CS6 Crash on Text Select Tool

Question

So I've just updated to CS6 (8.0.1) from 5, and every time I try to select the type tool and click to drag or click an existing box I get a crash. Not so with the earlier version CS5 (7.0.4).

I've run Cocktail (permissions repaired) and reloaded the software with no joy.

The mistake I made was that I deleted the files, (InDesign Defaults and InDesign Saved Data), what I had to do was rename the folder that contains the file(s) (Version 8.0 folder). Renaming as opposed to Deleting so you can revert back to the originals if needed.
So, for;
Macintosh: Hard Drive/Users/<USER>/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/<Version #>/<Language>/(Note: Prior to version 6 [CS4] the language folder is not used) Rename the Version 8.0 folder something else, e.g., "Old 8.0"
Do the same for;
Macintosh: Hard Drive/Users/<USER>/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/<Version #>/<Language>/ (Note: Prior to version 6 [CS4] the language folder is not used)
Rename the Version 8.0 folder something else, e.g., "Old 8.0"
Now start InDesign. This is what worked for me. You might want to try deleting just the files ("InDesign Defaults" and "Saved Data") from their respective folders before doing the whole folder rename way.
