CS6 Blackmagic

Hello everyone,
I'm having a serious issue and I was hoping someone on the forum maybe able to help.    Here's the specs before I get to involved:
HPZ800
Windows 7 64-bit Pro
Dual 6 core Xeon X5690 3.47Ghz Processors
48GB Ram
128GB SSD C:
5TB RAID 5  D:
Blackmagic Decklink HD extreme 3D
Nvidia Quadro6000
GSpeed es RAID Controller card
1200W PS
Liquid Cooled
We have 6 of these machines and all are identical.  2 of these machines are currently running CS5.5 and the other 4 have been upgraded to CS6.  1 of those running CS6 continually gets Blue Screens of Death.  This particular machine was performing incredible until it was upgraded to CS6.  The other 3 machines with CS6 have not had a BSOD and are performing great.
When I check the minidump file, I get SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and it states that decklink.sys is culprit stating: "This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.  It has occured using both After Effects (When left at a standstill for more than 5 minutes) and Premiere Pro (When opening a new project).
I have also received another BSOD with the error of DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE related to the following module: ntoskrnl.exe.  At the bottom of this particular minidump it states "Possible this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time."
Using the system image created at first boot, I have re-installed the OS.  I have uninstalled CS6, run the adobe cleanner and re-installed CS6.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Blackmagics latest drivers compatible with CS6.
I have searched these forums along with any related to the Decklink card as well as microsoft forums for the past week and can find nothing related to these occurences.  Is anyone else having any problems with the compatibility of Blackmagics Decklink HD extreme 3D and CS6?  And now that you have thoughfully read this post, any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

the nvidia driver 320.xx may be not working correctly. you may de-install it and install the 314.xx instead.

  • What size for OS/apps SSD and scratch disk SSD ?

    Hi !
I need a SSD for my OS with the full CS6 Cloud and few others apps (but no games, pictures, songs or other personnal stuff),
    that's mean between 70 and 80Gb. So I think I'll need only a 128Gb for that.
I also need a scratch disk, so despite I prefer a fast and large disk like the Barracuda 3Tb, I read it will be better to take a SSD.
My workstation is a 6x core, with 64Gb RAM, and 6x HDD for projects, render and footage (4K R3D and 1080p PRORES).
    My questions are :
    1) OS/apps SSD :
Even if I only need 80Gb (or a few more like 90Gb max) of storage, do I need to take more than 128Gb ?
Is it possible that the OS fill my disk with lots of temporary files ?
And the same for Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects or others apps ?
I know those apps will use the scratch disk, but maybe others temporary files will be write on this OS/apps drive ?
    2) scratch disk SSD :
Like I said, I prefer larger drives, but as I understood, SSD will be better for preview and temp files,
and actually I'm working with 4K R3D footages and 1080p PRORES.
So do you think 128Gb will be enough for a scratch disk, to use with CS6, Blackmagic Resolve, and others 3D apps, like Maya ?
Of course I can empty them regularly.............. but is it enough ? Or 256Gb, or higher will be better ?
Or just a fast WD Velociraptor 1Tb or even a cheaper Barracuda 3Tb hard drive will be good enough ?
    Thanks guys.

    Thanks for your fast reply.
But, I'm confused.... if the OS and the apps can fill my disk with lots of temp files, how a 128Gb can be enough ??
Maybe you mean that those apps will fill the SSD with "hidden" files, but not reach the limit of 128Gb ?
About Windows, I didn't knew I could make a scratch disk only for this temp files.
Do I have to put the Windows temp files in the scratch disk also ?
And you don't think a Velociraptor with 1Tb will be a good solution between the speed of a SSD and the size of a HDD ?
My drives (alone or in RAID 0) are directly connected from the motherboard P9X79 PRO, trought the X79 chipset, and the Marvell chipset.
But I read that the Marvell chipset has only 500Mb/s in total bandwitch divided between the 2 drives..... I'm not really sure....
but even if it's true, I don't think the OS/apps will take a lot of bandwitch (except when I'll start an apps),
and it will surelly let the full bandwitch for the scratch disk. Don't you think ?
4 drives are connected to the X79 chipset :
    - 1x SATA 6Gb/s - Barracuda 3Tb (projects)
    - 1x SATA 6Gb/s - Barracuda 3Tb (renders)
    - 2x SATA 3Gb/s / RAID 0 - Barracuda 3Tb (footages)
    - 2x SATA 3Gb/s / RAID 0 - Barracuda 3Tb (footages)
2 drives will be connected to the Marvell chipset :
    - 1x SATA 6Gb/s - SSD (OS/apps)
    - 1x SATA 6Gb/s - SSD or HDD (scratch disk for CS6 and other "video" apps)

  • How do I get PremierePro CS6 to talk with Blackmagic card for HDMI output?

I recently upgraded my MacPro from CS5 to CS6.  I primarily work with Premiere Pro but also with PhotoShop and Sound Booth.  Previousely, my HDMI monitor worked with CS5 but the playback settings in CS6 only had the Adobe Default Player as an option and it would not show the Blackmagic card as an option.  I upgraded my Blackmagic software to the most recent version (9.7) but that didn't work either.  After the Blackmagic upgrade the HDMI signal in the CS5 PremierePro version (still installed and in use) ceased to operate. Subsequently, the MacOS was also upgraded from 10.7.5 to 10.8.3 but no change in outcome.  I have checked all mechanical connections.
    My platform specs are:
    MacPro (Early 2009)
    OS 10.8.3
Processor:  2x2.66 GHz Quad-core Intel Xeon
    Memory:  12 BG, 1066 MHz DDR3
    Dual screen Apple display
Blackmagic output settings (9.7) :  All Video, 4 Analog Audio & 2AES/EBU  (NTSC)
My question is how do I get PremierePro to talk with the Blackmagic card?
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
What Blackmagic card do you have?
There is a known bug with the Intensity cards and Blackmagic driver 9.7 where it does not output HD, only SD   This should be resolved soon.
In the meantime, if you have a Intensity card you can go back to desktop version 9.6.8.

  • Final cut 10.1 will not output or input thru Blackmagic intensity shuttle thunderbolt on 2013 Retina MBP while Premere Cs6 does

Final Cut 10.1 will not output or input thru Blackmagic intensity shuttle thunderbolt on 2013 Retina MBP while Premere Cs6 does

As I mentioned, Premere Cs6 has no issues with the BM Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt. This proves that the Mac sees the shuttle. iMovie, like FCPX 10.1 does not see it. Not sure if this is an Apple issue or a BlackMagic issue. I plan to contact BlackMagic on Monday out of curiosity. This issue is more of a surprise than a dead end. Happily there are easy workarounds for capture. I use the BlackMagic software to capture. My main issue seems to be that I am unable to use FCPX to output through the Shuttle. Fortunately I have a Mac Pro and an older BlackMagic card which has worked. It is so very nice to skim video on an SSD.  No lag and no wear and tear on a mechanical hard drive. The 1Tb Apple SSD is shockingly fast. It is a new world.

  • Blackmagic & premiere pro CS6

since I have had so much trouble getting the blackmagic intensity pro to work with CS6, I thought it might be helpful to let others know what I have finally learned.  Using the blackmagic drivers 9.6.8 which can be found in the archives at blackmagic and setting the output to HDMI & component and the input to component video & Analog RCA audio, I have everything working perfectly, at least, for my setup.

Thank you for responding. Yes, I exported test files from Premiere and After Effects, and compared the files to the source sequence using scopes and a difference matte. The After Effects CS6 32bpc export showed no differences to the source sequence at 0.0% matching tolerance. The Premiere Pro CS6 export was different from both the AE file and the source sequence at matching tolerances below 0.5%, but was the same as an uncompressed 8-bit AVI at 0.0% matching tolerance.

Any one can help me urgent please
    Thank you,

I have seen an issue with the latest Blackmagic driver and capturing with the current version of Premiere. I would use Media Express to capture and then just import the files.

  • Framesauslassungen mit Premiere Pro CS6 und Blackmagic

    Fehlerbeschreibung:

  • Adobe Premiere CS6 with Blackmagic 4K footage

    Hi,
I am trying to open footage shot with Blackmagic 4K camera in premiere but all I get is a 1347 x something ... footage. I know Premiere CC will open it... But.. what about premiere CS6.. is tehre any trick or plugin to get it to open what is (or is supposed to be) standard 422 Pro res Quicktime File (sure.. at 3840x2160) ?

    Again me...
I found a way.. I converted the footage with MPEG STREAMCLIP (freeware) re-exporting at the same resolution, Quicktime Prores 4444.. In this way it works fine.. I guess Prores out from BM4K is not exactly as ProRes out of Quicktime ! Hope it helps

  • I have premiere pro CS6 and a blackmagic intensitiy pro HDMI capture card

I have premiere pro CS6 and a blackmagic intensitiy pro HDMI capture card will I be able to capture HD TV progrsms if I have a HDCP compliant monitor?

    No.
As soon as you connect the HDMI cable from your cable box to the BM card it will be seen as non-HDCP compliant.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 exports Blackmagic 10-bit 444 codec at 8 bpc

Color depth is automatically set to 24 bits (8bpc) when using the Blackmagic 10-bit 4:4:4 codec to export a file from Premiere Pro CS6 (Win-7). Is it possible to render from Premiere Pro using a higher bit depth so that the output isn't clamped? After Effects allows higher depth, but it is not an ideal workflow to export complex Premiere projects from AE.

Thank you for responding. Yes, I exported test files from Premiere and After Effects, and compared the files to the source sequence using scopes and a difference matte. The After Effects CS6 32bpc export showed no differences to the source sequence at 0.0% matching tolerance. • How can I get a frame accurate output to tape using Premiere Pro CS6 and a Blackmagic Decklink Extre

i can set the frame offeset inside the Export to tape tool (which BTW is horrible, you can't scrub, you MUST use ":" or ";" in the timecode fiellds or the deck just goes to the beginning of the tape etc), but I'm still 12 frames off.  there is a frame offset in the Blackmagic device control settings, but that does nothing for the output to tape.
I don't want to have to export a quicktime and then open it in Final Cut to output to tape, the whole object is to get away from FCP because it's a horrible ghorrible program.....TIA
This particular system is an 8core Nehelem Mac Pro with 32GB of ram, OS 10.7.5.

I don't know what AppleTV can handle as far as bit rate is concerned, but increase the bit rate as high as it will let you. You are taking DV which is 25Mb/s and compressing it. If you're making an H.264, you should get great results needing no more than 6Mb/s. Bear in mind, the higher the bit rate, the larger the file size.

  • Dream Machine for CS6 with Blackmagic Intensity Pro

    Good Day.
Im about to move from CS5.5 to CS6, and along with the upgrade of software, I've decided that a hardware upgrade is due too.
I'm looking to put together an entirely new PC as my old one (i3 with 4gb ram) will be inherited by the animator.
We shoot the majority of our footage on Canon DSLR's and my old machine really struggled with realtime playback and editing of the footage (was continuously rendering at less-than-optimum sequence settings for the chance to see something playing back in realtime)
I'd like to know what the specs would be of a machine that would be capable of working with this footage (usually graded with Colorista). And not just the bare essentials, something that would be able to handle this with ease, as often our edits include multiple layers as well as image sequences.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Warm Regards,
    Gareth H. Graham

  • Can not capture with CS6 and blackmagic multibridge pro on HP Z820

    This is the setup:
    Z820 and Windows 7 pro
    Multibridge Pro and driver 9.7.7
    CS6.0.5
In premiere I can not capture via the Multibridge. The app crash when entering capture mode. I can not change setting in my capture device.
On the same PC I CAN capture with Media Composer v7 and BM Media Express.
I've tried several version of the BM driver, no changes.
The BM PCIe card is in slot 1 and the PC bios I have update to v3.50.
    Anyone having the same experience?
    Regards
    Danny

Thanks for the reply. I know YouTube is not the way to check quality but it shows the stutter in playback. The quality wasn't the issue and it is filmed with my phone. The video shows what it needs to show.
Disk setup is a ddp server (check http://www.dynamicdrivepool.com/ for info) connected with 2 network cables for optimal speed.
Video cars is a NVIDIA Quadro K4000.
Premiere Pro CC is up to date with the latest version.
Export settings? I think you mean sequence settings:
For the record: I'm not trying to play a sequence with multiple layers of video of different codecs and loaded with effects. It's just a video chopped to pieces and an adjustment layer with some simple effects. The way Adobe is advertising the performance of Premiere Pro, one would think that couldn't be a problem for any Z820. Or that's what I was thinking. Hope you or anyone can help.

  • Anyone using Blackmagic Ultrastudio SDI USB3 Interface in CS6?

I am looking at getting new SDI I/O cards for some new CS6 workstations we are building and am wondering how well these new USB3 devices work in CS6?
One of my main questions is can you monitor your CS6 timeline playpack from this device with HDMI and SDI output simultaneously?

    digitlman wrote:

The short answer is yes. In the BMD control panel there is a box which says " All Outputs Active".

  • Canon 5D - BlackMagic Ultrastudio - PremierePro CS6

I'm trying to get an HDMI signal out from my Canon 5D MkII (I know that the signal will get overlays, I'll just use the signal as a live feed for some tests).
I've connected the Ultrastudio via thunderbolt, open capture in Premire Pro but all I get is a black signal. Is there something to set in particular to get the live signal or it isn't possible at all to make this setup work?
    Thanks

In case anybody is interested, I figured out how to correct this.  I uninstalled and re-installed the BlackMagic driver/software package.  I was running 9.6.1 already, but Premiere Pro was installed AFTER the Blackmagic software, and apparently, for the BlackMagic drivers to get plugged in properly to the adobe Platform, you have to install the BM package AFTER Premiere Pro is alreayd installed. A bit annoying, but it makes sense. I lost some of my BM preferences in the process, but it took only a few minutes to get them back in place.
