CS6 Background changes in Windows 8

My background in CS6 changes after upgrading to Windows 8.  I have checked all of my settings but can't change the constant changing from solid Gray to checkerboard.  I have the latest drivers for my video card and this is a system dedicated to imaging.  This never happened in Win7.  You can see the difference in these two screen shots.  Any ideas?
Thanks in advance......
Victor

You're welcome.  Glad to hear it helped you.
I think even with the latest ATI cards there are driver problems (not to mention driver problems in Windows 7 as well).  I have a 7850 on Windows 8 and have had to stick with Catalyst 12.8 drivers since 12.10 and newer have serious problems.  Needless to say, ATI is scrambling to get their drivers squared away.
Keep in mind if you switch brands, the task of ferreting out the drivers from the old card is a little more than trivial (though I have heard there are some good driver sweeper type programs).

  • Cannot change JToggleButton background color when Windows XP theme is used

I wanted to change the background of a JToggleButton when it's pressed. I tried a few things, such as
    UIManager.put("ToggleButton.select", Color.RED);

  • Change default Windows background during deployment

I have a Windows deployment server up and running and deploying custom Windows 7&8 images which all work fine. I want to be able to change the default Windows background to a custom image during deployment so when a new user is created and logs in locally,
my image is displayed rather than the default one. I know this can be done by changing an entry in the registry, but I would like some help in creating a script to do this during deployment and also where this script would have to be placed and how to run
this. I am a noob at scripting and any help would be appreciated! ;)
    Thanks in advance

I am using the process documented at the link below in my builds today with a lot of success. In addition to setting the background for every user, it will also allow for setting the colors and accents. Pretty good stuff from the guys at CoreTech.

  • Photoshop CS6 Display issues - After Windows 8 upgrade

Just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro (64bit).  Now the background interface in Photoshop CS6 keeps changing when I click the image, the background, the layer and the crop tool.  I get transparent, black and various grey.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled PS CS6 with no change.  I did not have an issue in Windows 7.  The rest of CS6 runs fine. Can anybody help?  Thanks

What is the make and model of your video card?
What is the number and date of the installed video driver?
Is that the latest release from nVidia, or AMD/ATI?
If it is not the latest, go to the nVidia, or AMD/ATI Web site, plug in your card, and your OS, then download and install the latest driver. Test.
Do not trust Windows, or any utility to tell you if you have the latest driver. Verify that from the mfgr's. Web site.

  • Desktop background changed to black

After closing Photoshop CS6 my desktop background  had turned to black. I had been playing around with the background color choices in the program before i exited.
Winsows 7 starter edition SP 1
    1 GB Ram
    ATI 7800 video card

I didn't even think you could set a desktop background image in Windows 7 Starter.  Did you do something out of the ordinary to get it there?  Or are you saying you had a different solid color?
In any case, it's hard to imagine changing Photoshop settings had anything to do with that.  Any chance you actually changed the desktop color by accident, thinking you were changing Photoshop's background?  What dialog were you using to "play around with the background color choices"?

  • My Mac's background changed to white and i can't change it back

    Dear anybody,
Yesterday I plugged in my external harddisk, and I just moving some folders from one partition to another. then in the middle of progress, it opened an error window and the external hd disappeared from my desktop icon and finder. I tried to plugged out and plugged in again but it's not recognized until I restarted it. and the process of restarting takes about 5minutes (it's not usual since I just need about 30-60secs to reboot my mac). then I logged in and my background changed to white. I thought it was missing my bg pict, then I searched for the picture and set it again as desktop background but nothing happened. it's still white. but the strange is when I press f9 or f10 button (expose), I saw the picture on my background and a lot of windows exposed, then when I click one of the window, it disappeared again, changed to white.
so, please anybody who had ever gotten this kinda problem, help me out. Thanks for your attention!

  • Screen light auto turn dark when I use program/web with background dark in windows 8.1

    Hi there,
I used HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 CTO Quad for 3 years.
    CPU: Intel core i7-2630QM
    GPU: AMD Radeon 6490m
It build in windows 7 and I manual install ( fresh install ) windows 8. It's fine. But when I upgrade to windows 8.1, it have an issue and I really hate it.
When I use "Sublime Text" ( with background is black ), the screen light is become darker. And when I back to ( e.g: a website with background is white ), the screen turn back to lighter.
I tried many ways, included 4 ways here but it's NOT WORK.
    NOTE: When I used Option 1 ( upper )
    1. Open PC settings, and click/tap on PC and devices on the left side
    2. Click/tap on Power and sleep on the left side, and turn on or off Adjust my screen brightness automatically on the right side under Brightness.
==> It's NOT SHOW button "Adjust my screen brightness automatically". It mean: I have NO built in auto brightness sensor.
I think this issue is about AMD driver or Intel Graphic driver.
    Is anybody have idea???

i grasp that after updating your system from Windows 8 to 8.1 you are having an issue with the display going dim.
You have tried some steps you located on the web but there was no change.
Windows 8 an 8.1 are not supported Operating Systems for your notebook.  This does not mean they will not work only that HP has not tested it and therefore does not supply updated drivers.  You would need to check the manufacturer's site for any updated drivers.

Every time I turn my mac off, the desktop background changes. It always returns to the same picture, which was the second or third thing I changed my desktop to after getting my mac. I have background switching unchecked in my preferences, and I have never selected it as an option. Also, when I go to my preferences, it will show the icon of the picture I changed it to, even though the desktop itself has switched back.

I would start with some basic troubleshooting.

NOTE: refer to article "About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature" found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1452 - for the actual apple article on these step. ----
    - click finder in the bottom dock, and in the window that opens, select applications in the left column - scroll through until you see the 'Utilities' folder and double click to open it.  Then double click on 'Disk Utility'
    - When prompted to select a disk volume or image, select the 'Macintosh HD' in the left column
    - ensure the the "first aid" tab is highlighted blue in the middle of the screen

  • X220 log-in screen changed to Windows 7

My X220 laptop arrived two days ago and the log-in screen (before going to the desktop) changed from a black background with the word THINK to the regular Windows 7 background.
In the two days that I have had my computer, I was loving the black background with the word THINK everytime I signed into my computer. I just wish I had it back. Is there any way to get this screen back?
    Solved!

Yup I did change to a Windows theme, and that was what caused my log-in screen to change. Thank you for that. All is good now. I reverted back to the default theme, and changed it's background to my liking.

  • Please help ASAP! I downloaded an app to change the Windows 10 login screen & now the screen flashes

I downloaded Windows 10 Login Background Changer and now when my laptop starts I can't even get to the login screen. After the Acer screen at startup, it says "Please Wait...." but then the screen just flashes continually. Please help ASAP! Thank you!

I did the exact same thing and had a very similar issue (flashing lock screen and couldn't get past the lock screen). I tried a system restore, resetting my PC, doing a clean install of Win10, and both methods of booting in SafeMode -- none of these methods worked. Called Microsoft several times; Level 1 tech told me to do a USB installation of Win10 (couldn't get my laptop to restart the way the USB installation needed); Level 2 tech told me to do a USB installation of Win8.1 (again did not work because my laptop could not restart properly). Gave up with tech support. The only way i was able to fix this problem was by choosing the "restore PC to factory settings" option. All your files and programs will be lost, but all of mine were already lost anyway after I tried doing a clean install of Win10. My laptop (S7-392) restored to Win8; I updated all my drivers and then made a recovery drive; did a USB installation of Win8.1, updated drivers and made another recovery drive. I have since done a USB installation of Win10 and upgraded my drivers. IF the same issue happens again i'll just end up reverting back to Win8.1 for a while.

  • Desktop Background changes on it's own after login

    Hi everyone!
Ok I have a small but annoying issue with my iMac.
First thing's first, I am using OS X Leopard 10.5.6. I have also enabled "Enable fast user switching"
in System Preferences under the User Accounts menu.
I have my desktop background set to "Change picture every 5mins" & that is working perfectly fine,
however I notice that when I go to the Login window by clicking the "fast user switching" icon on
the top right-hand menu, then logging in back to my account, my desktop background changes to
a default picture that my computer selects each time I log back in. This picture is not even in the
folder of pictures that I use for my "Change picture every 5mins" setting. By the way this picture is one of the pre-loaded ones from Apple; it's from the nature series, the one seen in the latest 17" Macbook Pro ad, anyone seen it? Here's the link: http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/#ad
Is anyone else having the same issue? I would appreciate any help anyone can provide!
    Thanks!
    zwan

    Hi lewisspindlove,
    Thanks for your input,
it doesn't happen when i have my desktop in a "single picture" mode, and,
it doesn't happen on other accounts, because besides mine(Admin), there is only
the Guest account and this does not occur on that account.
I tried your method of removing the wallpapers folder from Libary, then I
noticed that the computer will select ANY image which I last used when in
"single picture" mode, not "Change picture every 5mins" mode.
For example, let's say I have a picture which I saved in the Documents folder,
and I use that in "single picture" mode; after which I revert back to the folder which contains the pictures I want for "Change picture every 5mins" mode (which is stored somewhere else).
If i go to the Login window & log back in again, the computer selects the picture
I last used (the one in the Documents folder) as my background, BUT, after 5mins the picture changes to the ones I'm using for "Change picture every 5mins".
I hope I'm not confusing everyone!
This is a complicated & weird but ANNOYING problem!
Any ideas if an Archive & Install would help? Does that erase all of my stored data on my HDD?

In addition to having old hardware, we have Verizon FIOS providing internet and TV access.  Is there any way to make this work for us?  We would like to stream video (Netflix) and view shows from the Web.  Do we need Apple TV to do this?  Or is it not possible with our old iMac?  My husband thinks that our Airport could be a factor.
    Thank you

Lately, I have been seeing a lot of posts with users trying to use their Macs/iMacs to mirror their streaming video from their Macs to an HDTV.
There are, actually, many alternatives to choose from than just from a Mac.
You need to have or invest in a WiFi capable router for all of these examples.
Apple TV only integrates with WiFi and newer Mac hardware. So, if you want to have total integrated experience, if you have a 2011 Mac or newer, you might as well pay the $100 for the AppleTV box.
If you have a older Mac, like I have noticed many users do, then you have other options.
If you want to elimate long cable clutter and having your Mac at the mercy of your TV all of the time,  you can still use the AppleTV box independently or purchase cheaper alternative media streaming boxes from Roku, Sony, Boxee or any number of electronics manufacturers that now have media streaming boxes and media streaming capability built into DVD/Blu-ray players.
These eliminate long cable clutter by being close to the HDTV where shorter, less expensive cables can be used.
Another alternative for iPad users is to use an iPad with the USB/HDMI video adapter and use your iPad as the streaming box. This ties up your iPad in much the same way as it does with your Mac, but again the iPad can be close to the TV and use minimal cables to the TV.
Another alternative to is to use a combination of an iPad and your Mac to stream content that is only available to stream online from a computer. In this case, you can use a desktop remote app on your iPad and Mac. A good and cheap Desktop Remote app is Splashtop Remote. This allows you to completely connect your iPad remotely, over Wifi, to your iMac desktop. The app streams both video and sound to the iPad which is still connected to your HDTV. The resultant stream video picture will be smaller than the size of your HDTV, but it will still be plenty large enough to watch. Again, if you own a iPad and an Intel Mac, this method also allows minimal cabling to the TV.
