CS6 Blu-Ray multi-page menus- No preview possible?!?!

I'm fairly confident of the answer here, but just want to make sure that this is Encore CS6's "fault" rather than mine...
Is there really no way to preview/test multi-page menus in CS6 Blu-Ray projects?
Thanks in advance!
- Jim 8^}

You can add multipage menus to your Blu-ray projects. But the preview of Blu-ray features (Multipage menu, pop up menu etc) is not available in Encore as of now. But you can navigate to all the menu pages in the menu editor.
Use these Next and Previous buttons to navigate to the different pages of the menu.

  • Can't preview multi-page menus in Encore CS5?

Can anyone confirm or deny if preview is supposed to work for multi-page menus?  It's not working for me.  I'm having to burn to a BD-RE and test in a real player as I author a fairly complicated menu, and because Encore insists on including all assets whether or not they're linked, it burns a 46GB disc every time.  It's somewhat tedious.
If the answer is no, then does anyone know if they're working on this for a future patch?

I have no trouble previewing multi pages, but mine are not that complex.
Why do you not make an image and play that with e.g. Virtual Clone drive (that is what i do)

  • Can't save multi page pdf in preview

    Hi,
From previous posts, I see that I can drag jpegs to make a multi page document in preview (show sidebar> drag images to it), but when I save, I get only one image. Why can't I save all the images as one document?
    Thanks!
    David

David, that was helpful. I was having the same issue, searched the forum and found this thread.
I might add that if you're starting with say 3 separate pdf pages - open the first one and then View/Sidebar/Show Sidebar. Add all your pages and then follow your procedure.

  • Preview Blu-Ray Pop-Up Menus in Project Preview Window

    Hi-
I'm trying to test how my blu-ray pop-up menu looks and functions in the project window, but I can't seem to find a way to get my pop-up menu to appear (other than in the project menu frame) . On most set-top blue-ray players, there's a button labeled "Pop-Up Menu" or "Title Menu", but I don't see one in the Project Preview Window when previewing. Is there a way to test this before actually burning a blu-ray? Maybe I'm missing something obvious. I hope so. I'm not sure if it's related, but I can't seem to get the "Title Button" on the disc Properties panel to change to anything other than "Stop", either. (Using Encore CS5)

Currently, Encore does not support popup menu preview.
But, as workaround you can see the popup menu over the video for a particular frame.
    Steps -
    1. Link a popup menu with a timeline
    2. Select the popup menu in project panel
    3. Go to Popup menu tab in property panel
    4. Select the timeline from background timeline drop down
    5. enter the timecode(frame) for the timeline.
You can see the popu menu over a video for a particular frame.

  • Problems with blu-ray pop-up menus

I made the mistake of tacking this question/problem onto another similar post, so here it is again for some:
I got this error message near the end of the disc build:
Blu-ray Error: "fatal error". Code: "6", Note: "Graphics buffer underflows.
- Failed to multiplex with maximum IG PTS: 54900000 (in 90kHz).
The blu-ray project I am working on is an 87 min live concert with about 8 other much shorter timelines.  The main menu has 6 buttons with a motion background.  There are few submenus as well, but the problem came when I started making pop-up menus for the various timelines.
This is the first project where I really had to explore the possibliltes and limitations of Encore's pop-up menus.  I burned a test disc with just a basic pop-up menu to see how the menu's opacity would look over the final video.  All the video assets were set to to transcode "Automatically".  All audio assets are blu-ray compliant Surround ac3's or 16-bit stereo WAV's so could be left as "Don't Transcode".  This disc burned perfectly.
I then went through the pretty involved process of making a final version of the main pop-up menus.  The main concert's pop-up menu has 5 pages (including page 0).  There are specific pop-up menus for other timelines, but those have no more than 2 pages.  None of the menus have more than 10 buttons.
I tried to burn the disc, and it came back with the error above.  After reading some other posts, I thought it was worth a try to delete the AuthorScriptHDMVSessions folder before starting a new burn since it was already filled with files from my test burn.  That didn't help.
Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

After countless tests and research, I finally have a successfully burned blu-ray with WORKING multi-page pop-up menus (that I am happy with).  Thank you to all the people who gave theoretical guidance and suggestions in emails and other posts.  There has been no shortage of oddities and obstacles to overcome when just trying to make a simple blu-ray.  Unfortunately,  I did not have the time to accurately pinpoint what was causing the original error message.  The project just needed to get done.
The main pop-up menu has 4 pages, with 13 buttons on each page.  Only about 5 - 9 of the "buttons" on each page are actual buttons that link anywhere.  The other buttons on each page only serve as the remaining pieces of the menu's background and cannot be accessed on the final disc.  Totally ridiculous way to make the backgrounds for pop-up menus, but it works.
Some of the other things I learned regarding pop-up menus + Encore misc:
    1.  If at all possible, totally create a menu .psd BEFORE bringing it into an Encore project.  Make the button order in the .psd what you want it to end up being in the end (bottom layer is button 1).  If you start editing and saving order after it has been brought in, Encore will almost always revert it back to some strange (possibly original) button order.  You will spend all your time re-routing button navigation and changing their numbers, only to find out later that Encore has changed it all back without notice.
    2.  As many people state, it is best to have Encore do as little thinking as possible.  All of my button groups originally had Text Layers within them with some fx applied.  I merged each text layer down into that button's background layer to essentially rasterize the text with the fx applied.  Each (+) button group therefore only had a higlight layer and a background layer.  After doing this for all the buttons, the .psd file size was greatly reduced.  Naturally I saved a copy before going through the merging process in case I ever had to go back and edit the text.
    3.  Originally the background for the pop-up menus were made from a rectangle cut-out of the background of the main menu.  This was the width of the frame and around 1/5 of the height.  I had changed the opacity to around 60%, and cut up the pieces to go with their respective buttons.  For the final disc, I just made a shape with the Rounded Rectangle Tool, and filled it with a solid colour.  It is probably only about half the size of the original pop-up menu's background.  I changed its opacity as well, but then merged it with a blank layer so Encore didn't have to think about the opacity setting.
    4.  I encoded all the video elements BEFORE they were brought into the project.  There are some issues with the way the file sizes are interpretted by Encore, but I won't trust it to encode anything again.
    5.  For some reason Encore wants to transcode 16-bit, 48.0 kHz .aiff files when making a blu-ray, but 16-bit, 48.0 kHz .wav files do NOT need trancoding (for both dvds and blu-rays).

  • How do I have Blu-Ray pop up menus linked together if I'm using multiple timelines?

I have a 6 timeline project that I put in pop up menus for.  Each timeline asks for it's own pop up menu to use.  The pop up menus seemed to need to be created with the multiple chapter option to work for me, I couldn't create stand alones and link them together because the timeline asks for ONE pop up menu associated with it.  I then created 6 separate pop up menus (each one ended up with about 3 pages) one for each timeline.  I tried to link POP UP MENU1  to POP UP MENU2 with a NEXT button at the end of the last page of POP UP MENU1.  When I drag the whip to link it to the proper pop up menu when I actually look at the button the link is the current pop up menu not the one I want it linked to, so I am unable to do this.  The pop up menus function properly on my Blu-Ray player- If I am viewing material from timeline 1, I can pull up POP UP MENU1 and arrow back and forth to the three pages on this, POP UP MENU2 functions the same way for timeline 2.  etc.
    Project Settings:
    Blue Ray
    720 X 480
    EncoreCS5
    Quad 4
    2.4 GHZ speed
150 GB free space on drive
    NVIDIA GEFORCE 8500 card
    6 GB Ram

First of all, the pop up menus can not be linked to each other.
If you want, you can have more pages on a single pop up menu and link all your timelines or chapters to the buttons of the pages and then link that pop up menu with more number of pages to all of the timelines. In this way, you can have the option to navigate to any chapter of any timeline while any timeline is playling.
    Thanks,
    Ramesh.

  • Is it possible to burn a SD DVD correctly from an Encore CS6 Blu-ray project and content?

    Hi all,
I shot and edited AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) square pixel video from a Sony NXCAM HXR-NX5U camcorder in Premiere CS6.  I then exported the 1920x1080 edited mpeg2 blu-ray m2v file for import into Encore Cs6.  Burning a blu-ray disc in Encore CS6 from this mpeg2 bluray m2v file is no problem and look great even with the default settings.
However, I also want to burn a standard DVD using the same HD Encore CS6 project without having to go back to Premiere CS6 and output a 710x480 mpeg-dvd file.  I thought i could simply select the dvd format under the build tab in Encore thinking Encore would handle all the necessary conversions to burn a 720x480 DVD but the menus look jaggy and the video does not play smoothly.
Is it possible to burn a standard DVD correctly from an Encore CS6 HD project and content, or is it better to have Premiere CS6 output a 720x480 mpeg-dvd file and create a new standard 720x480 dvd Encore project instead?
Acording to Encore Help, it says "You can build the same project to DVD and Blu‑ray formats no matter which format you select in the New Project or Project Settings dialog box. Encore makes the appropriate adjustments to transcode the elements to the correct format.", but i'm not convinced Encore is doing things correctly.
    Thanks.

    Jim,
I tried a variation on your suggestion.
I exported a new m2v file using the mpeg-dvd from Premiere CS6 as you suggested with "Use Maximum Render Quality" checked to get better scaling from HD to SD. I imported it into my Blu-ray EncoreCS6 project by using the "Replace Asset" option and changed the "Project Settings" authoring Mode to "DVD" leaving the HD menu's "Aspect Ratio" at 16:9.  I then built the disc using the "Build" tab DVD format and output settings.
    It worked!
The jaggies are gone (except for some motion jaggies) and the DVD plays well.
I suppose I could have done something similar within Encore but I'll test that some other time.

  • CS6 - Blu-ray Error: "Fatal Error", Code: "6"

    Greetings,
I have gone through about 15 Blu Ray Disks in the past week, trying to burn one wedding project.
When i burn to DVD - its fine... but when i choose Blu Ray, it gets about 1 hour in and then comes up with 'Blu-ray Error: "Fatal Error", Code: "6".
I have tried to re-export all files for burning, in two different blu ray formats - but it continues to come up with the same.
I have used Encore for years but have just upgraded to CS6 and im getting these errors.
What am i doing to cause this?
    Thx,
    James

    Try this first:
Strange Errors in En? Project Changes Not Showing Up? Try This!
Then type "fatal error code 6" into the "Ask A Question" box at the top of the main Encore Forums page, or the top of the Discussions page.
You'll get 5 very relevant topics right away.

  • How do I burn a Blu-Ray disc with menus?

I have a 38 minute project comprised mostly of HD clips (.m2ts, .MP4 and a few .MPG). I try to render the project to Blu-Ray with Premiere Elements 12, it takes approximately an hour to reach 98% with message "Encoding Media", then switches to "Compiling Media" and freezes there (I let it go for 6 hours with no end in sight). Task Manager shows that it is not using any CPU cycles anymore, while it was using up to 96% of the CPU before it reached that point. I've been able to render this project to a DVD, to Folders on my HDD and to AVCHD successfully on a DVD.
For a test, I tried a 1 minute project with the same results. It wasn't until I removed the disc menu that I was able to burn a Blu-Ray disc. I am running project on a PC with Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit, an AMD Athlon II x4 635 Processor, 2900 Mhz, 4 cores, 4 logical processors with 4 GB of RAM. I have found a number of references to the 98% completion but no real solutions. Any assistance would be appreciated as I would like to produce a high definition disc with menus...

ATR and jerry9146, thanks for the replies. I am using version 12 of Premiere and, when I attempt to update, it tells me that I have the latest version. I am fairly new to Premiere although I have used other video software before. My motherboard supports up to 16 GB (4 slots) so I could try increasing the memory which would probably speed up the rendering process. I'm not so sure that not having enough memory would prevent it from completing the rendering process but who knows. Task Manager shows CPU usage in the high 90% and shows physical memory in the mid 50% during the rendering process...
My software always finds the media and lets me know if I have the wrong disc in (I had inadvertently inserted a DVD instead). I have tried both H.264 1440x1080i NTSC Dolby and H.264 1920x1080i NTSC Dolby. It does not have a choice for 1080p full HD.
I always cancel out of the Windows popup asking "How do you want to use this disc?" as I assume that Premiere will let the system know. Is that correct?
The movie menu that I chose for this project is a fairly simple one, Faux Widescreen from the General category. It contains 1 main menu and 3 scene menu pages containing a total of 17 scene markers which I inserted myself with Add Marker.
I had already taken out the Stop marker as I had read that it doesn't work for Blu-Ray anyways (and thought that that might have been the culprit). Spacing is good and there is no button overlap.
jerry9146, I have successfully burned an AVCHD file to a DVD thru Premiere and the quality is pretty good. Does the workaround that you suggest produce a Blu-Ray quality file?

  • Cs 6 blu-ray with sub menus, only go back to main menu

I have burned a blu-ray with a main menu then sub menus: audio setup, chapters, extras.
(note: they are regular menus NOT pop-up menus and I would rather not do pop-up menus at this time)
when I am playing any of the sub menu content (trailer or making of or picking a chapter button from the chapter menu etc...) and press the menu button on the Blu-Ray player while it plays that content, it goes to the main menu instead of the sub menu.
I checked it in the simulator and it was working perfectly....just as I would expect it to.
each sub menu item (a trailer or making of featurette for example) is set to go back to the sub menu and it's button
    when done playing...and it does.
It just refuses to do that when the menu button on a blu-ray player is used and instead goes to the main menu.
I ran the link checker before building the folders and burning it...no conflicts found.
This seems to be an issue with Encore in general, reading about this here and in
    other forums.
Can Encore simply not create a proper blu-ray disc with sub-menu's you can
return to when the menu button on a remote is pressed?
Do I have to buy BluStreak in order to correct these rather obvious navigation errors?

Let us know what you find.
I think the original poster in the other thread observed that commercial BDs were showing the same behavior.
Even if true, it does not mean that some kind of scripting might not work.
But Encore would not have the option.

  • Is there a way to animate blu-ray pop-up menus?

I've seen several commercial blu-rays that had pop-up menus that animated onto the screen (sliding from the side or bottom of the screen, etc).  Is there a way to do this in Encore?
    Thanks.

    No. See Here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2492

  • Question about custom PS menu in Encore CS6 Blu-ray project

I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere. My project is in Encore CS6 for Blu-ray.
Basically, I have a documentary about a group of friends taking a roadtrip around the country. The film is broken down by days, which coincide with different cities they stop in.
    For example:
    - Day 1 they were in Atlanta, GA
    - Day 2 they were in Tallahassee, FL
    - Day 3 they were in Jacksonville, FL
    - Etc
The problem I'm having is with the Chapter menu.
    Here's what it looks like:
The Chapter menu it's a map of the region with the cities they stopped in and a graphic of their route with a line to each city.
Across the bottom of the menu are the Days to select, ie Day 1, Day 2, Day 3. These are the buttons to select and are not part of the map.
When the Days are selected with the bottom buttons I also want the cities in the map to be highlighted as well. But I can't figure out how to do this? When I bring the menu into Encore it gets all screwed up with selections all overlapping each other, because it thinks both the bottom Day buttons and the map city highlights are both buttons.
Here's what is happening when the menu is brought into Encore:
I only want the lower Day buttons to be selectable, and when they are chosen the city lights up as a separate informational graphic (which is not meant to be selectable as part of the button, just to provide the viewer additional information, in this case a reference on the map of where they are on each Day).
If someone can shed some light on how to do this I'd be most appreciative.

When you put the red dot inside the button group for that button, you make it part of the button. That is the nature of the DVD spec. And the area of the button is defined by the whole rectangle the encloses all the elements of the button.
The problem with BigMan's option (which is the option) is that it won't work using a mouse on a computer - a mouse rollover doesn't trigger the selection of the button. It will work on a computer when using the software player's "remote."

  • Encore CS6 Blu-Ray "fatal error" during build

I have an external ble-ray drive that I just bought from OWC for my MacBook Pro. I have created a project for a wedding that has 3 sequences. Everything looks good, and the building/burning process gets about 90% done and I get this:
Blu-ray Error: "fatal error", Code: "6", Note: "Video buffer underflows. Total bitrate is too high near time = 0.0000000 seconds - Failed to multiplex with maximum IG PTS: 54900000 (in 90kHz).
I am new with Adobe, especially Encore. This is my third try with the same message. I tried building to Blu-Ray disc as well as Blu-Ray image. I have several couples waiting on a Blu-Ray disc for their wedding video, and I can't produce one! So frustrated!
    Any help is MUCH appreciated!

This is actually a very interesting error message. There are 4 blu-ray authoring programs that can display a error message that contains "video buffer underflows" when authoring a Blu-Ray with H.264.
These 4 blu-ray authoring programs are: Sony DVD Architect Studio, Sony DVD Architect Pro, Adobe Encore and Sonic Senarist BD.
Another interesting thing is also that the complete error message that is displayed by both Sony DVD Architect Studio and Sony DVD Architect Pro is exactly identical, word for word, with the error message that is displayed by Sonic Senarist BD.

  • Saving Multi Page pdf in Preview

I've been able to do this in the past (I think in Leopard) but am unable to figure it out in Snow Leopard.
If I have 5 related single page pdf's, I open one, view the side bar, drag the remaining four to the side bar and Save As a new file I hope to have a file of 5 single page documents.
It's not working that way. Either I'm forgetting a step or - what was good in Leopard is not good in Snow Leopard.
    Any help please?

Yes, you drop the doc on the sidebar, but it needs to be Directly on top of the first page, then you see the arrow indicating multiple pages.
