account

My admin username and password work within my admin account but when I try to use them to override changes in my wife's or my daughter's standard / managed accounts it does not work. If I want to allow the application firewall or to change parental controls there is a request for an admin password. I know that the username and password are correct and the account has not been made a standard account by upgrading. I have read the other threads about the problems found by some users in 10.5 but this is different as it is definitely still an admin account, it just seems as if it not recognised as such outside the admin account itself.
Hope my description of this makes sense to someone. Any help would be appreciated.

Are your wife's or daughter's accounts using keyboard layouts that might be remapping some of the characters to a different key? Are any of these characters in the admin password?
Also, you should be using the "short" user name of the admin account when authenticating. Normally the short user name has no capital letters in it. Check the short user name in System Preferences -> Accounts.
Suggestion: Create a fourth account, make it an admin account, and then remove admin rights from your own user account. Unnecessarily running all the time as admin is bad security practice. Apple recommends only logging in to the admin account to do admin tasks, and doing all of your day-to-day work in a non-admin account.

Flash player only works for user account installed with

Hi all
I've different user accounts on my PC for me and my son.
Somehow Flash Player 10 only works for the user account I installed Flash player with.
In case I install it using my account it will not work for my son's account and vice versa.
How can I solve this?

I've struggled with this for a long time. Here is what I've come up with.
Adobe tech support recommended this:
1. Log in as Admin
2. Download the following zip file from here:
www.supportflash.com/reset_all.zip
3. Unzip this folder onto your desktop.
4. Drag both files ‘reset_min_all.cmd’ and
‘subinacl.exe’ to your
desktop.
5. Run the reset_min_all.cmd file.
6. It will open a DOS like terminal and start
running through registry
keys.
7. When it is finished it will say “press any key
to continue”.
8. At this point you can install the latest Flash
Player:

I can't recall whether I had to run this in each account or not. It somewhat worked for me. If the accounts were all set up as admin accounts, flash worked in all the accounts after that. If one account was admin and the rest were limitied (I'm running xp home) it wouldn't work in the limited account.
I gave up and reverted back to flash player 9 via NOrton go back
It must be a permissons issue of some sort. I just don't have the patience to figure it out.

Canoscan 5000F only working with admin

Hi,
I have installed ScanGear and CanoScan Toolbox for a CanoScan 5000F. I installed with my normal admin account. In this account everything works fine. I can scan with the Toolbox and also from Photoshop.
But with any other account (no matter if normal user or other admin account), whenever I try to scan, the applications I try with crashes. I have a crashlog, that I can provide, if it is of any help.
I have set everything, that the ScanGear installer installes to Read & Write for everyone. I also discovered, that admin had a Perferences folder for the CanoScan, that the other users did not have. I copied the prefernces and also set the permissions to Read & Write for everyone, but that didn't help either.
Could you give me some advice, what else to try. I know that the scanner works, since it works from the admin account, from which I installed.

Creative Cloud Desktop only works in root account

Mac 10.10.3
Can't open ACC desktop. nothing happened on the screen after clicking the icon. only an ACC logo (in grey) showed up in the status bar at the top but it disappeared quickly. Have tried:
1. Creative Cloud Cleaner
2. Safe Mode
3. clean OOBE, AAMUpdater folders
4. log in with another administrated user
Installed and opened successfully in root account, but still not working in my account (which is a administrator).
Please help me solve the problem. Thanks!

Kindly make sure that you have Read and Write permission on the folder mentioned below.

AE only starts on Admin account

Hi,
On my mac I have 2 accounts: an admin account and an other. Usually I work on the other. Since a week or two, my After Effects CC doesnt boot anymore on the other account but it still does on the admin...
No error messages, just a spinning wheel...
Also my CC desktop application does not open anymore in the other account...
Someone familliar with this problem?

TDM vi's work in Admin account, but not Limited user

I have an app that I wrote using the TDM VIs that works perfectly in the development environment and as an executable in an Admin account in WindowsXP. I am trying to deploy the app for use in a limited user account, and I am getting an error about an unrecognized file type. Is there a way to enable this functionality?
The VI is used to create a file map of a custom TDM file that was created using the TDM header writer VIs. I've included the VI and the executable in the archive, as well as a sample file to read (select the .tdm, not the .bin in the path control when running the program).
The actual error text is:
Error -2564 occurred at Open Storage
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: The software installed on this computer does not support the file format you requested. The Storage VIs access files through plug-in libraries LabVIEW and DIAdem install. Visit ni.com to download the library you need.

The TDMS VIs probably are better, but I started this project before they were available, and I spent a considerable amount of time with the TDM Header Writer VIs to create my file format. I don't use the TDM VIs to write the files; I do that all with my own binary format that is fast and efficient. I also stripped out all the extraneous gunk that the TDM files like to put in, and customized the files with my own properties. Unfortunately, I am disappointed with the time necessary to read and write properties, but it's too late now to replace the whole system with a database backend.
Anyway, I'm hopeful that there is a solution to this problem. I doublechecked all the options in the installer and app build specifications, and I didn't see the checkbox for Storage VI Support. I have a fuzzy memory of this; is it possible that it existed in a previous version of the builder?
