CS6 batch save for web: saving in seperate folders

Hello everyone,
I created a Photoshop action that slices images into singular pixels. Afterwards the files are "saved for web". I created a droplet so that I can use this action on multiple files. My question is: can photoshop save all the images that are created with one action in one seperate folder so that everytime an action is finished a new folder is created?
I don't know if this is very clear. Feel free to ask if you need more information.
Thanks in advance.
Marius

  • PS CS6 action save for web error

In Photoshop CS6 actions when we save the image as JPEG through save for web it doesn't work when we run it, instead it runs and saves the image as HTML, i guess some error in it. I tried it again and again but it doesn't remember my save for web settings and saves the images as HTML.

It a new bug in CS6 though when you recorded the action you saved jpeg images to you desktop and you only entered file names onto the save for web action steps the action recorder recorded name.html.  I replaced you save for web steps on my machine for my desktop and CS6 recorded  name.html.  I then did the same with CS5 though I only entered names CS5 recorded name.jpg.
If you expand the export steps tou will see the hard coded file names and extention
An action like this will always save the same files it can not be batch because you recorded Path and Names in the save for web steps.  The .html files saved on with CS6 are actually jpeg files and if you rename them hrom name.html to name.jpg you can use them,

  • When batching Save for Web, Illustrator also saves copy of .ai file

This question was asked and abonadoned here, so I'm posting because it's also happening to me.
    CS4 & CS5 (I tried both), Mac OS 10.6
    1. I select the "Save for Web PNG" action, which is part of the default set, and select "Batch."
    2. I choose a source folder and choose a destination folder, and check "Override Action 'Save' Commands."
    3. Illustrator then performs the Save for Web action, but puts the .png files in the original destination specified in the action. It also puts copies of the .ai files in the destination folder I created and specified in the Batch dialog box.
I want the .png files in my folder, and I don't want copies of the .ai files.
Pulling my hair out on this one, going to lunch. Thanks in advance for any help

Ah, ok. That worked, for the most part. When I used "Folder" as the destination, my jpegs were saved to that folder, but I also got the .ai copies again. Argh. It was only when I chose "Save and Close" as the destination that I got just the jpegs.
So "Save for Web" is actually a type of export, rather than a save. It's confusing, since the action is called "Save for Web…"  Plus, the batch works — in the original way I set it up — with a regular Save command.
btw, the top section only goes gray when "Save & Close" is selcted (see screen shot). Thanks for your help.

  • Photoshop CS6. Save for Web Problem - Don't remember folder location

    Hi!
Found one more problem with Save For Web in Photoshop CS6.
    Example:
    1. New Document
    2. Choose - Save for web
    3. In dialog window Photoshop CS6 offer to save in - os My Document Folder
    4. Ok, every time I don't really need to save in os folders - I save files to my folders. So, change folder ...for example to disc D
    5. Create another New document
    6. Choose Save for web
    7. And.... - Photoshop CS6 offer to save my file in os My Documents AGAIN !!!
So, in fact it's real uncomortable!!! ...if I save different files for web frequently ....I need every time change My Documents....it makes me nervous.......
Here - compare with CS3: CS3 remember "old" folder location even at another session (for example - after reload os)
Is there any fix this problem?
    p.s. Testing on:
    OS - windows 7 64 bit
    cs6 - 64 bit extended
    cs3 - 64 bit extended

Noel, Yes! In your example everything works like on your video. May be my explanation was not so clear, so...I'm trying to describe in more details.
I don't know how to make video & animated gif by capture the screen...so I'll try to explain by words
    1. Start CS6
    2. Make New Document
    3. Save for Web (save parametres are: JPEG, HIGH etc....I think it doesn't matter)
    4. CS6 offer "My Documents"
    5. Change the way to "Disc D"
    6. Save it by name for example "Untitled-1".... & close window "Save for web"
    7. Choose "Save for Web" again
....So, at this step - CS6 remember my current location "Disc D" even I open other file & use command "Save for web"...it saves to Disc D. Everything is ok.
    ....continue:
    8. Shut down the CS6
    9. Run it again
    10. Create new file or....even open saved file on disc D in previous session - "Untitled-1"
    11. Save for Web
So, it's final: CS6 offer the "My documents" AGAIN
    ....continue:
    12. Run CS6 - Make New File - Save for Web to disc D by name "Untitled-1"
    13. Keep the photoshop session & create new document...let's call it "Untitled-2" - so, now I have 2 files opened in CS6: "Untitled-1" (it was saved on disc D before) & new "Untitled-2"
    14. So if I'll try to save second file "Untitled-2" fo web CS6 offer the way "My documents" AGAIN!
p.s. Tryied to do the same on CS3 - Shut down CS3 2-3 times, opened different files, create new docs - there's no trouble. In global - CS3 remember last way (in my case it's "Disc D") & doesn't change it by itself. In fact working in CS3 I din't feel any problems with this command "Save for Web", that's the reason I didn't write any questions on forums etc..... But starting to try CS6 I really feel it makes the work to change every time the folder ways not so comfortable...so I wrote the question here
p.s. 2    In spite of I didn't work in CS4-CS5 cause it were not comfortable in my opinion....now I wanted to  test "save for web" in CS5. Trouble is the same even during one session:
    1. Run CS5
    2. Create new document
    3. Save for web - CS5 offer "My Dociment", change it to "disc D" - save - ok
    4. Shut down, run CS5 again
    5. Create New, or even Opened old saved file to disc D (for example from step 3) - CS5 offer the way "My documents" again
I hope this my explanation was more clear to understand

  • Batch Save for Web using CS5

    Hello All,
Im trying to process 1200 images that need to be saved for the web.
I have opend the first images in CS5 which is 84.6kb
    i have then clicked "create new action" -> Shift + Ctrl + Alt + S -> Save (quality 75%)
then i have stopped the action recording.
Ive now gone into File -> Automate -> Batch
In there i have picked the action, the source folder and destination.
When i run the batch action the images appear in the destination folder but they have not been compressed.
Any ideas on what i am doing wrong?

  • Batch Save For Web

How can I batch process Save For Web (from 300 dpi) in CS6?

    Hi Rhondavous1,
Although not exactly what you are asking, I would recommend just using the Image Processor instead. It seems odd to me that you would want to use (save for web, for use on the web) and (300 dpi, usually for printing). You could create an action that goes through the appropriate save and resample commands and then use the Batch command but using the Image Processor is easier.
    These might help:

  • Illustrator Batch - Save for Web PNG - File won't close

I am trying to convert several AI / EPS files to PNG file at 800 px.
I've tried using a batch incorporating either export as PNG and Save for Web  - and neither on is working well.
The batch I built simply transforms the graphic to 800 px - Save for Web - then closes the file. Or exports the file as PNG at 800 px.
The problem is that the Save for Web Dialog box opens up each time or it simly doesn't export a file. I've tried checking off the various different surpress options in the batch dialog box - but nothing seems to work.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your answer but the images are not for web.
I need to enlarge them because they have a lot of detail and I need to send them to someone to be checked. The only place I can save as Gif is on the "Save for Web"  dialog and Gifs have the smallest size/best quality ratio for the images I need.
I don't understand why when executing the batch process it stops at the "save window" waiting for me to click on "Save".
    Nevertheless, thanks anyway

  • Batch Save for Web in illustrator

    Hi,
I'm trying to make a batch to process 110 illustrator files and save them as Gifs.
I record the Action (which includes "Save for Web" (enlarge to 1000*1400), Save, and then Close the Ai file (which I think is not even necessary if you choose "Save and close" in the Destination area of the batch window).
When I play the Action it performs "Save for Web", etc, but it doesn't save the Gif file, it waits for me to press the Save button.
It seems stupid but I want the batch to save the file by itself and carry on with next one.
Is this possible or do I have to press the save button for every file.
    Thanks in advance
    Jimmy

  • How can I batch Save For Web and maintain a multilevel folder structure?

First... I am using an old version of Photoshop.... 6.0 to be exact.  If your answer is to buy the newer versions, I respectfully say I know that's AN answer, but I'm looking for something that will work with my setup.  The version we have works just fine for the very few things we need it for, and we use new versions of InDesign and Acrobat for all else.
    So here's the challenge:
We have a weekly magazine featuring 1,200 plus photos of cars for sale, each saved in a folder named for the sales rep, week and day.  I must maintain these folder structure throughout the process, as the files names are duplicated by cameras and across reps.  So I cannot dump all batch converted pics into one single folder, yet I need to reduce the Quality setting which I find when completing a Save As in Photoshop.
So I want to batch convert all the photos in multiple folders, some 3 folders deep, all at once....  reduce to 8 inches across, change to 72dpi, and reduce the quality slider to 5, which creates a nice 60-90K file.  BUT.... it wants to save all of them in a particular folder.  I need to just overwrite the original file with the new smaller one.... or save the new small version into the same folder the big one is in, but have it work with the "include all sub-folders" option in batch.
    A sample File system .... 4513 Photos - Color <day of week> (3 folders) - <disk number><rep>Color (20 folders) - actual photos.
After converting, we push up the final level of folder to our website and that organization allows us to use them there the way we need.  The uploading to the site and batch functions are done 3 to 4 times per week.... on different days.
Is there a way to reduce the quality (compression) of the jpgs that does not require the creation of a new file in a particular folder, or is there a way to have the resulting file just drop back into the folders and subfolders during a batch function?  I just can't figure this out!
As an alternative, what other programs might do this?

You should be able to just use the html output of the Export for Web function and, if the video's converted correctly, just swap the file names at the appropriate places. Have you tried renaming VisualHub's output to what the Export for Web html wants, then placing it in the proper location?
I'm not aware of a way to batch create the html files, but if I had to, I'd probably look at automator to see if I could figure out it's text manipulation options.

  • I am using adobe photoshop cs6. I am facing a problem. When i save any image as "save for web". After saving image it show cropped. An image show many parts of the image after saving the image. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

I am using adobe photoshop cs6. I am facing a problem. When i save any image as "save for web". After saving image it show cropped. An image show many parts of the image after saving the image. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Just go back in photoshop and use the Slice Select tool, then just click and select the slice and hit delete - if you're not sure which one is the active slice just right click and find the one that has the Delete Slice option.
It's possible you either added the slices by accident or if you received it from someone they just had the slices hidden. For the future, you can go to View > Show > Slices to display (or hide) slices.

  • Saving Sliced files in Illustrator CS6 like it was in CS5 "Save for web and devices" gone?

    Hello,
I used to save all my slices in CS5 and it would give me the option to save for web and devices, then when I was in there it would let me choose the option at the bottom Other... then I could go in and save it as a html and images and then it would automatically make div's for me when I brought it in to dreamweaver.  Where did this option go in CS6?  Can someone help I am on a big deadline, and I lost all my work transfering it back into cs5 to try it there like I used to.  Attached is a .png to show what I mean.
    Thank you,
    DariusB
These options are not here in CS6 and I cant find it.  I would really appreciate the help.
    Thanks again.

    Hi,
There have been some other changes too - here is the link to the article that describes the changes: http://blogs.adobe.com/ivandavid/illustrator_cs6_save_for_web/.

  • Override action "save as" command with save for web batch processing

    Hi everyone,
I've created an action that uses the save for web dialogue to optimise images for the web. When I use the batch command to process a full folder of images, even though I have "Override action "save as" command" checked, it ignores this and still uses the location that was used when the action was created.
Apparently this is a known issue in CS6 and previous versions but I wondered if anyone knows whether this has been fixed in Photoshop CC?
    Appreciate any advice.
    Thanks

Since save for web is an export plugin, none of the destination options have any effect on where the files are saved
    or the file names.
Save for web only saves the files to the folder specified when you recorded the action.
(it's always been that way and still is in photoshop cc)
You might look at the Image Processor Pro
(included in Dr. Brown’s Services 2.3.1)
(has a save for web option)

  • Is it possible to run a Save for Web Batch?

I am trying to run a batch on a bunch of ai files to save them as JPEG using Save For Web & Devices (so they can be saved with certain settings).
I record a Save For Web action and then try to run a batch, but the batch just hangs at the Save For Web Dialog and waits for me to hit one of the Save/Cancel/Done buttons before continuing. Is there a way around this to get this so it can be a true batch process and not require me to interact with it?
    Thanks

Ahh! That was it! Well, part of it.
Now I got it saving, but I can't seem to override the target directory using the batch, but thats ok.
    Thanks!

  • Recording Save for Web in an Action still doesn't work properly in Photoshop CS6 13.0.1

There is still an issue with making new actions that include saving for web. While recording the action, save for web functions as it should. But once the action is played, regardless of the original format the saved image should be, it gives it an html filename extension. This can be extremely frustating when you have an action that saves over a hundred images from a single action.
I have seen posts in Adobe forums from many people regarding this very irritating bug, including posts from Adobe employees acknowledging the bug. This was present in the Beta, the initial release, and in this 13.0.1 update. No fix.
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/ps_cs6_actions_recorded_action_expor ts_html_instead_of_jpg
The employee acknowledged this bug THREE months ago (as of this post), yet all things considered, this doesn't seem like something that would take three months to fix!
I have spoken about this bug with a friend that is a computer programmer. Considering that the action is saving the file correctly, and it's only the name that is not saving properly indicates that this is a superficial error, and not an issue that would require rewriting the code completely. Also consider that this WAS functioning properly in CS5, and that this is a very easily reproducible bug. Adobe should have plenty of information required to correct the issue. I understand that this fix may be more or less difficult to do than what I am suggesting, but it should have been fixed by now.
I don't understand this mentality. Please Adobe... Put CS7 down for a little while, and fix what needs to be fixed in CS6. People (myself included) have paid A LOT of money for your products, it's not unreasonable to expect them to work properly. Bugs happen, it's understandable, but it's not unrealistic to expect a fix for them when the software is as expensive as it is. Is there actually any plan to correct this issue?

  • Batch doesn't seem to work with Save for Web

Using Photoshop CS3 on Leopard. This should be simple: I want to create thumbnail images of a folder full of PDFs.
I create an action that opens the PDF, opens the first page at a width of 200 pixels, flattens it, Save for Web at 60% quality, and closes without saving.
I simply cannot run this action on a folder of PDFs without it trying to overwrite the same filename each time. 'Override Action "Save As" Commands' checkbox makes no difference, nor does choosing a different folder as destination.
What am I doing wrong? I've been trying everything, and searching the web, for nearly 2 hours.
    francois

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried it, but there are two problems:
    1) I use the "First page only" setting, but in some of my PDFs, it comes out with a double-page spread consisting of the last page and the first page.
    2) File sizes are much too big. If I use Save for Web at 60% quality, the same file comes to 16K, and with this script, 100KB. (This is for web use.)
I doubt that the script could be adapted to fix these problems, so I'm still hoping somebody can advise how to make Photoshop's Batch function work correctly.
