CS6 applications take ages to quit.

Hi Guys,
Just thought I would post this question/annoyance here to see if anyone knows of an easy fix!
I have the latest version of CS6 Design Standard installed on my iMac 2.7GHz i5 16GB RAM. I have no issues when actually running the programs but when I try to quit the programs (normally: InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator) at the end of the day they take about 5-10mins to quit!? This causes problems when I try to close my machine down because the shut down process keeps timing out.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Kind Regards
Dan

If you go to this page, Apple specifically states that performance enhancements for iPhone 4's are included in this update (scroll down to the bottom of the page).
Some folks may have found that their iPhones don't seem to work as well with iOS 7, but that generally means there were other issues that were present prior to the update & they are only just now coming to light.
If you still have issues after upgrading to iOS 7.1, the next thing to try would be to backup your phone & restore it as a new device, just to see if the issues clear up.
If yes, something on your phone is corrupt; if no, you may have a hardware issue that requires the phone to be replaced.

  • ITunes takes ages to quit?

I don't have any music in the iTunes library yet, but when I try to shut it down I get the spinning beach ball of doom for about 2 minutes before it actually quits? The GUI disappears instantly, but the application itself is still running (it still says iTunes at the top where it usually says 'Finder'...is that the menu bar??).

I tried that before asking (honest) and it didn't work, just tried it again and it did work.
    Thank you.

  • When I download Adobe's CS6 applications from the applications manager it takes way too long.  On my macbook I can download the same applications in about an hour or so.  With my new mac with tons of RAM it takes about 6 hours.  Can anyone help?

Basically I'm having trouble downloading Adobe's CS6 applications.  On my macbook it does it a lot faster than my more powerful imac.  I know someone who also has a mac who said something like fragmenting my memory.  Does anyone know how to do that.  I'm totally clueless.  Thanks.

    Curt-
    Thanks for the reply!
    Quick thumbnails: Yes, always
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT
The performance of the laptop has been great. It is a sony vaio that I bought 2 months ago and it has been very capable with CS3 photoshop, bridge and ACR. I load in thousands of raw files, cull them down to 600-800, apply quick develop settings with camera raw, and then batch all 800 through a fairly intense photoshop action. All of this runs great except when I want to rename or delete in Bridge. A little earlier I finally shut down bridge after letting it rename images for 3 hours and it had only renamed 7 files out of 700. (And I'm just trying to rename to Name_0001)
If you think I should run a performance check, I will. I'm just not familiar enough with Vista yet to know how.

  • After doing todays iWork 09 9.0.3 - saving takes ages....

    Hi Pages users and Legends
I did the update and now saving takes ages with the spinning beachball - any ideas?
    Thanks everyone
    Skip.

Follow these instructions to uninstall MacKeeper. They have been tested with the most recent version of MacKeeper (v 2.8). Earlier versions than the one released in 2012 require more extensive work to uninstall all its components.
The effects of having actually used MacKeeper to do anything are a completely different matter. The fastest way to take an exquisitely designed and painstakingly engineered Mac and make it run like a steaming pile of dung is to install and use such ill-conceived "cleaning" or "security" products. This is just one example of a broad category of time- and money-wasters capable of causing damage that can only be rectified by reinstalling OS X, restoring from a backup, or completely erasing your system and rebuilding it from the ground up. Never install such junk on a Mac.
If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.
You will be asked to authenticate (twice):
You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:
Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.
After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk.

  • The application Entourage has unexpectedly quit - every time I quit?

Ever since I upgraded to 10.3.9 I get the message "The application Entourage has unexpectedly quit" every time I close it out.
It hassn't seemed to have hurt anything, but I always wonder if it is not the first sign of an impending total system crash on my aging unit.
    POWERBOOK G4 Titanium (2002) Mac OS X (10.3.9) Entourage, v.10.0.0 (1309)
    POWEBOOK G4 Titanium   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

It is probably a coincidence that the problem coincided with your upgrade but do go to Microsoft's website and make sure your Office installation has the most recent update for your version.
The problem is probably being caused by your E'rage database being damaged. Quit E'rage and then restart while holding the option key. This will force E'rage to rebuild/repair the database which should take care of the problem.

    Can you help please?

Thanks King_Penguin for taking time to read and reply.
I just purchased this movie on Thursday, May 15, so just a few days ago.  I have never had any trouble whatsoever since I have been in Vietnam.  I have downloaded several movies and even music and they have all synced to my respected Apple products except for this purchase.
Sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean by studios and different versions.  Could you please explain?
I checked my purchased list in my purchase history under my account and there are no hidden items.

  • Google, Facebook etc take ages to load on Safari (and Firefox)

There have been a few threads on this issue...but none seem to have a solution that works for us.
We have two laptops (MacBook (MB) and MacBook Pro (MBP)) using an airport wireless.   The MP has all of a sudden decided that google and facebook will not load up straight away like they have always done in the past...they take ages to load up (we are talking "go get a coffee..and read the newspaper" times).  Other websites just fire up as fast as ever.   All sites fire up super fast on the MBP.
    What we have tried:
    1. Rebooted the modem, wireless router and computers
    2. Reset Safari, deleted and reinstalled Firefox 4.0.1.  Wiped out all caches , cookies etc
    3. Restored entire computer from time tunnel from a month ago...when life was good!
4.. Changed/added DNS numbers to airport (via airport utilities) and change the airport settings (using openDNS numbers).
    5. Flushed the DNS resolver caches...
    Still no good....
What are we missing?   What can the MB have to cause the issue that the MPB does not?
    MB is on OSX 10.5.8
    MBP is on OSX 10.6.7
Please help...my wife uses the MB and is angry that her beloved Facebook and Google are just not working

Ok.. from the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari, try Facebook.
If it's not Extensions...  try troubleshooting Safari third party add ons.
Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

  • Safari (and Adobe Acrobat Pro) take minutes to quit!!!

Safari 4.0.4 (and Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.2.0) take several minutes to quit on Mactel with Mac OS X 10.5.8. I thought that they had frozen after selecting to quit such applications, or logout, restart or shutdown the Mac, but if I leave the Mac for several minutes, they eventually quit.
What can it be? The Console does not indicate any special activity.

Thanks for the reply. Short answer: Safari, or Acrobat Pro.
In short, if I open Safari (or Acrobat Pro, or both), and quit them after a while (a few minutes or so), no problem. They quit as expected.
But if I open any of them (or both) in the morning (I cold boot the Mac in the morning and shut it down at night every single day) and try to quit any of them (Safari or Acrobat) at night, each one of them takes several minutes to quit. In fact, if instead of quitting them I try to shut down, I get the error:
"Logout has timed out" - "The application Safari failed to quit and is not responding"
    or
"Logout has timed out" - "The application Acrobat failed to quit and is not responding"
If then I leave the Mac idle a few minutes and them try to shut down the Mac again, it shuts down (this time, immediately; in one second or so).
IN SUMMARY. Something is preventing Safari (and the same for Acrobat Pro) to shut down normally in a few seconds. Instead, they need minutes to shut down.

  • Ipad3 takes ages to load new emails

Hi, I have an iPad 3 and an IPhone 4, and since last week they both take ages to download any new emails, 5 to 7 minutes to open an email.
I went on my PC and it works fine, it's only on my apple products, tried warm reboot, connecting to iTunes etc, but still really slow.
Looked all ver the net but can't find anything about it.
    cheers  steve:-)

I have no idea what a warm reboot is but have you tried a reset?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Another thing that you could try is to quit the mail app completely (double tap the home button to get to the task bar and tap and hold down on the Mail icon until it wiggles, then tap the minus sign to close the app) and then restart the iPad and see if that helps.
One other thing - turn the mail account off, restart the iPad, then turn the account on again and see if that helps. Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Mail>Off.

  • Commit changes takes age

    Hello,
I dragged a data provider in the ui, it works well, but when I do:
    addressesDataProvider.commitChanges();
it takes about 25 seconds to complete.
I tried with the simplest page, without any change to dataprovider or rowset but all call to commitChanges takes age.
Any idea where it could comes from?

Hunnia895 how extensively have you utilized the AppDelete App?  I would recommend that in the future you please utilize the uninstallers located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.
At the moment it is difficult to determine what affect AppDelete may have had.  I would recommend you complete the following steps to reset your Creative Cloud experience.
Run all available uninstallers in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
Run the CS Cleaner tool to verify the uninstall has been successful.  You can find details at CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

i have both ubuntu and win xp
in xp firefox runs fine but in ubuntu(lucid) although i ave a good broadband speed of abt 1Mbps and the usual download speed goes to abt 200 to 250 Kbps the web pages take ages to load about 2 min for yahoo home page to load i have updated with the update manager
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

Try a clean install of Firefox on your Linux machine.
    # Close Firefox completely. (File->Exit on Windows/Linux, Firefox->Quit on Mac)
    # Rename the Firefox installation folder or move it elsewhere.
*Linux: The install location varies based on distribution and installation method. Linux distributions usually don't put Firefox in its own folder, so this method can't be used.
    3. [www.getfirefox.com Download Firefox] again and install it
    [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Linux Installing Firefox in Linux]
If this fixes the problem, you can optionally check the old install folder for global extensions, components, or corrupt/locked files.

  • I have a graphics 2D object which takes ages to draw....

I have made a graphics 2D object which draws rectangles of sizes (5,5) accross the width and height of the screen on at a time.
As you can imagine, this takes ages!!!
does any one have an idea of how to make this quicker without sacrificing the resolution???
    thanks!

well, withought code I just can give you some tipps:
    * don't create a new Color in the loop, try to share it
    * try to paint rectangles with same color at one time -> minimize the time how often setColor is called
    * do not create new Objects (like Color) in your paint-loop, share share share...
btw. I would cache it in an image, otherwise everytime the window-content is invalidated (which can happen quite frequently) your slow drawing code is called.
btw2. I can't smell your mistakes over the net, already told you to show your rendeing code.

Since I've updated my iPad to iOS 6 it's running a lot slower especially when I scroll up and down and takes ages to load up on the App Store I know they got glitches but are they gonna be sorting this out as well ?

    Hi!
I am also having issues with the device since updating to IOs 6. The time between clicking an icon, i.e. a picture, and the load of that picture takes longer enough to notice it. It did not happen before the update.
I am also having problems with some applications, specially the Facebook application. When I click on my picture in the right bar of the app, it promps a window that ask me for share my location, etc.. and get freeze there.
Regarding reseting the device, already done. It did not helped.
Also, SIRI is very nice, but sometimes it stop working and I have to re-start the device in order to being able to use SIRI again. When it happens, it looks like SIRI is sending the information, but does not do anything after.
It is understandable that they require some time to get the new IOs version working properly, but I dont like to be a Beta tester.

  • FAST enabled MView takes ages to refresh

    Hi All,
I have a materlialized view which is based on a single fact table ( OAS_BALANCE_UNIONED 11,445,156 rows) and a bunch of dimension tables each containing limited number of rows (a typical start schema).
The conditioins to make the mview fast refreshable have been met so the mview created successfully with the FAST option.
The mview then worked just fine after than and had been refreshing FAST (6 minutes) for the whole day till other mviews started to refresh in the same time. Some of those mviews read from some of the base tables of the mview in question. Since then, the mivew has started to take ages (3 hours) to refresh. There is surely something wrong because the COMPLETE refresh was faster than that.
Later, I stopped all the refresh jobs of the other mviews. Yet, the FAST mview still has the same problem of taking ages to refresh.
When I monitored the session that refreshes the mview, I noticed in the "Long Ops" that
most of the time is spent on a step named as "Hash Join" (it appears in the Message column). Hash join occurrs because of the outer join.
Why my FAST mview suddenly started to take so long time to refresh?
How can I make my FAST mivew really refresh fast?
