CS6 - Edit Clip in Adobe Audition Grayed Out

I used to own the CS5.5 Master Collection Suite, and recently upgraded to CS6. Tonight, for the first time, I am using the new Premiere Pro CS6. Besides a few quirks and buginess, one frustrating issue is that the "Edit in Adobe Audition" option is grayed out when I right-click on any audio file placed in my timeline.
In fact, this option is grayed out even in the Edit menu on the top toolbar, and also for audio files over in my Bins list.
I have verified that Audition CS6 is installed and working.
Could really use some help so that I can edit these audio files in Audition directly from the timeline.

Bug confirmed.  This was reported in an earlier thread.  Advice given was to uninstall and try again. I notice too that in Preferences when looking at how your RAM is spread over the available Adobe programs, Audition doesn't appear.
I hoped the recent update would fix this bug - but, sadly it didn't.

  • "Edit Clip in Adobe Audition" is greyed out in CS6.

In Adobe Premiere CS6, "Edit Clip in Adobe Audition" is greyed out.  How can I change that?  I have Adobe Audition CS6 installed as well.  I have Production Premium CS6.

    I've solved it.
    Here's what I did:
    1) Put in my Adobe CS6 Production Premium install discs and re-installed the programs that I had chosen.  All of them (except for the 32-bit versions of software that was available in 64-bit).
    2) Let all of the programs finish the install.  I believe that Premiere needs Audition to be installed first, so that it recognizes that it's there, and that's a natural progression when installing all of Production Premium.
    3) That's it.  I opened Premiere, and found that it could connect with Audition.

  • Can't Edit Clips in Adobe Audition

So now I suddenly can't use one of my favorite features of Premiere - editing a clip in Adobe Audition.
I just upgraded to CS6 Master Collection.  When I right-click on an audio clip in Premiere, "Edit with Adobe Audition" is grayed out.  When I click the audio clip and select Edit > Edit in Adobe Audition, it goes through all the preparation, but Audition doesn't launch.
Bug?  Is there something I need to switch on somewhere?  Dynammic Link Media is selected, so I'm at a loss right now.
    Any suggestions?

look at the file extension of the audio file...
if you brought the clip into Premier, for example as an mp4, or maybe brought in a wav, or mp3 file, then you must change the default program that opens these extensions to Audition.
Just experience the same problem, removed Premier, reinstalled, same issue.
Opened previous project that had mp4 on timeline....
went to the file explorer and found and mp4 file, right click on file, open with, choose default program, change the default program to Audition....
I have changed the default program for all audio files now to be audition.
Keep in mind that if you have mp3 files that you like to listen to while you work, they will now no longer open in media player, or WinAmp by default.
You will now see that if you have unlinked the audio from the video clip, that when you right click on the audio file in the timeline, and choose edit original, it will now open in Audition....
    ...enjoy!!

  • Why doesn't Audition open when I click 'Edit Clip in Adobe Audition' in Premiere Pro CC2014?

I have been reading up on this issue and it seems like I am not the only one that this has happened to since Adobe released CC2014. The button is NOT greyed-out, just doesn't function the way it did in the original CC version; it creates an extracted file but does not send it to open with Audition and I have to manually locate the file and open it in order to edit the file.
I have already made sure that the .sesx file is set to use Adobe Audition by default but did not resolve it. Please let me know if you have a fix for this. Thanks!

    Hi OB,
    Menu > Pages > Preferences > General
Times New Roman is one of my Custom Templates in Template Chooser.
Those settings give me that template when I launch Pages 5, also with Menu > File > New (command n).
Anything different about your set up?
    Regards,
    Ian.
Edit: BTW, with those preferences, New From Template Chooser no longer shows under the File Menu. Hold down the option key to see it. Ian.

  • Why is my "Open in Adobe Audition" greyed out in PP cs6?

I have the cs6 master collection, pc, with all the updates yet  my "Open in Adobe Audition" greyed out in PP cs6?
I cant dynamic link from PP cs6 to audition cs6. Encore & AFX dynamic links work. Audition opens fine on its own & works fine.

For those of you visiting this page because you're having this problem, what's happened is that Adobe, in it's infinite wisdom, has installed a second folder of program files when updating from 6.0 to 7.0 (or perhaps a smaller update). You need to eliminate duplicate folders so Premiere Pro understands where to look. I noticed that my Audition was all by itself in a second Adobe folder, so I moved its contents to the other Adobe folder with the rest of the program's files and made sure they sat squarely in the Audition folder where they once were. I then right clicked on one of the .sesx files and opened it with Audition and viola. I can edit Premiere audio in Audition again.
PS Adobe, I literally use this ONLY because the denoiser in Premiere Pro doesn't work for the first 2 seconds you play a clip. It takes away noise nicely, just never for the first two seconds after I hit the play button, as if it's trying to use that time to figure out what to remove. If it worked correctly, I wouldn't hear the noise go away in my videos after the first two seconds of a clip and I wouldn't have to export to Audition and waste hard-drive space and time.

  • Premiere will not open clip in Adobe Audition

Working on some  footage and I've noticed that Premiere will not allow me to open the clips in Adobe Audition...the menu selection is greyed out.
    See below...
It doesn't matter what the footage is or what camera its from.
    Any guesses?

    Hi avanishdivya,
I checked all the things you suggested, and all of them are greyed out, except when going to the Edit menu, there is an option to edit the Squence in Audition...not the Clip.
    See below:
    System info:
    Windows 7 Ultimate sp1
Adobe CC Suite all up to date.
    i7-2600K
    32gb RAM
    512 SSD
    1TB HDD x5
    GTX470
Everything seemed to work fine in CS6, haven't installed any new software/plugins etc.

  • Edit in Audition Grayed Out in P-Pro CC 2014 Running Win 8.1

I know this issue already has a thread, but the solution is for users running Win 7 who's solution would not work with Win 8.1. When I right click any audio clip of any file type, the "Edit in Audition" option is grayed out on both of my machines running Win 8.1. I don't recall this problem prior to CC 2014. Any ideas or better yet, solutions?

    Hi Felix
There will be an Untitled Session .sesx file in your documents folder
    The path  : ( C:\Users\Username\Documents\Adobe\Audition\6.0\Untitled Session 1 )
Please right click on this file and click on the option Open with
It will open the windows to select default program.
Please chose Audition in there .
Then try to use the option edit in Audition again in premiere pro.
    Hope this works
    Thanks and Regards

  • Quality issue with importing edited audio from Adobe Audition CS6 to Articulate 09

I have edited an audio file using Adobe Audition CS6 and the playback sounds fine. I then import the edited file into Articulate'09 and the audio sounds horrible, very tinny and not useable. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue? I have tried saving the audio files as mp3 and wav to see if that would help and it did not make a difference.

I checked - it certainly supports both formats, but you'd have to be a lot more specific about what's wrong, because 'sounds horrible' doesn't convey anything meaningful at all, I'm afraid. And we have no idea of the format you are using - it's very possible that if it's being resampled on the way in by the operating system. If that's the case you have to find out specifically what formats (in terms of bit depth and sample rate) that this software actually supports.
Bottom line is that I'm afraid that this isn't very likely to be an Audition problem at all - you may get a more detailed and meaningful response from Articulate themselves.

  • Edit in Adobe Audition Greyed Out in After Effects CC

The "Edit in Adobe Audition" is greyed out in After Effects CC. I imported an mp3 file into my composition, click on it and the link remains greyed out. The link works fine from Premiere Pro CC to Audtion.
Is there a setting somewhere I need to set?

Figured it out. For whatever reason the .sesx file extension wasn't associated with Adobe Audition on my Windows 7 machine. I changed this by double clicking on an .sesx file and adding the association.

  • Adobe CS6 Flash - 3D transform tool is grayed out?

    Hi,
I am using adobe flash cs6 and I want to rotate an image in 3d space, but when I select the image then click the 3d transform tool I don't get the 3 circles to spin the image. I tried opening the transform toolbar, and the options to move it in 3d space are grayed out. I tried breaking the image apart, and still the same results - I can't rotate the image...
Does anyone know what I should be doing to get 3d rotate to work?
    Thanks.

I want to rotate an image in 3d space
You have to convert your image to a symbol first (F8) to be able to use 3D Translation

  • Audition grayed out in CS4

I own Audition 1.5, but 'Edit in Audition' is grayed out. Is there an
    workaround?

    OldAlf,
Yup... something is up, here's a link:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1192432#1192432
seems like Adobe has been sitting on this since last year.
if you jump to the last post you will get the info, it seems to be a Vista64 SP1 issue with AA3.
I did as recommended in the link and now I am able to get AA3 started and can work in it but I can't do any Spectral Frequency editing.  It seems to still be calling the DEP and it doesn't matter the settings in Vista, on or off.
Please post if you find anything out or have a better experience, this is frustrating!
    Hope that helps.

  • "Add to Audition" grayed out

I have a multicam clip that I created and is edited by varioius angles in the timeline. However, there is a section of it I wan to possible replace with a re-do of that section. I have a seperate multicam clip ready to go and I want to use the audition feature.
I first too the section of the clip in the timeline I wanted to have as an audition option and made it made it a new compound clip. When I attempt to drop in the second clip ontop of it to create an audition, I get the white overlay and drop the clip onto it. However, the context menu comes up will not allow me to use teh clip as an audition. "Add to Audition" and "Replace and Add to Audition" are both grayed out.
What am I doing wrong? How do I add the clip to create and audion between the two clips? It shoudln't matter that they are multicam, shoudl it?

I think I need to clarify the situation. There is no additional "Angle" to add. Its a completely different clip. Using another clip to audition against another clip doesn't defeat the object at all.
I had three cameras recording a clip which were combined into a single multicam clip, no prob. The subject (doing a sort of how-to video) explained a process one way. However, after we compelted that filming, we decided to do that section over and have the subject explain it another way. So I made a second multicam clip. They are not sure which one they will like better. So I have multi-clip #1 and multi-clip #2. Two compeltely different recordings (just each utilizing multi-camera instead of a single camera clip). mc#1 and mc#2 don't share anything in common. Thus I want to be able to audition one edited multicamera clip #1 against multicamera clip #2.
I was able to get it to work IF I select the clip in the timeline (#1) and select Duplicate As Audition. Then it created an identical copy and for some reason, then I can drop the new clip (#2) on top and it allows me to add it to the auditon. Then I just delete the un-needed copy. Not sure why that worked, but it does. Now I have both #1 and #2 mc clips availanble for audioion. Gotta be an easier way. But at least it works.

  • Most of the top half of my Edit Menu in Safari is grayed out.  How can I get it functioning again?

Yesterday and today the top half of my Edit Menu in Safari 5.1.10 is grayed out and unusable.  I have tried everything I can think of including reinstalling Safari, repairing permissions, restarting.  I am at a loss.  Can someone tell me what to do to get the menu working again?

I'm replying to my own question - I have no idea what has changed in five hours, but I just logged on again to see if anyone had repllied to my question - and the problem is fixed!  A total mystery to me, but thank you anyway.  I think these discussions are of great help when you have a problem and no "guru" to go to.  Thanks.
