CS6/Elements 10 and Windows 8

I am switching from a Windows Vista computer to a Windows 8 computer.  Will I have any problems installing CS6 and Elements 10 on the new computer?

Nobody can tell you. Until you've tried you won't know if there are problems. Both products should be compatible with Win 8. That's all anyone will say about the matter.

  • Elements 11 and windows 8

Can anyone help me locate my actions folder in photoshop elements 11 using windows 8? I am new to windows 8 and can not locate the folder to install my actions. Thank you!

You can install actions in the new actions panel without all that in PSE 11, you know. Just go to Window>Actions, click the four-lined square and choose Load Actions:

  • Elements 5 and Windows 7

I've been running Element 5 on Windows 7 for 6 months, but yesterday
the Organiser refused to open. It just hu

You need to update PSE by applying the PSE 5.0.2 patch, and also follow these instructions: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb400848&sliceId=1

  • Photoshop elements 7 and Windows 7 Homegroup

    Hi,
I'm trying to add a server drive on my Homegroup network to the Watched Folder list in Elements 7 and I get an error.  Is ver 7 compatible with Homegroup?  Is there a trick.  Note that I am NOT watching the Homegroup Pictures folder, I need to add a Raid Array drive to the watch list.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
Have you tried the following steps from John's page:
    Watching Network Folders
    [PSE 6, 7, 8]
This FAQ is not being maintained and may be out-of-date
It is possible to watch network folders with File > Watch Folders, but there a couple of considerations.
First, you need to use UNC syntax (\\mycomputer\photos) rather than a drive letter to specify the folders to be watched, because the Windows service implementing watched folders doesn’t have access to your drive-letter definitions.
You may get the error message:
The Watch Folder Service returned an error: The system cannot find the path specified.
This occurs because watched folders are implemented by a Windows service that normally runs in the Local System account and doesn’t have access to your logon credentials, which could be needed to access the network drive.
To change the logon of the service, go to the Control Panel and open Services. Select Adobe Active File Monitor Vv (substitute 6, 7, or 8 for v) and click the Properties button. On the Logon tab, change to “This account” and enter the name of your account (on the computer that runs PSE) and its password.

  • Elements 7 and Windows 7

I want to install the RAW plug-in for Elements 7 on to my 64 bit PC, but the instructions that I have found on the Adobe pages don't seem to apply to Windows 7 (file names/locations).
I would also like to say that apart from E7 not recognisimg my memory cards when inserted I have had no other problems with it on my 64 bit PC.
    Regards
    Littledobby

This forum is for Adobe's Acrobat Widows product and not for Adobe's PhotoShop Elements product.
Adobe does not support pre-release OSs and Windows 7 is still a pre-release product from MicroSoft.

  • Memory problem with Elements 8 and Windows 7

    Hi,
I have a copy of Elements 8 running on Windows 7.  When I open the organiser a large amount of RAM (about 1 GB) is grabbed by a SVCHost process.  The memory assosiated with the SVCHost builds up over time.  When I close the application the memory is not released.  It can get realy bad if I run it over night.
I have started going in and killing the process as it can effect the performance of my PC depending on what else I have running at the time.
Anyone got any ideas why this might be happening and how can I stop it.  I thought it might be connected with the face recognition feature or the auto analyze cataloging feature but I have turned both of these features off in the preferences control panel.
Any ideas would be welcome, thanks in advance.
    Geordie

Thank you John! You sure know what you are talking about.
After reading your review of the Organizer part of PSE8 I think I will pass on using it and will set up my own system at least for images I take from now on. I am also upset about being enticed to upgrading and having to pay the full amount each time!
As to your suggestion to installing PSE7 first in order to find the catalogue file I hate to find myself getting into more trouble! Do you suggest that I uninstall PSE 8 and then install PSE 7? And then proceed with the other part of your trouble shooting suggestion?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Problems with photoshop elements 10 and windows 8

I bought photoshop elements 10 for my wife last year for Christmas.  She decided not to install it on our old computer because we knew that we were planning to replace the computer this year.  We finally got around to replacing it and the new computer came with Windows 8.  She installed her photoshop on it and she is having problems with it.  I'm wondering if there is a compatability problem with the windows 8?  Is there an update for the pse 10 that will make it work with windows 8?

PSE10 is said to be compactable with windows8. What kind of problem are you facing? Did you try launching after resetting preferences? to know more about reseting preferences, check http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/using/undo-redo-cancel-actions.html#restore_defa ult_preferences

  • I need to know how to copy pictures to a cd with the captions showing, elements 8 and windows 7

I need to know how to copy
pictures to a cd with the captions showing, elements 8, windows 7

Here are some suggestions.  Perhaps others will have even better ideas.
1 -- for viewing on a Windows computer,  you can experiment with making a PSE Organizer slide show creation in which you specify to show the captions. Then save the Output of the slide show as a WMV file that the recipient could play on a computer with Windows Media Player.
If you have a DVD burner on your PC, you can also use that WMV file as input to the Windows 7 DVD Maker program for making a TV playable DVD. And if your recipient(s) who will view on a computer have DVD readers, you could make video DVDs playable on computers or TV DVD players instead of using CDs.
The limitations of this approach are that this wmv file you create is really a video file so
-- it advances photo slides at the rate specified when you create the slide show
-- the choices to save a wmv file are not very high resolution so that recipients who have high resolution monitors will not see the photo images are not getting the benefit of seeing the photos at their best
-- your recipients can't print from this video slide show
2 An entirely different approach is to
-- For each individual photo, make a copy of the photo file and depending on how high resolution your originals you might want to resize down to monitor viewing sizes.
-- Then use the PSE Editor Text Tool to place the caption on a layer above the photo. (I think that you could display the existing caption and then do a copy and paste so that you don't need to retype everything.)
-- You should save this photo copy with the text as a uniquely named JPEG file. Use the file names to control the sequence in which you want the viewer to see the photos.  (Don't save as a PSD because others probably can't read the PSD format).
-- Then use your computers CD burning software to burn a folder containing all those jpeg files with the captions to CD
This approach is a bit of work for each photo and you did not say how many photo files you will be doing. However,
-- computer users should be able to display  the jpegs as high resolution photos on their computer as well as optionally print from those photo files
-- many TV DVD players can play (display) jpg files from a CD disc which also gives recipients the opportunity to view the photos on their larger TV screen
Process 2 may seem complicated but once you get started I think it will be more of a production line.
    ADDITION
Do you have any portrait orientation photos included with those you wish to send ? If yes, we might need to discuss some additional processing for them.

  • Premiere elements 9 and windows 7 64 bit, installation and startup

Installing pre 9 on my Dell Studio x64 with the mcAfee software did not work.
I had to use msconfig to use selected start without mcAfee security center and adobe software, plus other software that had photoediting - before that I could not start photoshop elements or premiere.
After installation got through, I have not been able to use premiere elements.
When I start for the first time I get message that only a small part of the software have been installed and that I need to download the rest from the internet - yes or no for reply.
Clicking yes gets me to the page  http://www.adobe.com/se/special/premiereel/downloads/ (swedish) and clicking on any of the links launches a new windows, givit the choices to continue to download test-software or purchased software after log-in.
The premiere elements 9 windows shows nothing, it's is empty with the exception of the menu.
On the menu I can only make choice to a new projekt or open a projekt.
I have contacted support but I need to phone them on a weekday, but I work all day and do not have the software at work.
    Any suggestions?

What happens if you go to the menu in Premiere Elements and select File, then New?
Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend you replace McAfee as your antivirus. It's known to conflict with certain programs.
Both Avast! and Microsoft Security Essentials offer FREE versions. They work at least as well -- and they don't cause program conflicts.

  • Premiere Elements 10 and Windows 8.1

Any special instructions for loading and getting Elements 10 to work with Windows 8.1?
After installing Elements 10 on my new Windows 8.1, I have a problem with the video.  This worked find on my Windows 7 machine.  When playing the imported video, I can hear the audio, but do not see the video.  The video plays successfully using the native video player in Window 8.1.  The camera is a Nikon AW100, and format is MOV.

    SJHarris101
The first question is "Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 10?"
Are you working with the program as Run As Administrator or from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
Next, because of the current epidemic of display problems for Premiere Elements 10 users with NVIVIA video cards, I will ask "Does your computer use a NVIDIA video card? Do you have the latest driver installed? May need a roll back. But because of your Premiere Elements 10 Windows 7 vs Premiere Elements 10 Windows 8.1, I am not certain this may affect you. Nonetheless, please check it out.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1317675
I have Premiere Elements 10, 11, and 12 successfully installed on Windows 8.1 64 bit. The video card is Intel HD Graphics and no problems.
Important to know, "What are the properties of the video that you are importing into the project?" And "What have you or the program set for the project preset based on the properties of those source media?" Based on what I have read of your camera, you are probably dealing with Full 1080p30 (H.264.mov) with Stereo. If so, is your project preset
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p30
    (See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General).
Right now I am pointing to your video card
    a. if NVIDIA, possible need for video card driver version roll back
    or
    b. if not NVIDIA, possible need for video card driver version up date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card.
But, let us see where your details lead us.
    Thanks.

  • HP Deskjet 9650 with Photoshop Elements 7 and Windows 7 not printing

I have a new Windows 7 computer and installed Photoshop Elements 7.0 on it, which works fine, except I cannot print.  I did the installation instructions to use the alternate driver 9800 and can print 8 1/2 X 11 Word documents, but I cannot print a 12X12 scrapbook page to save my soul.  The resume print button keeps blinking and it spits it out blank.  Any help?
I hope I do not have to get a new large format printer.

I just accomplished this without any real problems and am now running with my same license on the newly rebuilt PC.  Here is what I did ...
Originally my PSE7 configuration was set up last year on new Intel I7-based PC running Vista 64 bit version with a retail copy of the PSE7 software, i.e. not the upgrade version.  Once that was setup I imported my catalog from the older Adobe Photoshop Album on my previous system.  That put me at the place you are now, i.e. PSE7 on Windows Vista.
For this upgrade I puchased the upgrade version of Windows 7 and an additional second disk drive.  I installed Windows 7 onto the clean drive, giving me a dual-boot system for either OS.  While booted on the Vista drive, I used the easy-transfer method to write a backup of my Vista files to an external disk drive.  I then rebooted into the Windows 7 drive and used the Easy-transfer tool to reload the files from the external drive. (note; this easy-transfer included >200GB of music/video/image files so it ran for several hours for each phase of the transfer)
Once I verified the directory structure on the new Windows 7 setup, only then did I do the installation of PSE7.  That wnet flawlessly and relicensed without any problems.  Next I was able to open up my catalog in organizer and all of the images were intact.  Since then I have had no issues with the configuration.
So bottom line is you should be fine doing the upgrade regardless of whether you do the upgrade like I did to a new drive or an in-place upgrade overlaying your vista environment.  For the in-place upgrade I would strongly recommend you still do a backup of all of your images and their associated catalog(s) to an external drive.  Win7 is a vast improvement over Vista so I'm sure you won't regret the upgrade but I don't trust any vendor's software upgrade procedure, especially Microsoft so please do the backup first.

  • Camera Raw with Elements 7 and Windows 7 ?

I just got a new computer (i7-2600 quad core processor, running Windows 7) and installed Photoshop Elements 7.0 (and Premiere Elements 7.0) from thew original installation disks. Everything seems to work so far, but I want to be able to use my Canon's (EOS T1i) RAW format (extension .CR2) as I did with my old computer (running Windows XP). I followed the on-line instructions and downloaded the Camera RAW 5.6 plug-in (stated to be the last version which works with PE 7.0). I then ran the CameraProfiles application. I then tried to navigate to the Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 7.0/Plug-Ins/File Formats folder to find the Camera Raw.8bi file. However that path does not exist. I did find the Camera Raw.8bi file in Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 7.0/Plug-Ins/File Formats (not surprisingly). But then the instructions say to copy the plug-in to the original folder in mycase, Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 7.0/Plug-Ins/File Formats) and launch PE. After doing so, I still can't open the RAW files. (I even tried creating a new path in the original Program Files folder, but that didn't work either.) What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do to access the .CR2 files in PE 7.0?

Can you check that Camera Raw 5.6 installed correctly.
Open the Editor and on the top menu click:
    Help à About Plug-in à Camera Raw
You should see something like the following confirmation. Make sure it is version 5.4 or higher. Press Esc to close

  • Photoshop Elements 6 and Windows 8.1

I successfully installed and ran my old photoshop elements 6 on my new Windows 8.1 desktop. I was able to make my shareing account and send photos until 4/18 or so, when the photomail appeared to send normally but was not received on the other end. I switched my address and verification number to an alternate address (using adobe email services) under preferences - sharing and still it appears to send but no photos are received to either AOL or Yahoo email accounts. Did an 8.1 update block my mail? Many 8.1 tweaks have inundated my computer lately...HELP!...Marc (I'm using a Dell XPS, i-7, 12 Gig Ram, 2Tb hard drive, Win 8.1, 90,000 jpegs on computer)

Unfortunately, we don't know a whole lot about Elements in this forum.  You need to ask your question here:
