CS6, CC, PE10, or PE12??

I have several connected questions. I had both CS6 monthly license and PE12 on my laptop. My bank stopped CS6 last June due to possible ID theft. I restarted in Oct; but, the monthly license renewal did not work and I received errors every time I attempted to start CS6. My bank just stopped the card again for another possible ID theft and CS6 just stopped. The laptop that I had CS6 and PE12 on just died. I cannot access accounts, licenses, programs, etc. So, for my wife's laptop and my new one; 1. Should I upgrade to CC? 2. What is the monthly license fee for CC? 3. Should I move to PE12? 4..Is it easier to download PE12 or buy the box set at Fry’s?

Let me first answer questions about PE12 and PE10.
These two products have never been on subscription so even if your laptop or desktop has died, you can still install them on your new machine and use your existing serial number to activate them. There is no need to buy another license or box from anywhere.
CS6 was on optional subscription but most people like me opted for the perpetual license and so there was no question of applications terminating when payments stop being sent to Adobe. However, it is very expensive to buy CS6 now that Adobe wants everybody to move to Subscription model.
CC is on subscription model only and so when payments stop,, so does the applications. Though, you still get about 30 days of usage until the next activation date.
As to whether you should upgrade to CC or not is your decision. We can't advice you on this because we don't know what applications you want to use. CC subscription has an option to subscribe to everything in the CC family of products but this is your decision. It also has single application subscription as well. Your correct. I'm referring to keyword tags. I found the keywords, but it still doesn't look like all the photos are tagged. There's no indication on the thumbnails and I know I tagged more than what is appearing when I click on a keyword in the list. As you suggested, I tried the Advanced Search option. It did not show tagged photos. Looks like I have reading to do. I picked up "the Missing Manual" and will go through that carefully.
Thanks for responding. It's frustrating. I don't want to tag everything again. I did so the last time I upgraded.

Problème acquisition HDV sur PE12

Avec Première Elements 12 acquisition HDV via port FireWire 1394:
Dans le panneaux réglage acquisition, savez-vous pourquoi je ne peux pas choisir l'option "Code Temporel" ?
En effet ce dernier est grisé donc non sélectionnable. Par défaut est coché "Contenu".
J'ai fait un essai avec ce choix imposé donc, et je me suis retrouvé avec un seul gros fichier de 1 heure.
Vous comprendrez mon étonnement de ne pas pouvoir capturer par séquence selon le code temorel provenant du caméscope.
J'ai acheté ce logiciel pour justement monté en HDV et me voilà coincé à l'acquisition.
Dans l'état actuel des choses, ce logiciel ne me sert à rien.
J'ai fait un essai d'acquisition avec P.Pro CS6 (V.d'évaluation) ainsi que Végas Pro 11 l 'acquisition HDV se déroule très bien par le time code du caméscope. J'ai donc un fichier par séquence. Il n'y a qu'avec PE12 que ça ne fonctionne pas.

Why Does PE12 Misplace Added Overlay?

The project is pro-bono for the University of Maine's Surveying Engineering Technologies department and the Screencast-O-Matic clip fills up most of the frame with a much smaller picture-in-picture clip of the instructor should any of that matter. The Version PE12.0 (20130903.main.557123) project is being worked on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit system.
The problem is this: The added smaller overlay clip of the instructor is placed on top of the larger screen captured video clip. Registration looks fine in PE12's 'Monitor' but after rendering (now three times!) that overlay clip has been shifted.
In particular, the original raw clips (both at 1920 x 1080) that are being worked with come from two sources:
Canon EOS 5dM3; .mov; H.264; 29.97 fps
Screencast-O-Matic; .avi; MP42; 10 fps - also its MP4 rendered version.
In the screen capture above as seen in Windows Media Player (VLC shows similarly) with the overlay clip having slid to the right and well beyond the rightmost limits of the frame.
In the screen capture below as seen in the PE12 'Monitor', the clip is properly placed left of the rightmost limits of the frame.
The well documented (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5770383) problems besetting PE10 and NVIDIA drivers; and moreover, Adobe's and NVIDIA's refusal to address them, forced me to purchase the upgrade to PE12. Thankfully those problems linked with PE10 are not present with PE12; however, it seems that there are new issues plaguing PE... including the program crashing within the first 60 seconds, and the eternity it takes to load an existing project.
In PE, I've tried various approaches in setting the New Project's project settings; e.g.,
DSLR 1080p DSLR 1080p30
DSLR 1080p DSLR 1080p30 @ 29.97
PE12 output rendering thus far has been limited to 1920x1080 in .wmv format (as requested by the University)
After the first disappointment, I checked for a PE12 update, and after its installation and rebooting the computer, have tried rendering out of PE12 twice more, both unsuccessfully and with identical results.

PE12 & Camera RAW

Long time Photoshop user and very familiar with Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) and now I find PE12 uses ACR and I an trying to figure out the functionality and purpose in PE12.
I have just upgraded from PE8 and this morning Adobe Application Manager tells me there is an ACR update for Photoshop CS6 and PE12. I have looked at the PDF manual and cannot find a reference. I have tried importing some RAW files (Canon & Nikon) they come in just fine but the import process does not fire up ACR.
I have noticed the size of the ACR update is about 50 MB larger than the PE 12 variant - so that might be a clue.
Anyone have any ideas on how ACR is used?

Camera Raw 8.3 was just released for Photoshop Elements 12 Premiere Elements 12.
Camera Raw 8.3 installation enables you only to import raw and dng images into Premiere Elements 12 as media. You cannot open the Camera Raw dialog to edit raw image in the Camera Raw dialog unless you have Photoshop Elements 12 installed.
And it has always been the case that the full functionality of Camera Raw in Photoshop is seen, but not all features are enabled in Photoshop Elements.
I did not see the exchange of information between you and Hunt until after I had written this post. But, I thought I would post anyway to support the information and expand on it with the mention of the Camera Raw 8.3 just being released. Updates in Elements are via the Photoshop Elements 12 or Premiere Elements 12 Help Menu/Update.

PE12 email service not working

Unable to send pics via adobe email service through PE12. Always locks up. Can still send pics in this manner over my older PE10. Why does it not work with PE12? Went through the verifcation of email. Since it continues to not work, tried to go back and check the verification number to see if entered properly, but appears no way of doing so.

I set up Nokia messaging today with my N900 to enable pushmail. I had problems with the email setups and for some reason i couldn´t log in with my password. Well i went the "forgot password" route and the pass that was sent to my ovi mail (which i uses for Nokia messaging) didn´t work and also when i tried to fetch another pass the service didn´t find my account name.
Well i spent 5 hous today trying to solve this unless i thought i found a solution.
I removed my ovi account which i uset for nokia messaging and voila i didnt have a nokia messaging account anymore.
Well i set up a new ovi account and after that i set up a new mokia messaging email account in my n900 after removing the previous. Now i just cant add an email to nokia messaging service, not through the n900 nor the email.nokia.com way.
Damn. Now the email.nokia.com gives me error500.account "tryagain later"

PE12 Letterboxing Youtube 1440 x 1080 PAL HD Upload

Hi, I have just upgraded to PE12 and am having difficulty getting my uploads how I want them. Source files are 1440 x 1080 PAL video and I uploaded to Youtube using the 1440 x 1080 PAL setting. These are being letterboxed which with PE10 they were not.

If you are telling me that the rendered 1440 x 1080 HD anamorphic 16:9 plays back in the OK (aspect ratio and otherwise) in the Edit area monitor but has display problems in what you are seeing at YouTube after the Timeline upload using Premiere Elements YouTube feature, then this is not a Premiere Elements issue. This is a YouTube player issue which is out of the realm of Premiere Elements.
Your source is 1440 x 1080 4:3 before its 16:9 flag is recognized by the YouTube player and the YouTube player responds to the 16:9 by stretching the 1440 x 1080 4:3 to 1920 x 1080 16:9. The problem that some players can have with recognition of the 16:9 flag is known. Based on your results using the YouTube 1920 x 1080 preset, this seems to be a viable explanation for the problem that you presented.
There are two additional ways that we might prove that to the both of us
1. Export your Timeline content to a file saved to the computer hard drive as 1440 x 1080 HD anamorphic 16:9 and then upload that to YouTube at the YouTube web site. Did you have YouTube display issues?
(I will try this later today.)
2. Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" issue for you?
If it worked before, how many times?
(I do not recall the last time I used the Premiere Elements YouTube feature to upload 1440 x 1080 HD anamorphic 16:9 Timeline. I will do that later today.)
3. Just in case note....when you are looking at your 1440 x 1080 HD anamorphic 16:9 Timeline content in the Edit area monitor, the space there is one for the stretched version 1920 x 1080 16:9, not 1440 x 1080. The Edit area monitor is a player controlled by the project in contrast to the YouTube player and video conversion which is controlled by YouTube.
Then we can rejoin this thread to compare results.

Specific hardware recommendations for PE12, Graphics for Win8.1

We are upgrading our video processing system from Win XP 32bit/ PE10. I plan on going to PE12 and need better recommendations for CPU, Graphics, Memory, etc than the Tech/Specs recommendations. Most importantly, does PE12 use GPU acceleration?

I can't remember which one, but at least one Adobe employee has "alluded" to the idea that the specifications on the product pages are "market" driven to increase sales, not "technical" driven to let people know what they should have for EFFECTIVE video editing
The 1st configuration on the page I listed will work OK for P-Elements (it would not work so well for P-Pro)

Adobe Bridge CS6 stalls in Photoshop...

I downloaded CS6 Design Standard from Adobe webpage and have tried several times to get mini bridge/bridge to run, but the message 'Waiting for Bridge CS6' runs for hours. I am using a 64-bit Dell desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium. I have tried option 4 on Error: Waiting for Bridge | Mini Bridge panel, but nothing changes on deleting the Switchboard from the registry. Some folks here have suggested looking up bridge.exe in the Task Manager, but my task manager doesn't even show it up.
I would appreciate help, and soon.

Well… that's your expectation. Did you pay for the download? During the first 30 days you'd be entitled to your money back, but it's been a heck of a lot longer since Adobe demanded or accepted any mnoney for "CS6 Design Standard". Set file type associations in Adobe Bridge for Photoshop CS6

Is there a way I can edit the registry so that in Adobe Bridge, under edit, preferences, file type associations, the jpg extension is forced to use the 32-bit version of Photoshop? I can do it manually, but is there a registry key i can export to apply it to multiple computers?

Yes, in theory, but it is generally not recommended. But that location would depend on what OS you are on. When I try the alt shft [ and the shift [ it only uses one side of the quote.
Any suggestions?

PSE 10 and Adobe CS6: When running silent install help is not working afterwards

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum. If not: Please help me find the correct one.
I have a big issue with Adobe CS6 (and former versions like Photoshop Elements 10): When installing it from DVD running GUI everything is working fine afterwards. If I install e.g. Photoshop Elements 10 using "Silent Installation" help is not working afterwards. It states that it cannot locate the URL. I have not installed AIR and also do not plan to install it.
I have 'played' a little around with Common Files\Adobe\helpcfg and help directory. Now at least I do not get an error message but still it's not the online help which opens in the browser but the web page that is defined as 'home'.
The same I see now in Adobe CS6. I have e.g. packaged After Effects and Illustrator and when deploying it I'm not able to open help as well and I fear that this is the same issue.
Has anyone deeper knowledge about how "helpcfg" is working? Any example files? Any other help appreciated as well.

@hannilator Have you checked the exceptions folder contents for instructions on how to push to logged off computers? Here's what I get when I package CS6 (DesignWebPrem) and excude AIR/CHC:
After you have deployed the package, separately install the products in the exception folder.
IMPORTANT: Before you install the products in the exception folder, refer to the following Adobe Knowledgebase article for information on installing these products and configuring the settings correctly:

Canon 1DX support was added to ACR in version 6.7, 7.1. An updated CS6 should be at level ACR 8.6. If your ACR is not at level 8.6 try using CS6 menu Help>Updates. If that does not install ACR 8.6 try downloading the ACR and DNG 8.6 converter and see if ACR 8.6 will install into your CS6.

Can This Laptop Be Used For Premier Pro CS6?

Developed an interest in learning to edit video but have become confused in reading all of the posts about what is the true minimum hardware requirement/setup, as compared to what is listed as System Requirements by Adobe. Probably best to start with my initial goals.
Here is what I was looking at doing as this journey begins:
Purchased Creative Suite 6 Production Premium Classroom in a Book(CIB) after reading a review it would be a better start than Premier Pro CIB, which I plan on getting, if one has no experience in this field. During research feel that I would like to become a subscriber to the Creative Cloud as there are a number of products I would like to learn and use. Basically, I am hopeful that I may use my current laptop for the beginning of my education and further down the road look at getting a more powerful system as knowledge/skills/requirements increase. Initial video I wouild like to work with is that received from family members smart phones and will be looking at purchasing a simple video camera for short interviews and brief presentantions. Will likely desire uploading some completed projects to the web.

As I will not have any time schedules that will have to be met I can accept that this may not be the ideal system. Just hoping it can be a start.

I had this setup for my old HP and have a caddy ready to install for my new Dell Precision as well. You can either get an external house for your DVD drive, or get an external one - they are quite cheap.
