i have photoshop cs6 and i run under windows 7
today pop up the update of camera raw 8.1
well now 7.4 and works good
i'm worried about updat to camera raw 8.1 because it could be slower then 7.4
if i install camera raw 8.1 and i want to revert to 7.4 can do it? and how
i did in the past , but i got issues with cs5

Ha ha, yes, I suppose those names might have made more sense. I said I was rusty.
You can download the scripts from the link at the end of the original post 249 in the Bridge forum.
It's important that both scripts are run as Administrator, to overcome permissions problems. And you should always run CRSTORE first with any new version, to make a safe backup of the plug-in files.
Once you've preserved each version with your own naming system (I used 70, 71, 72, 73 & 74). You can then change to any version by running (for example) CRCHANGE 72.
Looking back at the code just now, it occurs to me that this is untested on 32 bit Windows, and I'm not sure the directory names are correct, so I'd suggest checking the scripts on 32 bit Windows. Does CS6 even work on 32 bit Windows?

Updated ps cs6 camera raw to 8.4 on mac os 10.5.8 now cannot revert to 8.2 to view and open cr2 files. I would rather not uninstall any programs, would rather remove manually and install 8.2. I Have several adobe programs and no clue where serial numbers are to even think about uninstalling all to reinstall, just to fix a plug in. Please help

It's a bit of a work around, but you can uninstall PS CS6 [and perform a clean install / don't update the software afterwards for camera raw] and manually install the CR 8.2 update:

So i have a 2011 MacBook Pro and when i turned it on this morning a flashing folder came on with a question mark in the middle of it and it keeps flashing. So i tried googling any solutions and up so far nothing has worked. Please Help ?

Everytime i start up my laptop i press CMND+R to make it go to the repair disk utility but instead it takes me as if i have to install lion when i had Snow Leopard 10.6.8. When i do go to the repair disk utility, on the eft hand side shows two hardrives one is Untitled and another is Hitachi, i tried downloading snow leopard 10.6.8 onto a Re-writable disc using my windows computer. When i insterted it onto the disc drive it came out under SUPER DRIVE and everytime i double click on the CD it says something about attaching images/ I also forgot to mention that the MAC OSX 10.6.8 Update shows on the left hand side on the bottom in DMG format. I dont know what else to do, please help?

This is the firmware telling you it can't find a bootable OS X volume.
Usually to solve this all you do is hold the option key down on the built in keyboard while booting the computer, this enters Startup Manager and then you choose OS X to boot, then in System Preferences > Startup Disk you change it to the boot volume and it tells the firmware.

What you have is a 10.7 or 10.8 Recovery HD from when 10.7 or 10. was on the machine previously.
The Macintosh HD partition only was erased and 10.6 installed on it, without erasing the entire drive like what should have occured to remove the Recovery HD partition.
So you have a mucked up machine.

Well there goes your problem there, your downloading illegal copies of Snow Leopard from a untrusted location.
10.6 is not available for download, except from pirate sites. You likely have malware or a compromised system.
I dont know what else to do, please help?
What you need to do is call Apple via phone, tell them the make of your machine and order the appropriate 10.6 disks, they are inexpensive now. Some machines that came with 10.6.3+ origianlly need machine specific disks, other wise pre-10.6.3 Intel Macs can use the 10.6.3 white retail disks.
Once you have the disks, you need to backup your personal information off the computer to a external storage drive using the emergency quick copy method, then disconnect it to prevent mistakes.
Most commonly used backup methods
Next follow this proceedure and make sure to select the ENTIRE drive on the far left with the drive makers name and size, this will erase the entire drive, then install 10.6 from the disk

When finished setup the machine and log onto the Internet and use Software Update to get current on 10.6.8
Don't use pirated software, it's likely been compromised in some fashion.

I've been having major issues with CS6 as well as CC - started with both versions of photoshop locking up, then totally refusing to open. Uninstalled both versions, just reinstalled CS6 but it is not opening unless I hit the shift key while initiating, then it refused to open a raw file so I went in to update to accomodate my camera and got these error messages. I have been without a working photoshop program for what seems like a very long time and this is beyond acceptable. Tech support was not helpful.

When I received a subscription error, I had to do a factory data reset on my new Droid Bionic in order to successfully subscribe to the News Feeds. Although I do recommend that you try this, let's save this step as a last resort. Please try to remove the battery while the device is powered on & re-insert then power the device on. Afterwards, verify that you have a good 3G/4G signal, anything more than 2 bars. If you are still experiencing access issues then the factory data reset would be the next step. Of course you will have to reactivate your device after the factory reset. Prior to completing the reset I recommend verifying that your contacts are backed up on either backup assistant or on your Gmail account. I have looked at all of my settings both in Bridge and CS6 Photoshop regarding Camera Raw. I am at a loss how to set the crop tool in cm or inches as I once did - now the only option is to crop using ratios of 1:1 etc etc - This is infuriating as lots of my square crops I could set at 10" x 10'' specifically to print one to one to fit frame and mount size -
Now if cropping using bloody aspect ratio of 1:1 (square) the actual dims of the crop are roughly 4.25 inches x 4.25 inches. this means I then have to open the whole image in photoshop in order to crop at the dims I have set! It was so much quicker in terms of batch cropping in camera raw being able to set dims in centimetres and inches but they have gone and mucked around with it, with the new bloody update! Unless you are an absolute genius and know how I can go back to having an option of CM, Inches and aspect ratio within the custom crop settings? (Please say you do)

I seem to remember seeing an article that stated i would have to uninstall and re-install CS6 Photoshop completely and re-install again. However I cannot find this article now.
If the above is true, having PS version CS4 with update CS5 & 6 installed, would i have to remove all PS versions.
Photoshop error message just states download latetest software version, which i have done with ACR 7.4. I have also tried ACR 8 which did open file either.
Also when ACR8 is hosted by Photoshop CS6, it does not offer any of the new features described in Photoshop CC marketing materials for ACR8 (Re: DPReview mag) so i returned to 7.4
Adobe DNG runs OK but i would rather deal with the original file in ACR rather than adding an additional step with more files to keep track of.
Is there a way of uninstalling all versions of ACR, cleaning system and re-installing ACR, assuming the fault lies with ACR?
Anyone have any answers?

Half an hour after posting this query (in the wrong forum) I resolved the issue. The fault lies with Nikon Transfer.
Nikon Transfer corrupts the D800 NEF files. Apparently Nikon Transfer is well known for causing errors.
Drag & dropping the files direct from the memory card onto your hard drive and everything works fine.

As the Canon G15 is a very new model, support is not yet available through Camera Raw. In the meantime, try out the software that came with you camera, to see if it can export a TIF or JPEG, which should open up in Photoshop just fine.

There are lots of bug fixes and new and changed features in the After Effects CC (12.2) update, and a couple of targeted bug fixes in the After Effects CS6 (11.0.4) update.

I have answered my own question. And as embarrassing as it is. I'll leave it up in case someone else is looking for the same answer.
Windows 7 Home Premium only supports up to 16 GB of RAM. I had to buy the Professional version in order to access all 32 GB of the installed RAM.
It's a pretty silly mistake to make, but there you have it.
