CS6: Can't switch off color management in the printerdriver when photoshop manages colors

So this is weird: I'm using CS6 Extended and Lightroom 5 on a Windows 7 Pro machine, printing to an old Canon Pixma Ip5200R. When i print from Lightroom, i am using a special printer profile for the pixma and my photopaper, so color management is switched off in the printer driver. The photos print fine.
Now when i print the same photo from CS6, it has a magenta color cast, so clearly something is wrong with the color management. Even though i am using the same printer, the same paper, the same printer profile and  - of course! - had set photoshop to manage the colors, and switched color managent off in the printer driver. The magenta cast could be an indication that the photo is double colormanaged.
It took my quite a while to find out what happens, and this is really weird: When i re-checked the printer driver settings, i noticed that the color management settings did not stick. The canon printer driver offers the options "driver matching" "windows ICM" "none", e.g. having color management done by the printer driver or windows, or switch color management  off. So when i go to the PS print settings and set it to "photoshop manages colors", add the correct printer profile, i have to check the settings in the printer driver and make sure that color management is set to "none". I set it to "none" and click OK. Now everything should be configured correctly. But it's not - because when i re-check the print driver settings, i see color management is set to "diver matching". I can go to the print driver settings again and agian, but whenever i check, color management is set to "driver matching". This setting simply does not stick. No wonder i get a mangenta cast on my prints, the colors are doublemanaged by photoshop AND my printer driver.
Now, this is getting weirder: Only the color management settings don't stick. I can change other settings like print quality and the stick.
But - how do i get rid of this? The culprit seems to be photoshop, not the printer driver. If i print from lightroom, i can change the color management settings in the (very same) printer driver and they stick. When i set the photoshop print dialogue to "printer manages colors" i can change the color management settings in the (very same) printer driver - and they stick! So this looks as if photoshop stops me intentionally from using the correct printer driver settings, that is from switching off the printer drivers color management if it is set to manage colors.
I have already resetted my personal photoshop preferences, but this changed nothing. What am i missing? What is going wrong? Your help is very appreciated.

Hi all, Just to let you know that I finally solved my problem myself.
Essentially what had occurred was that I had updated my Epson driver for my printer , but it hadn't installed, despite informing me that it had! To cut a long story short when I checked in System preferences the older driver for Leopard O/S was still the current driver. I proceeded to ask Epson support for assistance, bu despite their efforts I could not immediately resolve the problem. They were directing me to my Utilities program to remove all traces of my current driver from Printer Utility which did not exist. When I queried this they stated it was not always visible and I should proceed to the next step then install the new driver. Problem was they required me to access this invisible utility in order to complete this process, and yes before you ask I had informed them I was using an Intel Mac with Snow Leopard 10.6.2 O/S. Finally I ignored their advice and took the following steps:
1. I opened System Preferences and double clicked the Printer & Fax icon.
2. I highlighted my Epson R2400 Pinter and removed it by clicking the minus sign at the bottom of the Printers window.
3. Next I did a search and deleted any old drivers for my R2400 that were on my system with the exception of the new Driver.
4. I restarted my Mac Pro.
5. I reinstalled my new printer driver which I had previously downloaded from Epson Support.
6. I restarted my Mac Pro and found that the new driver had installed correctly and full functionality had been returned to the Print Features Dialogue box i.e I could now turn of color management and access advanced features to set the quality of printing using the full spec of the R2400.
Hope this post will be helpful to others if they have a similar problem
Regards Denis

  • Can I lock my 6th generation ipod nano whilst listening to it as it keeps switching off if i knock the sleep button

can I lock my 6th generation ipod nano whilst listening to it as it keeps switching off if i knock the sleep button?

Okay, I apologize, belay my last posting :/
This evening after a whole day of working fine (again), I had the same problem, but this time my idea couldn't fix it.  One point I'd like to make is to NOT listen to your ears when troubshooting your ipod.  When your ipod is turning off, try tuning into the radio.  Mine tells me that it isn't recognizing my earbuds and won't even turn on the radio.  I'm going to try to clean the connection out, but really?  This is freakin' new, Apple people!  Maybe its a way for the company to make you purchase new accessories for the ipod they replaced with the recall :/

  • Can i switch off my tc everyday when i don't use it? can this create troubleshot?

i want to switch off my time capsule every night (when i don't use my mac). Can this create troubleshot??

    Opinions vary on this.
One camp reasons that if Apple designed the product to be switched off regularly, they would have included an "Off" switch on the device, or at least a means to turn it off from your computer. None of these options exist.
The same camp believes that it is better for an electronic component to be left on rather than powered off and powered back up constantly, which places more stress on the electronic components.
It's just like the engine in your car, they reason. It gets the most stress when it starts up. Reducing the stress prolongs the life of the device, but it uses more gasoline.
The other camp believes that it makes no difference whether you power up and power down on a regular basis, and they argue that this saves gasoline (electricity) as well.
But, this same group has trouble explaining why, if the device should be powered on and off regularly, that there is no "On" or "Off" switch on the device.
It is a fact that turning off the Time Capsule will force it to lose its connection to the network. Then, it has to re-establish that connection again when it powers up. Usually, it does but the chances of connection issues increase when you do this.
It is pretty clear what Apple wants you to do. But, it's up to you to decide what you want to do. If you also power down the modem every night, then you might try powering down the Time Capsule as well. This will save some electricity.
If you start to see that the Time Capsule is losing its network connection fairly often, then maybe you only turn off the Time Capsule when you will be away for longer periods of time.

  • My MBP 15 inch can't switch off (freeze at blue screen with spinning wheel)

Whenever i try to "shut down" my MBP, it will freeze at the blue screen with the spinning wheel (that keeps spinning like 'eternally')! Any idea how to solve the problem?
I tried booting from the installation disk and repairing disk with "disk utility" but to no avail. Have also tried repairing disk permissions... Any idea how else should i tackle this problem?
Currently i can only switch off my MBP by holding the power button (forcing it to shut down)...
    Please help Thanks!

Launch the Console application by entering the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search, and select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the times of the log messages referring to boot times. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the time of the most recent boot when you had the problem. Look for error messages in the minutes before that time, and post them here -- the text, please, not a screenshot. Edit out excessive repeats, if any. Do the same with kernel.log.
If the logs don't go back far enough in time, scroll down in the Console file list to /private/var/log/system.log.0.bz2 and /private/var/log/kernel.log.0.bz2. Search those archived logs, and if necessary the older ones below them, for the same information.
Also in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please do not post shutdownStall or hang logs -- they're very long and not helpful.

  • The workings of Photoshop's color management

    Hey guys!
I've been spending some time researching and trying to understand the workings of Photoshop's color management and come across a lot of fuzzy and contradicting information, particularly regarding the Proof Setup. I think I have figured some of it out but (for the ease of my sleep) I figured to ask a couple of direct questions just to be sure. I guess it's more of a curiosity thing.
I'm on a Mac OS X 10.8, Photoshop CS6, calibrated standard gamut monitor, working in sRGB for web.
    1) From what I gathered, to achieve as precise color as possible on my display, all I have to do is set Working Space to sRGB or have images with embeded sRGB tag and have my calibrated monitor ICC profile loaded in the OS X. In that way, all the images and colours in Photoshop will adhere to sRGB and my calibration profile will make sure my monitor is actually displaying correct sRGB colours (to the best of it's ability anyways). Correct?
    2) I have come across a lot of 'quick tips' where people mention using the Proof Setup > Monitor RGB as a way to monitor colours for web and then I've seen people saying that's not right. From what I understand, the Monitor RGB function strips the embeded tag and ignores the working space of the image, instead showing you the RGB values in the 'native' colour space of the monitor, which in my case would be sRGB-ish. Kinda bypassing Photoshop's color management, but not the display calibration profile. Correct?
    3) When viewing an sRGB tagged image, toggling the Proof Setup: Monitor RGB on and off has absolutely no effect. Am I right in assuming that it's because the sRGB tag is getting "switched off" but since the monitor is standard gamut, the native color space is still sRGB?
What I find weird is when I change the display profile in OS X from my calibrated one to, for example, a Generic RGB, toggling the Proof Setup: Monitor RGB has effect - the image brightness changes visibly. If my assumption above was correct, it shouldn't happen, right? Hence my confusion.
    Thanks!
    Kris

In terms of Calibration, it's useful to keep this in mind: Calibration ideally places a device in a known, desried and repeatable state. In terms of a display, the 'ideal' calibration for most is one in which the display and the print produce a visual match. YMMV a great deal! You can calibrate a display such it doesn't produce a match quite easily, getting calibration to produce the match takes work! If any of the targets aim points (White Point, Luminance and contrast ratio) is less than ideal, the calibration doesn't produce a visual match. See: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/why_are_my_prints_too_dark.shtml
In theory, if you didn't need to match the display to a print, you don't have to even calibrate the display for an ICC workflow. But you should <g>. You could simply profile it's current behavior which would work in an ICC workflow because you built a profile that reflects the current display conditions. The display will change over time because a display, unlike say an Epson Pro printer, is unstable and it's behavior will change over time. You need to calibrate or get that display back to it's original condition ideally. With the Epson, it's very, very stable (although I'd point out, not necessarily calibrated ideally, if we had more control over the native driver, we could 'adjust' or calibrate a more linear behavior). So with an Epson, you build a profile on top of the less than ideal driver conditions but the driver and the rest of the system is super stable and consistent. You simply need a profile to define that behavior and you're done. The printer and inks are very stable so you could also in theory place a different driver or RIP and calibrate better behavior and profile.
I'd forget the 'calibrate' a display to sRGB on a modern LCD unit short of perhaps an Eizo or NEC SpectraView system. The sRGB color space is based upon a theoretical CRT display circa 1994 or so, with very defined primaries and conditions. There is no real 'standard' to how one can and should define the display, especially if you want to visually match a print next to the display. The illuminant used to view the print plays a huge role! So providing one set of calibration aim points and expecting all displays to produce a match is pie in the sky. Might be close, might be spot on (I wouldn’t depend on that), might be way off. All explained in the URL above. If one setting worked properly, we'd all use that one setting and calibration products wouldn’t vary from only a few presets (kind of uselss) to products like Eizo and NEC which provide a huge number of options for setting white point as just one example.

  • How to switch off automatic creation of the business partner?

    Hello!
Advise please why in erp after creation of the customer automatically form business partner? How to switch off automatic creation of the business partner? It very much disturbs, because business partner are created from crm. Because of automatic creation business partners are duplicated.

    Hi,
I have made the following customizing settings to activate customer integration with business partner, but the problem is when I create a BP with a role (FI-Customer) the customer is not created automatically.
    1. Set BP Role Category for Direction BP to Customer
Roles: FLCU00 - Business Partner FI Customer (FS: BP)
FLCU01 - Business Partner Customer (FS: BP)
    2. Defined the Number assignment for Direction BP to customer
    4. Customer account group and numbering is also defined.
    3. Created a BP with BP Role FLCU00, I can see the Customer - General Data tab, but no customer was automatically generated by the system.
Kindly let me know if any customizing I have missed.

  • How can I turn off my smart lock on ios7 when it's not in settings general?

Hi, I am in need of help from some one who can tell me what is wrong with my IPad 2. My lock button stopped functioning after screen replacement and it does not lock the iPad unless the smart lock if off in the settings. I can perform other actions such as switch off and screenshot using the lock button but it does not lock the iPad. On IOS6 there was a smart lock but I updated it to ios7 and there is no smart lock known as lock and unlock option on iPad 2 in order for me to turn off. I need help with this please.

I can't tell you why your Sleep/Wake (or Lock) button is not working. However, you should have the Assitive Touch feature on the iPad which floats a virtual button on the screen. Through this virtual button you can mimic the Home button, the Sleep/Wake button and much more, even if those physical buttons are not working/damaged. To access it:
    Settings>General>Accessibility>AssitiveTouch
Also, I believe that under certain circumstances, the option for "iPad Cover Lock / Unlock will only be available under Settings>General if the iPad has detected a Smart Cover (with an embedded magnet).

Sorry, I'm here, but I am at work.
If you do not have a backup and iTunes will not let you backup now, unfortunately you will lose everything.
I'm not sure that I understand what you saying about iTunes not nothing the device being plugged in, but I iTunes does not see the device that is one of the reasons that you need to use recovery mode.
If you are running iTunes 11 and you cannot see the iPad under the devices heading because you can't see the sidebar - go to View>Show Sidebar at the top of the screen in iTunes.

I received a psd file created in CS6 for MAC, I am unable to find the layers when I open it in photoshop in Windows. What can i do to edit the files? What can be done so that I can either open and see the layers or how can the sender save it in a way that it doesn't "merge" the layers in some way to just one?

Could try saving as tiff provided layers and transparency are chosen at the time of saving. But it's hard to give a definitive answer as it depends on the final usage. For example PSD's tend to work better in applications like In Design in comparison with tiff.

i had my Itunes account disabled due to fraud, if i create a new itunes account how can i switch purchases and apps to the new ID?

    Hi ...
Just be cause the account was disabled (Apple ID) doesn't mean you can't reset the password and have access to your iTunes purchases.
Use the iforgot link to reset your password > Apple ID: "This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons" alert appears
If you have problems resetting, use the email form here >   Apple - Support - iTunes Store - Contact Us
