CS6 & CC Layer Filter Shortcut

Hi there,
Is there any shortcut to toggle layer filtering (turn on and off) on CS6 and CC?
Thanks in advance

I do not think so. It would make for a good feature request to be posted at feedback.photoshop.com

    Inconsistent layer filter in CS6?
There seems to be some inconsistency when using the layer panel filter with hidden layers or layer attributes.
    Currently:
If I have some pixel based layers, some with a drop shadow fx...
If a layer is hidden (eye off) and I filter for 'kind = pixel layers', the layer shows in the results. (This is what I would prefer.)
If the layer is visible (eye on), but the effects eye is off and I filter for 'attribute = layer effects', the layer shows in the results. (This is what I would prefer.)
    However...
If the layer is visible (eye on), the effects eye is on, but the individual effect eye (drop shadow in this case) is off, and I filter for 'effect = drop shadow', the layer does not show in the results. I think it should.
    In summary:
I think that the filter system should show all layers and/or attributes in the filter results whether they are visible or not.

I am painting with a white brush - onto a black mask.  The purpose is to only apply the Dust and Scratches filter to specific areas.
The brushing will apply the filtered effects when I create the layer, apply the filter, and apply the black mask.  The brushing no longer works if I create a new layer and then return to the layer with the Dust and Scratches filter.  The problem is similar, I think, to if one were applying an effect with the history brush, close the file, and reopen it.  The history brush won't be helpful because the history is lost..  In this case of applying the filter to a layer with a mask, the history brush isn't used and I would have guessed that the layer would allow re-use of the filter and brush.

  • Change layer scrolling shortcut?

    Hi everyone!
I came to this forums once again because I seek help with Photoshop. I'll try to be as short as possible with describing my problem.
I would like to know if there is a way to change layer scrolling shortcuts. I know that default ones are Alt + [ or ] to scroll  through layers, but unfortunately my country's keyboard does NOT have [ and ] keys. Therefore I am unable to quickly scroll through my layers. So I went into the keyboard shortcuts menu and searched it over and over again and couldn't find the these two shortcuts.
Some of you may suggest that I should change the keyboard setting in Windows, but changing the keyboard setting on my computer is not an option here, because I've been using my country's keyboard + translated version of windows my whole life. Even if I did change the the keyboard to English one in Windows, I still wouldn't know on which keys certain symbols would be because I don't have an English keyboard.
Well, that's all. Hopefully someone will be able to help me.
    Thanks for your replies!
    Jerry

For example here's a script to select the backward layer.
You would copy the below script and paste into either extend script cs6 or a text editor such as notepad and then save the script with a name and extension .jsx.
Then save the script (extend script cs6) or copy the script to your photoshop cs6 presets>scripts folder.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Presets\Scripts (32 bit photoshop cs6)
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Presets\Scripts (64 bit photoshop cs6)
Start or resstart photoshop cs6 and the script should be under File>Scripts and use the Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts to assign a shortcut key.

  • Cs6 photoshop layer thumbnail missing

The cs6 photoshop layer thumbnail is missing when I work with layers. The background layer shows, but when I use duplicate or new adjustment layer it's a white blank. This just started. Help?

This feature will available to you on June 17th when Photoshop CC launches along with the rest of the new CC apps.
Sorry to get you all excited about these new features, only to leave you hanging with a month-long wait.

  • Multi-layer filter

It's possible to make a multi-layer filter plugin? The idea is: the user has open a multi-layer document, then execute the plugin and selects N layers of the document in the filter UI,  and when clics "OK", the plugin create a new layer adding every selected layer pixel by pixel.
LAYER A             LAYER B                      RESULT LAYER
    0 0 5 5 5                1 1 2 1 1                           1 1 7 6 6
    0 0 0 5 5       +       1 1 3 1 1            =             1 1 3 6 6
    0 0 0 0 5                1 2 3 2 1                           1 2 3 1 6
    Any advice?
    Thanks!

A filter plug-in can read from any layer using the channel ports suite. See the Poor Mans Type Tool example. A filter plug-in can only write to the active layer. You cannot add a layer from a filter plug-in. You would need the auto/filter combo as Chris talks about. See the autofilter/hidden combo example or the format/auto for importing text files example.

  • Where can I download a  CS6 Oil Paint filter?

Is there somewhere in Adobe I can download a CS6 Oil Painting filter?

It should already be available in CS6 under Filter > Oil Paint. if it's not there you may not have a graphics card that supports it.

  • Layer Opacity shortcuts not working on mac OSX 10.9.5

    Hello,
I work on a macbook pro retina (OSX 10.9.5.) with photoshop CC and the shortcuts to change the layers' opacity don't work. When I press a number (with a tool other than the brush tool), I know it should change the layer's opacity depending on the number pressed.. but it does nothing. Which is strange because when I use this shortcut technique with the brush tool, it works just fine. Does anyone has the same issue ?
Is there a solution to fix it ?
Thank you for your answers !

I tried with the num lock and also with the shift key, but nothing happened . I already use the numbers at the top of the keyboard (the MBP retina doesn't have a number pad : first I thought that this was the reason it doesn't work, but then I saw that it worked just fine with the tool brush..) I'm really confused by this.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6/ Bridge & Lightroom Keyboard Shortcuts

I would be grateful if someone could direct me to a pdf list showing keyboard shortcuts for Photoshop CS6, Lightroom and Bridge.
    Thanks

For a reference to Adobe Photoshop's keyboard shortcuts, take a look at the new Photoshop CS6 Quick Reference Guide. It is in its beta form, but it is a great way to find shortcuts, as well as find a menu location that might have changed from CS5. We are looking for your feedback, which you can contribute on the site as well.

  • PPro cs6 adjustment layer color tint

I've been working on a project that uses an adjustment layer to apply some secondary color corrections using PPro's Three Way Color Corrector effect. I used just two -- one for a particular shade of red-orange (it's a plastic mixing bowl), and one for a narrow range of blues used in some product packaging (they were fluorescing under the fluorescent lights in a class room). Both of these corrections are narrow (small range of hues and saturations, and a somewhat larger range of luninance values), and the action is simply to lower the saturation to get these specific colors down to broadcast safe levels (as seen on PPro's vectorscope). Since these colors show up quite often in the video footage, and are quite isolated from all the other colors in the scene, I applied them to the whole video using an adjustment layer. Which is one of the intended uses of adjustment layers, yes? And it works beautifully, as expected.
So far so good. I look at this on my monitor, and it looks fine. I take my laptop to a plasma HDTV and look at it there, and it's spot on.
Then I used dynamic link to send the project to Encore for DVD output. I worked on menus for a while, and didn't pay much attention to the footage since I had (more or less) edit lock. When I sat down to actually watch one of the more or less complete DVDs, I noticed that the color wasn't right. It was darker and greener than I remembered (this on that same plasma screen HDTV). So I dragged the laptop back, and sure enough, it's darker and greener now.
To shorten the story, turns out the adjustment layer was the cause. I could turn it on and off using the little eyeball thingie on the timeline, and the adjustment layer is now effecting the entire image and not just the narrow range of reds and blues that are in the secondary color corrections. So I saved the two secondary color corrections as a preset and deleted the adjustment layer. Then I created a new adjustment layer and applied that preset. Boom, problem gone. No more green tint. The same secondary colors as before are under control. What's up with that?
Now, I can't reproduce it (or I'd attach some images for y'all to look at). But I saw it go by. And I've seen a couple of references to something similar to this in searching the 'net for more information. But only a couple.
So... Anyone seen anything like that? Or am I just halucinating again? If you've seen it or heard about it, what was the cause? And did it have anything to do with Encore?

There is a very common misstatement and misunderstanding of how adjustment layers work, which I'll repeat here: "Applying an effect to an adjustment layer applies the effect to all layers under the adjustment layer."
That's wrong in a subtle but important way.
What actually happens is that applying an effect to an adjustment layer applies the effect to the composited result from all of the layers under the adjustment layer.
This is an important distinction, because it puts the adjustment at a different place in the order of operations in the rendering pipeline.
Anyway, that's a long and perhaps overly theoretical way of saying that, yes, you may see some difference between applying an effect directly to a bunch of clips compared with applying the effect to an adjustment layer over that same bunch of clips.

  • Photoshop CS6 adjustment layer interface (vs. CS3)

    Hi
In CS3, my workhorse editor until recently, when I double clicked an adjustment layer it opened up the initial settings window. There I was able to tab browse through the variables, make whatever adjustments I wanted, hit enter, and live happily ever after. I haven't been able to figure out how do do this in CS6, which has the 'properties' panel for making changes to adjustment layer settings.
The question: Can CS6 be set to behave like CS3 in this respect?

This script can help you to edit any agjustment layer is old classic style. Assign e.g. Crtl-A to call it and enjoy.

        catch (e)
            if (e.number != 8007) alert("Line: " + e.line + "\n\n" + e, "Bug!");
There is also a script that can add a new any adjustment layer in "classic style" without any "properties panel". This new layer can be cancelled in classic style by pressing Esc (or Cancel button).

  • CS6 brush size keyboard shortcut?

Just started working a bit with the CS6 beta. I'm used to CS5.1 where I can use the ' * ' key to increase / 'SHIFT' + ' * ' to decrease the brush size which does not work in the CS6 beta (Mac).
So: What's the new keyboard shortcut to change the brush size?

Check to see if they are still set in the Keyboard Shortcuts window.
    Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts
    Select "Tools" from "Shortcuts For"
Scroll down until you see Increase/Decrease Brush Size.
That will allow you to set the shortcuts.
If that fails, you may want to reset preferences. http://forums.adobe.com/message/4209421#4209421

  • My CS6 Shape Layer thumbs are weird

I'm using Photoshop CS6 tonight and I'm getting some weird behavior. The thumbs for Shape Layers in the Layers panel sometimes look right, other times they collapse into a tiny square. I'm wondering if something is wrong. In the photo above, the "HERO" layer is how I expect a Shape Layer to appear. However, the "TOP BANNER" layer is the SAME THING. But for some reason the thumb has become tiny. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out if this is normal for some reason or what.
Is anyone else getting this behavior?

There's a known bug having to do with the shape of the object.  If it's not tall or wide it can end up hidden behind the little layer type icon.
Adobe acknowledged this during the beta, but of course since the released code was built before the beta started it's not fixed yet.  I believe they mentioned that it would not be a trivial fix, and expressed some concern that it could take a while to do, but I'm hopeful that they'll bring it out in an update.

  • CS6 Adjustment layer adding or subtracting area

In CS6 The Clone Stamp tool no longer works to expand the size of an adjustment layer. How do we do it now? Thanks

You’ll get a laugh out of this. I went back to the original image in RAW and the area of the tree to the left of the church was originally very dark on top, but lower down it was significantly lighter. Just the reverse of what you’d think it should be. I kept trying to add it to the area of the adjustment layer and it already was added. The effect of trying to lighten it was not possible because it was too dark without it being a separate layer. Sometimes you just have to go back to the original. Oh Well.

  • Layer opacity shortcut

Are able Layer opacity change through shortcut?
    Thanks!

Your question is very terse, but insofar as you can assign a shortcut key to an action or script, and an action can do just about anything you can do, then the short answer is yes.
If  you do choose to create an action to help you manage layer opacity, you'll have to make some assumptions about the document you're working on, and the conditions in which you're working.  An action can't really make decisions - for example it can't take one of two paths of execution based on whether the layer is an adjustment layer or an image layer.  A script, by contrast, can do conditional execution.
With something as simple as current layer opacity, an action should be able to affect a variety of different kinds of layers, so assuming you want a shortcut key to set the current layer to a fixed level of opacity - e.g., 50% - I'd try the action approach first.
    Hope this helps.
