CS6 encoder no audio in mpeg2 dolby

No Dolby audio with encode mpeg2 files,
Adobe Media encoder updated 6.0.1.31(64 bit),download upgrade from cs5 and,not cloud,is not properly encoding MPEG2 with Dolby digital set at the audio tab.
The rendered mpg file shows no audio at windows right click file properties details, yet and curious, there is audio if I play the the file in windows media player in the computer the file was created (the one premiere cs6 is installed, but the same file from portable HD´s in other PC´s , ps3 or media players like asus plays with no sounds.
I like to have all my projects rendered and saved to mpeg 2 1920x1080 with audio Dolby digital 256kbps,(this way they go without transcoding in encore if I need a BD disc), but I prefer to have them stored and viewed as files not as BD disc.
As I had this perfectly and flawless with media encoder 5, something is wrong with my media encoder 6.0.1 and the preset mpeg 2 with dolby audio.
I do have CS5 and other adobe installed at the same machine: win 7 professional service pack1-12GB ram-i7-2,66-Quadro 4000,and two raids.
I did several tests and spent great hours with this matter (no results)
Any ideas or a solution please ?
Thank you

I had the same issue with Media Encoder CS6 when encoding m2ts files. This issue disappeared magically after installing the latest trial version of "Adobe Premier Pro" from adobe.com. Now the media encoder works just fine and encodes with audio without any issues. Looks like "Premier Pro" installed/updated some system files required for Media Encoder. The great thing is that even after uninstalling the "Premier Pro" completely from the system, "Media Encoder" still works. Try it yourself and see if it resolves your issue as well.

  • Can Compressor 4 encode LPCM audio in MPEG2?

Before I shell out money buying Compressor 4.... is LPCM audio an option when encoding video in multiplexed MPEG 2 format?  I can't see it in the user manual... just MP2 formats like AC3.
Lowly iDVD encodes its MPEG2 video with LPCM audio - so surely Compressor can?
    Thanks.

Well, given the source material is usually DV or VHS then MPEG-2 at 8 Mbps has almost no visual degradation compared to the original (very little that my eye can pick up), but it produces files about 15-20% the original file size.  So it's perfect for this application, and I'm sure you'd agree, sufficient for archiving DV material.
In my vocabulary is "very heavily compressed" means the result is less than 10% of the original file size.
It still doesn't explain why Compressor would omit what seems to me to be a very basic audio encoding scheme.  It doesn't get much more basic than LPCM.  Surely if one is fussy about video compression, one should also be fussy about audio compression and find that AC3 and similar schemes remove too much audio detail, particularly when the content is music.

  • Can't get Encoded Digital Audio to work with HDMI again

I like to connect my 15" Retina Macbook to my Pioneer VSX-1121-K receiver using a high speed HDMI cable (high speed for 3D). My sound settings for a long time have been very reliable; in Audio Midi Setup I had the HDMI output set to 48 kHz + "Encoded Digital Audio" and had no major issues. My encoded Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 signals were being passed through to the Pioneer receiver just fine.
So then I got Mavericks recently and everything seemed fine for a couple of days; when suddenly, Audio Midi Setup decided it never wants to allow the "Encoded Digital Audio" format to work.
I select VSX-1121 under System Preferences/Sound, but only get the standard blah PCM over the HDMI. Here's the weird part I don't understand: when I go to Audio Midi Setup and change the format from "2ch-24bit Integer" to "Encoded Digital Audio", it automatically switches the sound to Built-In Output and doesn't budge when I tell it to use the HDMI output.
I tried changing the sound effects & alerts to the Pioneer and back to Built-In Output, but that didn't affect anything. I've tried restarting, disconnecting the HDMI and plugging it back in, turning the receiver off/on, turning HDMI Control off/on, tried a different HDMI cable and receiver input -- all no dice.
It won't let me select 96 kHz for the HDMI either. What up with that? I was fooling around with FLACs in 192 and 96 kHz about a month ago with no problems whatsoever, and playing 5.1 DVDs without any of this weirdness. If it's somehow Mavericks' fault I want a big fat patch on this.
Other details: receiver's connected to a Panasonic VT30 that I use as a second screen with the Macbook for movies and stuff. Also have a current model AppleTV connected. I assume they're both not affecting anything.
Any solutions or insights would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem. Took me a while to figure out, but the problem was in the HDMI settings in the receiver, NOT the software.
    My setup:
Macbook Air > Mini Display Port to HDMI converter into Onkyo Receiver > HDMI Out of Onkyo into Panasonic TV.
    Symptoms:
I was getting stereo fine, but not 5.1 (options grayed out etc). You were on the right track; I unplugged the TV which opened up all the multi channel options for HDMI. Turns out the HDMI out settings in the receiver were set to pass Audio to the TV. So the Audio Device Settings on my Mac viewed the TV as the destination device. But as the TV only supports stereo, that's all I could select through Audio Device Settings and VLC etc.
    Solution:
On the receiver I went to Setup > Hardware Settings > HDMI and switched the audio off for HDMI Out. Now the Mac sees the receiver as the final destination and I can select HDMI (Encoded Output) etc. from VLC. That sends proper Dolby Digital 5.1 etc. nicely.
    Note:
I can select all the multi channel options for HDMI in Audio Devices Settings (as supported by my Onkyo Receiver), but I just left mine at 2ch-24 bit. Seems as long as you select Encoded Output in VLC it will send 5.1 perfectly and no issues with regular stereo playback for music.

FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?

  • No audio in Mpeg2 file.

I have three avi files from a parade. When I export them to adobe media encoder, the audio only works on one file. I use these settings:
    4:3
    Lower Interlaced
CBR with PCM audio (8mbps with the 25 minute file (the only one that works) and 4mbps with the 60 minute avi file and the 55 minute avi file (neither end up with audio intact).
    Set the multiplexing to DVD.
I have used these settings many many times and they have worked great...but not this time.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

MPEG Streamclip has no option at all for MPEG2 output...
In case, I didn't give enough information:
I have Quicktime Files (and other file types).
Need to Create MPEG2 Transport Files that have AC3 Audio.
Compressor Can do MPEG2 TS Files but won't let me change audio from mpg to AC3.
StreamClip Can read QT Files but cannot export MPEG2 Files at all.
HandBrake Can Read MP4 Files but cannot export MPEG2 Files at all.
Trying Episode Encoder Trial to see if it does it.

  • HT204370 My movies' audio isnt 5.1 as the description says. when I check out their info it says they are 2 channel. I have tried with two movies already and the audio description said Dolby 5.1

My movies' audio isnt 5.1 as the description says. when I check out their info it says they are 2 channel. I have tried with two movies already and the audio description said Dolby 5.1

Actually, try this instead. On the apple tv, under settings > Audio > Dolby digital
Change it From AUTO (default) to ON
That worked for me. All my eyetv encodes have stereo and 5.1 tracks. For some reason the auto option forces stereo. Setting it to ON forces the 5.1.
Everything sounds nice again! It's just stupid that apple puts AUTO for the default and that setting results in stereo not 5.1.

  • Won't Change Back to Regular Audio After Setting "Encoded Digital Audio"

I have a first generation Mac Pro, and I've just recently upgraded to Lion. I used to play a fair bit of DVDs on the computer, but recently I've slacked off doing that. Today I popped in a DVD to play and then opened DVD Player up. Everything worked fine as it was supposed to. I've got the DVD player set to send digital audio out so I can get surround sound through my receiver. When I quit DVD player I don't get sound anymore through the optical out unless it's encoded digital audio. I've had that problem before, and to solve it I'd go to Audio Midi Setup and change the format to what it was prior to being set to "Encoded Digital Audio" by DVD Player. However, now with the upgrade to Lion it will not switch back. The option to do it is there, and I can click on 16, 20, or 24bit audio all day long and I won't get audio output from that port unless I restart the computer.
This is obviously a system bug that needs to be reported to Apple if they aren't aware of it already, but what I'm wanting to know is how can I avoid restarting to get audio back? Restarting Core Audio doesn't do the trick as I've already tried that.

From the iPod's Main Menu choose Videos -> Settings and make sure TV Out is set to Off.
Otherwise, try a hard reset as well.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • How to encode live audio to a-law?

    Hi all,
I would like to know how to configure the processor to encode live audio to a-law datasource. I got something like this when I tried to start processor:
Failed to build a graph for the given custom options.
    Failed to realize: com.sun.media.ProcessEngine@765a16
Cannot build a flow graph with the customized options:
Unable to transcode format: LINEAR, 44100.0 Hz, 16-bit, Stereo, LittleEndian
    , Signed
to: alaw, 8000.0 Hz, 8-bit, Mono
    outputting to: RAW
    Error: Unable to realize com.sun.media.ProcessEngine@765a16
    Thanks.

I think the format has to be one of those included in the getSupportedFormats().
For example if you have a single track processor,
    Format[] formats = processor.getTrackControls()[0].getSupportedFormats()
This should be callled on a confured processor. it returns an array of supported encoding/transcoding or output format for this configured processor. setting any of these should be successfull.
Once format is set, the processor can be realized and started
In your case I guess you have to find the format in the array that best matchs your a-law format then use this format from the array to set to the processor. (dont worry, their will be a few a-law formats)
I think that in your case, transcoding 16-bit to 8-bit was the problem.
Also, capturing at lower than 44100.0hz when transcoding to alaw 8000 could be considered, I mean capturing at 8000.0hz could work too

  • Encoder live audio in stereo

Hi sorry for my english,im try to create a radio online, but
don't find what is the best option to transmit single audio in
stereo, Im try with Flash media Encoder but the audio encoder
configuration its more limited and I believe that encoder only in
    Mono.
It is possible to encoder audio in stereo with FME ?
What is the best option to encoder live audio for a Web Radio
    Online with FMS ?
    Thanks in advance.

And how increase the sampling rate and/or the bitrate of the
    audio codec?
Sampling at 22050 and a bitrate ceiling of 32kbps are both
quite limiting. Is there any chance of at least increasing the
bitrate to something like 128kbps or more?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Encode to audio only with a purchased iTunes movie?

I'm trying to encode to audio only using finder, with a purchased movie from iTunes. When I do this it says complete with an error, and nothing is exported or encoded or anything???

I can't imagine this would work.  Movies purchased via iTunes are protected via DRM and thus would resist attempts to decode and save off content.
You could resort to analog methods.

  • Encoding multiple audio streams?

Can iDVD see and encode multiple audio streams for a single movie? Maybe this is asking too much but perhaps I've overlooked something...

The norm is to export video and audio out of Premiere Pro separately.  Doing this, you will end up with one video file and multiple audio files.  Bring them into Encore and add them to a timeline.

  • Forgot a shortcut in CS6- Using Marker+Audio playing

I am using ( new ) Aftereffects CS6- Playing the audio in the ram/audio preview. I need to be able to add markers while the song is playing using a shortcut. I know there is one because I was using it once with CS6 but forgot what it is. I was able to hit the shortcut and enter markers without stopping. The shortcuts to use * or someother combination is only available if I had numeric keypad, which I don't.
    Help is appreciated

That shortcut (and every other After Effects shortcut) is here.
